Sunburst KL 2008 - International Music Festival

For the first time in Kuala Lumpur, the largest outdoor multi-genre music festival has light up the grounds of the Bukit Kiara Equestrian Club. Bringing with it some of the biggest international names with the likes of John Legend, The Roots, Incubus and Incognito, and regional superstars like Tompi and Gigi, as well as our local hot-shots Joe Flizzow, Pop-Shuvit, Gerhana Ska Cinta, Search and many more. Sunburst KL International Music Festival 08 is the hottest event to dawn on KL.

It was raining in the evening but that didn't stop them from enjoying the show.

Moving a HDD to a different motherboard without reinstalling or formatting

This guide was originally contributed by Stanley Tiang, and has been edited for clarity purposes only.

NOTE: Make sure you back up all your data before starting. Print these instructions out. Note the application usage at the bottom of the page before beginning the process.

1. Before you change the motherboard, uninstall all your motherboard chipset driver, graphic card driver, network card driver, and etc. This is to prevent driver conflicts. Alternatively, clean your drivers with DriverCleaner.

2. Before removing your HDD, go to Device Manager by typing devmgmt.msc in Start > Run --> find IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers --> right click the XXX PCI IDE Controler and Update driver.

Please refer to the attached picture if you are unsure which to update. Different motherboards have different chipset drivers. This guide uses SiS PCI IDE Controller.

NOTE: DO NOT UNINSTALL THE PRIMARY IDE CHANNEL & SECONDARY IDE CHANNEL

3. Please look at the picture attached how to update driver

(a) Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)

(b) Select Don't search. I will choose the driver and install

(d) Click No to restart machine

4. After updating your IDE controller, you can shut down your system and start to move the HDD into another system or change your motherboard.

5. Boot your system into Safe Mode by pressing F8. Wait 5-10 minutes and let the system auto install the neccessary drivers.

6. Once completed, you can boot into Windows normally and install the rest of the drivers.

7. Scan for your system for errors with any 3rd party software like Norton WinDoctor, TuneUp Utilities or Registry Mechanic.

8. Done!

These instructions have been tested on 100+ machines and it works perfectly.

Applies to O/S:
- Windows 2000 Professional Edition
- Windows XP Home Edition
- Windows XP Professional
- Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition (Re-activation is required)
(All of the above with and/or without Service Packs)

Works for (Hardware):
- Any processor
- Any desktop motherboard
- Any ATA & SATA hard disk

Will not work for:
- All Laptops
- All Servers

STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.

My nurse friend sent this and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree.
If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. Seriously....

STROKE IDENTIFICATION:
During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call paramedics) .....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. S ome don't die.... they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE
Thank God for the sense to remember the "3" steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke .

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently)
(i.e. It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call "AMBULANCE" immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue
NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue. If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

If you believe all the hype, installing the new Windows Vista operating system will solve world famine, end the AIDS crisis and bring about world peace. Well, maybe no one is saying it's that great, but the clamor and fuss have been pretty boisterous.
Hidden behind all of this hoopla, however, is the fact that as much of an improvement Vista is over XP, its main competitor, Mac OS X, still stacks up really well -- and even tops Vista in several important areas.

There are nearly an infinite number of ways to compare complex beasts like operating systems. I'm going to skip low-level issues, like comparing driver architectures. Most people just don't care about things like who has the superior kernel. People care far more about the parts they see and work with, so that is what I'm going to deal with here.

Steady EvolutionWhile Vista is indeed a major update to Windows, there's a lot of it that is, quite frankly, just Microsoft making up for lost time. The last non-server release of Windows was in 2001 with Windows XP, with only a single major interim update in Service Pack 2. In the same time, Apple has been steadily releasing updates to Mac OS X on what was a yearly schedule, now around every 18 months.
This means that while Mac OS X has been steadily evolving through 10.0, 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, and is now working toward 10.5, Microsoft was waiting on what would become Vista. When it was obvious the original Longhorn OS wasn't going to happen, it took the Windows Server 2003 code base and used that for the basis of Vista. It also chopped quite a few features out of Vista, most notably the WinFS object-based data storage and management system, which had been promised in various forms since the first blurbs about Cairo in the early 1990s.

Microsoft had two serious issues. First, it had to make this update of Windows revolutionary enough that it came close to justifying the delay. Second, it had to come up with something that would stand up well with its main competitor in the desktop OS market, Mac OS X. Has it succeeded at both? I'd argue that the former's almost a nonissue: Vista will sell well, because the world won't have a choice. As far as the latter, well, probably, but you'd be hard-pressed to say Vista's better than Mac OS X.
In a nutshell, Vista vs. Mac OS X is Revolution vs. Evolution. It's about a massive, long-delayed upgrade that has to account for almost six years of progress by its competitors, versus a well-executed strategy of regular updates. While updating an operating system is never something that can be called easy, Apple's strategy has been the better one for keeping its OS on top of things, something Microsoft has admitted to in a roundabout way.
