Ditte Isager is my idol. She’s an extraordinaire photographer whose work has been featured in all the decent shelter magazine out there. She’s pratically a household name. And her photos magical. She takes advantage of the light and shadows like no other. See for yourself:

Even though more and more sustainable projects are being built lately, we didn’t see this coming: you are looking at the world’s first sky-scraper to have wind turbines. Nicknamed “The Razor”, this incredible structure is located in London and measures 148 meters. The official name of the project is “Strata SE! Tower”, a building equipped with three wind turbines, that will ensure 8% of the structure’s total energy consumption.Here are some words from the official website: “Strata SE1 comprises a £113.5 million investment in the area by Brookfield Europe and will provide 408 high quality apartments in two prestigious architecturally distinguished buildings, the Tower and the Pavilion, both with space for shops and restaurants below.” Do you believe this is a revolutionary building?- via Inhabitat

As their Arctic habitat continues to collapse, polar bear hunting isn’t exactly a sport that’s on the up and up. Animal themed decor, however, continues to be a hot trend in the interior design community. So, how do you get your hands on a bear skin rug without contributing to the extinction of bear populations? French designer Lise Lefebvre has come up with a twist on the bear skin rug that even the staunchest PETA  supporter couldn’t complain about. Contemporary furniture and arrangements lie at the basis of these amazing interiors from Hulsta. Elegant, but not too serious or solemn, some of the dining-rooms let out a genuine feeling of warmth. The color palette is not too flashy, nor too dull, creating a perfect balance. Some elements are particularly interesting, such as the carpets, the pendant lamps or the cupboards. Small decorative items cheer up the place and bring a plus of originality. We also like the presence of wood in some interiors which gives a rustic feel without interfering with the style of the room. Enjoy!

Is it really two and a half years since I first featured Australian interior design duo Leibowitz and McLachlan? Time for another visit and as you would expect from such a talented pair there are lots more lovely rooms on their website. It’s a casual elegance, muted colours, natural finishes, antiques with contemporary pieces. It’s stylish and crisp but light and feminine. I love their children’s rooms … so soft and pretty. As for those kitchens, it’s straight to my inspiration files.

The great thing about the Pause Stool from Soft Line Furniture is the design possibilities with this type of piece. A simple idea may be to have a few of these for children in a home to have a place to climb on, sit and work on projects. On a larger scale Pause can be used to create a colorful lobby design for a business or public waiting area. From the picture it makes me think of a recreation room in a school or church where children can be seated in many different configurations allowing flexibility for room setup. Designed by OmasC Architects, this modern home is located in Candamo, Spain and comes as an example of original design and architecture. The home has a very interesting structure: two individual areas were joined together- one is for day time activities and the other is used as a night zone.  A large parking lot was connected to the building site by using stone slabs. Light was an important factor which stood at the basis of the design. Windows are present everywhere, allowing natural light to mingle with the homey atmosphere. We developed a special interest in the outdoor covered platform which is an original element in housing design. The interiors are airy, spacious and let out a warm atmosphere.
