How To Cloak Your Affiliate Links

I’ve recently been reviewing some of my subscribers blogs and one of the main things that cropped up more than once is uncloaked affiliate links.

One of the biggest problems with uncloaked affiliate links used to be Clickbank “hoplinks” as it is very easy to see the clickbank “nickname” being used and replace it, sothe referring affiliate ends up not getting credited for the commission, sometimes referred to as “hoplink hijacking”.

Now thsi shouldn’t be as big a problem any more as Clickbank now offer “cloacked” links, instead of the traditional nickname.productname.hop.clickank_dot_net format that it used to be.

However I still recommend using a simple html redirect file on your own site for all affiliate links for a number of reasons, most importantly being that they don’t look so obviously “affiliate” (or monetized) links, but also if you need to change the program you are promoting you can simply change the one file on your own site and anywhere that you have used that link is also effectively updated…

I finally found the time to go and take a lolok at the stats at the start of this month, and I was pleasantly surprised with the results, which you can see in the video below: -

so, for just a few minutes work I’m getting a 3-400% increase in traffic after just 3 months, and this is likely to continue…

and as this is the cheapest one way backlinking system I’ve come across, it’s gotta be the best deal I’ve seen for getting links in the last 12-18 months or more!

It’s time for a quick update on how well using AdSwaps is working for me in building my newsletter or subscriber “list”, and I’ve got a couple of screen shots which I hope will make it clear just how good a method this is….

I was first introduced to the idea of “adswaps” back in August last year by another marketer called Sean Mize.

He got in touch with me to ask if I would be interested in sending his free offer to my subscribers in return for him sending my free offer to his list.

Now I was used to doing “JV’s” with other marketers where we each send out the other’s paid product offer to our subscribers, and both make some profits in the process, but I’d never done “free swap”, or “adswap” as Sean called it, before, so I was interested in testing it out to see just how well it worked.

I gotta say I was pretty happy with the result.

here’s a snap shot of what happened to my sign up rate in August and September last year when I started doing these swaps: -

At the time I had around 5-6k subscribers on my list and you can see that whenever I did an adswap with a new partner it would result in an extra 100-200 confirmed optins for that day!

You can quite easily spot the spikes in the optin rates in the image above!

and now?

well, I have to admit, sometimes I get lazy and don’t do any adswaps for a week or so, like back at the start of January, but you can see in the image below what happens again when I set up just a few adswaps each week: -

With John Reese’s announcement that he’s closing down BlogRush yesterday, and Cody Moya recently redirecting his Link2Blogs site to one of his affiliate products, it looks like the only choice left for a decent traffic widget that is worth adding to your blog is the very same one that I tipped as the best back in March when I checked out all three traffic exchange blog widgets!

it’s been 7 months since my last post about blog traffic widgets and RealTrafficX is still getting me around 1% ctr across a range of blogs.

Now that may not sound like a lot, but as you can write the “ad” shown across the network for your blog, you can make sure that the people who do click through are going to be pretty well targeted, and therefore far more likely to convert.

traffic exchange blog widgets

I mentioned sometime ago that I was going test out one or two CPA ad networks, including NeverBlue.

Unfortunately I kinda lost track of that test and only got around to re-visiting it in the last couple of weeks.

the good news is that it’s been a “minor” success…

just over 10 days ago I picked a couple of CPA offers from NeverBlue that looked suitable for a couple of my test blogs, one in the “Dating & Romance” niche and one in the “Autos” niche.

Here’s the stats for the last 10 days: -

now here’s the important bit, the two blogs in question are both less than 3 months old and only have content being posted to them from the UniqueArticlesWizard.com plugin, so they’re “hands free” blogs for me.

I’ve done no linking for them, other than putting my list of RSS sites in (see the ping list here: – Best WP Ping List)

so they’ve basically gone from non money making, test blogs, to money making blogs after I took about 5 minutes to add a couple of banners to each one.

that income make not look huge, but it’s just from the last 10 days, so should be double that at least over a monthly period and that will add up to a nice bit of cash over a year…

and they’re also not getting much traffic yet, once I find the time to get some incoming links for them I’d expect the traffic to increase around 4-500% within 2-4 months, and the income from each should follow the same path.

So although it’s early days, I’m pretty pleased with the results and will be setting aside some time to add NeverBlue CPA ads to a whole bunch of my other test blogs ASAP!
