Earth Album - Earth Album is a simpler, slicker Flickr mash-up that allows you to explore some of the most stunning photos in the world courtesy of Google maps and Flickr. Just click on the map and you’ll be shown photos taken in that area. You can zoom in all the way to your street and see what photos were taken.

Boss Bitching - The best and easiest site to bitch about your boss and your experiences with them.

ZipeCode - Start entering a 5-digit zip code and the map highlights the area it represents — one digit at a time.

Calcoolate - The best online calculator (as they call it).

Alphabetic Phone number - Enter your phone number and if possible, a word or phrase will be generated that represents your number. I.e. (975)-the-best

Today we’ve got this weekend’s 5 Mini Internet Tools. Each weekend we will feature 5 smaller internet tools that can help you accomplish various things as well as some fun and neat little tools.

Swaptree is a neat site that allows you to trade items you have for items that you want.

You simply add items to your “I have” list, and then find items that you want. You then are matched with people who have what you want and want what you have. And then you make the “swap”! Simple, fun, and useful!

http://www.swaptree.com/

Zamzar is a free, simple file conversion site. You can upload a file up to 50MB in size and have it converted to just about any file type. The file is then e-mailed to you.

The basic service is free but you can sign up for Basic, Pro, or Business plan for increased size limits and a File Manager.

http://www.zamzar.com

CalendarHub is a very useful and functional calendar application. It is completely free and has many enhancements to allow you to manage appointments and events on multiple calendars. It also includes a to-do list and easily integrates collaboration with other CalendarHub Users’ calendars.

I could write a full review of CalendarHub, but I don’t use the service. It may be reviewed in the future, though.

http://www.calendarhub.com/

Toodledo is a simple but useful to-do list management tool. You can create folders, assign due-dates for tasks, add tags, goals, notes, and more.

Toodledo is completely free and very functional. However they offer additional features in their Pro and Pro-Plus packages which require a yearly fee.

http://www.toodledo.com/

The Kuku Klok is an easy-to-use online alarm clock. If your computer is in your bedroom, you can use it to wake you up in the mornings. It even works if the internet goes down after setting it.

But if your computer isn’t in the bedroom, you can find other uses for it, such as to remind you when your TV show is starting or when you have to pickup your child from school.

Kuku Klok can come in handy quite often!

http://kukuklok.com/

We hope you enjoyed this week’s 5 Small Internet Tools.

With OfficeZilla your organization can share calendars, files, forums and more in a secure and private web place with no limits, ads, or fees. Anyone can use OfficeZilla!

OfficeZilla is one of my recent findings, and it is by far one of the best Internet Tools I have found. I have been looking for something like this for quite a while and now I finally have it

OfficeZilla is a group or organization collaboration and management solution. It combines countless features and modules into one place for members of a community or business to stay in touch and manage all aspects of operating their business.

It contains various ways to manage data, some include: Contact and Member Directory; Meeting Chatrooms with saved transcripts; Knowledge Base; Discussion Forums; Calendar; To-Do Lists; Project and Task management and user assignments; and many more.

I use OfficeZilla as my virtual office for a forum I run. We use it to coordinate forum events (I.E. contests and local meet-ups/get-togethers) and to manage projects such as Gift Exchanges. It is easy to delegate tasks to different users in the Office.

I find it to be a FANTASTIC addition to my site and it has eased the frustration of coordinating many different things with many different people.

One of my favorite features are the groups. You can place different users in different groups and then only display certain information to select usergroups to keep data and information from being exploited to the wrong people.

In general, all of the features are what make OfficeZilla so great. To add to those that have already been mentioned are the Knowledge Base and the content manager. You can use them to post articles, rules, procedures, and other documents that are uniform in your business or company.

There is only one small aspect that could be built upon: Design. It seems as though OfficeZilla is not up-to-date and at the top of the line with other online platforms and sites. Graphics seem a bit outdated. It’s not what most of us are used to.

Links

Frequently Asked Questions at OfficeZilla

OfficeZilla Homepage and Feature Tour

Sign Up for OfficeZilla

The Rundown

OfficeZilla is great for Organizations, Companies, Businesses, or even small personal groups for members to collaborate and share Projects, Ideas, Contacts, Files, and more as well as Chat and participate in Discussion Forums. OfficeZilla offers many features and modules. What makes OfficeZilla is that it is 100% free and unlimited, with no ads or spam e-mails. There is nothing undesirable in the process of using OfficeZilla.

The only thing that could be improved are the Graphics and interface design. It is not what most of us are used to in this new age of the internet. But it’s not all about graphics…

For OfficeZilla’s terrific functionality and power we rate it a 5/5.

“Oh, Don’t forget” is probably one of the simplest tools out there. But it is very useful.

You can send text messages to any phone number, with no spam and no gimmicks. It’s completely free and no signup is required.

You can schedule text messages to be sent at later dates with specific times. This is useful to plan “Happy Birthday” text messages for the future, or to plan tomorrow’s schedule and be reminded hourly of your upcoming appointments and events.

Or you can just send a text message instantly.

Of all the times I have used this tool, it has never failed me; all messages were sent on time and I have never been charged on my Phone Bill for using it.

There isn’t much to say about this tool except that it is simple and highly effective and useful.

The one thing I would change about this tool is to add an option to create an account and be able to manage scheduled text messages to cancel or edit them. Currently, once you schedule a message there’s no going back.

The Rundown

Simple and very useful, Oh Don’t Forget is a powerful tool.

No downsides or cons other than lack of additional settings.

We give it a rating of 4/5, because it can easily expand to offer more configuration settings.

One of the internet tools that I use most is the StumbleUpon toolbar. It is how I have come across 90% of the internet tools that I know of.

It is an easy-to-use but very powerful and useful social-bookmarking and website discovery tool.

Being very useful, it allows you to literally “Stumble Upon” tons of websites related to categories and topics you want to see. It’s very fun to use and leads you to great sites - regardless of what you are looking for

The Toolbar:

You first have to choose categories and topics you are interested in and that you would like to browse. You do this in your profile.

Once you have done that, you simply choose what category you want to browse from the toolbar and then Stumble away!

As you are Stumbling, you can rate pages with a simple “Thumbs Up” or “Thumbs Down” (see above Toolbar Image).

Every page that you give a Thumbs Up is saved in your SU (StumbleUpon) community profile and you can view them later. Other community members can see them as well to get to know you better.

This leads me to add that SU has a strong community “side” to it. You can search or browse members and filter results down to specifics such as Gender, Sexuality, Location, Interests, etc. You can easily make friends on SU.

I love how quick and easy StumbleUpon is to use. It’s easy to save pages for later, and makes for quick page stumbling/browsing.

I can’t conjure up any things I would change to SU. It covers everything I’m looking for in a Social Bookmarking/Website Exploration site.

However, I do think it would be neat if SU would automatically save all “Thumbs Up” sites to a select folder in my Bookmarks.

Links

StumbleUpon has an Online Demo for you to try before you download.
It is available for both Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. Click to Download

The Run-down

StumbleUpon is a great tool if you are looking to explore websites, or meet friends with similar interests. It also is a great Social Bookmarking site.

It’s top features include it’s Community-feeling integration as well as it’s ease of use and enhanced interface.

Welcome to the Internet Tools Blog

I am an avid fan of the internet, and I use it for many things in life such as managing tasks, goals, projects, and for other things such as meetings and planning events.

You can never get enough out of the internet, and it is full of helpful and very useful tools. The only downside is that you can never be aware of all the great tools that are out there.

I have created this blog to share my collection of useful tools from around the internet.

I will be posting many different tools, ranging from different categories and uses.

My collection is always expanding and I look forward to sharing them with you.

With each tool I share, I will include commentary sharing my own experiences with that tool, some reviews, and a quick run-down of the ease of use and overall effectiveness of the tool.
