I've had a peaceful couple of months and although I don't mind spirit activity per se, I do not like how everything else malfunctions when spirits are present.

I guess it was too good to last. The other evening around the usual 9:00-10.00 P.M. hour, when most of the unusual stuff occurs around here, my smoke detectors started screaming again. Readers will remember that I experienced this before and it was the new smoke detector in the dining room that malfunctioned and wouldn't shut off.

The detectors, rather than chirping as they do when they need new batteries, started sounding instead. I got up and went into the old upstairs landing and they stopped. Hmm. I went back to the bedroom and about 10 minutes later, they started screaming again. I got up and went back out on the landing and they stopped--almost as if something was trying to capture my attention.

I mentioned to my boyfriend that I hoped this wasn't a signal that the spirits were back in my home. A couple of days later a friend came up to stay. Now, she is psychic, too, and I don't know if this somehow magnified the energy or attracted it but . . .

We were sitting in the living room and talking. She looked past my shoulder and saw something looking in the doorway at us. She said she'd seen something twice but had brushed it off as her eyes playing tricks on her. this time, thought, it was unmistakable. We both heard sounds in the foyer. I feel good about this because it confirms to me that I'm not losing my grip on sanity and that these things really are occurring here.

We went to bed and my friend related that she heard someone walking around in the dining room during the night and she heard the sound of footsteps overhead. The next morning events took an even stranger turn.

She was in the upstairs bathroom; I was down in the kitchen. When we later compared notes, we realized that we both experienced something at the same time.

She was brushing her teeth and saw the bathroom door opening. Now, my friend grew up in older homes and is used to doors that pop open because of crooked floors--and this is what she thought at first--until the door knob started turning. At this point she thought I had gone in search of her. When she looked, no one was on the other side!

Meanwhile, I was down in the kitchen and standing facing the stove. I heard a tube of concrete roll across my island. Now the tubes sat there the previous afternoon and overnight and didn't move. I wasn't moving around so couldn't have caused vibrations to cause one of the tubes to roll. I rolled it back to where it had been and tested to see if the counter was crooked in that spot of the house. The tube rolled either way and didn't roll in one particular direction, so that ruled out a slightly sloping counter.

My friend came downstairs and we told each other of our strange experiences. We tried the jump test to see if we could get the tube to roll. Jumping up and down did not cause it to roll. Nothing would budge it.

This isn't the first time objects have moved in this house. My dining room chair moved three feet, a pen dropped off my kitchen table when my back was turned. A pen on my front room coffee table moved on its own, a tightly affixed light cover flew off, a stroller tipped over, a curtain kept catapulting off a window.

Try as I might to find logical explanations for all of this, I'm beginning to seriously believe this house is haunted.

Dining Room Chair Moving

Readers of this blog will know that my dining room is "active." I've had ongoing paranormal activity in that location. We know that a fellow died before his time in there and I believe that this is what causes the unexplainable occurrences.

The stroller hasn't tipped over again because I finally disposed of it. The smoke detector is behaving itself for the time being and the curtain has stopped flinging itself from the window. I put in a request that "whoever" or "whatever" did not need to do this to engage my attention.

I asked for a more tangible sign that something was in the house.

Now, the dining room chair keeps moving--and in the very area where the former resident expired!

I have 6 chairs placed around my dining room table and they are never pulled out from the table. The exception to this would be if I were to have company and wanted to entertain in that room. The chair that keeps moving is the one chair I would never leave out because it would block my passage into the laundry room.

I was in the dining room recently. I had moved a mantel in there. I crossed a couple of times into the laundry room to see how the mantle looked against the far wall.

I went upstairs. I heard the usual noises in the house but paid little attention. When I came down an hour later, the dining room chair had been moved out three feet from the table and was turned out slightly, as if someone had been sitting in it. Unbelievable!

I pushed the chair back against the table and lined it up with the lines in the wood flooring. A couple of days later I came downstairs and the chair had moved out an inch past where I had placed it.

My boyfriend came up and he carefully lined up the chair so that the legs were placed against the lines in the wood floor. We checked the chair a couple of times but there was no movement.

He left the house and I checked the chair. No movement. The next day, I entered the dining room again. The chair had moved out from the table about an inch and was turned slightly. Go figure.

It's interesting how you can know that something is going on yet your rational mind tries to find explanations--even when none exist. I know I didn't move the chair . . . but just on the off chance . . . see what I mean?

For centuries people have been fascinated yet equally terrified about the idea of paranormal activity. Of course we have all been scared out of our wits or jumped out of our seats while watching a ghost flick, but is there a reality to our fear? Are we truly terrified of the paranormal activity we see in mainstream media for a reason? Many people love the idea of a great horror movie, but would it be so entertaining if we really knew how much paranormal truth can be evident around us?

When it comes to the fear of ghosts and stories of haunting we can go back decades and even centuries to find real life examples. The truth of the matter is that in these modern times, real life ghost sightings and paranormal activity are becoming increasingly abundant. No longer are these situations being limited to old fashioned, creaky and creepy buildings, but there are reports of paranormal activity popping up all over the country. Are our fears simply starting to play tricks on us? Or have the dark and unsettled spirits really begun to interact with us more often?

The best advice you can take on this matter is to not jump to any swift conclusions or you may end up getting yourself worked up over nothing. If you feel a paranormal presence or are hearing unusual sounds, make sure you take a thorough look around your house. Try to find an easy explanation for the noises you hear. If you do not find anything legitimate to explain any changes, then you can confidently go about looking into more serious and efficient measures. Apply common sense to every situation to ensure that you are simply not overreacting to the increased paranormal activity within mass media in today's society.

No easy explanations? Still hearing strange noises late at night or feel an unavoidable presence even after fixing the water pipes and checking for creaks in the floors? Now you can begin to take more drastic measures. First off, try and catch any patterns you can see or find in the paranormal activity. Identify at what exact time you get a feeling of a weird energy or when you hear the noises. It may coincide with certain activities that you are engaging in or certain guests that you have enter the home. If you can determine the source of the problem or the reasoning for it, you will be well on your way to finding the truth and eventually solving the issue.

As with any situation, you should enter this one with an open mind. Of course you may never find solid proof when it comes to the life of the paranormal, but nor will you find solid proof admonishing it. With an open mind you are more capable of dealing with any number of issues that you may run into. At worst, you will be more informed than you were before. You may even have some fun while researching paranormal activity.

When Objects Move

The curtain has come off the window again in the dining room. This is about the fourth or fifth time since October. I'm trying to determine what could be causing it. Is it a spirit trying to get my attention? Why does it always happen in the evening?

I've mentioned in previous posts that my dining room is the area of the house where a fellow died. Now I'm considering whether he was looking out that particular window for help before he perished.

I was told was that he had called a taxi and collapsed in front of the dining room door. I believe he was discovered some days later. Did he look out the window waiting for help. Did he know he was in trouble?

The funny thing is that I remember thinking, the evening before, that I wasn't experiencing any more curtain troubles and I figured that events had come to an end. As if to let me know that events hadn't stopped, the next day, when I entered the dining room, the curtain was off the window again!

The rod is the type you tighten by untwisting. I have tightened it repeatedly and it has been pushed securely in place. Is the house flexing? Is this problem temperature related?

If I didn't know better I would think that something doesn't want the window to be blocked with a curtain. The curtain is light, made of lace, so I know that it's not the weight of the lace that's causing the rod to come out of the window frame.

Curiouser still, one time, the rod came out of the rubber foot. The foot was still stuck to the window frame, which shows how tightly the rod was affixed to the window casing. How the heck did the rod slide out of the rubber foot without knocking it down?

I think I will try switching rods again to see if that corrects the problem.

The same evening this transpired, a piece of paneling in my music room also tipped over; however, I believe that this really could be due to temperature fluctuations. Maybe the paneling has become more flexible with increased springtime humidity here in the Maritimes.

This is so exciting! I walked into the kitchen at Roselane this evening and heard something drop behind me, over by the kitchen table.

I turned around and found a pen on the floor. Now, this pen has been on the table for weeks and hasn't moved. I didn't hear it roll and drop--it was as if it had been simply lifted and then dropped off the table, the moment I entered the kitchen and had my back turned-as if something was trying to get my attention.

Readers who have been following this blog will know that I experience ongoing incidents at Roselane, my Victorian home.

Tonight, feeling that something was possibly trying to capture my attention, I spoke out loud and said that if anyone was trying to contact me to please move the pen. I explained that the pen didn't have to be dropped on the floor, just moved. I placed it in the center of the table and stood and watched. Nothing happened. I made some tea and turned my back.

I went to leave the kitchen, tea in hand . . .. The pen had moved!

I thanked whatever it was for moving the pen and asked that it move it again. Incidentally, the pen is on a rubber mat so the surface area is not one that facilitates easy movement.

I will go down to the kitchen later and see if anything else has occurred.

Note: I've checked a couple of times but so far the pen has stayed in the same spot; however, I was coming upstairs and heard something in my bedroom. The sound was loud. I had a knife on my dresser that I had been using to stuff insulation in some areas of my home. I entered the bedroom and the knife had somehow been catapulted off the dresser and was lying on my carpet.

So, whatever is here is still trying to catch my attention. I realize that I'm truly living in a haunted house.

Orb in Attic

I've mentioned in previous posts that this house, Roselane, had an orb with what appeared to be a face on it, appear in the dining room area. The picture was taken by a realtor when he listed the house.

Recently, I had a fellow in to look at my attic. We were discussing insulating and he climbed the ladder to take a look.

While he had his head stuck through the trap door in the ceiling, he mentioned that he would be happy to snap a couple of pictures of the attic so that I could see what it looked like.

My ceilings are very high and, so far, I haven't attempted to crawl up there. The trap door is on the old landing upstairs and a low railing over the staircase doesn't offer real support if someone were to fall against it. I readily agreed and grabbed my camera.

A couple of days later, I finally looked at the pictures. Something told me that I would see something in the attic. Call it a psychic nudging.

I looked through the photos and saw two orbs. One wasn't very clear and I haven't bothered to include it here. But the other . . . now that's saying something. This orb was startlingly clear and I ask for readers' comments on what they see.

I enlarged the picture so that a closer view of the orb would be possible. This has made the picture somewhat grainy but serves the purpose.

Interestingly enough, the fellow was shooting into darkness, so I wonder what factors led to two orbs showing on the photos?

I have to say, my all time favorite read is Haunted by Dora L. williams. I've read the book twice and would recommend it for anyone seeking to gain a greater understanding about haunted houses and events that can occur in them.

Ghost at My Shoulder

I have related in previous posts that my dining room has been the site of strange activity.

I was discussing the curtain scenario (the curtain that keeps getting flung from the dining room window) with my boyfriend. I mentioned I was considering trying to replace the rod, taking an identical rod from my front room and slipping it into the curtain to try to determine if it was the rod that was causing the trouble or if it was truly something arising from the spirit realm.

As I was discussing this with him, I noticed a large cold spot to my right. Now, I was sitting in my front room at the time. This being a Victorian house, I've gotten used to drafty areas. This cold spot was unusual and I could delineate it with my hand, feeling a large circular area of cold and also feeling where it ended and normal air temperature resumed.

The next morning, when I entered the front room, the curtain on the front room window had been removed!

What's so strange about all this is the timing: we asked something to show itself in the dining room and in the aftermath, the curtain came off the window repeatedly; I considered using a rod from the front room and mentioned this out loud, then felt a cold spot--and that night, the curtain in the front room behaved in an identical fashion. This is the first time the curtain has come off the front room window.

Whatever is here, it certainly seems to be trying to capture my attention.

Curtain Acting up Again

I wrote in previous posts how my dining room had been the site of much spirit activity and how I've experienced ongoing events in that area.

The most recent has been a curtain that keeps flinging itself from the window. I have one of those curtain rods that you twist to tighten and no matter how tight I make it, it somehow seems to get thrown from the window.

This morning, I came downstairs and, low and behold, the curtain had been removed from the window again! This is the fourth time in as many months. The rod was leaning up against a dining room chair.

Interestingly enough, the other night, I couldn't sleep. I felt I had gone into "red alert" and spent the night listening and sensing energy. I blamed it on late night tea but now know better. Although I'm psychic, this is always mixed with a blend of skepticism. I try to find a rational explanation for the psychic events I experience. Most of the time, though, later events point to a different scenario.

Because the dining room had previously been the site of an orb, pendulum activity, and a new camera malfunctioning and not taking pictures, I, in an attempt to reassure my boyfriend, suggested we go down there in "dead-time" and take photos--so he could see that whatever had been there had left. I had done a clearing and was confident that I had sent whatever had been there on its way (the energy of a fellow who had died in that room).

We went down to the dining room and asked that if anything were there, it would show itself, took our pictures, and then took a look. I knew, at the time, nothing was in the dining room because of how the energy felt. Our pictures showed corresponding results.

However, I now see why this course wasn't wise. I think we invited something back in. Since then the dining room has become active again. A stroller, that was leaning back against a pipe, went against the force of gravity, righted itself, and tipped over, the curtain flung itself off the window three times, and a new smoke detector malfunctioned, going off and startling the heck out of me.

And this morning, I came downstairs to find the curtain off the window again and leaning up against a chair by my dining room table!

I have to admit, I find this activity fascinating; sans the smoke detector incident, which was really unnerving; however, many people won't stay in this house alone. I had one contractor who refused to stay even a short while inside while I ran some errands.

I hope in future I will develop my abilities to the point where I can ascertain what the spirits want.

Psychic Information

People often wonder how psychics get their information. Psychic information comes through in many different ways depending on what psychic gifts the receiver possesses.

For myself, I obtain psychic information through precognitive dreams and precognitive "knowing." I can also remote view and I have information "come up to me and greet me." What I mean by that is that sometimes, when I'm talking with someone, names of people they know, their pets, or other information feels as though it actually crosses the room and comes over to me. I was reading recently that when psychic information comes in this fashion the receiver may be somehow tapping into someone's sub-conscious thoughts.I also can sense information around the person, as if in an unseen cloud.

I'm surprised by the different ways that psychic information comes through. And, of course, it also is apparent in a psychic person's ability to sense energy: how it feels, how it changes.

Another way of obtaining psychic information is through what I call peering. I have only been able to do this in recent years. Now, even with the ability to peer, I still have no control over the psychic information that comes.

I will not peer unless someone asks me to because I feel that psychic gifts have to be used with integrity. If someone was to obtain psychic information without permission, this would be morally unacceptable.

Seeing an Apparition

I've always wanted to see an apparition. For me, it would be proof of an afterlife.

Although I've always had psychic ability, my logical side wars with the other, so that my mind, first and foremost, tries to find rational explanations for out-of-the-ordinary events as they occur.

So often, I receive a psychic nudging and dismiss it as something else; then down the road, I find that that small voice was right all along.

Anyway, back to the reason for this post. As I said, I've always wanted to see an apparition but my abilities hadn't developed to that point.

Seeing an Apparition
That has all changed. It started with seeing dark orb-shaped objects that moved slowly, seemingly floating about. I rubbed my eyes to make sure that there wasn't something in them, as sometimes a floater will move up and down with your own eye movements. I tried looking towards the ceiling and then the floor. The objects kept increasing and decreasing in size, moving independently from my eyes.

Interestingly enough, I had felt a sense of intrusion. By this I mean that I'd felt that I was being observed. this happened in the days preceeding seeing the orbs.

One evening, I was stretched out, facing the bedroom wall. I got that sense of being observed again and turned over and in the same area where I had seen the dark orbs, saw another that increased in size and shape until it was as large as a human and took on somewhat of that appearance. Again, I made sure that I wasn't dreaming or in that half-waking state where your mind plays tricks on you.

I watched the shape. It stayed where it was, seemingly just watching me. It kept changing shape slightly and I believe this was because it was trying to manifest.

I have to admit that I didn't care for the dark color. I guess I've seen too many movies where dark-shaped apparitions signal the forces of darkness.

My bed is low to the ground so I rolled out of it and crawled across the floor and approached the dark shape. I wanted to make sure that I wasn't imagining things, seeking to verify that something was there.

I could still see it as I approached and I reached out my hand. As soon as my hand came in close proximity to it, it just as suddenly disappeared.

In hindsight, I should have stayed in bed and attempted to communicate with it, either mentally or verbally. I approached it head-on because of the sense of being observed. Strangely enough, I resented that feeling, as if my privacy had been invaded, and took a defensive approach.

I guess I will have to wait to see another apparition.

If humans could get past their fear, I wonder what would transpire?

Ongoing Events at Roselane

I mentioned in my last post that living in Roselane has conditioned me to ongoing events.

If you've been following this blog, you'll know about the recent happenings.

On the heels of the smoke detectors going off mysteriously, my tire went flat.

Now, this of itself is no big deal; however, when you look at the larger picture--something odd happening about every 3 weeks--a pattern emerges of a house that experiences ongoing events (bending knives, strange stains, strange noises, objects moving).

Getting back to the the tire scenario. This is the fourth time in two years this has happened. And I replaced the tires! I've had my headlights go out twice and have had ongoing car problems along with the strange happenings inside the house.

I find myself wondering if the mining disasters and the impact that has made on the area have something to do with the problems that residents experience.

Many people--myself included--feel a negative energy here. Conversely, the energy completely changes when you go to Parrsboro. Interestingly, Parrsboro is an area of mineral treasures.

This may be significant. A friend was telling me that areas where crystals are found are places of positive energy.

Whatever the origin, something always transpires. Is my house haunted? It's hard to say. Are there energy residuals/imprints? Who knows?

"Alarming" Events

Following on the heels of my friend's experience with the strange footsteps on the old staircase (I have two staircases, one modern and one old), I thought that things would quiet down for a spell. Hah!

The other morning, I was woken suddenly because all 3 of my smoke detectors were going off. I jumped out of bed and started sniffing to see if I could smell smoke. I knew that I didn't have anything turned on so wasn't really alarmed that a fire had broken out.

Living in Roselane has almost conditioned me to on-going events; however, what surprised me was the shortened time-span this time around the block. My company had just left. I'd spent a night or two, sub-consciously listening for those footsteps on the stairs, but nothing seemed overly amiss (I say "overly" because the house always makes noises) and I started to relax.

Now, the alarms were screaming for no apparent reason. I went to my electrical panel and flicked the main shut-off, but still they continued to sound. The noise was deafening! I thought that the neighbors would be wondering what the heck was going on. I unscrewed the cap on one detector and tried to see inside, which was difficult because the ceiling was so high. I was tempted to just rip the thing from the ceiling--anything to stop the deafening noise, which had being going on now for quite some time.

Next, I called my electrician. It was early in the morning so I got no response. I left a message and tried again later and finally got him. He knew or rather heard what was happening and instructed me to remove the batteries.

I went down to the dining room and did so with the detector that had been installed there. It was easier to reach. I pressed the button to shut the smoke detector off. Each time I left the room, it turned on again. Hmm . . . It was definitely the culprit and was setting the others off. I guess removing the battery had caused it to revert back and draw current. Finally, I was instructed to disconnect the darn thing.

Now, readers of this blog will be aware that before we ever moved into Roselane, we saw an orb with an apparent face in it, in one of the real estate photos in the dining room/laundry room area. We sensed a death presence in that room and a neighbor confirmed that a fellow had died in the dining room 6 years before.

Shortly after this, my daughter's friend came and tried to take pictures--but her new camera kept malfunctioning in the dining room, while working perfectly anywhere else in the house.

Next, a stroller simply tipped over. I had it leaning back against a pipe and it somehow went against the force of gravity and tipped itself over, as if blocking the doorway from the dining room into the laundry room.

In recent weeks, I've had the curtain on the dining room window fling itself off the window. I rehung it, tightening the rod, but two nights later, I heard a strange sound downstairs and when I went to investigate the curtain was back on the floor!

Now, just days later, the smoke detector in the dining room was malfunctioning, stubbornly tuning itself on repeatedly. The smoke detectors were new but my electrician tells me that the battery back-up models sometimes do this.

I have no problem with that, what I find curious is that out of three new detectors, why was it the smoke detector in the dining room that went haywire?

Spirit Activity at Roselane

This past weekend, I had a friend come up and stay over. We had an interesting experience while she was here.

I've mentioned in previous posts that my house, Roselane, is a Victorian--and I seem to have on-going experiences that aren't easily explained.

I had done some clearing exercises to try to curb the noises, strange smells, and general energy in my house. The exercises seemed to have worked because I sensed a shift in the feel of the energy.

However, it appears that while the energy has changed, there are still things that occur the seem to have no logical explanation.

* A stroller tipped over
* A light cover fell off--one that had been extremely hard to snap in
* A curtain in the dining room fell off the window
* I tightened the rod to ensure that it wouldn't fall again and two nights later, the same thing happened!

* The other evening, I left my office and went downstairs momentarily. I purposely left my monitor on and program I was working on open so that I could return to it to finish up a page, and I left the light on. At the doorway, I turned and looked back and remember thinking to myself, good, that program will keep for a few minutes until I can finish up what I'm doing. I came back upstairs . . . . The light in my office was now off, the program had been closed, and my monitor turned off. Hmmm . . .

But the most fascinating event happened when my girlfriend came to visit. We had yacked ourselves silly and were ready for some quiet time. I was upstairs playing my guitar and singing; she was at the opposite end of the house, downstairs in the living room, sitting and reading.

She says that she heard the old staircase creak and then footsteps sounded. She was still reading and at first assumed it was me. The footsteps paused in the foyer, outside of the living room. She looked up expecting to see me in the doorway, then realized this was impossible because she could still hear me singing and playing my guitar upstairs.

Matters didn't end there. The footsteps crossed the foyer and went into the dining room. She heard something clear its throat. She says she got the impression that it was a male presence.

When I came downstairs later, she related what had happened.

Is all this spirit activity? Who knows.

Psychic Nudging: That Still Small Voice

That still small voice . . .

How many times in life does it nudge us?

The other evening, I had another experience which reminded me to always, always listen in when I receive information.

I was driving home after dark. Suddenly I got the strongest message: "Hurry, hurry. Danger." Now, I immediately thought, what's up? My car had received an inspection and I'd had some work done on it and I thought, how ridiculous, the car is fine.

As I drove, the same mantra kept repeating in my head. And I felt the danger. Palpably. I was taking a shortcut on a dark country road and it was late at night. The feeling was so strong that once I reached the highway, I hot-footed it home.

I swung into the driveway and went to turn off the ignition. Before I could do so, however, both headlights went out. Both. I sat there stunned, thinking of the predicament I would have been in if I had lost both headlights when I was up that dark country road. I would have had a heck of a time seeing where I was going with no street lights to guide me.

Once again, I was reminded to always listen to that still, small voice--even if, at the time it comes, the message fails to make sense.

In hindsight, it's been my experience that it always does.

Haunted

I just got through reading Haunted by Dora L Williams. It was a fascinating read.

This true story chronicles events in a Canadian family's life when they are drawn to and purchase a Victorian home.

Dora encounters repeated disturbances in her home and finally sees apparitions. Her fear turns to awe as she studies them. She sets out to learn more about the history surrounding her home.

Dora and her family ultimately help the spirits by learning why these ghosts needed to send a message to this family.

I would recommend this book for those who are interested in learning about spirits and why they choose to communicate with humans.

Psychic Demonstration

A couple of months ago, I had the opportunity to attend a psychic show.

I have to admit that it was a bit of a disappointment. Why?

The psychic didn't do anything I couldn't also do. He tapped into the room's energy and was able to determine and receive information about audience members.

He apparently was able to tell people bits and pieces about themselves--but I wasn't entirely convinced he wasn't just using cold reading techniques.

The part I wish had been explored in greater depth were the EVP recordings he included. These were too short to really get a feel for anything tangible.

I also would have enjoyed a question and answer session because I wanted to ask him how he actually received his information.

The best part of the whole show came after it was over. I had a chance to talk to the fellow briefly and received information about him. I could feel a grandmother around him and I told him this. He confirmed that his grandmother had had a great influence on him.

I would like to attend similar events in the future and hope they shed more light on the ethereal.
