Within the next few weeks, VOM will provide medical checkups and any necessary treatment to four recently released Christian prisoners. The four men, who had been serving sentences of nine to 10 years each, were among 10,244 prisoners released in celebration of Vietnam's National Day on Sept. 2, 2011. One prisoner who was not released was 65-year-old Father Nguyen Van Ly. Father Nguyen received an eight-year prison sentence in 2007 but was released in March 2010 on medical parole after suffering three strokes. One year later, the government insisted that Father Nguyen return to prison, and on July 25, 2011, he returned to complete the remaining five years. Father Nguyen requires ongoing treatment for his health problems, which include a brain tumor and carotid atherosclerosis. Thank God for the release of the four Christians, and pray for their successful return to church and family life. Pray also for Father Nguyen's release and health.

Members of the leftist FARC guerrillas have prevented VOM evangelist "Rolo" from entering La Macarena region with items such as radios, Bibles and Christian books, as violence in the area increases. "Aside from closing churches, they are burning buses" that try to come to the region, a VOM worker in the region said. "There are other towns that have the same problem right now," our worker added. Please pray for believers in the region around La Macarena, that God will preserve their lives and give them courage.

Police beat and arrested a church leader in Khartoum recently, amid increasing harassment of Christians in Sudan following the 2011 secession of the largely Christian South Sudan. Evangelist James Kat of the Evangelical Church of Sudan was arrested Jan. 17 on charges of using church property as his home. He was released on bail the same day. In a Jan. 3 letter to leaders of the Sudanese Presbyterian Evangelical Church, Sudan's Ministry of Guidance and Religious Endowments threatened to arrest all pastors who carry out evangelistic activities and fail to provide contact information for church leaders. About 350,000 people, most of them Christians, fled to South Sudan after its secession, and Christianity is now regarded as a foreign religion in Sudan. Pray for the few remaining believers in the north.

INDONESIA -- Mob Attacks Mission Training School

A mission training school in Jonggol, West Java, Indonesia, was attacked by a Muslim mob after Friday prayers recently. The 84 attackers, who arrived on motorbikes, rushed into the school and searched each classroom and dorm room. They removed every picture of Jesus and told the school’s staff that the school must close. Thankfully, classes were not in session that day, and no students were on the premises. The mob was accompanied by several policemen and soldiers from a nearby military base. Neighbors also noticed that the attackers were not from the local community. The school was established in 1999 with the purpose of training evangelists to bless Indonesia, and it has always maintained a good relationship with its neighbors. Fearing a domino effect of future attacks, mission leaders said they will follow up on the case. They urged Indonesian Christians not to retaliate, but to remain calm and to pray. Pray that God will touch the hearts of the attackers, and pray for peace in Indonesia.

IRAN -- Christian Held in Solitary Confinement

Friends and family of a Christian father of two are calling for clarification of his case more than five months after he was sent to Tehran’s notorious Evin prison. Farshid Fathi, 32, has endured months of solitary confinement even though no court orders or instructions have been issued in his case. Farshid was detained by government security officials on Dec. 26, 2011, during a series of raids on Christians’ homes in Tehran. He was later transferred to solitary confinement in the 209th wing of Evin prison. According to Mohabat News reports, interrogators have used psychological torture in attempts to force Farshid to reveal details of Christian contacts. His wife and two young children -- Rosana and Barbod -- have been allowed to speak to him only once a week. Farshid’s family was forced to sell his father-in-law’s home in order to survive financially, and they have not been able to pay the bail to secure his release. Pray that God will enable Farshid to withstand this ordeal and endure the torture. Pray for comfort and financial help for his family.

LAOS -- Missionary Charged with Human Trafficking

A missionary to youth in Laos was recently charged with human trafficking. After 24 young people were detained while traveling to a Christian training conference in May, Brother K, a conference leader, went to the police station to seek their release. He was then arrested and charged with human trafficking, an offense that carries a fine of up to $6,000 and from 5 to 50 years in prison. Brother K denied involvement in human trafficking and invited the officers to visit the conference center to see what the students were being taught. Taken aback by his boldness and concerned that the offense would become known as a persecution case, police released the 24 students but detained Brother K. After bail was set, Brother K bargained to reduce the amount, and they agreed on an amount equal to three months’ wages. The youth held their training session at a hastily convened new location. Thank God for his protection of the students and for the boldness of their leader. Pray that Christian youth in Laos will passionately share the gospel with their neighbors.

Algeria—Seven Churches Face Closure—Compass Direct News

Seven churches in Algeria’s Bejaia province received notices on May 22 that they face closure because they have not registered with the government. The churches were warned that if they do not comply, authorities could use force. The governor of Bejaia, one of 48 Algerian provinces, also sent a statement to the president of the Protestant Church of Algeria informing him that all churches in Bejaia are illegal because they have not registered. Although the Bejaia churches have submitted the required registration documents, the government has not responded to their applications. Despite this intimidation, Christians plan to continue their services. “We expect that we may encounter the police,” said a church leader. Leaders say that some Christians have expressed fear, while others have questions. The Bejaia churches have mobilized their congregations to pray. Pray with them for all the churches and Christians in Algeria. Ask God to intervene especially in the Bejaia situation.

Pakistan—Millions Attend Religious Festivals—VOM Sources

Many Pakistanis attend Muslim, Hindu and Sikh festivals throughout the year. Several of these religious festivals attract up to a million visitors, and some who attend the Muslim festivals consider their attendance the equivalent of a hajj pilgrimage, one of the basic requirements of Islam. VOM-supported evangelists all over Pakistan aggressively share the gospel with people like those attending the festivals. Although their work is perilous, they continue on “with the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the prayers of all the VOM friends,” one evangelist writes. “Our main target is to give the gospel and the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ to win souls for him, and we have done it very faithfully.” Please pray that God will open the eyes of those attending the religious festivals and they will come to know the good news of Jesus. Pray also for the VOM-supported evangelists.

Uzbekistan—No Progress for Uzbek Prisoner of Faith—VOM Canada

Persecution against Christians in Uzbekistan increased last month — from raids to fines to literature confiscation — underscoring the need to remember the nation’s believers in prayer. Tohar Haydarov, 27, has been imprisoned since his arrest in March 2010 and is currently serving a 10-year prison sentence for the “illegal sale of narcotic or psychotropic substances in large quantities.” It is widely believed that the charges were fabricated as a means of punishing Tohar for his religious activity. At last report, he had appealed the prison sentence but there had been no indication of progress. Pray that comfort and peace will reign in Tohar as he suffers for his faith. Pray that he will be assured that he is not forgotten, but that he is loved and remembered by God and His people. Pray that the charges against Tohar will be dropped and that he will be released.

Lord, Only You Can Change Me

This devotional that I have started on is amazing so far. The first week was excellent and I would like to share the main points that I went over this past week.

First and foremost, the title of this book is so true. Lord, only you can change me . . . Only God can make the changes in us, in our hearts that need to be made to follow Him the way we should.

The Sermon on the Mount teaches us so much and I am just really beginning to understand that through this study. Heaven (or a synonym) is used 21 times and Righteousness is mentioned 5 times. Jesus wants us to understand Heaven and how to get there.

According to Kay Arthur, there are 4 requirements to enter the Kingdom of Heaven.
1. Poor in Spirit - Matthew 5:3
2. Persecuted for righteousness sake - Matthew 5:10
3. Righteousness that surpasses that of the Scribes and Pharisees - Matthew 5:20
4. Obey God's will - Matthew 7:21

As the study goes on we will get deeper into each of these requirements.

Matthew 5:20 says, "For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the scribes and pharisees, you shall not enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

At first, most of us tend to think "How can that be?". The scribes and pharisees were top dog back then. They were the ones who taught God's word to everyone. They were up held higher than others because they were God's people. How on earth could we possibly be that good?

Take a look at the scribes and pharisees . . . .they were not good guys! They twisted God's word so that it would work for them and their life style. There traditions were not biblical based at all. God lets us know that the scribes and pharisees were hypocrites in chapter 23 of Matthew. The appeared to live a certain way but that is not at all how they lived in their Hearts!

We MUST be better than them to truly follow God. It is impossible to live an ungodly life and follow God at the same time. To truly love and follow God, we change! It means that we are willing to change and live for God and the way that He wants us to, no matter what!

We must remember that Not everyone who calls on Jesus will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. See Matthew 7:21-23. It is not the drunks, thieves and such that Jesus called hypocrites, it is the believers in Christ!!

The awesome news is that it IS Possible to live a righteous life for God because if not, then He would of never told us to do so!! We are to strive more each and every day to be more like our Father in Heaven.

Not sure about you, but I know that for me it is time to make sure that I am doing that in every part of my life.

Glory to God!

I have been struggling for some time trying to decide exactly what direction to take Inspiration Korner (IK). I have been praying about it for some time. I try one thing and it just don't seem to be right, then I try something else and it doesn't seem right either. I have tried taking this site in several different directions for the past year or so trying to find what God wants me to do with it.

I think that God just wants me to bring Glory to Him and that is that. It might be through a devotional writing, a Bible study, a new song that I discover, or just my personal thoughts on a Bible verse, but no matter what it is about it will be bringing glory to the one true God.

I have started a new devotional book titled, "Lord, Only You Can Change Me: A Devotional Study on Growing in Character from the Beatitudes" and so far it is amazing. It goes through the Sermon on the Mount and explains the meaning of it all and what it should mean to us.

I am only into the book by a week so I really am just starting it. I will be sharing my thoughts and feelings and things that I learn as I go through this book. I am not going to promise a post every day but I will post at least 2 times a week. You just never know what those 2 posts might be about so make sure and sign up to follow me or subscribe!!

Three religious communities in Gyanja, Azerbaijan, have been banned from meeting for worship. The worship bans were imposed in mid-March because the communities do not have state registration. Local sources said one of the religious communities was warned that "if they met for worship on the following Sunday or at any future date they would all be arrested." Two buses full of police and riot police later arrived to prevent them from worshiping, but the church had already reluctantly canceled the Sunday service that day. The government, however, continues to deny its involvement in religious oppression. Babek Sadykov of the Gyanja Police said, "No one is being prevented from worshiping." And President Ilham Aliev told a government-initiated World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue that "freedom of religion and freedom of conscience have been fully established in Azerbaijan." EGYPT--Copts "Terrorized" by Gang

Since late January, Copts in Minya province have suffered repeated attacks from a large gang of thugs who target Christians. The first attack on a Coptic family occurred on Jan. 28. The family reported the assault to police but withdrew their allegations after receiving death threats from the gang. Then, on Jan. 29, the gang leader raped two Coptic women, threatening to kill their children if they took the matter to police. In another assault, gang members kidnapped a 30-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy; their families were forced to pay ransoms to secure their release. The gang has also reportedly imposed a nighttime curfew on Copts. Copts in Minya are dismayed that the police and army have not taken more decisive steps to detain gang members and their leader. Pray that authorities will take action to apprehend the gang members in Minya province.

CHINA--Pastor Arrested in Inner Mongolia

VOM contacts in China report that one of their dear friends, a pastor, was arrested in Inner Mongolia Tuesday, April 12. The pastor, Jesse, was arrested along with four other leaders. His "offense" is that 1,000 university students attend his church. About 100 of the university students are also Bible school students who are taught by a VOM worker. Police have detained Jesse five times over the last year, and they had warned him and let him know they were watching him. Pastor Jesse and the four others are being held in a detention center where prisoners are usually held for at least 30 days. It’s not known whether he will be formally sentenced. A friend wrote, "We sent some clothes [to Jesse] but were not able to meet and talk to him. Please pray. The situation here is so bad." Ask the Lord to encourage Pastor Jesse, and pray for his release. Pray that his church members will not falter in their faith but will grow stronger.

How Do You Welcome Church Visitor's?

When someone visits your church how do you treat them? When someone visits your church that is not the same nationality or come from a different background, how do you treat them? Think about that one before you answer, do you really treat them the same?

This is something that we should all think about and take a look at ourselves over. It is extremely important to realize that we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. If we have accepted Jesus as our savior, it does not matter where you come from or what you look like, we are ALL His children.

Unfortunately we do not always live by this. We do not always make those that are of other nationalities or different "class" feel welcome. Indian origin Christians in Britain have stated forming their own churches because the main-stream churches make them feel unwelcome. This is not acceptable. Do we really think that God would be proud of this? I seriously doubt it. We should love one another with open arms.

Ram Gidoomal, a prominent member of the Asian community and chairman of the South Asia Forum, told PTI that there were at least 200 such small churches founded by disenchanted Christians across Britain as a response to feeling of rejection. He said that there were nearly 75,000 Christians with Indian sub-continent in Brittan and many of them feel unwelcome in the churches there.

The Salvation Army started for this very reason. In 1852, William Booth, gave up his pulpit to walk the streets and spread God's word. Many people were saved because of him including prostitutes, thieves and drunks to name a few. His point was to help people find God and then send them to a good church.

The problem with that was that these people were not accepted in the churches. They did not wear the right clothes, they did not have enough money and they were not treated like another brother or sister in Christ, they were treated like outsiders. So they would complain to Booth and they preached on the streets. Eventually Booth ended up starting the Salvation Army Church so that people of any nationality or background would have a church were they could feel comfortable and welcome in.

So, next time you are at church and see someone walk in that you do not know; make it a point to talk to them, welcome them and make them feel welcome. No matter if they are the same race, background or nationality or totally different, make them feel welcome!

Christian Homeschool for Free

There are many things to take into consideration before deciding to homeschool your children. The most important is not things like money or your child’s socialization skills though. The most important thing to consider is time. Do you have enough time to devote to your child or children’s education?

Socialization skills is one of those things that almost anyone who don’t homeschool will ask about when you decide to home educate your children. Just because you homeschool, does not mean that you never get out of the house again. It does not mean that you are taking your kids out of society. You still have church groups and activities and there are amazing homeschool groups everywhere that offer tons of fantastic activities. I personally do not want my child learning all their socialization skills from a public school where kids are fighting and always in competition to be the best and where the might have a gun or knife pulled on them from someone their age or even younger. I don’t think so. That is not the socialization skills that I want my children to have. My children’s socialization skills have actually improved since I stared homeschooling them.

Now, I know many of you are saying . . . wait a minute . . . the money part is very important because homeschooling your children in very expensive. Well you are at the right place at the right time because I am going to tell you how you can give your children a good quality Christian Homeschool education for free or at least almost free.

Now you are saying, there is the catch . . . almost free. No, the reason that I say almost free is because there are always expenses such as pencils, pens, paper and things like that. If you like to print worksheets like I do, then you will have that small expense as well. Buying printer refills kits is fantastic for that and saves a ton of money.

There is one item that I do recommend you purchase though. A book called Home Learning Year by Year: How to Design a Homeschool Curriculum from Preschool Through High School This book is a fantastic book that will let you know what your child should know and learn during each school year. It is a fantastic guide and helps me with my homeschooling a lot. It will help you keep you children on the right track all throughout out their schooling.

So, how are you supposed to do this for free? The Library is a fantastic place to start. But you also have an entire world to explore where you will find a ton of material all for free and all from right where you are right now . . . the internet!

We all know how amazing the internet is and when it comes to Christian homeschool resources, it is no different. You can Google the word free homeschool worksheets and find a ton of great stuff to start with right there.

I homeschool my children for almost completely free and they are getting a great education. The only cost that I have is the normal’s items and as I said before I do print a lot of stuff but that is my choice, it is not always necessary but it is more convenient for me.

I search the interenet for all of our school materials and there are some fantastic sites out there that can help you with your entire curriculum for free. Using search terms that include the grade you are looking for makes searching so much easier. For example, let’s say you need to find lessons and worksheets for 4th grade history. A good search for this would be “history lessons grade 4”

I would like to share my personal favorite website that I use on a regular basis.

Math: Math is the one subject that I have been concerned about for my children because I am horrible at math. Khan Academy is an amazing place for math from the beginning through Calculus for free and Mr. Khan is an amazing teacher. You can find a ton of wonderful printable worksheets all over the internet for all stages of math for practice.

Science: High school Science is made easy through Khan Acadamey as well. He offers Biology, Chemistry, Physics and more. For elementary through Middle school, there are some fantastic resources all over the internet. Science is Fun is a great site and also has a section of some great easy, fun and cheap experiments you can try. Kids Biology is another site that I use often. If you need to study the weather, then Weather Wiz Kids is perfect!

History: High School history lessons and worksheets can be found at Andy’s American History, South Effingham High School and then you can find fantastic maps at David Rumsey’s Map Collection. For elementary and Middle school you can check out Lesson Corner

English: Guide to Grammar and Writing is a great site for all grade levels as well as edufind. I use spark notes for testing my high school student on books she reads and then I use Book Adventure for my younger student.

All Subjects: WatchKnow is an amazing site that offers a ton of great videos for students to learn from. Now these sites offer lessons plans and activities for more than one grade and subject. I love all these sites. Lesson Pathways is a great site that can help you from K-5th grade on every single subject. Super Teacher is great for finding worksheets. Discover Education is a fantastic site that offers lesson plans written by other teachers on all subjects and grade levels.

Bible: There are some excellent sites out there for Bible time. CBH Ministries if great for the younger kids and offers a daily devotional. Garden of Praise offers some excellent Bible studies. Bible Study Planet and Creative Bible Study are great as well.

Basically, if you can use a search engine, you will be able to find what you need to “teach” any subject at any age. There are an abundance of resources out there that are just waiting to help you give your child the Christina Homeshcool Education they deserve and that you want for them.

Live Cam of Amazing Eagle Family

Animal instincts have always been amazing to me. I just think it is awesome to watch animals care for their young and their families. Our cat just recently had kittens and she is an amazing mommy cat. I love watching her care for a love her babies. It is so cool how she just knows what to do and when to do it. I makes me just marvel at all of God’s creation and awesomeness!

The last few days I have been watching a Bald Eagle family on a live cam that is just simply amazing. I do wish that I would have known about this earlier though because I missed the chance to see the babies being hatched.

Today I was watching and got to see the mommy feeding the babies. After she finished feeing them, she began to tuck them under her feathers and keep them safe. A bit later she looked up and began to squawk and there was daddy. It was amazing to see him fly up and land in the nest. The mommy sat for a few seconds then she left daddy to care for the babies while she went out.

The daddy then sits and watches over the little ones. After a few minutes he begins working on the nest and making sure everything is nice and secure. He starts to eat on the nice meal mommy had waiting for him and feeding the little ones a little while he eats. Then he sits with the babies while he continues working to make sure the nest is in good shape.

Watching these Eagles has brought Psalms 91 to mind, especially verse 4, "He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.

Anyway, seeing things like that just make me think about how amazing God truly is and I just wanted to share a bit.

God's Word Stands Forever - Hide it in Your Heart

Isaiah 40:8 tells us that “The grass withers, the flower fades,

But the word of our God stands forever.”

I actually seen a poll of facebook today that put this post in my heart. It was asking “if the Bible were suddenly outlawed and you could only hide a single book of the Bible which book would you choose. It gave most of the books of the Bible to choose from.

In my personal opinion, I chose the Gospel of John. But then I got to thinking about God’s word always being forever and then felt that I should investigate further.

So let’s break down Isaiah 40:8 and what it all means.

“The grass withers, the flowers fade” is actually mentioned in verse 7 as well. This is just putting emphasis on this fact. Verse 7 says, “The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the LORD blows upon it; surely the people are grass.”

“Word of God”, is talking about the promises that God has made us. It does not necessarily mean that there will always be a Bible on this earth but His promises His promises will always be no matter what.

“Stand forever”, mean that God will always be firm in His word and His promises. This means that God’s word, His promises, will be forever and it will not change even as the world changes around it, God’s word will not change and it will stand forever.

This got me to thinking about the Bible itself. I thought what if every Bible was taken from every single person and burned and there was not one left. How many people would “know” scripture, would there be those people like who Denzel Washington played in the movie, “The Book of Eli”?

I know that I would not be one of those people, would you? So, I have a challenge to set forth for you. I challenge you to start memorizing scripture and making sure you take time to read your Bible every single day! Not only will it help us in our daily walk with our Lord God, but it will also allow us to truly have His word hid in our hearts! Psalm 119:11: "Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against you."

Adopted by God - Adoption in The Bible

In the book of Exodus we read the story of a Hebrew woman, Jochebed, who became pregnant during the time when Pharaoh had ordered that all Hebrew male infants were to be put to death. Jochebed did have a baby boy and feared for his life. So she made a basket that would float in the river and she put her baby boy in the basket in hopes that this would save his life. Indeed it did when one of Pharaoh's daughters found the basket and she later adopted him and called him Moses.

Now as most of us know, Moses went on to be an extremely faithful servant of the Lord and he done many wonderful and amazing things with God's help and Blessings! Then in the book of Esther we hear about a beautiful young lady that was adopted by her cousin and became a queen. But she was more than just a queen, she was a very important queen who God used to help save the Jewish people.

We also must not forget about our savior, Jesus Christ, who was raised by Joseph, His mother's husband. Although the scriptures do not say that Joseph actually adopted Jesus, Him and fathered Him. The most important adoption of all is the adoption that God offers us into His family.

The only thing that we have to do to be adopted into the most Royal, amazing and loving family of all is to give our hearts to Christ, believing and trusting in Him alone for salvation and eternal life.

Soul Surfer to Hit Theaters

This is a movie that I can not wait to see. This movie is based on a true story about a teen girl who loved to surf and thought she was born to do it. Then a shark attack leaves her with an amputated arm and a bunch of questions. This inspiring movie shows her trials during her recovery. The love of her parents and the support of her church youth leader help her to return to the water and surf once more.

NORTH KOREA--Gospel Balloon Launches Threatened--VOM Sources, AFP

In February, North Korea warned the South Korean government to stop allowing the launch of balloons that drop “propaganda” leaflets into its country. North Korea even threatened to open fire on locations in South Korea from which the balloons are launched. Some activists use balloon launches to drop political leaflets in North Korea, but VOM uses similar methods to send the gospel into North Korea. Because of North Korea’s threats, some South Koreans are now refusing to allow VOM partners to launch balloons from their neighborhoods. “We’ve decided to prevent the leaflet launch as it would make our hard life harder,” one of the district chiefs told AFP news agency. The balloon team asks for prayer that they will reflect Christ well as they continue to seek ways to send Christ’s message of hope into North Korea.

PAKISTAN--Cause of Christian Prisoner’s Death Questioned--VOM Canada, VOM sources

A Christian serving a life sentence on blasphemy charges has died under suspicious circumstances in Lahore. Qamar David, who was imprisoned in June 2006 after a business rival accused him of insulting the Prophet Muhammad, died on March 14, 2011. Initial autopsy reports seemed to confirm prison authorities’ claims that he died of a heart attack, but Qamar’s family believes he was killed. He was reportedly threatened and beaten regularly by prison guards and inmates during his almost five years in prison. Qamar’s son told VOM contacts that the family was too scared to attend the hearing at which the medical reports were announced.

Also in Lahore, 40-year-old Shaheen Bibi, a Christian mother of seven, was recently freed from her Muslim captors after being kidnapped last August. Shaheen had been drugged, raped, sold into marriage, and threatened with death if she did not convert to Islam. On March 6, a team managed to rescue Shaheen from her captors. She reported that at least 10 other women were in captivity with her. Thank God for her release. Pray that God will equip Pakistani Christians to be bold and gracious witnesses in an environment of severe opposition. Also pray for the repeal of Pakistan’s blasphemy law, which is often used against Christians.

SUDAN--Violence Precedes South Sudan’s Secession--Assist News Service

Violence has increased in south Sudan since the Jan. 9, 2011, Referendum on Southern Self-Determination. In February, the Sudan People’s Liberation Army (SPLA) clashed with forces of northern opposition figure Gen. Akhor, leaving 200 dead. Another 50 were killed in fighting between the SPLA and forces of Gabriel Tanginya, who is backed by Islamic Khartoum. In the north-south border region of Abyei, 100 Misseriya Arab militiamen and other Khartoum-backed forces massacred police and civilians. On March 2, 1,000 members of the militia attacked another Abyei village, killing 33. The violence has caused the displacement of 45,000 southern Sudanese--mostly women and children. Both the north and south are preparing for conflict. Please pray for the war-ravaged, predominantly Christian people of south Sudan.

"Children of God" by Third Day has a video to accompany the song now and it is a touching video indeed. The song uses adoption as a metaphor to teach that ultimately we are all adopted into God's family. The video shows footage of families who have adopted children, including the family of the lead vocalist Mac Powell, who recently welcomed adopted son Emmanuel and daughter Birdie. IndoctriNation: Documentary Film on Public Education

A new documentary called "IndoctriNation" has been created by Collin Gunn and his family that discus's the public eduction system in the United States. Gunn is a Scottish-born filmmaker, actor and homeschool father who lives in Texas with his wife and seven children.

Gunn and his family travel accress America in a big yellow school bus and they explore the education system. From the origins to what it is now. This documentary shows the effects of the public school system on students and their families, especially Christian.

"You can't fix the public schools,” he says, “but what you can do is go around them and not use them. So you can escape the system -- and it's a blessing to your family if you say [you] don't want the government near [your] kids, especially with the current administration and all that's going on with the wackiness with our teachers unions."

69 Churches Burned in Ethiopia, 10,000 Christians Displaced

I received an email from International Christian Concern and wanted to pass it along. So, I have copied and pasted it below. Please take the time to read this and help if you can.

On March 2nd, 2011, Muslims went on a rampage in an Islamic area of Ethiopia, beginning with an assault on churches in Asendabo.

ICC and others alerted the world and called on the Ethiopian government to intervene. Unfortunately, the local government did not intervene and the attacks continued for a week. When the smoke cleared, the damage was evident. The Muslims had burned down the homes of 30 Christian leaders, they had killed one Christian, wounded several others, and torched 69 churches, a Bible school, and a Christian orphanage.

One of the many wounded in these attacks was the grandson of a church elder who put himself in between the Muslim militants and his grandfather when they arrived to kill the elderly man. The Islamists attacked the young man with machetes - seriously wounding his head and hand and leaving him for dead. His family was forced to make a three-hour journey on foot to bring him to a hospital in a nearby city.

Earthquake and Tsunami Wreak Havoc: Paryer Concern

Japan was hit with an 8.9 earthquake on Friday, March 11, 2011 which was the largest in their history. The earthquake has triggered Tsunami's to hit Japan and cause indescribable damage. Homes, buildings, cars and everything in the path of the waves has been completely destroyed.

Here is some news footage if you have not already seen it.

Often times the first wave of a Tsunami that comes in will not be very strong but the they usually don't stop with just one wave of water. The waves can just keep coming in and getting stronger each time causing more and more damage.

Crecent City Harbors have been distroyed and there is also a radiation leak in Japan at one of their plants. We need to pray for all the people who are being affected by this as well as for each country being affected.

"Televangelist Rev. Jim Whittington promises a "big financial blessing" to those who sleep with a picture of Jesus and send donations to his World Deliverance Crusade ministry. But CBS Atlanta is asking questions about how that money is being spent, after it learned the preacher was jailed, convicted of stealing from a disabled widow."

Prayer 1: CHINA — Government Plans Increased Regulation of Christian Worship — VOM Sources, China Daily Newspaper

Bible Verse: Hebrews 13:18

Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, in all things desiring to live honorably.

The Chinese government is planning to tighten regulations on Christian worship this year, according to a report in an English-language newspaper in China. China’s State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) has announced that it will “guide Protestants worshiping at unregistered churches into worshiping at government-sanctioned ones.” A VOM source in China confirmed that during a detention in 2010, police told him they would stop being “nice” in 2011. The newspaper report also stated that “SARA will strengthen regulation of foreign nationals’ group religious activities in China and resist foreign infiltration under the pretext of religion.” This new policy could mean increased persecution of Christians in China, especially those who worship in unregistered churches. Christians faced similar pressure from the government before the 2008 Olympics, when Christians were detained, forced from their homes and put under house arrest. Pray that Chinese Christians are spiritually prepared for this fresh wave of persecution and that it will not intimidate new believers.

Prayer 2: ETHIOPIA — Muslims Warn Christians to Convert, Leave or Die — VOM Canada

Bible Verse: 1 Timothy 4:10

For to this end we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe.

Muslims in the city of Besheno posted notices on the doors of Christians’ homes warning them to convert to Islam, leave the city or face death. Three Christian leaders were forced to flee the city and two Christians were forced to convert to Islam. Other Christians have been harassed and physically abused since the notices were posted. The Christian community in Besheno consists of only about 30 believers, and Christians there have been targeted by Muslims for many years. Evangelist Kassa Awano remains in critical condition after Muslims attacked him on Nov. 29, 2010. A few days after the attack, nearly 100 Muslims surrounded a vehicle carrying Christian leaders who were on their way to negotiate for peace with Muslim leaders. Two men, Tesema Hirego and Niggusie Denano, were seriously wounded in the attack, and the other Christian leaders suffered minor injuries. On Jan. 2, Muslims assaulted Temesgen Peteros with a knife after he testified against the Muslim attackers in court. Pray that God will enable Christians in Besheno to share the gospel boldly and lovingly. Pray that their persecutors will come to know Christ’s love through the lives of the Christians.

Prayer 3: INDONESIA — Mob Attacks Churches Over Court Decision — Release International

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem:

“May they prosper who love you.

A Muslim mob in Temanggung, Indonesia, attacked three churches last week after a Christian convicted of blasphemy received a sentence they thought was too lenient. About 1,500 Muslims threw stones at police and chanted “kill, kill” as they broke courthouse windows and burned vehicles. The rioters then targeted several churches in the area. The Indonesia Bethel Church, two kilometers from the courthouse, was badly burned, damaging part of a kindergarten on the property and six motorbikes. The Temanggung Pentecost Church was also burned as the mob chanted “burn, burn!” The Church of St. Peter and Paul was vandalized, and its leader, Pastor Saldhana, was badly beaten, according to Release International. Release also reported that a church-run orphanage and medical center were destroyed in the violence. Pray for the congregations and Christian workers affected by the violence, and pray that peace will be restored in Temanggung, Central Java.

INDONESIA — West Java Authorities Try to Prevent Christmas Service — Compass Direct News

Government officials in West Java tried unsuccessfully to prevent the Indonesian Christian Church, or GKI, in the city of Bogor from holding a Dec. 25 Christmas service. Bona Sigalingging, a spokesperson for the church, said police telephoned church leaders and told them to cancel Christmas services that were scheduled for 7 p.m. Christmas day. The church worshiped anyway, with nearby Muslim demonstrators screaming, “Allahu akbar [God is great]!” and “Break it up!” The next morning, authorities prevented the Christians from holding their regular Sunday service. In a separate incident on Dec. 19, a local hard-line Muslim group persuaded police to remove items such as pews from a Huria Kristan Batak Protestant church in Rancaekek, Bandung. That church had already been closed by authorities. Thank the Lord for the faithfulness of Indonesian Christians who continue to meet in spite of severe opposition. Pray that they will be greatly encouraged by seeing the Lord’s continued work in strengthening the church and adding to its numbers.

ERITREA — Scores of Christians Arrested in Church Raids — Release International

Psalm 119:15–16

I will meditate on Your precepts,

And contemplate Your ways.

I will not forget Your word.

More than 100 Christians have been detained since Dec. 30 in raids on churches in or near the capital, Asmara, and in the town of Nakfa in eastern Eritrea. In a Dec. 31 raid on the Philadelphia Church in Asmara, all 41 members present were arrested and taken in for questioning. They were also beaten at the police station. On Jan. 1, 27 more Christians belonging to various churches near Asmara were taken into custody and are reportedly still being held by police. On Jan. 9 in Nakfa, 35 believers, including two elderly men in poor health, were arrested during a worship meeting at a private address. The Eritrean church has been further shaken by the news that another Christian has died in custody. Seble Hagos Mebrahtu, who was 27, died at the Sawa military camp on Jan. 1, apparently because she was refused medical treatment for malaria. She is reported to have been tortured after being found reading a Bible at her home. Her death brings to 16 the total number of Christians known to have died in custody since 2002. Pray that Eritrean Christians will persevere in faith and continue to glorify God while enduring this harsh persecution.

PAKISTAN — Turmoil Surrounds Asia Bibi Blasphemy Case — VOM Sources

Psalm 4:8

I will both lie down in peace, and sleep;

For You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Asia Bibi’s blasphemy conviction has caused turmoil and debate not only over the resulting death sentence but also over the blasphemy law itself. Asia, a poor Christian woman, was accused by her co-workers of blasphemy and sentenced to death by the courts. Her case sparked debate across Pakistan about the validity of the law, which prohibits speaking against the Prophet Muhammad or the Quran. The governor of Punjab province, who supported Asia Bibi and called for repeal of the law, was murdered by his own body guard. Asia’s life is also at risk. The VOM team in Pakistan is concerned for her safety both in prison and also as she moves between the prison and the courthouse for hearings. Asia’s family is in danger, too, and our team helped move them to a safe, secret location. Her husband and children are very worried about her. Pray for Asia’s safety and for the safety of her family. Pray that the blasphemy law, which is often used against Christians in Pakistan, will be repealed.

LAOS—Villagers Destroy Christians’ Rice Fields—VOM Sources and Compass Direct News

Psalm 61:4

On Sunday, Dec. 26, officials and residents of Katin village destroyed the rice paddies of 11 Christian families. The families have been camped on the edge of the jungle since they were expelled from the village one year ago because of their faith. Since their expulsion, seven other families have decided to follow Christ. Village officials told the new converts that they, too, would be expelled unless they gave up their faith. The seven families refused and were kicked out of the village at gunpoint. They joined the other Christian families outside the village. A few days later, while the believers were worshiping in a temporary shelter, residents of Katin drained the water from the Christians’ rice paddies, burned fencing around their farmland and stomped on rice seedlings to ensure it could not grow. The 18 families now have nothing to eat, and authorities have done nothing to help them. Pray that God will provide the newly expelled believers with food, clothing and shelter. Pray also that their firm commitment to Christ will cause their persecutors to want to know him, too.

EGYPT—Bomb Kills 21 Outside Church in Egypt—VOM Canada and The New York Times

Then he called for Moses and Aaron by night, and said, “Rise, go out from among my people, both you and the children of Israel. And go, serve the LORD as you have said.

At least 21 people were killed and 100 wounded on Jan. 1, when a bomb exploded outside a Coptic church in Alexandria, Egypt. The explosion occurred as churchgoers were leaving a New Year’s Eve service at the Church of the Two Saints. Witnesses reported that a driver parked a car near the entrance of the church, then ran away seconds before it exploded. No one has claimed responsibility for the bombing. Attacks against the minority Coptic Christian community have increased greatly in the last two years. Last January, several Coptic Christians were killed by a gunman as they left church. Pray that all Christians in Egypt will remain firm in their faith, even as opposition against them grows. Pray that these attacks will cause Copts to welcome Christian converts from Islam into their churches and better understand their unity in Christ.

NORTH KOREA—North Korean Defectors Shot in China—VOM Sources

Five North Koreans were shot to death and two others wounded by North Korean border guards as they tried to flee the country. The seven crossed the frozen Yalu River into China on Dec. 14. They were pursued by North Korean border guards, who shot them after they had reached the Chinese side of the river. The two wounded North Koreans were taken back to North Korea. Border guards have never before shot a defector inside Chinese territory, and this incident may reflect a change in policy toward defectors. Observers say border guards must have new instructions. Please continue to pray for Christians in North Korea and China, as well as all North Koreans who suffer under an incredibly harsh regime.

The Pencil Maker took the pencil aside, just before putting him into the box. There are 5 things you need to know, he told the pencil, before I send you out into the world. Always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best pencil you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in Someone's hand.

Two: You will experience a painful sharpening from time to time, but you'll need it to become a better pencil.

Three: You will be able to correct mistakes you will make.

Four: The most important part of you will always be what's inside.

And Five: On every surface you are used on, you must leave your mark. No matter what the condition, you must continue to write.

The pencil understood and promised to remember, and went into the box with purpose in its heart.

Now replacing the place of the pencil with you; always remember them and never forget, and you will become the best person you can be.

One: You will be able to do many great things, but only if you allow yourself to be held in God's hand. And allow other human beings to access you for the many gifts you possess.
