I'm sorry for the recent lack of updates. For some reason, I don't feel very motivated to maintain this blog anymore. It was a lot of fun the very first weeks, but it got more boring day by day as I couldn't find anything worth posting. When I wrote the last few posts it just felt like I would pick a random game or something, just so that I'd have something to post. My original thought behind this blog was to post longer and more genuine posts, which would explain the sites and games more deeper, and I would also sort out the games that was actually good, rather than posting any game I could find.

I won't delete this blog though, it might be fun to read through sometime and remember what I used to like. I might even write a post here every now and then when I find something extremely good, but you shouldn't expect anything. So until we meet again, have a nice day browsing the internet.

Curveball

Curveball is a very entertaining "pong-clone" type of game. The principle is the same; try to bounce the ball into the goal behind your enemy, while at the same time defending your own goal. The most obvious difference from the original pong is that now you have another dimension to move in, you can move up, down, left or right. The enemy is also now in front of you, instead of to the side. The trick is to try to curve the ball so that your enemy wont be able to catch it, hence the name "Curveball". You will receive bonus points if you manage to curve the ball a lot, or hitting the very center of your paddle. The paddle is now also controlled by your mouse, instead of the usual keyboard arrows.

I just remembered an old flash which was really popular some time ago. I don't really think it has a name, except for "Falling Boneless Girl" perhaps. I think that one of the reasons behind the flash being so popular is that it's so simple. There is no goal really. All you have is this halfnaked girl who keeps on falling downwards, hitting large bubbles on her way. The bubbles are automatically generated, so there really is no bottom for the girl to reach. You can use your mouse to drag the girl in various limbs in case you want to throw her high up in the air, or just smash her really hard into bubble. It involves some neat physics which mysteriously forces you to keep on playing with the girl, throwing her different ways, pushing her between two bubbles, or just try to keep her falling for as long as possible without stopping.

Magnetism is a game with a simple concept; get the ball into the cup. The hard part is to actually make the ball go into the cup, because it's not as easy as it sounds. First, you'll have to choose between two game modes. In Game A, you are to drop the ball with your mouse the right way, so that it'll bounce into the cup. Here you need to think a bit more and try to figure out the best way to drop the ball. In Game B, you use the arrow keys to steer the ball into the cup, which requires more skill. My only wish is that the music should be able to be turned off, it gets quite annoying after a while.

A "favelet" is a small jscript applications which are very easy to use. All you need to do is drag the selected favelet to your favorites toolbar and drop it there, which will create a kind of "bookmark" containing this javascript. These favelets can be used for validating HTML, CSS, translating pages with babelfish, view certain scripts etc. Favelets have become more and more popular lately since you can use them for so many different purposes, and there are a lot more than these ones out there.

One of many children's favorite toy is now available online! Although it's not exactly like the original, you can still create some very cool animations with this kaleidoscope. Just click on a square in the menu to the left to choose what shape you want, and then move your cursor across the window to manipulate the shape in different ways. Dragging your cursor to the upper left corner will make the shape smaller, dragging it to the upper right corner will make it wider, dragging it to the lower left corner will make it longer, and dragging it to the lower right corner will make it bigger.

Hapland is a puzzle/maze game where the objective is to light both of the torches which opens up the big portal. You do this by clicking on things, like arrows and grenade launchers, and you have to do it in the right order too. Often there are small inscriptions on the walls which will give you a clue about what should be done. Sometimes there's more than one way to solve a problem. When you've finished Hapland, you can move on to Hapland 2 and Hapland 3.

This flash game is very similar to The Quest For The Rest. In this game, you're peacefully floating around in your spaceship, when you suddenly notice that another space ship is on collision course with your ship! In order to prevent a crash, you must travel to the other spaceship and try to stop it in some fashion. By clicking on every little thing that you can find, and at the right time, you will help your character to clear the level and make it even further to stopping the ship. This is another one of those physics games which you really get addicted to after only a few minutes of playing. You play as a ball, using the arrow keys to move around, and the space key to jump. You need to be in contact with something in order to be able to jump, so sometimes it's best to just hold in space. You cannot jump on lines and balls that are red, you will lose a life instantly, sometimes you even need to use "vehicles" in order to pass over the lines. The object is to try to get to the goal by using some very tricky jumping, and a lot of timing. After you've played it for a while, you can download the editor and make a few levels yourself.

The Quest For The Rest is a puzzle/labyrinth type of game. The quest is to bring the three lost members back to their home, by clicking on various objects in the nature in order to clear the way. Unfortunately, this game is rather short, it only has three levels at the moment, and they aren't very hard. But it has nice graphics, and it requires a little more thinking than just a normal game.

Well, there isn't much to say about this one, but I think it's pretty cool, so I decided to post it anyways. This is just a clock created in Flash, but instead of having normal digital numbers, every number is a short video of the number being drawn on a real paper. It's quite an imaginative way of creating a clock; combining the use of pen and paper with a computer.

The Idle RPG isn't exactly like a normal game. You don't need to download a client to play it, and you don't play it on a website either. The Idle RPG is played using an IRC client, like mIRC. IRC is usually used for chatting, but in this channel a special bot has been placed which "plays" the game. In order to play Idle RPG, you need to download and install an IRC client, and then connect to one of the game servers, here's a list of them. Then you need to join the game channel, which is #g7. But in order to join the channel, you need to register a user first. To register, simply type:

/msg nickserv register password email

Every time you want to join the channel you need to use /msg nickserv identify password, in order to authenticate yourself. The next step is to join the channel #g7:

/join #g7

Now, the last step is to create a new character. To create a character, type:

/msg bot REGISTER character_name password character_class

Now your character is created, and you can use /msg bot login character_name password, every time you want to login in.

So what is Idle RPG? It's a game where you try to do as little as possible. If you leave the channel, you're punished, if you say something, you're punished, if you change your nick, you're punished. The punishment is that more time is added until you reach your next level. This game is very similar to Progress Quest, except that you're not punished in PQ. Idle RPG is also far more advanced than PQ. So if you're a fan of weird games, you need to try Idle RPG.

So you thought that the "Pi to one million decimal places" site had a long domain name? You should check this site out. It claims to have the longest domain name in the world. But guess what, it actually doesn't! This site has 63 characters in it's domain name, counting from "thelongest..." to "...andmore". But the "Pi to one million decimal places" site actually has 65 characters, counting from "3.141..." to "...4592", with the "." included that is. But even without the ".", it's still 64 characters!

But then of course, you could add the "www." to the "pi" site aswell, but this doesn't bring you to the actual "pi" site, it brings you to the domain to which the "pi" site is a subdomain to.

So after all, I'm not sure about which one of these sites gains my vote for longest domain name, but both of them are still pretty cool anyways.

Planarity Puzzle Game

In this game the task is yet again pretty simple to understand, but much more difficult to perform. The task is to try to organize the dots in such a way that none of the lines crosses another line. You simply drag the blue dots and try to place them in the right places. All levels usually have more than one solution. There is no time limit, but you score more points the faster you do it. And if you're completely stuck on a level, you can simply press the "Shuffle Vertices"-button and a new net will be generated for you.

20Q is a fun game you might have heard of before. It stands for "20 Questions" and the purpose of this game is that the computer will try guess what you're thinking about, using 20 questions or less. The computer will ask you a question, and you can answer either "Doubtful", "Unknown", "No", "Yes", "Sometimes" or "Probably". If the computer gets the right answer within 20 Questions he "wins" and if it's within more than 20 questions, you "win", but you'll only ruin the game if you lie to the computer, so you could say that the objective is to find a thing that is very difficult to describe.
