School comes to an end...

May...beautiful flowers, warm temps, allergies in full swing, busy time of year, end of school, graduations, May birthdays, longer field trips, VBS prep at church, youth group activities...All of those things are in full swing around here!
It's bittersweet. I'm just as tired of the daily routine and curriculum as my (soon to be) 6th grader. Still, we are finishing our week with two finals, and lots of reading. I am always prayerful about our schooling, but this time of year, I'm even more reflective. Wondering if I did everything I should throughout the year, wondering if he'll be ready for high school in ONLY 3 short years...

It's hard to believe January is nearly over. It seems like this month has been hard. We have had a hard time getting back on track after the holidays with our daily schedule. So, we are trying to make some changes, and just not stress out about it. We had a family reunion today...which is always fun and exciting! I came away with a new recipe that would be great for a potluck. I'm actually making it for our "Friend Day" potluck at church tomorrow. It's a Taste of Home recipe...always good! It's easy and only takes a few ingredients.

We are musical people in our house. I play the piano, and I'm teaching Jellyfish to play also (although he never lets me forget how badly he wants to play the violin). My little one sits at the piano and "plays" and sings to the top of her lungs. Still, we've never done a true music history curriculum . Goodbye August

August has been a hot and busy month. Early in the month we saw temps over 100 with heat indexes near 120! That's way too hot for me! Things are starting to cool off (a little) and prove that fall is just around the corner.

Toddlers: Letter A, week 1

We started tot school last week and Millie loves playing the "games", as she calls it. We started with letter Aa. Since they are laminated, I let her hold them and play momma/baby with them. We will add more things to our board as she progresses. I got the idea over at 1+1+1=1. You can also print off the weather cards there. The rectangular color poster in the middle came in a package from the Dollar Tree.

This was our activity/skill plan for the week.
