      <p>The Center for Science, Technology, and Public Policy and the Institute on the Environment will host a conversation about the critically acclaimed film <em>Garbage Dreams</em> from 4 to 5:30 on Thursday, March 11, in Room 180 at the Humphrey Center. The film documents Zabbaleen, an impoverished community of mostly Coptic Christian that used traditional methods of collection and hand-sorting to reuse over 80% of the garbage they collect. </p>

<p>Humphrey Institute Professor Ragui Assaad, Mai Iskander, producer, director and cinematographer for <em>Garbage Dreams</em>, Associate Professor Tim Smith, and Susan Hubbard, CEO and co-president of Eureka Recycling will talk about lessons to be learned from the Zabbaleen and the implications for global waste management and recycling efforts. <p>The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations leads international efforts to defeat hunger. Serving both developed and developing countries, FAO acts as a neutral forum where nations meet as equals to negotiate agreements and debate policy.</p>

<p>FAO is also a source of knowledge and information for developing countries and countries in transition in their efforts to modernize and improve agriculture, forestry and fisheries practices that ensure good nutrition for all.</p>

      <p>The Carlson School of Management's 1st Tuesday Speaker Series will feature Marlene M. Ibsen, CEO and president of Travelers Foundation on Tuesday, March 2 from 11:30 a.m. 1 p.m.</p>

<p>The 1st Tuesday Speaker Series began in August 1992 to provide an opportunity for alumni and friends of the Carlson School to continue their management education. The 1st Tuesday Speaker Series features top-notch executives as keynote speakers addressing hot topics in business and leadership.</p>

<p>Held on the first Tuesday of every month at the McNamara Alumni Center, the program attracts alumni and business leaders from throughout the corporate community, and has become an attractive spot for people in the metropolitan area to network.</p>

<p>Parking is reserved for attendees at the Washington Avenue parking ramp.</p>

<p>Registration and networking begins at 11:30 a.m.
Lunch will be served at 11:50 a.m.
