When you hear the idea of improving the world, you normally think about fighting world hunger, finding a solution to war, or solving the global warming crisis among other things. It’s not to say that these issues should be ignored, the point that I am trying to make is that before taking on these audacious goals one must start at the source of the driving force. It is here where the journey towards improving the world must begin. There are a plethora of people in the world that want to make a difference, yet they haven’t made an effort to value and understand the most important place in world, which exists within each and every one of us.

“There’s only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.” Aldous Huxley

A person’s personal development is an area that is critical when pursing goals such as improving the world. What I find interesting about this concept is the detachment between a person and their surroundings. You normally don’t think of improving the world as an introspective journey, instead it is seen as an external experience that doesn’t involve the self. When in reality it has everything to do with it. I began to understand this concept during my conflict and communication class in college, when my professor lectured on the subject of dealing with negative people. She explained that if you wished to change the behavior of those around you must start by changing the way you behave within yourself. It seemed to me like an oxymoron at first but as began to think about it more and more it started to make sense. Rather than dealing with your external surroundings which in this case would be the people around you, you would divert your attention towards yourself instead. By doing this you gain full responsibility and control of the situation around you. This creates a sense of empowerment and control that is needed when taking on big endeavors; it is the most important prerequisite before taking the first step into the world. What’s your take?

Someone asked me what advice I would give to help them ensure that they would be a success. I said there is no sure success, but….

There is a maxim which has been stated to cadets at West Point: Risk more than others think is safe; Care more than others think is wise; Dream more than others think is practical; Expect more than others think is possible.

Imagine living your life this way. It’s the way I mentor my colleagues – be they teachers, managers, or business partners.

Risk more than others think is safe

Nothing worthwhile in life is risk free. Some of the most rewarding experiences or outcomes entail the most risk. Risk can be at minimum emotional, financial, intellectual or physical. Risk isn’t equal to recklessness. Risk creates discomfort, but should not create abject fear.

Risk encompasses failure. Failure is a fact sometimes. It is not a judgment. It is merely the facts trying to tell you to change your approach.

Accomplishment with risk is exhilarating. Thomas Paine said : “What we obtain too cheap, we esteem to lightly.” He was speaking of America’s fight for Independence during the revolutionary war. Now there was a risk. And the reward was dear.

Care more than others think is wise

Caring about the end and the means, about the people you help (or may hurt) along the way really drives you to do the best possible job. It helps you to perform to your peak ability. A friend once told me I spend too much time focused on finding the right way to do things. What other way is there? Care about the quality of what you do. And care about the people you do it with (and to, and for). Personally. Deeply. Revel in their success.

Dream more than others think is practical

“It can’t be done” or “It can’t be done now” or “that won’t work” or “you have your head in the clouds” are all off point.

Nothing new ever came into being except through dreams. Einstein. Gates. Jobs. Lincoln. Now there are dreamers.

Of course it can be done, and what better time than now? Who will find the way? The person with their head in the clouds, dreaming up the solution, focused on the future, not wed to the past. And with their feet on the ground, so that when the vision is clear, they can take off running – ahead of the pack and ahead of their time.

“I have a dream.” He certainly did, and look where we are now.

Expect more than others think is possible.

Start with yourself. Weight loss? Financial success? Work effort? Quality? Fitness? Enjoyment? Always set the bar high. Then do so for others who are your colleagues, partners, students, children – whomever. With compassion, but with an expectation of performance or achievement. Show by your example how to get over that bar.

One last thought. My hero, my father, always told me “your word is your bond.” Once given, follow through. If you get knocked down, dust yourself off and persevere. But never go back on your word.

Look in the mirror, right now, and give yourself your word – to live by these words.

Tolerance and compassion along with love are necessities, not luxuries. I believe that without them, humanity can not strive toward conscious evolution and spiritual consciousness. The act of having a strong caring for anothers happiness and well-being, we have to possess an altruistic attitude in which we take upon ourselves the act of genuinely helping others. An awareness spirituality that is awake and in touch with others well being.
In order to have this attitude and approach we must be compassionate. Caring about the suffering of others and willing to do something in order to make their lives even an iota better. In order to have such a strong force of compassion, one must have a strong sesne of love, where upon observing others, wishes they would have happiness as well. You must m ake your decisions in life based on love and not fear.

Deep down, we should all have affection toward one-another. A clear realization and understanding that we all share the same human status. Conscious eveolution as a people will not occur unless we approach it with a deep feeling of sameness in all of humanity – no matter your spirituality, religion or approach. Start right now with clarity, awareness spirituality and by setting personal goals.

Each and every day is a brand new opportunity to leave negative attitudes and emotions behind and create a new outlook on your life. After all, its your life and the choice is yours.

Take a moment and write down anything negative or counterproductive, then tear up or burn the paper(carefully) and leave it in the past for good. You are now free to start making healthy, new plans for a life of true happiness and abundance – all based on a strong level of love and self worth. Once you have succesfully released the old, you must enter with an invigorated commitment to reign in the new. This is an opportunity to upgrade all levels of consciousness.

Physically, you can start by improving your diet. Eat real living, healthy foods that are alkaline such as fruits, veggies, legumes and nuts. Drink more purified water and start exercising at least 30 min a day, 5 days a week. You can improve your emotional well being by choosing to surround yourself with the right people who are positive and uplifting. Commit to reading at least one book a week and to watching less television. Strengthen your faith no matter what it might be, take more walks and get in touch with the beauty of the world we live in. Volunteer and do some good outside of your own realm. Its important to remember that in giving we receive. You can also learn to meditate. I will post some easy meditations for beginners in tomorrows edition.

Once you have eliminated the negative and commited to the new, you will find yourself reaching new heights of true peace and fulfillment. You will now bw ready to move forward towards mastery of your physical path.

How To Create An Unbreakable Mindset

It was a Monday that I would never forget. I was 10 years old; I played football for the Pancake Panthers. Our coaches were not happy about our loss last Saturday and decided that there would be a lesson learned on this day.

None of us knew what was in store for us. We had finished a hard practice highlighted with whistles blowing, pads popping and coaches yelling but mostly with coaches yelling. As I looked over to say something to my buddy, Chris Leeper, the coaches turned and walked towards “THE HILL.” I stopped what I was saying and began jogging toward the monster.

THE HILL was no ordinary hill. To our 10 year old legs it was more like Mount Everest with knee-high briars and thorns. At the end of each and every practice the entire team would march down the long path in full pads and run up one time. Let me repeat that – we ran up ONE TIME. This day was different. I was the first one up and cheered on my team mates as they pushed with all their might. Then our coach, who I swear was either 8 months pregnant or just really fat in one spot, shouts, “Another ONE!!!”

Little did I know that we would run FIVE Hell Hills that day!

After that practice, I became enthralled with the workings of the human body and mind. There was a point where my muscles could no longer contract yet by not wanting to let my team mates down I kept pushing and grew stronger. Something changed but it was not my muscles, it was my mind. This triggered me into action. I soon made it my mission to learn all that I could to master my mind and achieve massive success in all areas of my life.

Today I have the great fortune of working with some of the most powerful minds on the planet. It is 1:36 p.m. and I have trained a three-time World Boxing Champion, a Super Bowl Champion, and Sylvia Ferrero, a cover model and national champion Women’s Tri-Fitness competitor. Later today, I will train a corporate executive who is in my opinion the greatest business leader in the country. All of these people have influenced and inspired me to another level. They possess what I call an “UNBREAKABLE” mindset.

un·break·a·ble (?n-brâ’k?-b?l)
adj.

Impossible to break; able to withstand rough usage:

Able to withstand an attempt to break.

This is a mindset where no one or nothing can faze you. A flat tire becomes a minor inconvenience. Harsh words and negativity from others are like throwing pebbles at a tank. You become bullet-proof, impenetrable to outside forces.

You are in complete control and you do not have to wait. This mindset can be developed by anyone at anytime.

WARNING

It is not permanent.

Much like a muscle, if you do not challenge your mind, then it will grow soft and weak.

However, if you consistently and relentlessly challenge it then it will emerge stronger and more powerful with greater ability to overcome adversity and rein triumphant.

3 POWERFUL STEPS to MASTER YOUR MIND and Become UNBREAKABLE

I. DECIDE exactly what you want

Abraham Maslow, a legendary psychologist, introduced the six basic human needs. One of those human needs is the need and desire to grow and achieve. Most of the world’s population, squander their time on meaningless activities like television, surfing the internet or gossiping about others. If you want to live greatly then you must define what you want. For example, I train a fashion designer who came to me and threw an explosion of words my way, “Billy, I want to lose this (holding his gut)! I want to see my chest. I want it to be muscular. I never had a chest. I used to be an athlete – I want to look like that again…” He went on and on and he still does before each session. He knows exactly what he wants and he holds a clear picture of his future self in his mind. This is a trait of a super achiever.

What you see in your mind

and

what you constantly think about

is what you become.

II. VISUALIZE with intense desire (that borders on complete obsession.)

Obsession is a word that many people regard as a bad thing, as negative. I do not agree and you must do the same if you are to become UNBREAKABLE. In order to achieve any type of great change including physical change then it is imperative that you create and hold a constant vision of what you desire. You must see it and feel it.

When I was going into my senior year in high school, I was not the most talented athlete and had only started one game my entire varsity career. I wanted to be great and would stop at nothing to get what I wanted. I read a book on sports psychology and followed the instructions without fail. I set five goals for the upcoming season.

To be named captain of the team

To beat our cross-town rivals who we had not beaten in over a decade

To make the play-offs for the first time in 14 years.

To be awarded First Team All-Conference

To arouse interest from college coaches and play football at the collegiate level

In addition to my extremely intense conditioning program and rigid eating strategy, I implanted a mental conditioning protocol where I visualized myself as having already achieved my goals. So vivid were the “movies in my mind” that I really believed that I was actually living it. I would feel my heart rate increase and a warm, burning sensation course through my veins.

To take this a step further I studied films of our opponents, breaking down each formation and looking for tendencies. Then I found an old cassette recorder. With this device, I recorded my own voice as if I was the announcer of the game. Of course, we always won and I always played my “perfect game”. Each night before I went to sleep I would put on my head phones and listen to the recording. These tapes served as a valuable visualization tool. By the time, the game arrived I felt as if we had already won and it was only a matter of showing up. As you may have guessed, I achieved all of my goals. It was not by accident. This was by design. I had always wanted to excel in sports yet it wasn’t until I trained my mind and my body together that I was able to do so.

III. UNLEASH HELL on your goals.

This step is where most people fall short. I have known hundreds of people who wrote out there goals in their fancy leather planners and are always on the go yet they are in the same place. Albert Einstein once said, “Never mistake motion with action.” A lot people are busy. Yet being busy is not the goal. You must take specific actions towards the goal. I am not going to elaborate here just for the sake of taking up space. This is the point of doom for many. There are hundreds, if not thousands of books and programs on how to overcome procrastination. Those books and programs are for losers. Maybe that is harsh but let’s think about it. Here is someone who is putting their life on hold. So the answer is to do what? Read a book about it? No, the answer is to ATTACK! Decide what you want. Then see and feel what it will look like once you have it. Do this always and really feel it! Then do whatever it takes to get it. Take Action! Unleash Hell! Be Relentless…never, never, never quit!

Let these words drive you to success:

“I will act now. I will act now. I will act now.
Henceforth, I will repeat these words each hour,
each day, everyday, until the words become as
much a habit as my breathing, and the action
blinking of my eyelids. With these words I can
condition my mind to perform every action necessary
for my success. I will act now. I will repeat these
words again and again and again. I will walk
where failures fear to walk. I will work when
failures seek rest. I will act now for now is all
I have. Tomorrow is the day reserved for the labor
of the lazy. I am not lazy. Tomorrow is the day
when the failure will succeed. I am not a failure.
I will act now. Success will not wait. If I delay,
success will become wed to another and lost to
me forever.
This is the time.
This is the place.
I am the person.”

-Og Mandino

My part is done.

You now possess the answer.

It is in your hands.

If you are of the mindset that if you start thinking that a Porsche is going to appear in your driveway simply because you put up some pictures on a wall or have been repeatedly thinking Porsche beautiful Porsche, then prepare to be disappointed. Contrary to what you saw in THE SECRET, you actually have to do something in exchange for what you are trying to manifest in your life. The only guarantee from the universe is that you must first be willing to give in order to be open to receive. It will take proper planning, setting personal goals as well as the proper metaphysics consciousness.
You must be willing to get organized, make the sacrifice and do the dirty work. 99% of success is perspiration. Those willing to sweat reap the benefits. That being said, you must love what you do and take pride in your personal evolution. At the same time, its vital that you learn and continue to train yourself to manifest wealth in your mind. Manifesting wealth with your mind is important in gaining abundance. If you think like a poor person, you will become or remain that way. If you think like someone who knows wealth and who has experienced abundance, then your chances of acquiring riches are magnified ten fold.

It’s all about mind over matter. What you think about most of the time will be reflected in what actually happens to you by giving you clarity thereby making you actually do it. So if you want to manifest true abundance, think in those terms, get organized, work hard and watch a miracle happen.

It’s an intense craving for the person they adore. But just how does the brain process romantic love?

Anthropologist Helen Fisher, author of “Why We Love,” studied the brain circuitry that makes falling in love the intense, passionate emotion it is. She found that the brain sees romantic love as a reward, stimulating activity in the same areas that light up when a person seeks any kind of a reward, whether it’s chocolate, money or drugs.

“It became apparent to me that romantic love was a drive — a drive as strong as thirst, as hunger. People live for love, they kill for love, they die for love, they sing about love,” Fisher said.

“There are myths and legends about love. The oldest love poetry is over 4,000 years old. The world is littered with all kinds of artifacts that stem from this basic mating drive.”

Fisher went on a quest to unravel the mystery of the brain in love. She teamed up with Art Aron, a psychologist and professor at Stony Brook University in New York and Lucy Brown, a professor in neurology and neuroscience at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York.

They studied 17 people who recently had fallen madly in love — people who were spending 80 percent of their waking hours not being able to think of anybody else. The subjects had been in love an average of seven months.

The findings were published last year in the Journal of Neurophysiology.

For the study, Fisher developed a questionnaire about passionate love, including such questions as “Would you die for your partner?” She said she was shocked by the answers to that query: All of the subjects said they would.

What especially surprised her was the casual way in which they responded.

The participants were put into an MRI machine and asked to stare at photographs of their sweethearts and then neutral photos that called for no positive or negative feelings. When the researchers were able to look inside the brain in love, they said they were struck by the results.

The part of the brain that lit up the strongest was that associated with rewards and pleasure, a finding not nearly as poetic as romantics would have thought. It turns out that, to the brain, love is just another reward, much like chocolate or money, or like a drug to an addict. This brain system gets used every time you want something.

Romantic love, it turns out, is a reward, the researchers say.

“We certainly think of romantic love as something that’s magical, and the magic is here and here,” Brown said, pointing to the part of the brain that lit up during the experiment, the brain stem region known as the ventral tegmental area. There, pigmented cells known to contain dopamine send messages to a part of the brain called the caudate nucleus.

When Brown started the study, she said she thought she was studying a strong positive emotion.

“Now I have changed the way I think about early-stage romantic love,” she said. “It’s a motivation; the person [we're in love with] is a goal. Emotions come and go. We feel euphoria, but we feel anxiety, too. This core system that is driving the person who is in love toward their sweetheart, that is much more important in a sense than an emotion.”

Aron added, “When you’re intensely in love, and especially if it’s being reciprocated, there is an incredible sense of exhilaration. You feel this person is the most wonderful person in the world, and if they were part of you — if you were together — your life would be perfect.”

Fisher agreed: “Romantic love is not only an emotion, it’s a basic mating drive, and it’s stronger than the sex drive.”

Although the early characteristics of romantic love don’t last forever — the pounding heart, the obsessive thinking and craving — in good relationships they will transfer to a different level, a stage of love called “attachment,” Fisher said.

In her own studies of more than 800 people older than 45, Fisher found that they showed just as much romantic passion as those under 25.

In fact, romantic love can be triggered at any age. Fisher said she interviewed an 8-year-old boy who perfectly described his intense passion for an 8-year-old girl. She said she also knows couples in their 70s and 80s who are madly in love.

When asked if placing love under a microscope takes away some of the mystery and romance, Fisher smiled.

“You can know every ingredient in a piece of chocolate cake, and you still sit down and eat that chocolate cake and it’s wonderful,” she said. “In the same way, you can know all the ingredients of romantic love and still feel that passion.” Source article

Many people have a very negative attitude with regard to exercise. Therefore, will never even begin a real exercise routine. I can’t begin to tell you how many times Ive heard someone say. ” I hate exercising, so I will never even do it” That is self sabatage 101. There has to be a shift in attitude.

Everyone is aware of the outright benefits of exercising. Similar to the benefits or proper nutrition, people rarely follow their conscience. Why then, knowing the facts do people delay the start of a good exercise regimen?

The key is to come up with a plan. First, write down all the benefits of exercising so that you tap your awakening spirituality and gain clarity. Secondly, the key to getting into the groove is to simply start and then do it for 21 straight days. It takes 21 days to kill a bad habit or conversely to start a new good habit. This is about setting goals and remaining mindful.

Once you are in the exercise groove, you will notice instant self esteem improvement as well as an increase in your personal motivation. If you are striving for a healthy mind, body and spirit – then exercise is vital to your goal. Start now, its never too late.

Research proves that you will LIVE LONGER if you laugh. A seven-year, 54,000-person study concluded people with a sense of humor have a 70% greater chance of surviving cancer, and a Loma Linda University medical researcher even calculated precise chemical changes. (Laughter increased human growth hormone by 87%, which optimizes immunity.)

Laughter also increases T cells in the immune system while reducing arterial stiffness and blood pressure, and one author suggests “for every minute of laughter you produce somewhere around $10,000 worth of healthy body chemistry.” Lee Im-seon, laughter therapist at Seoul National University Hospital, even claims “the hormones secreted when people laugh are known to alleviate pain 200–300 times better than morphine.”

Amazing how much funnier everything is when your life depends on it — but watch out. One man died while laughing at the movie A Fish Called Wanda. And in 1962, three schoolgirls in Tanzania started laughing and couldn’t stop. “Sent home, they transmitted their hysteria to the neighboring villages of Nshamba and Kanyangereka. The epidemic lasted six months. One thousand people were infected and fourteen schools were closed. Western psychologists categorize the plague as ‘Mass Psychogenic Illness.’”
