Newsletter Writing: The Marketing Material your Customers WILL Read!

When you provide a newsletter for your customers that provides information that they will enjoy and can actually use, they will stop throwing it away. If your newsletter is ALL ABOUT you, your business, and why they should shop with you...you might want to rethink your approach. If they're already customers, there's a good chance you have a "keeper".

Don't make the same mistake a lot of people do...

Don't keep telling your customers why they need to shop with you. They're already there! Your newsletter is your chance to befriend them! Give them advice about life issues. Give them your favorite recipe. Provide useful information that anyone can use. Make it fun. Make it light-hearted. Make it something they look forward to reading rather than dreading.

A newsletter can be one of the best marketing tools you use for your business. I write newsletters for dentists, vets, gift shops, cleaners, IT businesses, salons, and law offices. All of the really successful newsletters give the customers/clients a reprieve. Just as you would pick up a magazine to pass the time, a well-written and well-formatted newsletter will make your clients feel that they are getting to know you on a personal level.

One shop used to provide a monthly newsletter, but the owner felt it was too costly and we went to a quarterly publication schedule. Within a month the feedback was overwhelming. There were calls, emails and one or two letters protesting the lack of the monthly newsletter. The customers all comment when they come in how welcome they feel, how much a part of the "family" they feel when they get the newsletter.

They missed that personal touch and they weren't afraid to let us know! Within a month we were back on a monthly publication schedule. Due to popular demand...

Yes, your newsletter is a marketing tool.

Just make sure that you keep a good balance of marketing to your customers and clients with information, stories, and fun tidbits of knowledge. When surfing the internet, do you sometimes just stop and read something "frivolous" because it gives you a brief respite from the daily grind? Your customers and clients will appreciate the same thing from you. If you give them useful and handy information they will remember where it came from.

Your newsletter can be an email attachment, a PDF file, a "pick up in the store" hardcopy, or you can mail it. It is entirely your choice. Believe me, your customers want to hear a friendly word, and the more they "know you, like you, and trust you" the more they will be willing to spend their money with you.

Read your newsletter as if you are a brand new customer...have someone else read it and give you honest feedback. It might feel brutal. But let's be honest here, a little brutal feedback is easier than losing customers without knowing why. Don't have a newsletter? Consider adding one to your marketing scheme.

If you are a work from home internet business person, I am sure that the question has come your mind at one point or another, "How do I create my own prospect/customer list to market your business or opportunity?" Of course there is an answer which I will explain soon. There are several ways to do this but the best method is to create your own landing page and have your visitors give you their information with their own consent.

Your own list is the back bone to be become successful in marketing your work from home business opportunity. Your prospect and customer list is made of people who have shown interest in the products and services and opportunity you are offering for sale. You have to have your own list so you can market to them any current and new products that you introduce into the market. The List is the key to success. You have heard so many people saying this. This is one of the most crucial things to get started at the very beginning when you are starting out. Marketing schools emphasize that the person with the largest list makes more money than others. So what is in a domain name? A critical mistake most people make is choosing a domain name that is completely wrong for their website. This ends up costing lots of time, effort and most of all money. Your fist post should be lesson 1, the second post should be lesson 2, and so on. Place affiliate links into your posts. You can also use these blogs for generating Adsense revenue. Keep the number of lessons between 10-20. If you don't like writing or don't know the subject well enough, go to free article directories. Pick 10-20 articles of your subject area and convert them into a series. That's all.

In this lesson we will explore:

There are many people now trying to sell online and make a nice healthy income. The only trouble with that is most of them are trying to sell the things that others have been selling for quite a while and finding it hard to attract any buyers. The best thing that they could do is to try and target a certain audience with products that they really want. This is what is commonly referred to as Niche marketing.

The concept is that instead of trying to promote everything to everybody you are in fact targeting certain products for a certain type of person. This is a far more prudent way of selling online it is the old adage of giving the customer exactly what they want. This just means that you have to set up you website to cater for that certain kind of customer.

Here are a few ways to find that niche marketing:

Find something you like to promote and stick with it:

It is far easier to promote something that you are genuinely interested in and to sell it to other people. If you are really passionate about something the exuberance will always come shining through whenever you are telling people about the product. If they can see that you genuinely believe in this product then you will have a far better chance to sell it to them than if they know you are just trying to spin them a line.

Research where the profit is a possibility:

You can utilize the internet to find something that you are passionate about and see if it is a good seller or not. It you use the Google keyword tool that you can easily access online you can easily check this. If you do manage to find something that is selling really well and you are also interested in that particular product then the signs are good that this will be a success.

Try not to be too broad in your search if you can find something that is not as widely marketed and quite specialized then the chances are that you could be one of the first few to be marketing this certain product. This can give you a lot more potential customers than if you were trying to sell something that is already over populated with sellers.

Usually, the person who needs the work done will specify how much time you will have to complete the task. Many of these tasks are not limited to writing either. Additionally, if you do good work for employers on these sites, they will give you good reference on the site, and many times ask you to do other projects. An example of a freelance site is Elance.

Webpage creation is another way to make money online for free that is catching on fast. You can create pages on topics you are adamant about; give your take on things. These sites offer various ways for you to use your page in order to make money. Getting started, it may take a couple of hours or a few pages to get comfortable with doing it. However, once you get a few under your belt, you will find that it is relatively easy. Sites such as Squidoo are good for this.

Affiliate marketing is promoting other people's products online for a commission. Many people have come online and found that affiliate marketing is one of the ways to work full time from home. If you are going to do it full time, it will require a large time investment. However, many people have started by doing just a few hours a day after work, and growing. It's how I started and is a more advanced way to make money online for free. There are many paid training courses out there that will show you how to make money using free methods.

In today's time of 2010, everyone wants to have an online business. But, how do you get one started is the main question I always hear? If you keep reading, I will show you how.

Today I will teach you 7 steps that you can follow to be able to start your very own online business.

Step #1: You have to find a niche market and a product to sell. What I mean by a niche market is a market that is focused on one area of a larger market. Golf is a market and a smaller area would be golf clubs. Focus on selling golf clubs could be your niche product to sell in the larger market of golf.

Step #2: You need to buy a domain name that relates to your product and a hosting account. Here you want to find a domain name that relates to your product and your niche. There are many places that you can register a domain name from. You can do a Google search and find one. After that you will need a hosting account which will be like your place of business. When you good to a neighborhood store to buy products that would be an example of what a hosting account will be.

Step #3: You need to create a website. This again will be like the building that house's your product and will be what you use your hosting account for. Your website should be appealing to the eye, easy to navigate through, and make people want to take action. You also what to make it easy for people to contact you by having your name, physical address location, email address and maybe your phone number on your website.

Step #4: You next need to be able to generate traffic to this website. You will want to write articles and submit them to directories, write blog post, Twitter post, post to forums, MySpace and Facebook for free advertising. If you have money to spend you may want to try PPC advertising.

Step #5: You need to capture your prospects name and email address once your traffic starts to come in so that you can build a list. This is a very important step, as you will want to follow-up and be able to build a relationship with your prospect. This way people will buy from you over and over. You will need an autoresponder to do this.

Step #6: You will want to create a newsletter to use to follow-up with your prospect. This will be how you build your relationship with your prospect that was discuss in step 5. You want to give them free information that can help them in some way as well as give away free products too. When you do this you will be on your way to build a rapport with your prospects and they will more than likely want to buy your offers that you send to them.

Step #7: Make sure that you respond quickly and follow-up to any questions that your prospects may have. This is also key to building rapport with your prospects. One way to start off is by asking them if they have any questions as one of your first newsletters that you send. Another thing that you can do is create a poll or survey to use to ask your prospects what their problems are and then find products that will solve them. This way you can find out what they want to buy.

Positive Thinking Dangerous?
No Madam!

Barbara Ehrenreich the author of 'Smile or Die', was interviewed by Jeremy Paxman on newsnight tonite. The interview was to talk more about her controversial argument that Positive Thinking (PT) is dangerous. She based her argument on the two key points:

You are entitled to be angry after suffering a misfortune
PT is delusional
PT does not solve problems
That PT can make you accept blame that is not yours.

She wrote the book after being diagnosed with breast cancer. According to her, she was angry that she constantly told to see the positive side to her misfortune. This anger informed her decision to write the book.

Although I have not read the book, (and after her interview tonight, I have no intention to), but her 5 minutes interview is sufficient for me to comment on her book and opinion on positive thinking. I sympathise with her anger about the misfortune of cancer and I wish her quick recovery.

That said, it is clear that her opinion is coloured by her anger, and in that mode all logic and reason are out of the window. And surely had good scapegoat in positive thinking. May I attempt a correction of her obvious misconceptions?

Barbara, Positive Thinking does not guarantee a total escape from Mr Murphy of Murphy's law. It only promise that you will not be lying on your back for too long after the visit. You may suffer ill health, redundancy, financial difficulties etc, but with positive thinking you will find the silver lining that lays in the misfortune.
Positive Thinking encourages that after any misfortune, take a bit of time to gather your breath, then forge ahead and not be stuck where you are.
PT does not absolve you from danger, it reminds you of the hope that lies ahead.
I am tempted to agree with her that Positive Thinking is illusional, but unlike what she think, it is that quality that makes PT desirable. Anything that can dull the human pain in time of stress and misfortune is absolutely desirable. That is what placebos and pain relievers are all about, and these have been proven to work ninety percent of the time.
PT does not burden you with guilty conscience, it only encourages that you assess your contribution that your action or inaction has to play in the misfortune that befell you. And that is with a view to correct or avoid them as you move into the future.

Interestingly enough in answer to a question 'Don't you think that positive thinking is better than the other way in the face of adversity? Barbara answered, "I have not tried it yet". Maybe it is time that she did. For me there I will rather have positive thinking than the opposite.

Thought Provoking Book
"Makes You Go "Hmm"

Ok, a couple of disclaimers right up front: 1) SuperFreakonomics is a follow-up book to the authors' first book - Freakonomics. I didn't read Freakonomics, and as it turns out, you don't have to read the first one to get the second one - these aren't vampire novels; 2) More than likely, I would not have read Super Freakonomics if I hadn't been sent a copy to review. Why? The word "freakonomics" is way to close to the word "economics" which, for a creative person like me, is a topic much like a bottle of wine - puts me right out. But I will tell you this - freakonomics is MUCH more interesting than plain, old economics. Here's why:

In spite of the overly witty full title - Super Freakonomics Global Cooling, Patriotic Prostitutes and Why Suicide Bombers Should Buy Life Insurance - the book is actually a fascinating tale of how economics plays into even the most bizarre areas of modern life. I guess that is what authors Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner wanted to convey with that extravagant title - they should have just let the content speak for itself, but I know, its all about getting people to OPEN the book, I get it, really.

So anyway, back to Super Freakonomics. I really enjoyed this book! I did snooze a bit through Chapter 3, but for the most part, here are two guys with nothing to gain except royalties. They don't seem to have an overt political bend. They don't seem to want to convince me that there is only one right way to do things. They're not selling me anything I don't already own. But what they are doing is taking incongruent subjects, like Al Gore and Mount Pinatubo (OK, not TOTALLY incongruent), prostitutes and Santa Claus, real estate agents and pimps, and telling me that they do actually have something in common and here's how it effects my life.

You see, we tend not to draw the comparisons Steven and Stephen have drawn in Super Freakonomics. Most of us don't want to see these connections or can't because we only really look at the surface of things. The Steves have penetrated that surface and dove down deep. They've brought to light some things that make you go, "hmm." Such as the hand-washing rate of doctors - YES YOU HEARD ME. You'll have to read that chapter for yourself as its quite disturbing.

All in all, its a thought-provoking book that I highly recommend you read. If for nothing else than to give you a little perspective on the world around you, how we got here and where we can hope the future brings us. There's a lot of what I believe is truth, in this book. The chapter on Global Warming is really a good one. But so is the Monkey chapter.

Levitt and Dubner have clearly done a ton of research and another ton of analysis. Typical economists... But untypically, they've written this book in such a way to make it all relevant to what's happening in our world today. Thumbs up.

In his new book Dan Pink accomplishes two outcomes really well:

He consolidates some major social science research around human motivation into clear, straightforward discoveries
He challenges the current thinking and practice in the vast majority of our organizations.

The Great Debate

Am I motivated in my work primarily through what I receive from the organization and the key players around me or through the fulfillment of needs and desires that reside within me?

These are the dueling positions of extrinsic vs. intrinsic motivators that have fueled a debate in psychology over the last eighty-plus years.

On the one hand you had B.F. Skinner who saw all behavior as a pure stimulus-response mechanism and F.W. Taylor who studied the physical micro movements of a laborer to determine the optimum way to work with minimal variation or "interference" from the worker's mind. According to their school of thought, rewards and punishment, or what Pink calls "Motivation 2.0," are the only way to get people to maximize their productivity. ("Motivation 1.0," by the way, is triggered by our very basic need for food and other necessities for our survival.)

On the other side of the debate are professors Edward Deci and Richard Ryan and others, like Pink, who claim Motivation 2.0 strategies don't work for most new jobs that are emerging today and into the future. Rewards and punishment cause our minds to focus very narrowly on accomplishing the immediate task. But narrow focus doesn't serve us well in the new jobs being created that require us to see patterns, work with concepts, address meaning, and come up with alternative strategies in a world of constant churn.

Furthermore, Deci and Ryan's research confirms that, except for routine, mindless jobs, additional money will spur, at best, a brief uptick in performance. Then motivation actually starts to fall ("What have you done for me lately?").

Clearing the Decks for Intrinsic Motivation

Money both is and isn't a motivator! As Frederick Herzberg showed us decades ago, if you don't provide (perceived) "fair" salaries and benefits your people will be demotivated. But pay them enough, plus a bit more, and they still won't be motivated. They just will be no longer demotivated. Dan Pink calls this "taking money off the table."

But now these adequately remunerated employees are ready for what the author calls "Motivation 3.0." Instead of rewards and sanctions applied by bosses and companies, intrinsic (i.e. internal) motivators kick in. Pink's research reveals three such motivators:

Autonomy - the freedom to have significant control over how you do your work to generate the performance results to which you agreed
Mastery - the opportunity to get continually better at something that matters to you. This is an elemental human desire
Purpose - having your work contribute to the well-being of people or to outcomes beyond your own self-interest

Why I like this book.

I recommend Drive to managers because of its clarity, its easy reading-the author writes with a journalist's flair-and especially because of its message. A sizeable majority of our governments, service organizations and private sector enterprises are mediocre and, in some cases, toxic places to work. If we are to turn these into great places to work, leaders have to take a good look at their beliefs about what motivates people. All too often, their assumptions that determine their management style are out-of-date and counter-productive for a 21st century world.

As Dan Pink presents so well, the verdict of science is in. Managers have to let go of their need to control the behavior of their staff. They have to realize that human beings, in all their infuriating and marvelous complexity, cannot be manipulated into performing better. But employees most definitely can be enrolled. You do this by providing a work experience that gives them the latitude to grow and to make a difference.

What's missing for me.

The author covers a huge topic in his book. That said, there are three areas I would have liked him to address:

How you do motivate people in jobs where any opportunity for variety and creative expression has been designed out of them? Toll booth operators, ditch diggers and, of course, burger flippers come to mind. And then there are those jobs where a strong union will not agree to any deviation from rigid, collectively bargained job duties. For the manager who sincerely wants to motivate his or her staff, the fixed design of jobs and work processes, as well as externally bargained work rules, represent the "elephant in the room." So often managers' hands are tied, yet they are still expected to produce solid results and create a satisfied employee group.
What does the science have to say about sales people? Monetary rewards linked to sales quotas are the fuel these people run on. I know there is the personal satisfaction in closing a deal but the scoreboard of choice remains money.
What role do employees themselves play in the preservation of Motivation 2.0? I teach in my own presentations that deep within almost all of us is the desire to make a difference, to have the work we do each day matter in some way to some people. That said, ask most employees what is missing for them in their work and their gut reply will be "more money." Not only do the assumptions and beliefs of managers have to change. Employees must get in touch with their own need for autonomy, mastery and purpose, be aware when these elements are missing for them, and take responsibility for the level of work motivation they choose to have.

Dan Pink's main thesis is that, despite the unassailable truths that have emerged from the field of social science and organizational behavior, when faced with the pressure to increase performance, most managers still fall back on the twin strategies of dangling more money or threatening negative consequences. In Drive Dan is on a quest to raise our consciousness to this mismatch. He is a very good communicator and I believe he will transform a lot of managerial minds.

Does the Home Based Business Industry Have a Bad Name?

The answer to that is Yes and No. Let's start with yes. There are several yes answers and they stem from a couple of different factors, you will get a yes answer from those that have failed in the industry and could not find success. You will also get a yes answer from those outside of the industry that have had run-ins with inexperienced people in home based businesses that were unprofessional, pushy and misrepresented their products and company.

Finally, you will get a yes answer from the media, who thrive on breaking a big story. Now the media is not altogether wrong. They base their opinions on polls and write -ins from disgruntled people, largely due to the tactics that were used 20-30 years ago. The commercial product industry does not like these businesses, but are usually not very vocal because of their advertising budgets that can squash the average network marketer.

Now, onto the No's. Obviously, the home based business name isn't that tarnished because it is the number one sought after business opportunity in the world. Another reason is that the home based business industry has tightened up the reigns on what distributors can say, do, and claim. That is a good thing. It keeps everyone honest.

Another reason it does not have a bad name is because of how diversified it is. You can find any product that you like now, even commercial products. With the introduction of affiliate programs, everybody is happy. Health and Wellness and online virtual shopping malls have come to the forefront.

There are more opportunities available to generate significant income than any other time in history thanks to home based businesses. The only problem is that due to the overwhelming increase in home based business enrollment, the lack of business experience and training is still very prevalent and there continues to be a huge number of dropouts and failures. While the opportunity to strike your fortune is offered, having home based business success can still be a challenge.

Home based businesses are a terrific opportunity, but one must educate themselves about the company, products and services and understand the company compensation plan. Plan on these two things if you are already involved or are planning to get involved, you will have to invest in your business in the form of proper training and start up capitol. If these two things are left out, your business and dreams will fail.

Home based businesses are not 'Get rich quick schemes' and never were, However they are a lot of fun and offer anyone whatever niche they choose, so finding a business for you depends on your interest and time. Not everyone is cut out for network marketing, but even the novice can do it and succeed. Expect slow growth in the beginning but big dividends in the end.

o Make a list of all the important areas of your life (family, work, spiritual).
o Calculate the amount of time you spend on each weekly.
o Make a list of your goals.
o Look at your goals and see if the important areas of your life are represented.

When looking at the answers to the above questions you have a problem if:

o You spend more than 70% of your available time on one area of your life.
o The important areas of your life are not represented in your goals (for instance if your goal is to become a monk and there is no place for your wife and kids in this goal).

Our situations change constantly and therefore your balance will also be affected constantly (sickness, retrenchment, death in the family and divorce to name a few). It is important to re-assess your lifestyle and balance regularly in order to maintain your focus and adapt your goals.

Your spiritual life is extremely important and it is a great motivator and guide if you allow it to be an important part of your daily routine. Quiet time spend in the mornings and evenings reading the Bible and praying for guidance revitalises the soul.

When you live your life with a healthy balance between all of the important areas of your life, problems tend to become opportunities and success follows. One of the tools towards living a balanced life is to join a group of likeminded people. This will allow you access to information and ideas and also fellowship.

Another important tool is communication. You need to communicate with your family/friends and allow them to communicate with you. By communicating you can express your feelings and better understand the feelings of others. It is dangerous to isolate yourself and this can quickly lead to depression and frustration.

Success without anybody to share it with is empty and meaningless. Always remember that what is important to you may not be important to anyone else. As stated by Sir Winston Churchill " The power of man has grown in every sphere except over himself".

The question "How to make money blogging" sits high on every blogger's mind. In fact I received many questions on "How to make money blogging" when I conducted my first web cast to answer my subscribers' most pressing questions on Blogs and RSS.

You can make money Blogging in a number of ways, and in this article I share with you up to nine strategies in which you can make money blogging.

1. Make Money Blogging by Selling Advertising Space

Before the advent of Blogs, we have e-zines and selling advertising space on ezines was a popular way to earn extra money. If you run your own Blog, you can let others advertise in your Blogs with banner ads, solo ads, sponsor ads, classifieds and so on.

Now that we have Blogs, you can repeat the same business model that e-zine publishers do, that of selling advertising space.

One popular advertising company that helps Bloggers look for advertisers is Blogads (www.Blogads.com).

Besides placing advertisers ads on your Blog, you can also make money Blogging by placing Google Adsense into your Blog.

In my "Marketing Rampage with Blogs and RSS" Videos, I show you how you can customize your Blog template to include the Google Adsense into your Blog template so that you can make money blogging.

2. Make Money Blogging by providing technical services such as Blog hosting or setting up Blogs

You can also earn money blogging by providing technical services such as helping people to set up their Blogs or providing your own Blog hosting service.

One example of this is http://www.typepad.com . This is a Blog hosting service provider that charges a monthly fee. Typepad lets you create your Blog and they will host your Blog for you, and provide you with a number of Blog features.

3. Make Money Blogging by setting up joint venture marketing

Joint Venture marketing is a powerful marketing strategy employed by many top online marketers.

Basically how joint venture works is this: You promote person B's products to your subscriber and customer list, and you get a cut from whatever sale that follows from this promotion.

You can apply the principle of joint venture marketing to Blogs as well. If you have a substantial readership to your Blog, you can also promote or endorse certain products to your Blog readers and this way, and split the profits from the sales generated. This is another way to make money blogging.

4. Make Money Blogging from using the Membership model

Over time, if your blog has lots of postings and provide good quality content, you can consider turning it into a membership site and charge access for it, again giving you another avenue

5. Make Money Blogging by turning your products into Sales.

Another way in which you can make money blogging is to repackage your Blog contents into an e-book or an audio product and sell it. For example, if you run your own Podcasting show or an 'online radio show', you can easily compile your podcast recordings into a CD compilation and sell it.

6. Earn Money Blogging by Swapping blogs

Your blog contents can be turned into an RSS feed. If the content is good, you can look for web businesses that are looking for good content for related topics and sell their feed to them.

8. Make Money Blogging by well, asking!

Hey, who's stopping you from putting a PayPal donation jar or button on your Blog? After all, there are lots of generous people out there you know.

9. Make Money Blogging as an Affiliate Marketer

Another way you can make money blogging is by promoting other people's products on your Blog. This is also known as affiliate marketing.

In affiliate marketing, you get paid a commission when someone clicks on your affiliate link and makes a purchase. Depending on the subject of your Blog, you can recommend products that solve people's problems.

For example, I had a subscriber who asked me how she can blog about cats and make money from blogging about cats.

Ever so often, a company comes along and revolutionize the industry in which it operates. More often than not, that company goes on to become a household name. However that is not true; with this technology you will receive 3,000 channels or more. Personally I feel that 3,000 channels are plenty. The picture quality that you receive from these channels will be clear as day; however if you have a HD quality television; then you may be a little disappointed with the picture quality. You will also receive some of the premium channels that you may or may not receive right now like; HBO, Cinemax among others. Yes you may have them currently; however most likely
you are having to pay a fee to watch them.

All of us want to improve at something at some time in our life. And all of us find ourselves in the position to help others improve. One of the tools that aids in this improvement is coaching.

Author Ken Blanchard calls feedback the "breakfast of champions." The truth is that giving feedback is one key to successful coaching and being open to and receiving feedback is one of the most important skills we can learn if we want to maximize our productivity and success.

There are many useful techniques and guidelines for giving and receiving feedback. Since feedback is such a central skill, we need to understand more than just the "how to's" - we need to go underneath the techniques, and behind the guidelines and go to the source.

There are three sources of all coaching and feedback and one factor will dictate how successful any of it will be, regardless of the source. All the techniques and approaches we have read, learned and used come from these four pieces of information. When we understand feedback at its deepest roots, we can transcend the techniques, using them as truths rather than as fill-in-the-blank formulas.

The Three Sources

All coaching or feedback - whether requested (and received) or given (or offered) comes from one of or some combination of these sources.

Expertise/Experience. Often we are in a position to provide feedback or coaching to someone who isn't as expert or experienced in something as we are. Because of our experience and knowledge we are in a great position to give them wise counsel. And when you want to learn something, one of the things you will do is find an expert. When we can get coaching from a true expert we will be open to what they have to say because we value the information so dearly.

Relationship/Caring. Sometimes we provide coaching just because we care about the other person. And often we will seek out the perspectives, coaching and input of those that we know care about us. A strong relationship can make us more willing to give feedback, and that same strong relationship will make us much more open to receiving it.

Power/Position. At work, this is the position we typically think of coaching coming from. The position of power could be the boss, supervisor or manager. It could also be the priest, teacher, or parent. We have all received feedback from people in a position of power. And when we find ourselves in this position, we know that this is one of our jobs - to give coaching to those that work for us or are in our care.

Obviously some coaching stems from a combination of these factors. The stronger the connection to these sources, the more interested we typically are in giving feedback. And the more closely we see others in connection with one or more of these sources, the more likely we are to seek out and listen to the feedback they provide us.

The Master Key to Successful Feedback

If you want to be more successful in helping others succeed, regardless of the source or sources of your coaching, you need to clearly understand this master key.

If you want to take advantage of and be open to any coaching or feedback you receive, you must understand this key as well.

The master key to successful feedback is intent.

Stated simply, when our intent is clear and pure; when we really are giving feedback and coaching with the very best for the other person in mind, it will be more successful. And if our purposes are vindictive, punitive, meant to "fix" someone, or come from our frustration or anger it will be less successful.

In other words, coaching shouldn't be about us, but about the other person and their success.

Since we have all received much coaching and feedback in our lives, we know this is true. When we sense that the feedback we are receiving is valuable and comes from a perspective of truly wanting us to improve, we are more open to hearing and applying it.

How to Use This Knowledge

When you are in the role of coaching others, always get a clear goal or intention in your mind, and make sure that in your conversation you communicate this intent, both in your words and your non verbal behavior. Recognize too the sources from which your feedback come. Help the other person see where the feedback is coming from and why it is important to them, as you see it.

When you start from this perspective, your coaching will be much more successful than if you follow a model or prescription perfectly. It won't matter if you muff up your words a little bit. The techniques are useful, because they are rooted in the sources. When you focus on a clear intent and a solid foundation on the sources though, the techniques and approaches will work much better.

If you are receiving feedback and truly want to improve, assume the other person's intent is pure. Take the feedback as a useful gift (even if it doesn't feel like it at the moment - remember that not everyone understands this as well as you do now.). If once you have received the feedback you determine that the intent wasn't clear or at worse, was even counter productive to your success, you can then decide what you will do with the advice and counsel you received.

The next time you are a giver or receiver of feedback, think of these sources and of the master key. When you use this knowledge you will be much more successful on both sides of any coaching conversation.

It used to bother me when someone called me a Quitter! In junior high school I quit the baseball team. Look, there goes Kyle. He's a Quitter!

Then after high school I had the tremendous honor of being accepted to attend the US Military Academy at West Point. What an amazing place. This is the hallowed training ground of Ulysses Grant, Robert E. Lee, Eisenhower, MacArthur, Patton, Norman Schwarzkopf, General George Custer - oh well, you can't win 'em all. At least Custer didn't. But he did graduate from West Point in 1861 (last in his class).

But I was there at West Point where these military icons had their early formal military training on their way to becoming famous for their roles in American history.

And then I quit.

I quit and went home. I had been at West Point only one month. And I quit. When I got home there were some people who were surprised to see me. They said, "You quit? You didn't even give it a chance. How could you quit?" Even though they didn't say it out loud I could hear their tone of voice say, "What a loser!"

But now I don't mind so much if people call me a Quitter. In fact, I've been quitting several things -- on purpose. And I think you should be a Quitter just like me.

o Quit whining. No one wants to hear it. In fact, people avoid you. "Oh no, here comes Susan. I wonder what her crisis of the day is today."

o Quit making excuses. A new cadet entering West Point is permitted to answer a question with one of only four responses, "Yes sir; No sir; Sir I do not understand; or No excuse sir." This last response teaches cadets to accept responsibility for whatever happens, even when things may be beyond their control.

o Quit procrastinating. We all know we have things we need to do: work on the budget, return those phone calls, mow the grass, finish that proposal. But we get lazy and say to ourselves, "As soon as I check my e-mail (again), I'll get started on that project...After this episode of Law & Order I'll get busy...This weekend I'll block out some time..."

Blah, blah, blah. Pretty soon you wake up 15 years later wondering where the time went.

o Quit dating the TV set. A USA Today article stated the average American viewer watches 31 hours of television every week. 31 hours! I'm not saying you have to unplug the TV and sell it on eBay. But what if you cut that number in half? What could you do with an extra 15 hours of time every week?

Read a good book? Write a good book? Go back to school in the evenings? Learn another language? Build a treehouse with your kids or grandkids?

Instead, you're sitting on the couch eating ice cream, yelling at Simon on American Idol, and watching someone else follow their dreams!

o Quit being average. Even if you're not in the top 1% or top 5%, at least be in the top 50% of those things that really matter to you. You can at least be in the 51st percentile or higher - as a supervisor, an employee, a mom, a husband, in personal finance - whatever areas are the most important to you.

So, What is a "Money Making Blog"?

OK, that's when someone stops me and says,"What's a Blog?"

So, Lets start at the beginning!

Blog Basics

A blog is sometimes called web log or weblog. It is a type if online journal or diary, often including personal comments as well as web links and images. Many people keep a blog as a type of personal creative exercise, but you can easily use this popular online type of writing to market your business. Blogs are very popular right now and they can be a great and inexpensive way to contact more customers.

The great thing about blogs is that people read them for fun. Customers may be becoming more jaded about advertising, but they will gladly read a blog that has some interesting things to say. Many top companies are using blogs to deliver a better and more personal message about their companies - and the strategy seems to be working.

Starting a Blog

Starting a blog is as simple as finding a space online to write - and the time to write. To begin a blog, first develop a theme idea or blog idea. You may want to look at other people's blogs to do so. In general, you will want to develop a central theme for your blog in the same way that columnists develop a theme for their articles. This helps ensure that your blog is not too "scattered."

Next, find some place to publish your blog. There are a number of sites - both paying and free - that give bloggers a chance to publish their material. You may also want to simply set up your blog on your web site, especially if you already have an active web site.

Writing Your Blog

Once you have a place to publish your blog, you will have to set aside some time each week to develop new content. When writing your blog:

o Write simply and clearly. Use small paragraphs and spell check before uploading. Your readers will trust what you have to say if you say it well.

o Go easy on the advertising. The idea of a blog is to give readers something fun and exciting to read and look at. You will have more readers if you comment on the world and are entertaining, rather than just hype your product. Consider writing about your day, the atmosphere your workplace has, and culture, rather than just your company.

o Consider many types of content. Blogs allow you to upload images, create links, and allow users to make comments. Your blog will have many more readers if you make your blog exciting with these pluses.

Promoting Your Blog

Just putting your blog online is not enough. After all, there are many millions of blogs on the web right now, so unless your blog is on a high-traffic site, you may not get readers unless you advertise. You can easily advertise your blog without spending a cent by mentioning your blog in your emails and web pages or newsletters. You can also enter in online competitions - if your blog wins a prize you are more likely to get a constant flow of traffic to your blog. You can also ask ezines and other content providers to review your blog, which will also draw readers.

Blog Marketing Ideas That Sell

Once you develop a blog, you will want to use the best blog marketing strategies you can to sell your company. However, marketing blogs are different from personal blogs and blog marketing or advertising is very different than other forms of marketing.

Make Your Blog a Customer Draw

In order to make your blog a powerful marketing tool, you need to get your customers and clients to see it. That means that you will need to advertise and provide content that gets attention:

o Make your blog visually exciting. Choose an attractive background colour and provide photos or images. Consider sound. Develop your blog as you would a web site, with the same visual appeal. Some bloggers even add video and sound to their blogs. There is no need to spend many hours composing art works, but know that simple text on a white background may simply not draw as many readers as you like.

o Make sure that your customers know that your blog exists. Providing some targeted advertising on the Internet is not hard. Try some link exchange programs with web sites, blogs, and ezines that have similar content to your blog. In many cases, simply providing a link to another web site can convince that web master to provide a link to your blog.

Make Your Blog a Company Pusher - Without Being Pushy

Your blog needs to promote your company. However, if you are too heavy-handed, you will not be terribly exciting and may push customers away. That's why you should aim for only a small amount of content that actively pushes your company. Do suggest newsworthy items that will lure your readers in. For example, writing "today we launched a new division - now expecting mothers can take advantage of our fashions" is much better than sales copy such as "buy our hot new maternity fashions now."

Give Your Readers What They Want

Studies suggest that as many as a quarter of Internet users tune into blogs. That means that if you can give your blog readers what they want, you can be reasonably sure of having a decent audience. Among the content that you may want to include in your blog:

o Tips and advice. Many successful marketing blogs are much like successful consumer magazines - readers tune in to read content that is useful. A computer company can offer computer tips and advice, for example, while a writing service blog can include daily ways to boost writing skills.

o Interest. If your personal or business life is fascinating, then great. There are many successful marketing blogs that detail the exciting lives of company presidents who are also hobby racecar drivers or skydivers. This sort of material can ensure a steady audience.

o Humanity. One of the things that blog readers are most interested to see is the face behind the company. Many blog readers like a company run by people who have similar concerns. Building humanity into your blog by detailing your company's efforts to help the community, for example, is a great way to build credibility and customer loyalty.

o Style. Many readers just love to see a gorgeous, well-written blog. Plenty of marketing blogs simply provide interesting content and nice graphics and do quite well in drawing readers and customers.

Get More Readers for Your Blog, Get More Customers

There are several ways to make your blog one of the "hot" blogs online. Traditionally, those companies that have the largest star-power have had the most popular blogs, since everyone loves to read about celebrity or success. However, a great many smaller companies and individuals are developing large followings on the web. You can, too, with this simple lesson.

Keep it Rich

Keyword-rich, that is. Blogs are a great way to generate keyword-rich content, especially if you update your blogs each day. In fact, for some smaller businesses, blogs make more sense than hard-to-create web pages. Blog software makes creating a blog almost automatic while the spiders on search engines seem to favor high-quality and often updated keyword-rich blogs.

Steps to take:

o Keep keyword content high with plenty of keywords. As you write your blog entries, do try to use not only keywords having to do with your topic, but also synonyms for your keywords. This will help your readers find you more easily on the Internet. For example, if you offer discount fashions, use a variety of keywords, including "discount fashions," "cheap designer wear," "discount clothing" and others.

o Provide quality, often-updated content.

It will help ensure that people looking for information on your topic will always find you through a search engine.

Join the Community

Make sure that you promote your blog by joining the blogging community. Creating a larger presence for your blog online will result in more blog readers and possibly, more customers:

o Add the address for your blog to email signatures and include mention in any ezine or email newsletter you have to let readers know about your blog.

o Mention your blog on appropriate forums. For example, if your company offers resume writing services, consider writing about your blog in job-hunt forums.

o Allow for readers' commentary on your blog. Many online blog publishing programs already allow this. If your readers can post their comments and read the comments of other readers, they are more likely to return to your blog regularly, and so keep your company name in mind.

o Make your blog searchable through your interests. Many blog programs allow you to create a user profile, which allows readers to search for you and your blog by interest topic and locations, in many cases. Do not overlook this simple way to draw readers. Simply fill out your profile, taking care to use many "interests" to attract more readers and browsers.

MLM has traditionally been referred to as "word of mouth marketing" or "conversational marketing," meaning you talk to people you know, friends and family, to market your MLM product or business. These people are your warm market.

These days, though, a lot of people are looking to the internet as a new channel for marketing MLM. With the power of social media sites like Twitter, Digg, and Facebook, people are feeling the power of reaching out and touching people way outside their own circle of friends.

But as "social" as social media may appear, it's still a "cold market," and many online MLM newbies are finding the online marketing road rocky and the going a bit steep. The success rate seems low.

Why Don't My Online MLM Efforts Pay Off?
I get multiple emails a week from people who ask me why their online MLM efforts don't seem to be producing any results. These people are out there promoting their MLM business online with article marketing, ezine advertising, pay-per-click, and any number of other methods. So why doesn't it seem to be working?

The truth of the matter is that online MLM does work. It just takes time. Like any cold marketing approach, online marketing has a longer life cycle than marketing to your warm market. You also face a higher rejection rate when you market to people who don't know you, as opposed to people who do.

Online MLM Marketing Pros and Cons
Should you pursue online MLM marketing as promotion channel? Let's take a look at the pros and cons of online marketing.

Online Marketing Pros

- if you make an idiot of yourself your friends won't find out right away, if ever
- you can market online 24/7, not just when people are awake
- even an introverted hermit could use this method
- you mostly don't face rejection in person, you have lack of online traffic
- no need to dress "nice" for presentations
- it is low cost, since online marketing can be done with mostly elbow grease
- you can reach many more people than one-on-one marketing with a warm market
- online marketing can protect your privacy if you still work a day job and don't want people to know you are doing MLM

Online Marketing Cons

- the initial lack of traffic to your site or blog can be highly discouraging
- you often don't know what you're doing wrong because no one tells you (you built it, they just didn't come)
- it may take quite a long time to establish an online presence, an even longer to develop a trusted online presence
- it can much longer to get your initial signups
- you will probably have to do some pioneering marketing on your own since most MLM companies are not up to speed with effective online marketing

Online MLM: Sleep, Creep, and Leap
So have I scared you off yet? I hope not. Online MLM marketing is the wave of the future for MLM marketing. The MLM industry, as yet, just hasn't caught up with the realities of how to market online. As I have often said, people who want to do online MLM need to learn from the best online marketers outside the MLM industry. Those people know how to market anything online, MLM or not.

To me, the online MLM life cycle is a lot like the life cycle of your typical bamboo plant, which is sleep, creep, and leap. The first year you plant bamboo, it just sits there and does nothing. It's sleeping. The horticulturists include a little note with the bamboo telling you that this is normal and not to panic. The same goes for online MLM. For the first 50 blog posts you write, your blog just sleeps. It sits there. Nothing happens. Sigh.

The second year in a bamboo plant's life, it creeps. You'll see a few little shoots appear inches away from the parent plant. The shoots are tiny, but at least there is some visible action! Plus, you know your bamboo plant didn't die. With an MLM blog, you'll see some creep happening, usually after your first 50 posts. People will start to drop by and comment on your posts. Traffic to your blog and website pick up. People begin requesting information and interacting with you. Yeah! You're online efforts are not dead in the water.

Finally, the third year of a bamboo plant's life is one of frenzied action: leap! Shoots start showing up everywhere (even where you don't want them), and you start thinking about damage control so that you don't end up with bamboo in the middle of your yard. After about 100 blog posts, you've developed an online voice and your own unique style. You get signups for both the product and the business. You have developed a method and process that works for you. Your business grows in leaps! You now spend more time teaching others your technique than marketing directly. Now the leverage of an MLM business really starts to show up in your commission check.

Bamboo and online MLM are similar in their sleep, creep, and leap cycles, but it doesn't often take 3 years to achieve leap in MLM. Depending on how much time you can devote to marketing your MLM business online, hitting 100 blog posts may take way less than 3 years.

Can You Wait for Online MLM Success?
Now the question becomes whether you are patient enough to wait through sleep and creep, to make it all the way to leap. Are you patient enough to write, post, and promote 100 blogs before your business explodes? Are you willing to spend the time to develop your own unique online voice? Do you want to commit that much time and energy?

Some people do and some people don't. Whatever you choose, knowing the facts up front can really help. What will you choose?

TraVerus Travel is changing the face of travel and network marketing, combining both to make one well oiled machine. In addition to Travel, TraVerus has also created an exclusive new line of products, this gives their agents the added ability to promote a solid amount of travel related products, which are high in demand. This combination of products and travel services provides a high income potential for their agents to have success.

The three Dimensional or (3D) compensation plan offers weekly payouts, a binary system which allows the agents to profit on the efforts of others and of course the travel agent's earning potential from booking travel. There is also whats known as a 3x9 matrix, which enables agents to capitalize on the efforts of upline agents, from whats known as spillover bonus income. So all in all, Traverus is a powerful vehicle.

There are weekly trainings on every aspect of the structure. There is a trainer to handle the travel agent education and others that teach the network marketing field methods. however, even though there is allot of training, some people are still failing. The other reason is because their methods of training does not fit every type of personality. The method I am going to share, is for people who hate rejection and talking to strangers. I want to reach the people who would rather prospects to contact them.

This technique is the only way some of the top online network marketers will even touch a home business. This automated email list will keep growing and growing, because the upfront commissions from the affiliate tools will fund more and more leads to re invest into the funnel, creating an endless cycle of cash and leads. there is no limit on how huge a list can get. Just imagine one email going out to a list of 3000 people about traverus travel, do you think you might get a sale or two? "You betcha!" Simple huh?
