Hello, everyone! I'm so happy to be here with you at Interior Vignette today with a guest post from Arcadian Home blog. It's a fantastic place to discover interior design inspiration including great decorating ideas for everything from beautiful folding screens to all sorts of colorful throws and pillows.

Do you love fabulous Bohemian chic style? Was that a yes? Well, so do I. Bohemian rooms are all about layers and layers of color, texture and pattern. Add to that beautiful, interesting and sometimes quirky treasures and found objects and you have perhaps the most personal of decorating styles. For your inspiration and a just a taste of Bohemian style, I've pulled together some of my favorite rooms with a chic Bohemian look to share with you today. Enjoy! ~ Mari

From the marvelous striped rug on the floor to the over-the-top pendant hanging above the table, this room has a magical Bohemian chic look. The great mismatched (and colorful) dining chairs take diners on a little tour of chair design history.

This lovely neutral bedroom space has been given the Bohemian treatment with colorfully rich bedding and an amazing array of pillowsóall sizes shapes and luscious colors. Arenít the tiny twin stools at the foot of the bed so perfect? Modern pendant lighting is modeled after vintage metal lanterns.

A deep watery blue wall is a beautiful background for this canopy-less canopy bed dressed up in layers of colorful bedding and pillows. The washed silk rugs and intricately formed ìcandleî chandelier are beautiful in this space.

This show house bath is deliciously Bohemian. From the tropical green wallpaper to the colorful wall art and overstuffed armchair, it says ìIím a bit eccentric, embrace my style.

In a fabulous tug of war between the curvy ornate bed and the straight lines of modern nightstands and brass bench, both sides win with this Bohemian bedroom. The jewel tone colors of the beautiful throw at the foot of the bed really bring the room to life. Every Bohemian bedroom needs a glittering chandelier.

Even a contemporary living room with white slipcovers and minimalist artwork can go Bohemian chic with piles of pillows in gorgeous colors and interesting patterns. Decorative trays like this one are perfect for holding colorful found objects in Bohemian spaces.

Picking up the deep hues from pillows and upholstery, colorful artwork pulls this space together. Velvet merlot pillows add texture while its neighbors bring in beautiful pattern and color.

PASTEL

Rather than echoing the creamy tones of the ice-cream parlour, these are not too sweet, but have a clear freshness in colour of the sorbets. Pastels are often thought too feminine, but many retro appliances and accessories available now are in shades of pastel, or go for a touch of vintage. They fit very well into white spacial areas. Small doses of pastel in accent pieces such as curtains, cushions, throws, crockery or just a feature wall, have a comforting effect without overpowering a clean spacial area.

MONOCHROME:

The simple combination of a black and white lets you go bold with pattern, whilst keeping that clean and crisp image. This limited colour palette of two very precise opposites in colour can be more powerful than any number of colour combinations. It emphasises both pattern and form. Thermochromic Wallpaper

Thermochromic inks where initially introduced in the 70s, being used on novelty items such as mugs that change colour when hot liquids are poured into them. These inks have now been applied to interior products such as wallpaper and fabrics in ways that mean when heat is applied to the product, a pattern is revealed. For example, in the top left image, heat is being applied to the wallpaper through the warmth of a hand, leaving a handprint behind in a lighter colour.

In the other wallpapers, when heat spreads from the radiator up the wallpaper, a pattern is reveled (as show in in the middle images) or parts of it change. In the top right photograph, as heat spreads up the wallpaper the plants blossom, and in the bottom images (showing before and after) butterflies are revealed. As the radiator cools, the pattern fades and goes back to its original state. Using these inks is a new way to create innovative and unusual patterned wallpapers to brighten up the home.

THE NEW OMBRE

Ombre is one of the most popular reoccurring trends in fashion and interiors. It adds a certain type of drama to any decor, whether subtle, or a more dramatic contrast with its strength of tones. I feel the new Ombre is more sophisticated this time around. New exciting ombre wallpapers by companies like Rockett St George, replace the time consuming paint washes of the past!

Ombre is a french word, meaning to shade. In fashion, it really describes the "dip- dye"effect given to fabric where shades of colour graduate from light to dark. Surprisingly the Ombre effect was achieved first in paper printing, and in the 1800's the Alsatian company Zuber became famous for its ombre prints. It was soon applied to block printed textiles, but was difficult, time consuming and very expensive to reproduce, so died out by the late 19th century.

But today after years of popularity in the fashion industry, its back where it started in the home, enhancing our interiors.
