When buying a dryer and washing machine, the most critical features you have to think about nowadays are energy efficiency, and whether the appliance you buy suits your lifestyle and the space you have available. (...)

When buying a dryer and washing machine, the most critical features you have to think about nowadays are energy efficiency, and whether the appliance you buy suits your lifestyle and the space you have available. When we speak about lifestyle, we think about how often we actually use these appliances and what we use them for. In this case, what clothes or items we actually wash.

Now, when you want to use your washer and dryer often, a stainless-steel tub would be best. If you wash less frequently, you can get by pretty well with a porcelain-coated or plastic tub. If you don't have much space for a large washer, you can get a stacking washer/dryer machine. This comes in either full-size or apartment-size capacities. Another important thing is that you must get a dryer that matches your washer's capacity.

Think about what you will use them for. If your wash includes a variety of fabrics and levels of dirtiness, a washer with specialty cycles like delicate and extra soak, plus a second rinse, will be valuable. Multiple water-level settings will ensure the most efficient wash for loads of different sizes. Some machines can boost water temperature to sanitize a load. Automatic temperature regulators are a must in cold climates, so that water comes into the machine at a constant temperature, depending on the setting.

The two common types of washing machines are top-load models and front-load washers. Top-load washers allow you to access the wash tub without bending. These models must be set side-by-side with the dryer. Top-load models cost less, although it will prove to be less energy efficient in the long run.

The front-load machine is gaining in popularity because of its energy efficiency. They only need around one-third to one-half the amount of water of a top loader, which means that much less heating. Clothes also come out needing less time in the dryer because the agitators spin a lot faster. Although they save on energy costs, front loaders are more costly at purchase; some require a special detergent.

When selecting a dryer, always remember that the capacity you choose should match that of your washer's. A washer with a 3.5-cubic-foot capacity, for instance, requires a 7-cubic-foot dryer capacity. If space is a problem, you might think about getting a stack washer-dryer model that can fit in a closet.

Dryers are powered by either electricity or gas, with gas being a bit more expensive to get but the most economical and efficient in the long run. By law, dryers must have at least one automatic-drying cycle, but the best dryers include moisture sensors, which automatically shut down the machine whenever the moisture level in the drum drops below a certain point. Other nice features include a cool-down cycle, which keeps the clothes wrinkle-free, and a damp-dry cycle that allows garments to be prepared for ironing.

Although I'm not completely sure on this, but I personally think that the first cooking implement created by man was the knife. (...)

Although I'm not completely sure on this, but I personally think that the first cooking implement created by man was the knife. Ages ago, knives were used by man to gather and hunt for food, and later on used to prepare food when fire was discovered. Several centuries later, the knife is still one of the most common and most used tools everywhere you can find a kitchen. The ubiquitous knife is used everywhere, from homes to restaurants to cruise ships.

But although we can all agree about the importance of this versatile tool, it's sad to see that very few people know how to properly handle and care for a knife. Perhaps it's because knives don't have manuals when we buy them.

One of the things that really annoy me is watching people use knives incorrectly. The problem is that nobody taught us how to do it properly when we were just kids. All we knew at that time was that knives were dangerous and better kept away from us kids. There may be no instruction manuals for knives, but I believe that people who use them regularly should at least take the effort to learn how to handle them correctly.

First, learn how to hold the knife properly. Basically, there are three ways to hold a knife, but it depends on the kind of knife and what is it going to be used for. For cutting against a board, a knife should be held with the thumb and forefinger gripping the blade. Grip the handle with your other three fingers. When cutting hanging meat, for example, the knife should be held like a dagger for proper leverage. When using a small knife to turn or peel, one or two fingers should grip the blade, with the othersthe rest around the handle.

Learn also how to care for your knives. A wooden board should be used for chopping and cutting. Plastic boards require more cleaning, and they are not quite as gentle on the edge of a knife as wooden boards. Get a board with the end-grain as a cutting surface, rather than side grain. The end-grain is the least abrasive surface to cut against, so your knife's edge will last a longer time.

Always store a knife in a way that protects the blade, such as a plastic sleeve or a paperboard. Clean the knife first after use, then dry before storing it away. Do not wash knives in a dishwasher, no matter how convenient it may seem. Always protect the knife's edge against other hard objects. To properly sharpen a knife, the best way is to use a knife sharpener with an abrasive, diamond surface. Of course, you can always use a whetstone, but it takes a lot of experience to be able to sharpen a knife to razor-like sharpness with it.

Azlan Irda is the co-founder of AfterKnife.com, which provides high-quality knives and supplies.

Most people would not even think about going online to buy jewelry. Perhaps they just feel more comfortable dealing with their local jewelry store. Or perhaps the unfamiliarity of doing business on the Internet with an unknown and unseen person scares them, thus preferring to do business with someone they can see and hear. Whatever reason it may be, the fact remains that the concept of shopping for jewelry online is still anathema for some people.

But all of that may be changing, as more and more jewelry shops are setting up business on the Internet. In fact, several jewelers have already established their reputations online, and more are following in their footsteps. It is no longer strange for people to see high-quality jewelry being sold and purchased online, as opposed to a traditional jeweler's store. This is good news for shoppers and retailers alike, since e-commerce has now provided a lot of benefits and convenience for merchants and shoppers alike.

For shop owners, doing business online means that their valuable items will be safe and secure. No longer will they have to worry about improper handling and even the occasional theft by customers and shopkeepers alike. They can also protect and showcase all their valuable items without the need for heavy display cases, safes, vaults, and all the other necessary furnishings of a traditional jewelry store. It is definitelyless expensive to maintain and operate an online store, as compared to a traditional one; thus enabling the store to save operational costs.

For shoppers, doing business on the Internet means more convenience. Traveling around from one shop to another will be a thing of the past. Shoppers can even browse for as long as they want without an annoying attendant or shopkeeper following their every step. Buying online is also easier and faster. Some online jewelry stores sell their valuable items at much lower prices than local retailers. This is another major factor to consider when deciding where to buy.

As for the selection, shoppers will be treated to a dazzling array of the finest jewelry available. Some online shops even feature exclusive items that customers will not find anywhere else, which makes online shopping even better than going to your local jeweler. Whether you need a bracelet for your daughter, a pair of cufflinks for your uncle, or an anklet for your fashionable and trendy teenager, you can find anything you want online. The selection is simply enormous. Bridal jewelry, celebrity jewelry, jewelry armoire, silver jewelry, and even plus-size jewelry, to name only a few, can all be found here.

Online jewelers like Irda Jewelry have already established a reputation for quality and great service. If you still haven't explored the possibilities of online shopping, then you haven't enjoyed the faster service, the greater selection, and the convenience that others have. It's very easy to find any item you want, and even easier to buy one. Try it out for yourself and experience the convenience and the practicality that online shopping has to offer.

About the author:

Azlan Irda is co-founder of http://www.irdajewelry.com which specializes in fine, exquisite jewelry for a broad spectrum of clients.

It is not conclusive when precisely did pizza emerge at its position as one of the tremendously popular dishes in the United States, but nearly everybody will unquestionably concur that pizza has become America's preferred grub over the past 40 years. Millions of pizza pies are eaten daily, but very few people, if at all, stop munching and chewing their beloved pizza to consider the history of their favorite food. The actual origins of this fine cuisine are as colorful as any good pizza pie heaping with toppings.

When you go out into the streets, try questioning people where they guess pizza came from, chances are you will get answers pointing to the common belief that Italians created the pizza. Even so, the origins go back to the ancient times. Even though we have yet to hear archeological evidence of a Dominos Pizza outlet before the last century, it is widely recognized that the Babylonians, Israelites, Egyptians and other ancient Middle Eastern cultures were eating flat, un-leaven bread that had been cooked in mud ovens.

The bread was much like a pita, which is still common in Greece and the Middle East today. Besides, it is well-known that ancient Mediterranean people such as the Greeks, Romans and Egyptians were eating the bread, topped flavored with olive oil and indigenous spices.

The lower class of Naples, Italy is considered to have created pizza in a more familiar fashion. In the late 1800s, an Italian baker by the name of Raffaele Esposito, was believed to have created a dish for visiting royalty. Fitting in with the narrative, the Italian monarch King Umberto and his partner, Queen Margherita were touring the area. In order to make an impression and to show his devoted zeal, Raffaele opted to include some toppings to his flat bread with food that would best symbolize the colors of Italy: red tomato, white mozzarella cheese and green basil. The king and queen were so impressed that word quickly reached the masses. The end results were that the dish was well received to the extent that others began to copy it.

By the onset of the 1900s pizza made its way to the interior urban centres of the United States, thanks to Italian immigrants. The people of New York and Chicago were among the foremost diners to taste and enjoy their first slices of pizza, due to those cities having large Italian populations. Small cafes began offering the Italian favorite . American soldiers also influenced the reputation of the dish by the end of World War II, having been exposed to it while fighting on the Italian front.

Nowadays, pizza has develop into something wholly American as baseball and apple pie. Only because of its most recent origins is it considered an Italian dish. Huge U. S. based multi-billion dollar corporations should be thankful for the development of this delicious dish, along with countless poor college students who can appreciate the fine dining experience that pizza has given them, even while on a budget.

There are two common ways of selling software: either online or in a store. Both have some kind of advantage, both for the costumers and for the merchants. (...)

There are two common ways of selling software: either online or in a store. Both have some kind of advantage, both for the costumers and for the merchants. It is in the merchant's interest that his/her clients know about the product, and the way to achieve this point is through advertisement.

The disadvantage of advertising software directly at the store is that other products may compete for the client's attention. But there are also some advantages: one is the constant presence of a salesman/woman who can answer customers' questions about that product and give more information. Also, some customers prefer to buy software which is being distributed on portable media such as DVDs or CDs. The layout of the medium can also draw the attention of the customer.

A product which is being sold online requires differrent distribution and advertisement techniques than the products sold in stores. advertising software on the web can be quite user-specific: an inexpensive way is the use of marketing software, which for example sends e-mails out to customers which did buy similar products in the past. This is just one example of the use of ecommerce software in a product promotion.

Another way to advertise software online is by employing popup windows. This method is less personalized, but the numbers you will connect with make up for the generic approach it takes. Popup windows also cost you less than ecommerce software, since you will pay only a small fee for every view the online ad gets.

%NL% The disadvantage for online advertising is that there has been desensitization among frequent online users toward online ads. This is due to the extensive and sometimes intrusive use of advertisements on a number of websites. As a result, users tend to just block out the ads.

It is also noticeable that some Internet users are now afraid of clicking on any advertisement online, especially in the case of advertising software. Consumers have become aware that they might inadvertently install a virus packaged along with software they have downloaded, and it is no wonder that this makes them leery of clicking on an advertisement.

I personally count myself to those, who prefer to do the research for software online and then go into the store and buy the product. Therefore I am influenced by the advertisements online, as well as those in the store.

Have you ever experienced picking out furniture with your partner? (...)

Have you ever experienced picking out furniture with your partner? Chances are, you've had quite a few disagreements about the style, the design, and even the material of every piece of furniture in the store. It's a common sight to see couple arguing about the furniture they want to get for their home. Sometimes I really have to agree that bachelors have it easy compared to married men. Why would I say this? Think about it. Bachelors can buy any piece of furniture they want and stick it anywhere they want to. As for married men, every furniture-related decision will have to go through a series of arguments and debates before anything can be purchased. Whether it's a couch for the living room or a futon for the den, it's never easy finding and buying furniture for couples.

This is because men and women have entirely different opinions on what makes a good piece of furniture. When men think of furnishings for the home, they think of straight, clean lines, uncluttered designs, muted colors like tan, brown, and black, and large-scale builds with leather or plain fabrics. They like functional pieces with simple, contemporary looks, whether they are for wooden or upholstered furniture.

Women, however, go for pastel colors and floral designs, because for them, it gives the furniture style and elegance. They like floral, chintz, silk, smooth and satiny fabrics for upholstery. With regards to the architecture, women prefer curved backs, rolled arms, and extra details like skirting, pillows and cording. Overall, women's tastes go for elegant, with French, Italian, and English flavors.

Considering these factors, it's no wonder that couples rarely agree on what to buy or build for their homes. Their likes and dislikes will unavoidably collide with each other every chance they get. Men will see the women's tastes as fussy and uncomfortable, while the women begin to think that men have no sense of style whatsoever.

The key to resolving this dispute is understanding both of your preferences. Instead of looking for the obvious differences in taste and style, why not look for the common factors that you both have? Find some common ground and work from there. Perhaps you'd find that you both like laminates and stripes. Or maybe it's that movado clock you got for your 1st anniversary. Discover what you both like and try to see if the other details can fall into place around that common theme.

You can also try compromising. Combine your tastes and see if you don't find something that will match both your standards. For example, he can have a large, sturdy sofa for him, and add some floral cushions for her. You can work around a color scheme that she likes, and incorporate a leather chair for him. Or the family room might have dark wooden paneling and straight lines for him, but it can also have floral fabrics and accessories that would appeal to her.

Finding a common ground can work very well in resolving the differences that can crop up. Each one should be able to express their likes and dislikes. This way, serious disagreements can be avoided and you will have a home that is both functional and beautiful.

About the author:

Azlan Irda is the co-founder of Acura Furniture which provides a great selection of quality furniture at affordable price.
Pay Per Click marketing is also known as PPC. (...)

Pay Per Click marketing is also known as PPC. With PPC marketing, you pay the search engine each time someone clicks the link in your ad and goes to your site.

Face the facts, it will probably take between 6 and 12 months to avoid being intentionally filtered out of the search engine results by Google. And after that, you'll still have to wait until your website begins to rank high enough in the SERPS to start getting mouse clicks and traffic. So in the mean time you can get your ad listed at the top of the SE pages by using pay per click marketing

Like lots of other areas of Internet advertising, keyword investigation is a critical part of PPC marketing. You have to know which keywords and keyword phrases the majority of searchers are most likely to use to seek out what it is that you are offering.

When you start a PPC marketing campaign, you are actually involving yourself in an auction. You and your competitors will bid on the keywords and keyword phrases that are most popular, with the highest listings going to the highest bidders. The more that a person is willing to pay for the clicks, the higher that site will be listed in the paid listings, which are usually at the very top of the page and down the right side of the page.

PPC marketing has become highly aggressive for many of the popular keywords, which can sell for anywhere from five cents per click to many, many dollars.

PPC marketing is often filled with falsified clicks. Your competitors will click on your ads to drive up your PPC marketing bill in order to try to get you to stop competing. There have also been some allegations and lawsuits regarding fraud that is perpetrated by the search engine companies themselves. And the Plaintiffs won at least one of these lawsuits that I read about.

I could write a lot about this area of advertising. But I think that your interests would be better served if I just "cut to the chase." Conversion rates vary widely by industry on the Internet. But the average conversion rate is similar to what is found in the mail-order business, between one half of one percent, and two percent. And in the real world, projecting a one percent conversion rate would be fairly safe, though there are thousands of variables that can make the one percent estimate much too high.

What that means is that out of every 100 clicks on your links, you might get one actual sale. So if the markup (Gross Profit) on your average sale is $50.00, and your clicks cost fifty cents each, you cannot afford PPC marketing because 100 clicks X fifty cents per click = $50.00 and you only broke even.

Remember, "Gross Profit" does not include your overhead. It is only the difference between the selling price of your item and the cost of your item. So in the above example money was actually lost. You have got to know what your costs are, and that includes how much it costs to own your equipment, pay your rent, ISP, etc., plus the value of your time.

The bottom line is that most PPC advertising has been bid up too high by the larger businesses and can be difficult or impossible for a little guy to make money using pay per click marketing.

Watch out for of the companies who will offer to administer your pay per click marketing for a fee because they cannot change the laws of math or physics. They will claim to have the expertise to help you, and they may very well. But they still cannot change the laws of math or physics.

I've found that pay per click marketing can work, but you have got to carefully do the math. Can you make a profit based on the above if you pay the current bid price for the keywords and get only about a 1/10th of 1% or 2/10ths of 1% conversion rate (sales rate)? If you can, then pay per click marketing may very well work for you.

I urge you to stick with niche terms that have not been bid up to high. Personally, in my industry I'm only willing to pay between 15 cents and 40 cents maximum per click, and my products sell for between $40.00 and $150.00.

Pay per click advertising? Do the math first, and then make a decision. But you must be willing to lose money while you find out how to make it work!

Personally, I've found several SEO techniques that are much more effective than PPC marketing. These other techniques have helped me to advance my website to the first page on all of the major search engines for the most popular keyword phrases in my industry. A reason that these other techniques are much more effective is they cost little or no money. And most people searching the Internet attribute a lot more trustworthiness to websites that rank high in the organic listings vs the paid listings.

By using these techniques, in well under one year, I've been able to make my site rank better than other websites in my industry that have been at it for ten years or even more!

In the longer term, you will want to optimize your site and work on getting backlinks to raise your ranking in the organic listings. Many people use link trading to promote ecommerce sites.

However, one-way backlinks are much more effective at raising your standings in the organic listings. I've been very successful at getting one-way backlinks and I've documented the steps that were taken to get tons of free traffic to my ecommerce site to make it successful by relying on article spooling.

Albert Weiss, the author, has written up how he gets a lot of free traffic to his site by relying on article spinning, as well as other effective SEO methods that you can employ yourself.
What It Is and How It Works - For those who are unfamiliar with the term, GPS stands for Global Positioning System. (...)

What It Is and How It Works - For those who are unfamiliar with the term, GPS stands for Global Positioning System. It's a method of finding a receiver anywhere on earth or in orbit, and it's probably one of the most important inventions of the 20th century. GPS has so many different applications that many technologies and ways of working are continually being improved in order to make the most of it. Now why is GPS so important and useful? First, we have to understand how it works.

In order to work, a satellite network orbiting the earth is used. These satellites each broadcast a specific signal, which is received by inexpensive aerials and passed on to GPS devices where it is then decoded and used by dedicated software. The information garnered from these signals allows the GPS software to identify the satellite, its specific location, and even calculate the exact time it took for the signal to travel from the satellite to the receiver. Using different signals from different satellites, the GPS software is able to calculate the position of the receiver.

Mapping It Out - Even getting the information about the receiver's location will be useless without something to compare it with. This is where the mapping comes in handy; thru this, GPS can analyze our location and maps out possible routes. Actually, the mapping data is what makes a GPS device expensive. It must be accurate and updated reasonably frequently.

There are several kinds of maps, and each is intended for different users with different needs. Road users, for example, require that their mapping data contains accurate information about the road network in the region that they will be traveling in, but will not require detailed information about the lie of the land. Hikers, however, might require a more detailed map about the local terrain, water spots, and tracks or trails, but they won't need extensive information about the road systems. On the other hand, sailors will need specific data about the sea bed, navigable channels, and other related information that will allow them to navigate safely.

And what about fishermen? They also use marine GPS to keep track of the movements of fish in real time and to predict where they'll be the next day. The advent of GPS fixing has also meant that co-operative fishing has become much easier, where several boats relay their locations to each other while they locate the best fishing waters. There are also GPS devices called 'fish finders', which combines GPS and sonar functions to track and store detailed fishing and maritime information.

Get Started with GPS - Consumers can avail of several GPS devices that are specifically designed for a variety of uses and functions. Sophisticated in-car GPS systems, which feature voice guiding, powerful dynamic route calculation, and the possibility to update the map from a CD, are now available. Then there are handheld GPS devices, such as those from Magellan and Garmin, which store a map inside, and are usually designed for outdoor use. They do not have detailed road information and the user has to find his own way from point A to point B without any route calculations.

A more recent solution has appeared on the market which uses the power of a PDA to run the actual GPS software. A GPS receiver can be easily attached to these devices, which makes them possibly the cheapest and easiest GPS receivers to use in the market today. Bluetooth technology has also started to make use of GPS, using a single PDA device wirelessly connected to several receivers.

There is quite a bit of literature that explains how to set up web pages for the best natural Search Engine Optimization (SEO). However, there is very little written on how to measure that success. (...)

There is quite a bit of literature that explains how to set up web pages for the best natural Search Engine Optimization (SEO). However, there is very little written on how to measure that success. Here are a few things you can do to see if that time was spent wisely.

When you advertise using a large list of keywords to bring traffic to your site, it's not feasible to track each one. It's much easier to pick a subset of the large list - the main keywords that are increasing sales - and track them.

Use the words that currently rank high for traffic and revenue in your PPC campaign. Then measure success by watching for words that climb or drop in search-engine rankings.

Revenue: Revenue is the most important thing to compare because it will give the most accurate results. However, it has to be done on an ANNUAL basis to determine exactly what part of your SEO campaign is working.

Since different times of the year have highs and lows, when you track annually, you get a better average and can then determine if the overall strategy is working.

It's a little more difficult to measure traffic. Your web site's Administrative Control Panel is the best resource. The graphs and charts on the back-end show monthly traffic, making it easy to compare current traffic to last year during the same time periods.

Be sure to take into account any special promotions that may have been done during that time that would skew the numbers. And, watch out for people who are pogo sticking!

Pogo-sticking is when a person jumps back and forth between different pages as they search for information. This usually occurs when a search is done, and the search engine results page (SERP) displays. The searcher then selects the result that looks like it will give the best answer and solve the problem. If the answer isn't on that page the person hits the "back" button, goes back to the SERP and tries again.

This can really skew your numbers because each time the visitor goes back and forth to pages within a web site, the statistical software on your server counts it as a page view. Sometimes it's good to get a lot of page views, and then again, sometimes it means that the visitor is not finding what they are looking for.

So, the next time you jump for joy when you view your statistics and see that your page is sticky, do a double check. If you have a lot of pages views from a small amount of visitors, you might want to take a look at your site's design and see if it is as user-friendly as it should be.

Unfortunately, when people pogo-stick you get the page views, but someone else might get the sale. Visitors who don't find what they're looking for in a reasonable time just pogo stick back to the SERP and go elsewhere.

Optimizing your pages for the search engines will always be important. But your entire web needs to be user friendly to visitors. Customer sales and satisfaction are the only things that matter for a well-managed SEO campaign to make the revenue it deserves.

Evelyn Grazini is a staff writer for the Affiliate Classroom Magazine.
