Interior designer Mikel Larrinaga renovated this 1936 small school located in the natural park called Parque Natural de las Hoces del Alto Ebro y Río Rudrón, in Spain. He fell in love not only with the old school but with the place itself where you can find flora and fauna both from the Atlantic and the Mediterranean.

Restored 17th century Farmhouse in Spain

This 17th century farmhouse is located in Catalonia, Spain. A clever and careful arrangement of furniture and the use of natural earth tones make these huge rooms warm and welcoming.

A nice idea for a fireplace: two built in nooks at the sides for logs and a full length solid beam above it all.

White and Vintage in Melbourne

Located in a suburb of Melbourne, this former mattress factory was completely abandoned. Even with leaks in the ceilings and cracks and oil stains on the concrete floors, interior designer Lynda Gardener took up the challenge. We could call hers a recycling style. Each room shows her passion for everything vintage, lots of chandeliers (12 in all) and flea market finds.

A former cutting table from a garment factory, was recycled into the dining room table.

A courtyard was added right in the centre of the house so there is plenty of natural light in every room

When I first saw this room I thought there was a doorway at the side of the bed.

A photograph printed on a strip of wallpaper, designed by English artist Degorah Barness, hangs next to a real vintage dress.

Thank you dears for welcoming me so warmly ♥. Ha! Just learnt how to make that little heart. Yes, I'm aware most of you (all of you?) have known how to make one for a long time now but well, maybe I can share it with one or two of you. Just press Alt and 3. Voilá ♥! Bridge players surely know to press Alt 4, 5, and 6.

This house is in the French village of Blauzac. According to the article it used to be the town's ugliest building and was known as the cement lump. After four years, owners Linda and Claes Leyon transformed it into their home mixing old and new styles with lots of flea market finds.

So Nice to See You Again! And a Guesthouse in France

Hello once again, dear readers! Thanks so much for all your comments while I was away. I promise I will shortly be visiting you! I had a superb, lengthy, awesome holiday at home, Argentina, together with my eight kids. Thanks for asking!

And a very warm welcome to my new followers. Hope to see you around every day!

Back to our home tours, then! Maison-Travaux takes us to visit La Bergerie de Fontbonne, a guesthouse in France built against a hill, at the bottom of a valley. The period of construction is difficult to date as traditional building techniques have remained unchanged through the decades and even centuries. None of these buildings have foundations, but all are based on a double wall buried 25 cm deep. Architect Emmanuelle Stevenoot was in charge of renovating these four ancient barns which cover a floor area of 265 square metres. As the buildings stand on different heights, steps were used to connect one with another.

Medieval Manor in Devon

This might be my last post until January 23 so I'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas, Happy New Year and happy holidays, and... try not to forget me!

And my last post before Christmas takes us to Devon, in England. Jan-Eric and Jennifer Österlund live in this 1830 manor house which has never been extended and is a typical medieval hall house. A 14th century manor all dressed up for Christmas. If you'd like to read the whole story just click here.

Four men were needed to carry the impressive tree into the great hall and a wooden frame was specially built to support it safely.

The oak door dates from the 1560s.

The fireplace in the great hall was installed by William Sherman; his initials and those of his wife are carved as part of the frieze. The Flemish tapestry, c1680, illustrates the Story of Samson.

Georgian Townhouse

Sandy and Peter Borchert won the Period Living Readers' Award for Best Townhouse 2011. Located in Wiltshire, South West England, it used to be a mill and was later converted into a home. Old Mill Guesthouse

My messege yesterday might have been a bit confusing so I'll explain my comings and goings again: I'll be posting every day until this Friday, then there will be a couple of posts next week before Christmas. After Christmas and until January 24th I don't think I'll be able to post. C'est tout!

And today we are visiting a restored mill in France. It has been turned into a guesthouse by Annie and Francois who also have a restaurant just steps away.Although some of the rooms have a modern edge which I really don't fancy, the rest of the house, the exterior and gardens are beautiful.
It is located in Alsace, close to Strasbourg, on the edge of the Vosges Natural Park.

Francis and Annie pose on the bridge while Napoleon and Cythare couldn't care less.

White House in Sweden

This is the last week before we go on holidays. We are going home, to Argentina, on Saturday and won't be back until January 23rd. Absolutely no posting for a month! Am joking. I need my daily tours. But after Christmas we'll be going to Chapadmalal, and there is no Internet connection there so, there will be a brief hiatus. Just enough for you to start missing me! :)

This large white wooden home blends into the winter landscape in Brastad, Bohuslän. It looks like it has been here for ages, but it is brand new. The outside resembles the late 1800s Swedish country home. Inside, an open floor plan spreads over 300 square meters. The entire ground floor is one large room with a ceiling height of up to 7.5 meters. Upstairs there is only one bedroom and a living room. The interior style is eclectic: a little rustic, a little modern, some antique and some industrial design.

Guesthouse in Girona

This Guest House called Can Bassa, part of a fourteenth century farmhouse, is located in the old town of Madremanya in Girona, Spain. Originally, it had neither a bath nor kitchen, just some rooms on three floors, where - the owners believe- day laborers who worked in the fields could have slept. To enjoy the views and feel the presence of the Les Gavarres mountains, the owners decided to place the living room on the second floor of the house.

Christmas in Stockholm

The Bromberg Sehlberg family live in this beautiful apartment on a quiet avenue in Östermalm in Stockholm. In their previous apartment, red had been the predominant colour for their Christmas decoration. It had lots of energy, but this year they felt they needed a really restful place and chose to tone down the colors on the walls and furnishings. The result: a soft Christmas with elements of natural colors.

Under the Tuscan Sun

Good morning. How about going to Italy and visit this Tuscan villa surrounded by beautiful gardens and breathtaking views. Bramasole is just a few minutes outside the ancient town walls of Cortona. It served as the set for the film Under the Tuscan Sun in 2002. Its restoration began in 2006 and was completed in 2010.

Gold and Silver for Christmas

Have you started with your Christmas decorating? I haven't yet. Not because I don't want to but because I won't be home until the 22nd. Anyway, the tradition in Argentina is to put up the Christmas tree and decorations on the 8th. What is it like in your country? Do you have a fixed date or do you just start decorating sometime near Christmas or whenever you are ready? Another tradition in Argentina is that on Christmas eve, at exactly 12 o'clock, the whole country goes nuts with fireworks! And it goes on for at least half an hour. A fantastic sight -and noise- which I love. I know this is not done in Brazil, for example. They use fireworks whenever a football team scores a goal or wins, and for New Year too, but not for Christmas.

Autumn Colours in Gascony

A glorious garden in Gascony in the southwest of France reminiscent of the Tuscan scenery. It was designed and made by the owner, Madelaine, in terraces to link with the surrounding nature.

This sculpture by Joachim Van Den Hurk echoes the verticality of the cypress. The iron rod on the top turns in the wind.
