I’m delighted to announce that Darren Palmer and I will be sharing the secrets of using PR and social media to grow your design business as part of the international industry seminar series at Melbourne’s decoration + design in July.

I’ll be sharing my experience, both as a journalist and magazine editor and as a blogger. If you have questions on how to use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to boost your design business and grow your brand, I’m your woman! I can also give you tips on how to spark the interest of a magazine editor or blogger.

Darren, who first shot to fame on reality TV shows homeMADE and The Block, is a regular in all the homes magazines as well as GQ. He’ll share his secrets to getting your work featured in the media and how that exposure has helped him grow his business and become one of Sydney’s most talked about up and coming designers.

Cadrys traditional and contemporary rugs at up to 50% off

The beautiful rugs at Cadrys are on sale but twice a year so if you’ve been wanting to invest in something a bit special but not quite had the spare cash, I’d recommend you have a look, and soon. Whatever your taste, there’s something for you in either their classic or contemporary showrooms. Here are a few of my picks, starting with the stunning and on trend Ferrara Radi Rocked by Jan Kath.

If you want the pick of the bargains, with all stock at 20 to 50 percent off, get down to Cadrys in Sydney’s Edgecliff before 27 May. Both showrooms are open 9.30am to 5.30pm seven days a week.

In the classic showroom you’ll find antique, classic and vintage rugs, kelims and textiles. I love the colours in this vintage Turkish kelim.

In the contemporary showroom you’ll find rugs by Jan Kath, Florence Broadhurst, Mark Cadry and one-of-a-kind contemporary masterpieces. I think Washed (below) by Mark Cadry is gorgeous.

I remember a time not so long ago when you had to import beautiful wallpaper into this country. Not anymore! Australia now has some incredible wallpaper choices available and it’s a good job because wallpaper has never been so popular. The latest designs by Brisbane interior designer Anna Spiro for Porter’s Paints are so typical of her colourful decorating style. I’m in love with them! There are three designs in a variety of colours.

Some of my other favourite Aussie wallpaper brands are Publisher Textiles, Dearwood, Moore & Moore and Signature Prints. Please don’t import wallpaper. There’s really no need!
