Quick Time Management Tips For Internet Marketers

The lure of internet marketing lies in the potential to make lots of money from multiple income streams without having to spend more time at the office or working for a boss. It is the stuff of which dreams of financial freedom are made. Many people new to internet marketing find that striking a balance between business and the lifestyle they crave is difficult to achieve. As an internet marketer, you need to practice good time management to get things done.

Review projects often
Start by listing down everything you need to do for each project. Identify which projects work and which do not. Keep the ones that are doing well while discard those that are just a waste of your time and resources. Consider partnering with someone qualified to do a new project that you’ve been considering instead of starting from scratch to save time.

Systemize
Every internet marketer should have a project management system like BasecampHQ which organizes projects, team members, tasks and schedules efficiently. Basecamp is a relatively inexpensive web-based system that can even be accessed via your iPhone, making it easy to stay on top of your projects and team wherever you go. It acts as a virtual office where members of your team can check off to-do lists, write messages or upload files on the system.

Mail filters
A lot of the messages that go into your email in-box may be things that you don’t need to read and which keep you from seeing the ones that require your immediate attention. Identify which emails you can read later (if ever!), like those from Facebook or newsletter subscriptions, and use filter preferences to direct these to individual labels assigned to them. Gmail and Yahoo Mail both have labels and filters under mail options. Another simple way to increase your productivity is by limiting the amount of time you spend on social networking sites, unless you’re conducting a specific marketing campaign around it.

Outsource
You might be spreading yourself too thinly by doing everything yourself. Delegate some of the tasks which you may not be good at like internal accounting and book keeping, content writing and web development. Outsourcing ensures that tasks are done well, minus the headaches of doing them on your own. While I still do my own simple web pages and sales copy, I outsource a great percentage of my articles and website projects to give me time to focus on other matters. I also recommend you outsource your home duties too such as lawn mowing….

Manage this well and profit
Having control over your time may be one of the perks of being an internet marketer but if you’re not careful with how you allocate it, you may be missing out on a lot of opportunities to increase profits and to enjoy life.

Marketing income soared, especially after implementing strategies such as upsells, downsells and memberships. Among these tools is the Nanacast system which I’m loving more every time I use it.

Benefits of using Nanacast
Easy upsells and downsells
One of your internet marketing tools should be able to help you implement upsell and downsell strategies, which I’ve proven to boost sales by as much as 50%. Nanacast is a very user-friendly system, with wizards that walk you through various options step by step, so that you can create upsell and downsell products in minutes.

Hosted sales pages
Nanacast is a web-hosted system which allows you to launch sales pages without getting your own hosting service. And because the program is not installed in your computer but stored in Nanacast’s own servers, updating the system and resolving program errors, if any, are easily implemented by its technical team. It pains me to see so many people fail when they try and get online. Go to any public forum and you will see the desperation and bitterness from those who have invested time and energy into this amazing business only to see it fade away. They once had the motivation and the mindset in place yet they came up empty to the point where they are worn out and often resent anyone who has achieved success.

Most people are making the same mistake
A huge number for products focus on mindset, tactics and onetime strategies that become obsolete fast (if they EVER worked!). It is tempting for people to jump in and get busy ‘taking action’ only to fail. This is assuming that they get over the massive overload most marketers are faced with in the first place.

Taking Action will NOT make you successful unless…

Essential Accounts for Internet Marketers

New to Internet Marketing?
I get a lot of new people asking me what they need to get started as an internet marketer. I have compiled a list here of the accounts and other important programs I use often in my business and if you have these things you will be well on the way towards being an effective ‘IM’er’. In a previous post I covered some of the equipment you need to get started for internet marketing.

Google has some good stuff
Google provide some of the best tools Internet Marketing experts rely on. Start with a GMAIL account. To discover why this is so powerful check out my how to use Gmail lesson. Next you should grab a Google Analytics account for tracking website traffic. The Webmaster tools account will help you with SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and Google AdWords will be good for paid traffic (PPC).

Send and receive money safely online
Grab a PayPal account. It is owned by eBay and is very secure. This will be the fastest easiest way to buy the things you need and to receive money for your first information products. You can receive one time payments and recurring products with PayPal.

Professional grade email auto-responder
To build your client list you will want to use a professional grade email service including an auto-responder / broadcast service like Aweber. Auto-responders are automated email delivery systems and this is how you van setup systems that work 24/7. Aweber work very hard to negotiate high delivery rates with ISP companies so that your emails get through. The easy to use wizards will help you configure the essential elements of your account including setting up a decent followup series. Externally hosted they are web based so you can log in from anywhere and manage your client base. They have very good tools for creating sign up forms and templates for email broadcasts.

The most powerful yes easy to use shopping cart and automation system
To integrate PayPal and your Auto responder (email broadcasting service) and include affiliate management you should get Nanacast. This system will process sales, giving you the option of up-sells, down-sells and more. You can set up different payment structures and integrate it with your list building software of choice. It replaces the need for many other items and will scale with you since it is externally hosted and requires no script installation or on-site maintaining.

Domain Names
To control your brand and have ownership of your sites you need to have your own domain name. DO NOT build your entire empire on Facebook or any other external site because they can go away anytime and you risk losing everything. Make your site the central hub for your business. Too many people have lost a business because they made poor choices relating to ownership and control. Buy all of your domains from Namecheap. They are very easy to use, highly competitive for price and all round awesome people. If you have a few entities consider making an account for a few different entities so that you spread your risk a little.

Reliable Internet Marketing Web Hosting
I have many servers with Hostgator. The best type of account for new – intermediate internet marketers is a reseller account. This will allow you to have a C Panel (Individual Control Panel) for each domain you host. They have the ability to install Wordpress blogs easily. This means you can sell hosting to others and give them access to JUST their account and no others. These accounts will handle many domains and are really well priced. If you plan on having a very big site like a busy membership or an authority blog with lots of traffic you may want to consider a Dedicated server. I run several just so that I have no other marketers on my IP address. This means I will not get any penalties from the search engine for the silly actions of others. (Rare but possible with shared servers). Hostgator also run a sister company called SEO Hosting if you need multiple IP addresses. I have several accounts with them also.

Communicate with Skype
I use Skype everyday as an effective communication tool. It works over the internet connection so you can Skype to Skype internationally and locally for free. You can set up normal phone numbers and voice mail services like a regular phone plus make regular phone calls using Skype credit. The call costs are very low and it is easier to be on calls hands free using the computer monitor speakers or a headset. There are several call recording applications you can use to record Skype calls making it the ideal way to conduct interviews.

Snag those screen shots
I love a tool called SnagIt by Techsmith. It works really well for Windows and now they have a beta SnagIt for Mac. Using this tool you can take screen shots and dress them up with notes, squiggles, cropping, re-sizing and more. It is the perfect way to make simple banners and compile information products with visual instructions.

Manage everything
I LOVE basecamphq for managing my projects, outsource team, partnerships, virtual assistant and special clients online. It allows file uploads, whiteboard brainstorming, todo lists and milestones. You can exchange messages in there and segregate projects between different users. You can add ‘Campfire’ to that for live chat. You can use an iPhone application (called sherpa) that allows you to view all the projects on the go.

Firefox Browser
Serious IM’ers use Firefox because of the add-ons. You can use toolbar bookmarks to arrange everything you use often,. There are a bunch of awesome add-ons firefox works with to automate, systematize and speed up your effectiveness. I have posted about firefox bookmarks before. I use S3fox, SEOquake, Onlywire and Wordtracker add-ons.

Social Accounts
When you first get online as a professional internet marketer you should immediately get the social accounts with your own name. You need the following accounts:
- Twitter
- Facebook
- LinkedIn
- YouTube
- FriendFeed

Round 2
These are not all the accounts you will need however they are a great start. You will then want to expand to a second round of important accounts with: Squidoo, Tumblr, Ezinearticles, StumbleUpon, Technorati and more….

Keyword research and niche market finding tool
Grab a FREE trial copy of Market Samurai when you can since it is a one stop tool for finding keywords and easy key phrases to target. This tool is great for paid traffic and also SEO (Search Engine Optimization). It works on Mac and PC. I wrote more about Market Samurai here.

Capture sound and pictures
I use Camtasia Studio for screen capture and editing. For audio you can use Audacity. When you have these you are able to create content and this is a major step in making serious money online an an Internet marketer. I’ll cover content creation in future lessons.

The Hidden Benefits of the ‘Buy With Bonus’ Internet Marketing Strategy

How I started
The most effective strategy I stumbled upon in my early affiliate marketing career was the ‘buy with bonus’ technique. It is has also been called ‘the leech method’ by Chris in Affiliate Project X however I was doing this long before he published that awesome ebook. The technique involves finding a product that is selling (or in the case of a product launch about to be sold) and creating a really attractive bonus to complement that product to ethically entice people to buy through you. I want to teach it to you since it helps both buyers and sellers.

Why you should S.C.A.M.P.E.R
I had bought some resell rights for a Patrick Chan product he did with Stephen Pierce. It was called ‘Win in the niche’. I have long since taken that site down however in that interview Stephen was talking about the concept of S.C.A.M.P.E.R. This technique is highly valuable for brainstorming what sort of bonus to develop as a giveaway. I later found out it was invented by Bob Eberle and stands for:

S – Substitute – components, materials, people
C – Combine – mix, combine with other assemblies or services, integrate
A – Adapt – alter, change function, use part of another element
M – Modify – increase or reduce in scale, change shape, modify attributes (e.g. color)
P – Put to another use
E – Eliminate – remove elements, simplify, reduce to core functionality
R – Reverse – turn inside out or upside down

Using this creative process you can combine the affiliate concept of complementing a already successful product to leverage the market that is ALREADY THERE. It is easier to ride waves than create them. You are grabbing the energy in the market and doing some judo on it!

The MASSIVE benefit
When you setup your claim process properly you get to keep the name and email address of the person who JUST bought a product! Plus, you know what they just bought so it is a ‘no brainer’ what else they might want! (If you are not sure just ask them what else they already bought). You can then construct more offers.

More than $100K with less than 1000 buyers
Now you have just built a list of genuine BUYERS not freebie seekers. You can likely earn in excess of $100k a year in affiliate commissions from less than 1000 buyers in just one niche. Each person on your list earns you commission up front PLUS back end sales from your auto responder sequence of related affiliate offers… It is easy business and you are adding value for them since they are getting more through you than dealing direct. It is helping buyers. Vendors love it too because you are increasing the sales conversions.

Double BONUS
The other amazing thing that happens is now people who already have the product you are selling will want to buy your bonus from you directly. This is what happened to me several times. The first time I took my ‘bonus’ to market I had a $1000 a day business selling my BONUS directly as a stand alone product. The rule I stick with now is that my bonuses must be good enough to sell as a stand alone product.

This time we talk about offline business consulting and who is qualified to do this model. Both of us have been pursuing this lucrative internet marketing business model for several years.

Early start
Kyle got into marketing at an early age. He came through the traditional Dan Kennedy style of direct response marketing. This is the same sort of material I would recommend all serious marketers get access to. I own every one of Dan Kennedy’s NO B.S books.

Do offline business internet marketers need to be technical?
We discuss technical versus marketing skills. Putting together a business is going to involve some basic technical learning. If you can learn these things even a little you can put your self into a position where you can outsource later anyway. When you outsource the technical stuff you can know what to expect from outsourcing and you can fix things on the spot if you have to. Being able to talk about these things confidently will give you a boost when it comes to talking to offline clients. Professional web clients (corporates) will happily pay you to make small changes. You can outsource this and charge the client. We discussed the ‘done for you’ with a maintenance service model. Kyle says clients want this and I agree.

One time fee or recurring income?
Both Kyle and I were selling one time payment jobs when we started and now we both offer maintenance packages. Maintenance programs are something you should educate clients to have and also something that is very good for them. There are different things you can sell at various price points. (Kyle runs a membership site called Consulting Tycoon) Typical services clients of Kyle will learn are how to sell packages of websites, traffic, SEO (Search Engine Optimization, newsletters, article writing, PPC (Pay Per Click) , followup marketing with auto-responders. You can work within your strengths and clients will happily pay you to learn on the job. Once you learn a skill for a client you can use it for other clients and your own business.

Just do it for yourself or do it for others?
Kyle and I discussed the dream goal of sitting at the beach making money. (Ironic given that I am typing this from the beach house!). We agreed that providing a service for others is a great way to start cash flow and get great experience. We both still serve clients through services and personal content because we can hone our skills. Kyle gets a lot of enjoyment from helping business owners. The average business owner has a very low level of knowledge about Internet Marketing. Even with a small exposure to internet marketing and solid offline consulting strategies you will be able to impress.

Success stories
Some of Kyles students have started out with a good mindset and created a very good business within a short period of time. One of my own Business Internet Formula students (Jock Purtle) pursuing this model generated a six figure contract within a few weeks! We both have seen people do this fast when they apply the methods we teach. I have some templates in my SuperFastResults forum and Kyle has massive content in his membership.

Warning: Not so ethical Internet Marketers
Kyle and I have seen a lot of trashy products coming out in this niche (the ‘offline gold local business’ niche). Many of these were put together by students in dorm rooms with nothing but a taste for opportunity. For example any product that puts a heavy bias on cold calling is missing the point. Many traditional internet marketing experts have cobbled together products (often with a no-name business partner) to serve this hot niche. What you should be looking for is a solid business plan that involves creating a ‘pull marketing’ system (where the client will come to you). You should look for better ways to have clients come to you and they should also be keen to buy from you.

The real deal
Kyle invested over $50,000 in educating himself and formulated direct mail templates that he has included in the membership site that he runs. He has been selling these services to corporates as I have for years. Real experience in the market is irreplaceable when you are looking for someone to model from.

Hot Tips
When asked for advice Kyle suggested people take action and just get started. Start telling people that you are in the business and get going with it. Dan Thies Explodes Internet Marketing SEO Myths In This Search Engine Optimization Interview

Dan Thies can be counted on for a controversial SEO perspective and he is qualified too. He is one half of the SEO Brain Trust, a new project for dedicated Search Engine Optimization enthusiasts and students. The other half is Leslie Rohde.

Internet Marketing all-rounder
Dan Thies is a very capable SEO (Search Engine Optimizer) and PPC (Pay Per Click) marketer. He has a very good business mind honed from being in the market for such a long time. If you can get good at both SEO and PPC then you have a great combination for making money online. I respect him very much and he is the man I ran my latest SEO product past before publishing because he knows a lot about this topic. He has a real business mind. We got to catch up and share some fresh information in this interview.

Keyword Strategy
When looking for the right words to use on the site you should use both the obvious ones AND the ones you dig up later through research. You will find they break into general relevance and specific relevance. (Ignore wishful thinking keywords!). Every page is a marketing channel. Traffic to the site will typically be coming to the site through multiple pages so you want to cater to as many relevant key phrases as possible.

Google Changes
Now with the way Google displays results there is a premium on the top few listings in Google. The top few spots are super sought after. The top three listings carry the greatest click through rates. Google are now trialling triple listings in the search results pages (SERPS). This is especially important since explorer browser uses tabbed browsing and this takes up more space.

CTR (Click Through Rate) Statistics
Statistically (over 800 domains) Dan has gathered private data that shows the click through rates of the top three listings. 50% of the clicks go to the top three results. 60% of those clicks go to the top position. In other words, Dan recommends trying to get number one listings for less competitive terms than lower page one rankings for difficult terms. Google are also inserting shopping listings and video listings in the middle of page one on a frequent basis.

SEO is a resources game
Try to do the on-site stuff at once but work on the link building as quickly as you can to get the site making money. Put the profits back into the site and build the amount of links for every possible relevant phrase. Keep using the resources you have to get top rankings for as many phrases as you can.

ACT
ACT stands for Analytics and Conversion Testing. Working on persuasion elements (paying off on the promise) is a deep science that gets huge yields. This is an area Dan is passionate about and deeply specialized. When doing SEO consider that conversions are a HUGE part of the equation because that is the ultimate purpose for a site.Profit comes from traffic multiplied by conversions.

Strategy and tactics
You need to do a lot to stay ranked because the competitors with the deeper pockets will out spend you in maintaining a top SEO listing. The competition moves down to lower and lower competition keywords. You will need to get savvy with SEO because the game is getting beyond article spinning and made for adsense sites. As time goes on more webmasters will be getting smarter.

Short v long
Sometimes the choice keywords are the short ones however not always. Often the longer tail phrases are more profitable. Revenue per click for pay per click ads show that the highest ranked keywords get more clicks and make more money per click. This means you should be aiming high for PPC and SEO using the RIGHT keyphrases.

Using PPC?
Use exact match because broad match sucks. Recently the live quality score has meant that a lot of exact match phrase match ads no longer display. Dan will be releasing a PPC course to cater for these changes. These are being rolled out in brainstrust. PPC and SEO go very well together. Use SEO to locate the traffic for PPC campaigns. You can buy more profits this way. (I run the Google search query report to tell me what key phrases are bringing me the traffic). Having great SEO with great rankings you can expect to have an excellent quality score. I have long advocated the use of both paid and SEO traffic techniques to get a larger part of the pie.

Amateurs days are numbered
We discussed the state of the market where there are some low quality operators out there jamming out spun content and fully automated blogs. Dan predicts they will get wiped out if they do not pay attention. The only way to play that game is volume related. Sites will get filtered as Google gets smarter and dials up the sensitivity. Dan prefers working on real sites with real content. The hybrid method Dan suggests revolves around having both the money sites and the content sites.

Daily original content
Have an assistant screen topic related RSS feeds and within 30 minutes create 10 pages of content. It is a useful human driven content aggregation system. We discuss the feedwordpress and wp-o-matic plugins for Wordpress. Putting fresh content on each site allows you to have a bigger site than your competitors by using the inbound links that are on each page pointing back to the page you need. The next step is to do this outside your site by building feeder sites that are building links to your but this is even more effective if you build links to your linkwheel sites. The more links you have and the more pages you have the more rank you can expect.

Useful Tools for Internet Marketing
Excel spreadsheets and RSS reader tools are handy for workflow management. Dan uses Delicious bookmarking for his outsource team. He bookmarks anything he wants his team to create links for and they automatically start linking. Using automation for Facebook, Twitter or some similar device is a very smart idea. Always offer readers a Twitter or Facebook sharing button option. (HINT – this blog post has one!)…. We are programmed to help share awesome content when we find it. Do whatever you can to get do to get a large fan base. Facebook fan pages are a good idea (and possibly better than an opt-in list according to Dan).

Great content is easy
Every page that carries good content can give to more links to your sites, enter your market as the bookmarking site for that industry and bookmark your own stuff too. If you can get user generated content you are ahead of the game.

Is PageRank still important?
What matters far more is whether Google is indexing your page and is the cache date up to date. Dan says pagerank is nothing to be obsessing about, he does not even look at it. Google originally intended the PR device as a value ad for the toolbar. It probably helped them to get a lot of tool bars into the browser of the civilian market. Professional SEO’s need not worry about the PR toolbar.

Getting links
If you need links just go to a forum and post. The closer the forum is to topic related matter the better the link. Answering posts in forums gets you links to your site. You can use the search function and find topics that are on theme. You don’t need monthly high PR backlink reports.

Matt Wadsworth is not (yet) a big player teaching IM however he runs a great niche online business. I met Matt in Dubai where we were both speaking to a new emerging market of Internet marketing students.

Strategy
Matts success in the niche markets depends on a specific strategy. He went looking into this business because he wanted more money than he earns as a classical musician. Going from a specialist to an internet marketing expert forced some great habits that others can learn from.

Knowing why you want to be an internet marketer is more important than doing the processes themselves. A specific focus around mindset is essential before you get too far into the ‘tactics’.

Doing the right things
5% of what you do will get 95% of the results. The internet is a business and knowing what your objectives are from the outset will help you be more effective, Matt suggests stepping away from the computer first to plan a little. You will also need persistence and perseverance to get success. Don’t expect things to happen automatically from the start. Once your business grows you can then automate and leverage.

Desperate mindset
I asked Matt about his attitude towards money. We both found that by NOT focusing on just money we can get more of it. We both focus on delivering value to as many people as possible. Taking responsibility for your own financial well being rather than expecting others to provide you a magic carpet ride is the surest way to get ahead fast. Being able to generate your own income is a very empowering thing.

Tear up your ‘excuse list’
When it comes to reasons why people cannot succeed Matt has got some perspective. Matt has been blind since birth. In this interview Matt explains how he makes money online without sight. One very important point Matt makes is how much better you can focus when you have less distractions. Knowing where to put attention is key in Internet Marketing. I say write down every excuse you have for not making money online and the ‘tear up your excuse list’. One of my many mentors Bruce Dyer taught me this years ago when I was a young sales person.

How does a blind marketer do internet marketing?
This is the easy bit according to Matt. A software program called ‘JAWS’ speaks out all the text on Matts screen. He is very adept at keyboard shortcuts too! The internet has made it easier for people who are in a similar situation to him. Accessibility on the web is improving for all of us it seems.

More with less
Matt can do all of this without some of the software items we can use. We do not need to have the latest brightest objects all the time. The other thing that Matt has developed to a great level is outsourcing. He has a team of people who have become his ‘eyes’. I notice Matt asks others for their opinions on the way things ‘look’ so that he can triangulate an opinion on the object of his focus.

Decision time
We discussed decision making ability. What we have now is the result of decisions we have made in the past. Looking back to assess decisions is a good technique for refining your future decisions. Match your business to your skill set and make decisions based upon that. What has gone well for you in the past? How can you bring more of that into you future. Find what you are good at and do more of it. Teach it and transfer it to others.

Simple truth
Generally when things are simple – not everyone is not doing it so it can cause you huge success. Matt gives the example of the website. Many people make it the big focus but the website is the last step. First you need to plan out the program. An important step is to identify a team to get around you, Find someone who is doing really well at what you need help with. Then you want to focus on traffic and conversions. The traffic must go to an offer and the conversions is turning the traffic into a customer. Matt like Joint Venture traffic. This is where you get others to promote and you pay them commission. You get paid to build a list.

Build the system
There are plenty of broke web designers around so focus more on the building of the system rather than the website. Matt likes creating his own product instead of selling other peoples products. Solving a problem is the key to selling more stuff since people pay for solutions. Do the things you are good at and get others to do the things you are not good at.

Buy with bonus strategy
When selling an affiliate offer create a bonus to give away. Find something that is already selling and create a complementary product. Offer it for free and you now build a list of clients from the market that you can now up-sell to. Buyers will jump at the chance to get a free bonus. The other product owners in the market will all approach you to sell their products and offer you special privileges.

Research tip
Looking around to see what is already selling is a great way to determine which products to create. Matt likes looking at the sales pages in the market and getting a feel for the bullet points. Check the magazine racks in the local store and if there is a magazine then you are in with a great chance.

We discuss Fear…
In public forums asking basic questions can often get you ‘flamed’. Success is all about failing fast, Falling down a few times is fine because it is likely to happen when you are starting anything new. Matt discusses why failing is a cultural thing we often fear. We discussed why a lot of out childhood programming and the school system is not really ideal for being an entrepreneur. We should question everything and be prepared to taking risks. Compared to buying a franchise we have very low risk online.

Free can be damaging
Some marketers ‘try’ internet marketing for free. It can be very hard to make money online using free things. Once you get serious and have a few paid options your business can scale much faster. Examples, a professional auto responder will outperform a free server based email auto responder system. Paid hosting is FAR better than free hosting where they display free ads on your prime real estate.

Invest in experience
Failures are just an investment in experience. Buying training, coaching or mentoring can be an excellent decision when you feel you will be better off and you will get a return on your investment. When you buy resources you are better to consume them as quickly as possible. You will get better value if you can dive into some work in transit time or traveling. Reduce notes down to bullet points and implement as soon as you can. Key action items in order will help you get the high value from the timing of new information. Set your self a time limit of a few days.

Lifestyle
Matt agrees. If we can do it other people can do it. There are people out there doing very well so we should find it easy to be motivated by the fact that it can be done. Things can happen fast when you focus on the reasons why and the strong belief that it is doable. I recommend you focus on your business each month. A small fraction of the tasks you do will be making you the most money. A number of things you do will NOT be making you money. They need to go on your ‘to don’t’ list.

Outsourced leverage
Effort into things that you are good at does not automatically mean you will get rich. Never get too good at the little jobs. Don’t muck around with the little tasks too long if you feel you need to know how everything works. Once you know how to do the task it is time to outsource it. Leverage yourself by automating and systematizing as soon as possible. Realize what the value of the task is and score yourself accordingly.

Matt gets famous
Expect to see Matt Wadsworth speaking at a very high profile yet ‘underground’ event in Washington D.C. Matt will be building his list in the Internet Marketing space now and he feels it is time since he has been proving himself in other niches first. Final tips
Ask better questions. This will get you better results. Yanik Silver reminds me of this each time I have a brainstorm with him on a maverick tour. Matt adds to this. Ask better questions to better people. Find the best people and ask them. Find the best you can and get the highest level success answer! This is the fastest way to succeed.

Software
We both agree software is the great thing to sell if you have it. It is more complicated to get up and running but has a longer shelf life.

Is the iPhone the greatest tool EVER for Internet Marketers?

The truth is, I can’t live without my iPhone!
Pretty strong statement however it has had such a profound impact on my effectiveness. At first I was scared of being ‘owned’ by the iPhone however the truth was the opposite. The iPhone has provided freedom. Let’s take a look at the main reasons why the iPhone is such a game changer for serious Internet Marketers.

Traveling?
Look up the weather when packing so that you get it right! Use the iPhone on roaming when you arrive and you can make phone calls as soon as you land. Operate your Gmail on the fly and it updates online with any other device. When I travel I can alternate between iPhone and Macbookpro without any loss of effectiveness. Use the iPhone in the car, the back of a workshop or at the beach where a laptop is unwelcome. The mac is better for hotel rooms or in the home office. The currency conversion is rather handy when you are trying to figure out what Dirham, Pound or Euro is worth versus the AUD or USD or Peso…. The alarm and timezone features are especially handy when overseas ensuring that you never miss a seminar workshop or limo. (I often laugh at the fact that I only ever set an alarm when I am on ‘holiday’ rather than at home!).

Media on the fly
When you catch an overseas flight these days you plane will have a USB port on the seat in front of you. Just power up the iPhone and you have mp3 and m4v movies to watch. This is a great way to consume audio books and info products. I load up gigabytes worth of sound files and the longer trips to L.A, Dubai or London become so much shorter! The Youtube player lets you tap into the massive video market at anytime when on the ground. This is handy if you need to see what the hot trends are.

Content creation powerhouse
Imagine the power of creating audio, pictures and videos anywhere. And you can load the video and pictures to Facebook, Youtube or Wordpress anytime. I am able to document a travel trip as I experience it and retain a huge social media following by engagement. The Wordpress app allows you to BLOG from the iPhone. Throw in a few apps like facebook and Tweetie and you are in the social spectrum within minutes. Note when I stream audio and videos from my own site I download and convert them from .mov to .mp3 and .flv for more user friendly streaming.

Keep control of stuff
You can track analytics, paypal, email expenses, stockmarket and airline flight times with a few simple apps. There is no excuse to ‘not know’. The calculator on the iPhone is easy to use and very handy for when you are doing metrics and cost per client etc…. The safari browser lets you access just about anything on the web. The countdown timer is uber special for getting in control of Parkinson’s law (jobs expand to fill the time available!).

Never get lost again
Compass and Google maps should see to that. You can find out where you are at anytime and it saves having to ask strangers for directions. You can pinpoint your location and enter a destination for instructions.

Things
WOW! this application is my on board filing cabinet. I put all of my projects into it and it is the basis for all my info products. When I am on mentoring calls, webinars or just walking the beach I throw bullet points into project topics and I am building a weapon of mass profit! Things syncs with Mac over wireless. It receives input from excel, word, plain txt with ease.

Are you making presentations?
Then you need the Keynote app. It lets you glide through your macbook presentations via remote and it even has countdown timer and notes for you. Just swipe the screen left or right and you have the next slide.

TXT
The SMS feature has a very nice interface with colored bubbles. It is especially handy when you are overseas because it is cheaper than phone calls.

Easy Contacts & iCal
Put a picture of your contacts next their details so you can see them when they call you. The calendar syncs with iCal for mac so you can effortlessly have every schedule tuned in.

Tips for overseas
Install a local SIM card to save on call costs. Divert your standard number to the new one or leave a voice message advising the new number whilst on tour. It is easy to rack up a few thousand dollars if you leave the data roaming ON!

Summary
Because the iPhone is so useful i am finding it has reduced my hours on the desk. I can keep an eye on things occasionally when out so I don’t need to think about ‘what am I Missing’. Emergencies can be fixed faster should they occur. I have field tested the iPhone from the Jungles of Belize with just a wireless connection for a week and was able to run my business from it. Naturally this assumes you have some automation and a few good systems in place in your business. I also love how well the iPhone and Mac play together. The iPhone was the reason I bought a mac. I thought if is THIS good then the mac must be awesome. I was right. These will be topics for future lessons.
