We're so thankful to EVERYONE who had been supportive of our family through all these years since we first went to the Philippines in 1995.

I can't help but think also how God has upheld us through all of these.

The 3-cd changer sounds cool, but in reality it ended up being a pain. It took forever to change cds, and you forget which cds are in there after a while.

While my family had this state-of-the-art beast at home, I took the old 486 DX/66 to college. I had to connect with the external 14.4 modem since Simpson College didn't have broadband yet.

Brandon, I remember huddling around your 386 with friends and playing Wolfenstein 3d! That is, when we weren't on AOL.

My favorite feature of my first computer was the turbo switch that kicked it up to 16 MHz from 12! Seriously though a 3-CD changer? What luxury!

Ha ha! I'm impressed that you had a 3-CD changer. That was definitely an awesome step up from a 486. I remember when we first got to Davao I was the envy of everyone since I was the only one with a Pentium computer (that one was 66 MHz, one of the first to come out).

Very nicely written. I've been thinking a bit about this all, as well; I think we're very near the brink of becoming an online-centric culture, and in many cases already there. The last leap is convincing the "average user" to take the same plunge that the "power users" have already taken, and become more comfortable with, and trusting in, the idea of secure web applications and development. The biggest hurdle, I think, is in handling issues of personal security and counter-hacking measures. People are still (rightly) paranoid about the web in a lot of ways; only once that fear is assuaged will we, I think, see this truly start to boom in the directions you suggest. I wonder what kind of integrated security features will be present in the Chrome OS?

I agree. I really enjoyed the movie, even though I don't know much about Star Trek. It's one of the best movies I've seen in a long time.

The extensive use of lens flares was a bit odd, though I guess it made it seem a little more real.
