Commitments and the rush of modern life show the need for a space to rest and recharge the energy invested in the responsibilities we face every day. The ideal retreat is one that combines a sufficient distance from large urban centers to ensure the sense of disconnection and the necessary proximity to not waste time on large transfers between one location to another, as well as ongoing activities and services accessibility to enrich quality time spent on these precious stops into the daily routine.

Two exclusive ventures in growing poles of real estate focus the interest of those who bet on alternative places to classic locations of the east coast of our country: La Baguala and Chacras de las Sierras.

Carrasco is synonymous with houses with character, designed with an emphasis on the strength of construction and excellent finishes. Also security, serenity and manicured gardens, tree-lined streets and quiet avenues. Some of these streets are characterized by high real estate demand of residences located there and its proximity to the sea and services areas.

Caldeyro Victorica conducted a survey of the neighborhood and, taking into consideration variables such as price, location and quality of construction, our team developed this Top 5 of Carrasco’s most desired streets.

1. Santander

To the east, Gral. Santander street extends from Acosta and Lara Avenue to the Rambla. However, the five blocks between Rivera and the sea concentrate the most attention of the real estate market.

It is a hidden, low-profile street confused with other streets of Carrasco. The houses are mostly hidden by large hedges surrounding spacious residences of one or two floors with outstanding gabled roofs. Its proximity to schools and tranquility make it a favorite of families.

See properties for sale in Santander street: 4163-ZZ, 3693-ZZ, 3701-ZZ

It is one of the highest profile streets with stripped facade homes. Between Blanes Viale Avenue and the sea, its sidewalks adorned with palm paths and low houses with clear fronts are the hallmark of this street whose name pays homage to the Andalusian town Sanlúcar de Barrameda.

3. Harwood

West to east direction, from Bolivia to Arocena Avenue, we find Almirante Harwood Avenue.

Marina St. Lucia: between Montevideo and Colonia, on the western edge of the Santa Lucia river, is located the first nautical urbanization of our country.

The project began in the late 80s, with the initiative of a group of entrepreneurs to acquire the old Casarino shipyard and its adjacent land, in order to have a seaside villa for lovers of boats, fishing and activities offered by the Saint Lucia river and its proximity to the Rio de la Plata river.

Thanks to its strategic location -in front of Santiago Vazquez’s bridge, just 15 minutes from Montevideo and one hour and a half from Colonia de Sacramento- the nautical town grew rapidly to become one of the largest private urban developments in the country.

What can you do in Montevideo in summer? Our team thought a walking tour through Carrasco, our favourite neighborhood.

Breakfast at the Sofitel

Our day begins with breakfast in a Carrasco classic: the Sofitel Montevideo, where we can choose among alternatives of its varied buffet options or à la carte, in the sophisticated environment that proposes the renovated hotel.

Must-try: salmon snacks, raisins bread, homemade pain-au-chocolat and the parisienes station, with the creations of Chef Patissier Gabriela Beracochea, who combines local ingredients with French techniques of haute patisserie.

Walk down the Rambla

We are only meters away from the sea and the Rambla invites us to wander through its sidewalk or its beach. Good company or our favorite music selection are the ideal complement to the traditional walk.

Lunch at García

At noon, Arocena Street leads us to García. The classic Carrasco grill is a favorite of local and foreign visitors, who do not leave the country without tasting the house specials: the exquisite baby beef and rack of lamb.

In the afternoon, it is time to walk and shop in Rostand street, between Saéz and Otero. Five years after its creation, Geraldine Lewi and Joaquin Pastorino’s idea has become a downtown Carrasco classic and it’s always the perfect excuse for the latest trends in fashion and interior design of multi-brand retailers such as Home Banem.

Tea in Lavender

It’s tea time and Lavender invites us to enjoy a snack in a different environment. The sunset in vibrant greenhouse is the perfect place to share a slice of carrot cake, accompanied by an infusion or a fruit smoothie, if the heat dictates the menu selection.

Dinner at Cafe Misterio

We finish the day in the relaxed atmosphere of Cafe Misterio, where Montevideo’s best sushi and a complete menu of drinks await for us.

The post Carrasco Walking Tour first appeared on Invest and Live Uruguay.

A 12 hours tour by Caldeyro Victorica

Many foreign customers ask us where to go and what to do when visiting our country. What can I see in Uruguay? For them, we have set a roadmap to the beatiful and interesting east of the coast.

Since the sunny summer days have come, we’ve updated one of the routes to the east and we want to share it with you…

In the morning

We start the day with an early breakfast in La Linda, in La Barra. This unique design boutique bakery, invites customers to try all sorts of typical of the Río de la Plata delicacies .

We recommend trying their carrot pudding, scones and freshly baked croissants. Simply delicious!

To enjoy the ocean beaches in Uruguay, a recommended place is the one located in José Ignacio. Its tranquility, nature and beauty provide the perfect space for relaxation.

Midday

For lunch, the chosen place is La Huella, one of the most famous places among foreigners who come to spend the summer in Uruguay. The inn is nestled between the dunes, the seaside, in a privileged place by the Jose Ignacio lighthouse.

It offers visitors highest standard dishes. His philosophy is: “in the kitchen, we do not invent anything, we just do our best with what the ocean, land and fire provide us“.

Unmissable: their grilled black sea bass, served with whole roasted vegetables. The attention is very good and quite fast.

Tip: book in advance, the wait for a table can seem endless!

In the afternoon

Whether to share a 5 o’clock tea or a typical Uruguayan afternoon snack, we recommend Vik Hotel. Locations of design and avant-garde cuisine provide a unique moment in one of Uruguay’s finest rural accommodation.

For dinner, enjoy Pueblo Garzon’s peace, tranquility, good taste and warmth of the locals, who invite visitors to a tour around designer shops installed on the main square with its old and shady palm trees that frame the chapel and the social club front. Take a walk through the village and then dine at the prestigious Chef Francis Mallman’s restaurant: Hotel & Restaurant Garzon.

The post Punta 2016: What to Do This Summer in the East first appeared on Invest and Live Uruguay.

The exhibition explores the influence of globalization in the conception and perception of contemporary architectural projects and the contribution of Uruguayan professionals particular vision, influenced by landscapes, climates and local culture.

Through interviews with the architects, where they narrate the creative process behind their most important projects, it individualizes each professional and highlights personal innovations and current contributions to global tendencies.

For this purpose, wooden totem poles were placed, emulating smartphones. Each structure has a 24-inch monitor displaying 3 works and 2 projects of almost 40 national architecture studios, including those of internationally renowned Carlos Ott and Rafael Viñoly. Also, through a QR code, visitors can access directly to the website of each study.

The exhibition aims to the general public and fans, interested in the discussion of the possibility of adapting new architectural trends to our local enviroment.

“Most architecture makers of our country are represented here, through their work. The public showed so much support that the splendid third floor of the airport felt almost too small“, said the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. Ma. Julia Muñoz.

Uruguay was present with a dazzling pavilion designed by the architects of INAC (National Meat Institute), focused on offering visitors a multisensory experience approach to our country.

About 450,000 people visited the spectacular three-story structure, built with reusable wood and steel and conceived under the theme “Life grows in Uruguay“.

In it, visitors were greeted with information about our country, highlighting both the quality of its agro-intelligent production, through the use of renewable energy, latest-generation technology and the social progress that position us as leaders in Latin America, in terms of quality of life and respect for human rights and diversity.

Then, through the Ramp Sound, attendees could experience a sample of the soundscapes that identify our territory: from the voices of the barkers and the waves crashing on the ocean coast to the crackle of wood burning and the distinctive drum keys during the Carnival “Llamadas”.

According to the Uruguay XXI Institute, the activity “helped consolidate the country as a reliable producer of foods“.
