<p>This is one of my favourite types of strategies &#8211; the LITTLE THINGS that make a BIG DIFFERENCE. I am going to incorporate this with all my product thank you pages &#8211; if that increases customer service and repeat business by just 1 percent, it means thousands of dollars, but MORE IMPORTANTLY it means happier clients.</p>
<p>That is one of the fundamental principles of <strong>Exponential Marketing </strong>- ADDING VALUE every step of the way &#8211; EVEN after the transaction is complete.</p>
<p>After all a satisfied client can give you a referral and come back to buy something else&#8230;</p>

<p><span style="font-family: Calibri,Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Technology that keeps changing.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri,Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Technology that you cannot possibly totally understand.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri,Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">Technology that you don&#8217;t need to learn but LEVERAGE.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: Calibri,Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">I decided to blog about this because too many people think success on the Internet is about technology &#8211; it&#8217;s not. I contributed to this proof in my Ph.D. thesis and see anecdotal proof every single day.</span></span></p>

<li><span style="font-family: Calibri,Verdana,Helvetica,Arial;"><span style="font-size: 11pt;">&#8220;What can I do right now that I have been hesitating to do that I can TEST the results rather than try to learn how it works?&#8221;</span></span></li>

Most websites have been designed to fit on almost all monitor sizes except for really old ones. They can vary from 770 to 900 pixels wide.</p>
<p>Sometimes your computer might &#8220;zoom in&#8221; into a site. If you&#8217;re using Firefox, can you try pressing CTRL + 0 (or Command + 0 on a Mac) while on that page. This should reset the zoom to 100% so you&#8217;ll be able to see how it should appear to most people.</p>

If you haven&#8217;t done it yet &#8211; SHAME ON YOU!</p>
<p>Start GIVING them to clients so they will reciprocate and give YOU recommendations. Aim to give 1/day or /week when things are quiet. You’ll quickly start to see activity increase! Make sure when you accept the recommendations they give YOU, that the following are done. You’ll want to make these edits when you RESPOND to the Recommendation, not before. Consider it a mini-checklist.</p>
<h1><span style="font-size: medium;">SEO Tip: Linked In Recommendation Checklist</span><span id="more-813"></span></h1>
<ol>
<li>Your name is spelled correctly.</li>
<li>That your <strong>primary keywords</strong> are included – you might want to include your company name within the recommendation IF people search for it, otherwise it&#8217;s not critical that it be included.</li>
<li>Don’t add too many words, <strong>just fine tune what they say</strong> – leave it in their voice/tone/syntax.</li>
<li>Add <strong>specific keywords</strong> that you know people will be searching for.</li>
<li>Fix any typos or gross grammatical errors, but leave the vernacular that gives it character.</li>
</ol>
<p>That&#8217;s it -<strong> Keep It Simple Stupid</strong> works everytime.</p>

Today, I want to address some more copywriting tips that help you convert visitors into paying clients.</p>
<h1><span style="font-size: medium;">Conversion Clinic Tip #1: Feed your reader with bite-size chunks</span></h1>
<p><strong><span style="color: #990000;"> </span></strong>That means use: <strong>Short words. Short sentences. Short paragraphs.</strong></p>
<h2><span style="font-size: small;">Short words</span></h2>
<p>Short words are anchored in childhood, before our intellectual development takes place. So they speak directly to our emotions. George Bush knew this well &#8211; speaking to the lowest common denominator of society with unparalleled success &#8211; Democrat John Kerry at the other end of the spectrum spoke with such sophisticated language that even seasoned political pundits needed a thesaurus to decipher his cryptic messages!</p>
<p>In his book, <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/marcdussault">Words that Work</a>, Frank Luntz explains this with exceptional humour and revealing honesty &#8211; in fact it&#8217;s one of my &#8216;must read&#8217; books on my <a href="http://www.linkedin.com/in/marcdussault">Linked In Reading List</a> for anyone writing copy.</p>
<p>Of course being exponential, you might want to come up with words like <a href="http://www.antimimeticisomorphism.com">antimimeticisomorphism</a>, but that&#8217;s a discussion for another day!</p>
<p><strong>Short sentences</strong></p>
<p>A sentence is like a puzzle. It must be decoded by the reader. Aren’t long sentences more difficult to decode than short ones?</p>
<p>Sure. The long ones require you to think just to figure them out. They add needless overhead, narrowing the mental bandwidth available for your sales message. And they run counter to the pleasure principle, because thinking for most people, hurts.</p>
<p>Read this next long sentence and you’ll see what I mean …</p>

<p>Now paragraphs are another thing altogether. Each paragraph is a decision point. Your reader is asking himself, “Do I really want to tackle this one?” &#8220;Do I want to keep reading?&#8221;</p>
<p>How does he or she decide?</p>
<p>By the look of it of course …</p>
<p>Short paragraphs are inviting. They hold out the promise of instant gratification. Long ones are intimidating. They look like work. And who wants more work?</p>
<p>It’s human nature not to want to start something we may not want to finish. The same goes for paragraphs. It’s also human nature to want to remain consistent with our commitments. We don’t want to stop something we started. The same goes for paragraphs.</p>
<p>Of course you can throw that out the window and great MASSIVE paragraphs just to be antimimeticisomorphic, but the point is to do that as the EXCEPTION, not the rule.</p>
<p>So there you have it &#8211; the long and short of it.</p>

Through the National Broadband Network that is planned, small businesses have an enormous opportunity to expand their market reach and reduce their costs through the internet. BUT and there&#8217;s always a BUT&#8230; They can&#8217;t take advantage of those opportunities if only 54% of small businesses remain hooked up with just a web page (a.k.a. brochureware).</p>
