by berekwest (Posted Thu, 12 Nov 2009 07:38:37 +0000)
Hey Onno,
I am a student traveller from California. I currently attend UCLA but the best Business schools in California are at Berkeley: Haas School of Business (Ranked as one of the top 3 in the country) and the USC Marshall School of Business. Both of these schools offer MBA's. UCLA is also a great school but only offers a program in Business Economics, not Business Management. All of these schools are highly competitive. I Hope this helps. Best of Luck.
If you want some more info about California or American Universities written by students go here: http://www.gullivearth.com/en/guide/stu ... ted-states
I wrote articles about UCLA life.
I want to study in USA

by esl-languages (Posted Thu, 12 Nov 2009 06:04:36 +0000)
The number of students opting for language study abroad options is increasing day by day. With Study Abroad USA programmes, a student gets international exposure together with learning the new language. Even those students, who have vacations for a certain period of time, utilize their time by opting for study abroad language programmes. Such programmes are quite liked by the students who prefer to learn with fun. Even those professionals, who require making themselves proficient in a new language for professional communication, opt for these language courses which focus on the domain of their activity. These courses are known as specialized courses. However, if you think that for your study abroad course, one-to-one classes are the best, then you can opt for these classes as well.
Read the main topic related to this post

by MrsCasanova (Posted Wed, 11 Nov 2009 11:04:39 +0000)
I disagree. You have to have a greencard to be accepted to any college or university, even community colleges require it. If you are unsure check with your local college and ask about student aid for foreigners.
Read the main topic related to this post

I am an english speaker, and I do have the opportunity to learn the language before I go to the country of choice. I was wondering if there is anyone on the site who has been to Norway or Denmark, exchanged there, or lived there, who could tell me a little bit about everyday life. This would be more than appreciated and would really help me in my decision.
Read the main topic related to this post

by berekwest (Posted Tue, 10 Nov 2009 12:08:05 +0000)
I am an american college student at UCLA but I am a social sciences student, not a medical student.
I do know though, that the UK A levels are equivilant to American Undergraduate programs. Typically in the undergraduate level you won't be studying medicine as specifically as the Graduate level. You typically have a "pre-med" focus. Therefore any University that offers a pre med program will suffice. Some of the best schools for pre medicine in the US are UC Berekely, UC San Diego, and UCLA. I'm just partial to the west coast though. To help further pinpoint your decision you should check out some of the guides to student and daily life at these colleges that I posted: http://www.gullivearth.com/en/guide/stu ... ted-states and http://www.gullivearth.com/en/guide/dai ... ted-states
You'll love US University life.
Student Loan in Euros?

by rebuhner (Posted Mon, 09 Nov 2009 08:04:09 +0000)
Hi, I am an American citizen who will be studying at the University of Amsterdam beginning September 2010 as a graduate student. While I don't need an outrageous amount of loan money (since education is fairly affordable in Europe), I am going to require some. So, with the dollar as poor as it is, and with no upward swing in sight, is it possible to apply for a loan that can be paid out in Euros? I don't care if it is through the US or the Netherlands or somewhere else in Europe; anything to bypass this horrendous dollar is OK with me. I do have a cosigner (who lives in the US) and would probably need about 15,000 euros. Thanks for your help!
Read the main topic related to this post

Graduate School - What are my chances?

by gurlwidacurlz (Posted Mon, 09 Nov 2009 09:17:11 +0000)
Hello,
I realize many people ask the same thing over and over, but I figured it would only be appropriate to ask "what are my chances" in an international student forum.
Anyway, I've applied to two different MA programs in the University of Colorado at Boulder and Denver.
I have a BA in Brazil in Translation (Portuguese/English/French). My college transcripts are really good, I do not know my GPA, but all my averages have been above 8, except for 1, which was 7.6.
I have already taken the TOEFL, and scored 117/120.
I still need to take the GRE, but it is only required by UC Denver.
My letters of recommendation have been sent from all tutors who evaluated my final graduation project, in which I had a perfect grade.
This is the project, by the way, that I adapted into English to send as my writing sample.

Is this enough to know what are my chances?

Thank you.
Read the main topic related to this post

Deadline for admission -Fall 2010- MS in US universities

by Ransom@ven (Posted Mon, 09 Nov 2009 01:48:50 +0000)
I reside in India. My ward plans to study for a Masters degree in one of the top 25 US universities (Engineering/Technology) commencing in the fall of 2010. His GRE score is 1410/1600 & TOEFL 110/120. He has completed Graduate Engineering Degree from an Indian University in Electrical/Electronics & secured Distinction. My questions are:

1. When is the deadline to apply to the top 25 colleges/universities offering Masters in Engineering program if he is to gain admission for the fall session in 2010?

2. Which 3 state/national universities from among the top 25 would you recommend that are the least cost with good opportunities for part-time earnings during his study/stay in the USA ?

3. What are his chances to finance his studies via scholarships?

4. What is your advice about the university of choice if the discipline he wishes to choose is related to "Computer Engineering" / "artificial Intelligence"/"Embedded Systems" (any one of these)?

Grateful for useful information.
Ransom
Read the main topic related to this post

by Bukson (Posted Sat, 07 Nov 2009 05:09:33 +0000)
I am a citizen of Democratic Republic of Congo and I am now residing in the capital Kinshasa. I have already completed my universities studies since 2007 and I am a research assistant of the Scientific Committee of Biodiversity which is located in the faculty of sciences of the University of Kinshasa. I would like to further my universities studies in the U.S in order to gain a master’s degree. Still now I fulfill a part of the admissions requirements of some universities I want to apply for but the problem is the lack of money. I know that I have to be recorded as an effective student in order to apply for a scholarship but I even miss a sponsor for a bank statement. Would you please give me all the information you can about people in my situation, I mean who can’t even find sponsors for a bank statement.
Thank you!
Read the main topic related to this post
