No matter how technologically advanced the world has become, people will always need a knowledge that can help them douse misery, develop inner peace, and discover true happiness. On the occasion of the 100^th birthday anniversary of the late Meditation Master Nun Chand Khonnokyoong, Abbot Dhammajayo Bhikkhu initiated a project to build a new Pali and Buddhist school of studies to replace its original one being worn out through decades of use. The Building will house Thailand’s largest Pali and Dhamma school of studies.  Studying Pali is essential for monks as the Lord Buddha’s original teachings are kept in this ancient language. It is also designed to be the coordinating center for the Dhammakaya Temple’s overseas dissemination work that has brought the Lord Buddha’s time-tested knowledge of inner peace and happiness to people in more than 100 countries spanning as far as Qatar, Uganda, Solomon Islands, Mongolia, and even in former Buddhist lands such as Bahrain, Dubai, Indonesia and Jordan. Today, the temple has more than 50 overseas meditation centers, each providing free meditation lessons for interested members of the general public.  As the scope for dissemination work widens, there is a need to train and retrain monks to be qualified teachers to property coach new generations of monks and lay staff to be responsible and respectable role models for virtuous leaders in both word and, more importantly, action. The 15-storey building will be a place where people of all colors and races and various nationalities work together for world peace; similar to a United Nations of Buddhism.  It will become a venue where Buddhist academics and expert practitioners from all over the world meet, discuss, exchange ideas as well as cooperate on educational and global peace programs. A new thin-film flexible battery has been developed by researchers at Uppsala University in Sweden, consisting of two common, non-toxic materials: salt and paper. This discovery could be the cheap, easily manufactured, and green solution for portable rechargeable power. “We introduce a novel nanostructured high-surface area electrode material for energy storage applications composed of cellulose fibers of algal origin individually coated with a 50 nm thin layer of polypyrrole. Our results show the hitherto highest reported charge capacities and charging rates for an all polymer paper-based battery.” The salt solution acts as the electrolyte, and the polymer coated paper (pressed cellulose fibers) becomes the electrodes. Suggestions for real-world applications are medical diagnostics devices or sensors on packaging materials or embedded into fabric.

According to the researchers, “You don’t need advanced equipment to make the batteries, so they could be made on site in developing countries. The aqueous-based batteries, which are entirely based on cellulose and polypyrrole and exhibit charge capacities between 25 and 33 mAh g−1 or 38−50 mAh g−1 per weight of the active material, open up new possibilities for the production of environmentally friendly, cost efficient, up-scalable and lightweight energy storage systems.”

Florian Schlosser will give a live interview on the channel “2012 and beyond” on Friday, November 13th at 9 pm CET. He will not only speak about his feelings on 2012 but also on his visions for a conscious life. In his third book “Space” he explained some of his ideas:

“Many people speak of this moment as all that exists, which is self-evidently true. Yet what is the composition of this and every moment? And how is this moment – now – showing up in consciousness to be experienced? The now exists as what we could call the Trinity of Life, consisting of: Who we are; What we have; and What we do. Who we are is the awareness in which everything appears and disappears moment by moment. What we have is the experience of now, as a multi-sensual sensation in the body and nervous system. What we – consciously or unconsciously – do is play with different qualities of attention. The quality of the attention we give and receive determines how we experience this moment. In most of us the attention is either completely turned outside observing external objects, or it is turned inside on what we think, feel and experience inwardly. In either direction our attention is habitually used and controlled in a narrow focus, mainly as a means to get what we want, and get rid of what we don’t want. Our focus becomes highly selective and exclusive, constantly re-creating a sense of being an observer who is separated from what is observed. Unavoidably, yet innocently, we are caught up in a dualistic experience-perception loop. In this narrowness of focus the body and nervous system – the actual interface between unmanifest consciousness and the manifestation of life – are excluded. Without our being aware of it, in excluding and separating the body from consciousness, our natural capacity to include and experience the totality of now is rather limited.

Well, perfect is about the only word for it out here today, we’re doing 6.5 knots on a broad reach heading for a waypoint below Norfolk Island. The wind was just getting up above 15 knots so I pulled the first reef into the main this morning to keep the motion comfortable and to make the steering easier on Parker (the windvane).

It’s such a nice day that I’ve just spent the morning sitting up on deck enjoying it all, watching Ella’s Pink Lady sail along and listening to music. Today there’s little speckles of white streaked across the water, as if they’re there just to break up all that blue! Just think how great it would be if it were like this every day. On second thoughts maybe it would get a little boring! It’s taken a while but I think the enormity of the voyage and everything that’s happened over the last few months finally caught up with me today, surprisingly it didn’t make me feel at all daunted, just proud of all the people who got us here and a little overwhelmed, wow this is it! And it’s so much better than I ever dreamed! Still there’s a lot to get through yet but I know we can do it, one leg at a time. I’m about half way between Lord Howe and Norfolk Islands now.

So rightyo, foods another big thing that I get a lot of questions about, here goes; it was definitely a bit of a mission and Mum has done an amazing job of putting together a tasty menu that will last 8 months, plus extra just in case. Ella’s Pink Lady doesn’t have refrigeration (because it draws too much power) and after a lot of forced sampling, I concluded that fancy sports foods and most freeze dried food, just wasn’t going to work for me. With a lot of help and advice from other sailors and from Gray Slater a dietitian from the University of the Sunshine Coast, I ended up with a pretty good diet that’s amazingly close to normal food. My main meals are range of about 10 different meals called Easyfood which is pretty amazing, tasty stuff that only needs to be heated and lasts on the shelf for 18 months. Breakfasts are normal stuff like cereal and porridge and I’m able to bake my own bread (I think I’m going to have to try my first loaf soon because the stuff I took, is getting very stale!) and things like scones in the pressure cooker. Other than that there’s tined fruit and veggies, plenty of treats, hot drinks and etc. I’ll see if I can remember to tell you more about what I’m eating as we go, tonight, I’m planning to have Easyfood lamb chops (they are so nice!)with deb (mashed potato) and asparagus.

Ok, that was too long in front of a computer screen so I’m off to enjoy the rest of the day and maybe have a bucket bath in the cockpit. Cya -Jesse

This afternoon at 5 pm another life-size statue of spiritual teacher Sri Chinmoy (1931-2007) was inaugurated, this time at the river bank adjacent to the Museum Kampa, Sovovy miyny. Many personalities from all walks of live as well as students of Sri Chinmoy were present. After the ceremony a boat trip was organized. All visitors were amazed by the powerful vibration of the statue that represents the consciousness of the master 100 %.

Sal Rachele was guest on the 2012 and beyond Channel on October 23rd 2009. He is author of the book Earth Changes and 2012 and has been a channeler of Interdimensional Beings of Light for 20 years.
