Sourav Ganguly : The other side of Cricket

India is a country, where Cricket is religion, and palyers are holy spirits. But politics is even bigger game than Cricket. It helps some players and on the other hand, it destroys too.

Once Steve Wagh said about an Indian Cricketer “You may love him, or you may hate him, but surely you can not neglect him.” Yes, name of that player is Sourav Ganguly. He’s one of the most lovable players in country, but one more thing I don’t wanna say, but I’ve to, he’s the most hated cricketer too. I don’t know why, but it’s true.

If Ganguly doesn’t score in a match, than people always start saying that, he hasn’t much cricket left, while if some other player don’t score, it’s just a game, a player can’t score in every game.

In IPL Kalis scored 1132 runs in 42 matches with an average of 31.44 & strike rate of 112.19, while Ganguly scored 1031 runs in 40 matches with an average of 28.64 and strike rate of 110.50. states are much same, but Kalis is great and Ganguly hasn’t much cricket left.

In the latest season of IPL 2011, the God of Cricket (Sachin) is playing with strike rate of 107.33, but don’t even dare to say anything bad about him, you’ll be criticized as hell.

Fact is that RCB lost some matches because of the slow game of Kalis, but KKR never faced this coz of Ganguly, he was leading KKR single-handedly, but Kalis is great player & as you know Ganguly hasn’t much cricket left.

After his comeback in International Cricket he was playing with an average of more than 60(even better than his career average), but he failed in SL-Test Series. He was not the only player who failed, no one scored in that series, including Sachin, Dravid too. But just after that series, people again started saying that, he hasn’t much cricket left & forced to retire.
He scored fastest 2000, 3000, 5000, 7000, 8000 & 9000 runs in world cricket, but when he was in bad phases of his career, no one was there to support him, he was kicked out for the ODI team. While he was always there in bad phases of Sachin, Dravid & Yuvraaj. Yes don’t be surprised, even Sachin faced some bad phases in his career.
He was kicked out for ODI team by saying that, his running between the wickets is slow and he’s not so good in field. While Sachin admitted in a very personal interview, that he never felt any misunderstanding b/w him & Ganguly in running b/w wickets (Sachin-Ganguly are the most successful opening pair.) and if the fielding is the reason than why Munaf Patel (probably the worst fielder in Cricket) is still playing for India?

some crap people says that he is only good against spinners, he can not face pace attack, perhaps they forget that Ganguly is an opener, and a batsman who can't play against fast bowlers can't open. Opener has to face fast bolwers at least for first 10 overs.

With Sachin, he has the most successful opening pair in ODI, but to save career of Sehwag, he sacrificed his favourite position, and this was the start of falling a cricket career of the best Left-Hander Indian Batsman. He saved Dravid by giving him position at wicketkeeper. When Dhoni was almost set to left for ODI team, he promoted him at no.3, he scored century & kept his place safe. Yuvraaj is in Indian Team, only & only beacause of Ganguly.

Ganguly started to look in the eyes of opposition and give them the answer by words too. Before him, Indian Team was full of Mumbai players, almost 9 out of 11. He picked players from the small towns too. And this was the start of TEAM INDIA.
Ganguly started & Dhoni taking this one step ahead, I am not against Dhoni, yes. he is a great captian, but all I wanna say is that, the team which Dhoni is leading, is made by Ganguly, The Team India.

What he said?

If you gonna do something new & innovative than don’t look at the crowed of peoples who are against your decision, always look at few close people, who are with you, it will give you confidence to complete the task.

But perhaps he forgot that this is India, 120 crores of people are against you until you succeed, if you are succeed, than they will say, we always know, that only he/she gonna make it, or if not, than no one gonna praise your efforts.

I am here to win Games, not popularity contests.

on his so called arrogant behaviour in media.

I was probably the most loved man, when we beat Australia in a test series a few years back. But I am oftem the most hated man in India.

I would like to be rememberd as someone who has taken Indian Cricket forward. Someone who tried his best every time he went out to play for the country.
