Hello Everyone!!! There are only THREE WEEKS to the Papercraft Expo in Brisbane, can you believe it??? How many of you are coming?? If you are coming, make sure you pop by the Copic/X-press It Stand (No.31) and say hello!!! :)

Create a card in A6 size (when folded) coloured using your favourite Copic colours to take us ‘somewhere over the rainbow.’ All cards will be on display at the Brisbane Papercraft Expo.

A Colourful Catch

Hello Everyone!!! Yes, it's the dreaded MAN CARD!!! I know many of you will be preparing for Father's Day (here in Australia, that event doesn't occur until September), so today's tutorial on the Flourishes Blog shows how I coloured this hat and reel image from the What a Catch stamp set.

There has been some shuffling, but you can now find my Copic tutorials on the Flourishes Blog every Second Monday as part of their Create with Me Monday posts, I'd love it if you stopped by!! :)

The card itself is made of a base of Pear Bazzill, layered with Kraft, Chocolate Chip and some Kaisercraft Up, Up and Away DP. Over this is a piece of striped grosgrain ribbon. The image has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics. This has been cut out with Small Oval Nestabilities and matted with Chocolate cut with Large Oval Nestabilities and then matted again with more Up, Up and Away DP cut with Labels 17 Nestabilities. The sentiment, also from What a Catch has been stamped in black in each corner of the Label. To finish I've added a few Kasiercraft Pewter Pearls to the top corner.

For today's card, I've chosen Bird and Butterfly Labels which matches the Spellbinders Labels 18 Nestabilites to showcase as part of the ODBD Spellbinders Compatible Sets.

I've used a base of yellow bazzill and layered with white, aqua and some MME Howdy Doody DP. Across this is a piece of white punched with the Woodland Branch Punch and topped with more MME DP. Around this I've also added a piece of white satin ribbon. The label has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black, die cut with Labels 18 Nestabilities, airbrushed (still in the die) with Copics (Y35, R02, BG72) and coloured the butterflies with Sand Spica. I've tidied up and airbrushing outside the lines with my Colorless Blender and stamped the sentiment from the Sentiment Collection. It's been popped up on a layer of yellow cut with Labels 23 Nestabilites. Between these two layers is a ZVA pearl flourish and finished with a bow.

The Beauty of a Garden

I've made my card on a base of aqua bazzill and layered with yellow, a piece of Very Vanilla and some Prima Sun Kiss DP. Down one side is another piece of Sun Kiss matted with more aqua and wrapped with yellow grosgrain ribbon. The sentiment, my New Zealand friends will notice, is a Maori Proverb from Sunflowers and has been stamped directly on the checked Sun Kiss paper, cut with Large Oval Nestabilities and framed with Vanilla cut with Floral Oval Nestabilities. The large Sunflower image also from Sunflowers stamp set, has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics (Y21, Y35, Y38, R35, R37, G20, G21, G24, G28, YR24, E33), cut out and popped up on foam tape. I've finished by adding a bow and a few Yellow Pearls.

Special Day Hydrangeas

Hello Everyone!!! As you probably know, this week (and Monday next week), the team are showcasing the JustRite Papercraft May Release and so far I've been making Masculine Cards......but TODAY, I got to go all girly with the new Botanical Medallions and Banners set!!! *Happy Sigh*

Is this pretty or what??!!! I've paired it with an older background stamp - Ticking Stripe Background which I thought would be perfect with these stamps. :)

I've used a dark purple bazzill base and layered with light purple, white, Bo Bunny Ambrosia DP (which I've sewn around the edge....always a scary thing when I drive the sewing machine!) and attached some Lavender Silk Ribbon from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. Next I've stamped the Hydrangeas from Botanical Medallions and Banners in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card coloured with Copics (BV000, BV11, BV34, BV17, C3, C5, G20, G21, G24, G28) and cut out. Next I stamped the medallion image, cut it out with the matching Nested Oval Medallion Labels Dies and airbrushed some Y32 over it. The Banner image has also been stamped and cut out (it would have been quicker and easier with the new Vintage Labels and Banner Dies......but mine are still swimming across the Pacific) and lightly coloured with BV0000, BV000, BV11 Copic Markers. I've popped both the banner and the hydrangeas up on foam tape over the label. Next I've cut two sizes of Fleur de Lis Squares out of purple and then cut a piece of white card to fit inside the biggest one and stamped the Ticking Stripe Background in Memento Cantaloupe on it. I've attached all the panel pieces together and glued it to the middle of the card front and finished by adding a silk bow and a few Kasiercraft Snow Pearls to the corners.

Going a Little Vintage

Hello Everyone!!! It's more JustRite goodness today as we showcase yet more of the May Release!! Today I'm using Going Places Vintage Labels and matching it up with the Cozy Plaid Background that was also shown yesterday! To see what else is new, make sure you pop by the other design team members - so many gorgeous things to see!!

I've made my card with a base of Pear Bazzill and layered with Chocolate Chip. The next panel is a piece of Very Vanilla that has been stamped with Cozy Plaid Background in Rich Cocoa ink and then coloured various stripes with G40 and G82 Copic Markers. (I *love* that these backgrounds are BIG, much bigger than a US standard A2 size and PERFECT for the Australian standard A6 size!!) Across this, I've added a panel of vanilla that has been punched with the Iron Gate Punch and overlaid it with a piece of Striped Grosgrain Ribbon that I got from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store. Next I stamped the car label image from the Going Places Vintage Labels set in Memento Rich Cocoa onto X-press It Blending Card twice. The first one, I coloured the background using E51 Copic Marker and cut it out. (Are you wondering why on earth I didn't use the perfectly matching JustRite Vintage Label and Banner Dies?? Sadly, mine are still swimming across the Pacific, but I can't wait to get them!!!) The second one, I coloured the car in G82, W0 and W3 Copics and then fussy cut it and popped it up on foam tape. I've then attached the label to a Labels 25 Die Cut and glued it down on the card front. To finish I've added a couple of Pewter Pearls to the top corner.

Masculine Birthday

Hello Everyone! Today the JustRite team are showcasing the new May Releases and I've used Anchors Away and Vintage Travel Background sets, both of which are fabulous for making cards for the men in your life! We also want to give a HUGE welcome to the team to the incredibly talented Marisa Job!!! Make sure you leave her a little love today!!

I've made my card with a base of blue bazzill and layered with very vanilla. Instead of patterned paper, I've used the Vintage Travel Background stamp in Memento Desert Sand onto very vanilla and lightly airbrushed with E51, B91 and B95 Copic Markers. I've stamped the background again in Rich Cocoa and coloured and cut out the key and watch elements. Over the airbrushed background I've attached a piece of Champagne Net and then used Ivory Burlap Cord (both from the Stamp Simply Ribbon Store) to thread it through the key. The frame from Anchors Away has been stamped twice in Rich Cocoa, the first one has been coloured with B91, B95 and E51 Copic Markers and die cut with the Nested Label Medallion Dies. The second image I've stamped the sentiment inside the middle panel and and coloured it with E51 and E53 and cut it out with scissors and popped it up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape. Then I've popped up the entire panel also on the High Tack Foam Tape. To finish I've added the watch and a couple of pewter pearls to the top corner.

Colouring Orchids

Hello Everyone!!! There's a tutorial on the Flourishes Blog on how I colour these gorgeous Cattleya Orchids - both step by step photos and a video! You can check it out HERE!!

The card itself is made of a base of Vintage Pink Bazzill and layered with white and Aqua Bazzill and topped with a piece of MME Blush DP. The middle panel is more white topped with another piece of Blush DP. Across this I've added a white panel that has been punched with the Iron Gate Punch and stamped the sentiment from Motherly Love in the top corner. Across it is another piece of pink bazzill and topped with White Crochet Lace. The Cattleyas are from the Orchids stamp set and have been coloured with Copics (you can find all that info HERE), cut with Large Oval Nestabilites and matted with pink cut with Lacey Oval Nestabilities. To finish I've added a couple of white pearls to the top corner.

Today I've used the MOM set to create my card....

I created my base with white card cut with the Fleur de Lis Rectangles, layered with pink bazzill which has a piece of white satin ribbon attached. The 'Grandma' sentiment has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut with Twisted Metal Tags and Accents and airbrushed with R81 Copic. The flowers from the MOM set have been stamped in Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers (RV00, R81, R83, R85, G40, G43, G46, Y21, Y35, Y38). It's been fussy cut and popped up on high tack tape. To finish I've added a few tiny white pearls to the corners.

Today I've chosen ODBD's Spool and Tape Tag Set which is just so fabulous for those friends and family of yours that like to sew!! :)

I've used a base of pink bazzill and layered with Very Vanilla and some Material Girl DP which I've sewn zig zag around the edge. Next I've adhered part of a paper doily to one side and added a punched border strip (punched with Martha Stewart's Doily Lace Punch) and topped with pink satin ribbon and ivory crochet lace. I've also added a pearl flourish into the top corner. The tag and sentiment from Spool and Tape Tag Set have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and then coloured with Copics. The tag has been cut out with ODBD's matching Tag Die and framed with pink bazzill cut with Twisted Metal Tags and Accents Shapeabilities. The sentiment was cut with another element from Twisted Metal Tags and Accents Shapeabilities, airbrushed with R81 and popped up on foam tape. I've finished by adding a flower and greenery to the bottom corner and a seam binding bow (using the Bow Easy) to the tag.

Grandma's Attic

Hello Eveyone and welcome to the final day of the JustRite April Release!!! Today I'm showcasing a new Background stamp called Grandma's Attic! Those of you who have been following my posts this week will remember I did a big post about my grandparents - what I didn't mention then is that my Grandma was a Dressmaker for about 70yrs! She started sewing when she was about 15yrs old and I think she was near 85yrs when she made her last bridal gown!! I tell you, my Grandma is the most amazing woman!! :) Anyway, needless to say this background stamp spoke volumes to me and what better than to add the 'Grandma' sentiment from Vintage Rose Medallions also released this week!! :)

This is a super easy card to make, a base of Very Vanilla, layered with Old Olive, Chocolate Chip and more Very Vanilla stamped with Grandma's Attic. I've very lightly coloured elements of the background in YG61, YG63 and YG67 Copic Markers. Down the left side I've attached some green satin ribbon and topped it with some cream lace. The sentiment is from Vintage Rose Medallions, made into a notched tag and secured with a blossom (which was a spare white one on my desk that I airbrushed with E53 Copic to match) made with Bitty Blossom Shapeabilities and leaves made with Foliage Shapeabilities.

Happy B-Day Bro!

Hello Everyone!!! I'm pretty sure everyone knows how much I avoid making Man Cards, however, my little brother's birthday is one event I can't avoid! It's colourful, but still fairly plain so I hope he likes it when I see him later today!!

An easy card with a base of Kiwi Kiss (I'd forgotten I had this in my stash until I went looking!) layered with white and a couple of pieces of October Afternoon Schoolhouse DP. Over the join is a piece of white ribbon topped with dark blue star ribbon that I've had in my stash for ages! The rosette and ribbon tails from You Are The Best have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics (B32, B34, B37). The rosette has been cut out using Blossom Three Nestabilities and I've hand cut the ribbon tails. I've stamped the sentiment from the same set in the middle, once again colouring the "1" and then popped it all up on X-press It High Tack Foam Tape. To finish I've added a couple of pewter pearls to the corners.

Pink for Mum

Hello Everyone and welcome to Day 2 of the JustRite Papercraft April Release!! Today I'm showcasing Vintage Rose Medallions!! OH MY GOODNESS - how totally gorgeous are these and so useful for many occasions involving those special ladies in your life!! :)

You'll probably notice that my sentiment says "MUM" not "MOM" - here in Australia (and New Zealand and Britain) we say Mum not Mom - so you can imagine how excited I was to see this sentiment included into the latest set!!! I can see mine will be used A LOT!!! :) For all my North American friends - you'll see there is also a Mom sentiment for you too!! :)

I've used a base of pink bazzill and layered with white and some Bella Pink Passion DP. Through the middle I've punched a piece of white with Deco Fan border punch and topped with more Pink Passion DP. Over this I've added a piece of white satin ribbon and a pearl flourish. The oval panel is a piece of blending card cut with Small Oval Nestabilities and then stamped the rose flourishes at the top and bottom and coloured with Copics (RV55, G43). This has been framed with pink bazzill cut with Large Oval Nestabilities and white cut with Lacey Oval Nestabilities. Around this I've attached some ribbons. For the feature panel I've stamped the frame and sentiment from Vintage Rose Medallions in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (RV00, RV52, RV55, G43). It's been cut out with Nested Medallion Labels Die and framed with pink bazzill cut with Lacey Circle Nestabilities and popped it up on High Tack Foam Tape and then popped the entire oval panel up on High Tack Foam Tape. To finish I've added a bow to the ribbon and a single pearl to three corners.

70 Years

Imagine it's 1942 and the world is at war. There is a young couple, she is only 20 years old, he is 23 - in the Army and due to be shipped out to New Guinea to fight to protect his country from invasion. They've known each other for about 5 years - ever since his family moved into the house behind hers in a large country town. On this day, 4th April 1942, Grace Hewitt and Sheldon Alexander are getting married. She has saved her rations coupons to buy fabric for her wedding gown and friends and neighbours have gathered flowers such as Easter Lilies, Tuberoses, Stephanotis, Orange Blossom and Frangipani from their gardens and the local lagoons for her all white bouquet. Her best friend is the bridesmaid, his best man couldn't get leave from the Army to attend, so a complete stranger steps in to witness their wedding. It's Easter Saturday and a day they will never forget.

Forward to 2012 and seventy years have passed. Grace and Shel have children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. They've worked hard, traveled the world and lived a wonderful life. After all these years, they still love and adore each other as much as they did right at the beginning. I'm proud to say that these are my grandparents and on this day, 4 April 2012, I celebrate the incredible milestone of their 70th Wedding Anniversary with them! This week-end, also Easter Saturday, the family will gather from across the country to celebrate with them on this very special occasion!!! To my Grandma and Fella - I love you more than you know!!! {{{HUGS}}}

For those of you who want to know a little about my card - I've used a base of Very Vanilla and layered with Chocolate Chip and a piece of white that has been stamped in Green using JustRite's new Elegant Fronds Background Stamp. Across the middle is more chocolate layered with MME Sunshine DP and added a piece of yellow grosgrain over the top. On top of this is a paper doily that I've airbrushed with E53 Copic to age it a little. In the corner I've made three flowers using Spellbinders Bitty Blossoms and Foliage (for the leaves). I've left kept them mostly white and airbrushed just a little Y35 Copic - I wanted to keep them white because Grandma carried white flowers in her bouquet. In the opposite corner I've stamped the sentiment from Your Special Day Medallion Labels, lightly airbrushed that with Y35 and matted with chocolate cut with Lacey Circles Nestabilities. For the feature panel, I've stamped the frame from Spring Rose Medallions in black on X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (E50, E53, G43, G46, Y000) and then cut the middle out of the frame. Next I printed a photo, lined it up behind the frame and cut both frame and photo using Nested Oval Medallion Labels Dies. It was then matted with Large Scallop Oval Nestabilities and popped up on foam tape. To finish I've added a couple of latte pearls to the corners.

For my card, I've made the base out of yellow bazzill using Fleur de Lis Rectangle Nestabilities - however bazzill is very thick, next time I would use a thinner cardstock! Next I stamped the Lattice Background in light brown ink and coloured the inner squares of the lattice with B000 Copic Marker and cut it to size. Around this I've attached some Seam Binding and glued it down. I've added a little pearl flourish to the top left corner, after all we all need a little bling right?? For my feature panel, I've stamped the sentiment and frame from Spring Rose Medallions in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers (B0000, B01, YG13, YG17, Y21, Y35, Y38) and cut it out with Nested Oval Medallion Label Dies. I've framed this with another piece of yellow bazzill, cut with Labels 11 Nestabilities and popped it all up on High Tack Foam Tape. I've finished with a simple bow.

I've made this a shaped card for something a little different and used orange for my colour palette. Orange, I admit, is not in my comfort zone, but I was thinking of my friend and she loves orange, so I thought....why not??? The base has been made of pumpkin pie and cut with Mega Curved Rectangles and then I've added a layer of vanilla. The next panel is the smaller die from the same set used for more pumpkin and a piece of Howdy Doody DP. Next I've cut some vanilla with Labels 14 and topped with another piece of vanilla cut with Twisted Metal Tags and Accents. Across this is a piece of ivory satin ribbon. The sentiment is from Gerber Daisy and has been stamped and cut out with Ribbon Tags Trio and attached with some spotty orange grosgrain ribbon. The daisies (also from Gerber Daisy) have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (YR00, YR12, YR16, YR18, E31, E33, YR24, G20, G21, G24, G28 - Burnt Orange Collection, Leaf Green Collection, Beehive Collection, Flesh Tones 1 Collection) and then fussy cut and popped up on foam tape. To finish I've added some Latte Pearls to the corners.

SC378 Deep Sorrow

Hello Everyone! Today I played along with this week's SCS Sketch Challenge. I really loved this sketch - great design and lots of layers!! ;) I was also able to play with some new toys and that's ALWAYS fun!!! :)

I've used a base of aqua card (it's SU, but I have no idea what it's called sorry!), layered with Very Vanilla and another piece of aqua that has been stamped with JustRite's Chevron Stripe Background stamp in Versamark ink. It's been a while since I've played with versamark, but I like the way it worked for this. The middle panel is another piece of vanilla - stamped with the roses from With Sympathy in Celadon Versacolor Ink. Across this is a darker piece of aqua bazzill, punched with Deco Fan and topped with white crochet lace (airbrushed with E53 Copic - because I don't have any ivory lace!). The feature panel is vanilla stamped with the frame and sentiment from With Sympathy and then coloured with BG72 and BG75 and cut out with Nested Oval Medallion Dies. I've framed this with dark aqua cut with Lacey Oval Nestabilities and popped it all up with X-press It High Tack Foam Tape. To finish I've made a flower using vanilla and Bitty Blossoms Shapeabilities (new toy! I can see I'm going to use this A LOT!) and a bit of greenery using Foliage Shapeabilities.

I've used a base of teal bazzill and layered with Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip and Breeze DP. The next panel is more chocolate punched across the bottom with Deco Fan Border Punch and topped with more Breeze DP. Across all of this I've added some Ivory satin ribbon. The daffodil from Happy Easter has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (Y21, Y35, Y38, YG11, YG13, YG17) and then airbrushed a little B000 around it (using a mask to protect the image). This has been cut with Large Oval Nestabilities and matted with chocolate cut with Lacey Ovals. Finally I've added a bow, the sentiment from the same set and made into a notched tag and a few Teal Pearls.

I Love Pink

Hello Everyone!!! Today I'm all in PINK!! I'm sure there are many of you out there who are just as addicted to pink as I am, so I hope you like this one!! I saw the latest Sketchbook Saturday Sketch #52, which is very CAS for me, but sometimes a sketch just 'speaks' to you and I knew exactly what I wanted to do when I saw this beauty!!

I've used a base of pink bazzill and layered with lighter pink and a piece of white card that has been stamped with JustRite's Stitched Ribbon Background in Memento Angel Pink ink. Then I've punched two pieces of white card using Deco Fan Punch and adhered a piece of pink Yours Truly DP over the top. Around this I've attached a piece of white satin ribbon and a piece of pink satin ribbon. Next I've cut out this luscious pink rose using Spellbinders Spiral Blossom One Die and some greenery using Spellbinders Foliage Die. The sentiment is from JustRite's Spring Words set (I figured I may as well get a head start on this year's Mother's Day cards!) and stamped direct onto the background in Tuxedo Black and finished by adding a few Kaisercraft Rose Pearls to the bottom.

Easter Cross

Hello Everyone!!! It's another Create With Me Monday on the Flourishes Blog, where I have a tutorial on how to colour this beautiful cross and lilies image from their He Is Risen set which is perfect for Easter! I've even made my very first video ****EEEEK****, I hope you enjoy it and be kind with the comments!! :)

The card itself is made of pink bazzill, fawn bazzill, white and MME Blush DP. Across this is a piece of white punched top and bottom and layered with yet more Blush DP and a piece of white crochet lace. In the corners I've added a couple of white ZVA pearl flourishes. The cross image has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copic Markers (see the Flourishes Blog for details). It's been cut out with Labels 18 and framed with pink bazzill cut with Labels 17 and popped up on foam tape.

ODBD's 4th Anniversary Release Hop

The sentiment I chose for this year's Sentiment Collection is a special one for me. Throughout my life my Mother has said this to me in various forms and these are the words she's says to me today. Whenever things are tough, or I'm sad or struggling with things, these are the words she says to me. It reminds me that no matter how bad things seem, I have things to be thankful for and someone (or actually many people) who loves me. So Mum, this one is for you.....I love you!!!

My card is easy to make, a base of pink, topped with chocolate and white and some Memory Box Gossamer DP. Then a strip of chocolate (punched) and topped with more Gossamer, crochet lace and satin ribbon. I've cut a lacey circle out of white, topped with pink cut with Small Circle Nesties and glued down. Next I've added a ZVA Flourish. The Sentiment is stamped in pink and cut with Large Circle Nesties, matted with pink (cut with Small Circle Nesties) and white (cut with Lacey Circle Nesties) and popped up on foam tape. To finish I've added a bow, silver cord, pink heart button and a double heart charm.

I've kept my card clean and simple so as to show off the Brocade Background as well as incorporating 4th Anniversary Themes (to help celebrate ODBD's big anniversary week) - Blue for Blue Topaz and the traditional Flowers! The base is blue bazzill, layered with yellow and white. I've taken another piece of white, stamped it with Brocade Background in Memento Summer Sky and attached it to the previous layers. Around this is a piece of ribbon. The sentiment is from Serenity Prayer and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and cut with Large Oval Nestabilities and matted with more blue cut with Lacey Oval Nestabilities and all popped up on foam tape. To finish I've added a few small roses, branches and pearls to the top corner.

Cupcake Anyone??

Hello Everyone!!! For today's project, I was playing around with JustRite's Classic Scallop Borders and ended up creating a fun popstick to decorate a cupcake! :) I had made some Caramel Mud Cake Heart shaped cupcakes and thought this popstick would be perfect for a little decoration!!! ;)

This idea came about while I was stamping the Classic Scallop Borders. I stamped two in a line so it was a long strip and then cut them out. Once the strip was cut, it was scored at each of the top points of the scallop and then folded mountain/valley. I repeated this to make two strips and then adhered them together to make a rosette. The butterfly image is from Botanical Butterflies and has been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black onto X-press It Blending Card and coloured with Copics (B000, YR12, YR16, YR18). This was cut out with Lacey Circle Nestabilites and glued to the front of the rosette. For the back, I've cut a circle, glued the popstick to it and then glued it to the back of the rosette.
