The Hummer, popular as an all-American truck, is being sold by General Motors Co. to the Chinese Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery Corp.

Sales of the Hummer have plummeted as gas prices increased. With the minimum fuel usage of 16 miles per gallon or 14.7 liters per 100 kilometers, it has been eclipsed by other vehicles with less demanding engines.

Under its new owners, the Hummer is expected to be improved with more efficient engines that use less gas and have the ability to run on alternative fuels. There are also plans of adding diesel engines and six-speed transmissions.

Hopefully, the makeover will revive the Hummer's former glory.

Scents can have very emotional effects on people. Certain scents can immediately lift your spirit, make you feel light and joyful. Some scents evoke sensuality, creating a sexy mood. Others bring back much loved memories.

Browsing through the Classic Women’s Perfume section at ShopWiki made me smile. I found some of my old favorites there. I still have the last empty bottles of my Anais Anais eau de toilette and White Linen perfume in my drawers. I also remember my Mom using L’Air du Temps when I was a young girl. I loved it when she would dab some behind my ears.

Whenever I can afford it, I always buy perfume or eau de toilette instead of cologne. They last much longer on the skin. With really good brands, a single application is enough to make you smell glorious the whole day or night. These days I am enamored by Dolce & Gabbana’s Light Blue and Lanvin’s Eclat.

There was a time when every stylish home had to have an elegant home bar with chic glass racks. Film classics always had a scene at that bar. The pivotal seduction scene in The Graduate comes to mind right away.

I want such a bar, complete with elegant stemware and glassware. I can envision a hanging wine glass rack and separate bar glass racks. Of course, there should also be a handsome wine rack and a cabinet for other liquor.

Somehow, having the right setting for drinks makes it a much more enjoyable experience that is to be savored, alone or with company. Drinking becomes not just a quick fix but a ritual like fine dining. We can still bring back such elegance to our lives.

This item blew me away. Solid oak executive wood locker in elegant dark oak. I mean, really! They make wood lockers like that? And each unit costs $1,000.00 – that’s the sale price!

Wow! I guess these are the kinds of gym lockers we would see in chichi country clubs. Apparently there are specialty designer lockers. I wouldn’t mind having those in my home. Maybe there are used designer lockers for sale at garage sale prices? I would snap up that locker for sale in a minute. In my dreams!

All I’m familiar with are the regular school lockers made of thin metal sheets. My school locker was a drab gray. The gym locker was a drab green, I think. Not very memorable. Which just leaves me in awe of the solid oak locker. Such luxury!

I hate nagging but I always have to remind my kids to run the anti-virus, anti-spyware and anti-malware program whenever they complain that their laptops are slowing down. I run my cleaning program at least twice a day and still find about twenty to eighty infections every time.

I guess it’s something we just have to live with – the price we have to pay for going online. I think of it as dust that you just can’t keep out of the house no matter what you do. You just have to clean up regularly.

Despite the prevalence of airconditioning in most homes, I still prefer having ceiling fans in the living room, dining room and even the patio. They not only cost much less in power consumption but they are also a healthier alternative allowing fresh air to circulate in the home. Besides, they look so good.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince Seems Half-Baked

WARNING!!! SPOILER ALERT!!!

I was really psyched to like - even love - Harry Potter 6. Why not? I loved the other Harry Potter films. Imagine my disappointment when this one fell flat on me.

This was hyped to be the film where Harry and friends feel their raging hormones. Well, the pre-teen romance angle was cute in previous films so I was expecting it to be even better here. At least it should have been hiked up another notch. But no, the attempt at teen romance was sadly lacking in swoon-worthiness. There was not enough build up and the supposed highlights did not elicit the expected reaction - not even from my 13-year-old daughter who grew up on Harry Potter films.

For me,the big disappointment, though, was how Dumbledore's murder was handled. Or rather, mishandled. It was supposed to be the high point of this film, and of the entire series, for that matter. Apart from Harry Potter himself, it is Dumbledore who we all depend on in this series. I was expecting to feel as emotional as I felt when Gandalf died in Lord of the Rings. In Harry Potter 6, though, the killing of Dumbledore transpired onscreen with nary an emotional reaction from me. Nada. Zilch. And I feel cheated and robbed.

Just as much as we need oxygen, we need to be surrounded by plants. It’s not only because they clean up the air we breathe, but because they soothe our souls, as well. The sight of greenery, with or without flowers, somehow refreshes. Perhaps it is the reminder that new life still springs forth despite all difficulties.

Not all of us can have the luxury of gardens, though. Many apartments and townhouses, and especially condominiums, have no areas allotted for residents to have their own little plots of green. The solution lies in planters. We can still put plants wherever we want them even if all we have is concrete. A planter will provide our own little spot of rich earth.

Outdoor planters such as garden planters can be grouped together on the terrace or lanai, creating the illusion of a pocket garden. You can even have a small tree in a garden planter.

Window box planters would be perfect hanging outside kitchen windows. Imagine a window box planter filled with a variety of herbs ready to be picked.

There are various types of indoor planters to liven up your interiors, as well. You can choose from a wide range of decorative planters to find those that fit your interior design theme. Some high end planters can even look like art pieces. Put a high end planter on a matching pedestal to achieve an elegant look. A decorative planter does not necessarily have to be ornate, though. An indoor planter can also come in the form of an earthenware tabletop bowl holding a cactus on a corner table.

Whatever your lifestyle, you can find planters that reflect your taste. More importantly, these planters will enable you to bring in the greenery that will surely enrich your quality of life.

We laud Emma Watson's reaction to her accidental wardrobe malfunction at the Harry Potter premiere in London. She unintentionally flashed her nude-colored knickers when her gown's front slit opened up to her waist. Emma later laughed it off at the Letterman show, saying such malfunctions happen.

We note that the young lady was wearing "good girl" bikini underwear. Nothing scandalous there. We hope she stays that way.
