Drum n Bass legend Photek is at again, switching up genres with ease. He has done great tunes in a variety of formats, I particuarly liked his house music tune with Robert Owens "Mine To Give". Slowburn takes things a bit slower, with a growly acid bassline. Reminds me a bit of how Daft Punk sounded in Tron. EP dropping in Feb 2011!

Ahh, I just can't get enough of the Bag Raiders. Not only do they have super tight production, their lyrics are catchy as hell. GLOVES gives this track the Australian funk treatment, not straying too far from the original. What can I say about this track other than it involves three producers that I have loved over the years. I think we all know Diplo by now, he even has his own friggen Blackberry commercial! I was into Don Diablo way back when he was making hard-euro-trance, he has evolved quite a bit as an artist. And of course Tommie Sunshine, who has been kicking around the U.S. dance music scene for at least a decade. This remix takes the techno/electro approach for maximum dance-floor impact.

The boys from Boston, Hot Pink Delorean, have just released their first music video and it is a fun one. It reminds me a lot of the hair metal videos from the 80's where member of the band would get into various hijinks. It's a great clip that really lets the personalities of HPD shine through, I'm sure for a couple scenes they were just recreating things that may have actually happened! I feel like the heavy electro sound can get tired quick, but every now and then you get an artist who can bring something new to the table. Like many artists before them, F.O.O.L. are primed to blow up past their home country of Sweden. They have an aggressive, loud and dirty style - upfront and in your face. Their sound reminds me of Dada Life or Hot Pink Delorean. This is the 2nd remix they did of the Pendulum track "The Island". The first was a little more standard, I think this one is a bit bouncier with a bit more funk.

I always love it when I stumble across a producer that makes exactly the kind of music that I like. This is the case for Shook, who first came to my notice with his monster remix of Phoenix - Lisztomania. This time around he has finished an official remix for M.I.A. Treasure Fingers has been one of our favorites on the Fool's Gold roster for a while now. He comes from a Drum N Bass background, much like my brother and I. We were big Evol Intent fans back in the day, and still are! We have a lot of respect for artists that are able to make the genre leap. This remix of his new single is up-tempo with a fat, bouncy bassline and is sure to be a floor filler. It has vocoder accents sprinkled throughout to great effect, a great compliment to diva-esque main female vocal.
