1.  Santander

To the east, Gral. Santander street extends from  Acosta and Lara Avenue to the Rambla. However, the five blocks between Rivera and the sea concentrate the most attention of the real estate market.

It is a hidden, low-profile street confused with other streets of Carrasco. The houses are mostly hidden by large hedges surrounding spacious residences of one or two floors with outstanding gabled roofs. Its proximity to schools and tranquility make it a favorite of families.

Since the sunny summer days have come, we’ve updated one of the routes to the east and we want to share it with you…

In the morning

We start the day with an early breakfast in La Linda, in La Barra. This unique design boutique bakery, invites customers to try all sorts of typical of the Río de la Plata delicacies .

We recommend trying their carrot pudding, scones and freshly baked croissants. Simply delicious!

To enjoy the ocean beaches in Uruguay, a recommended place is the one located in José Ignacio. Its tranquility, nature and beauty provide the perfect space for relaxation.

Midday

For lunch, the chosen place is La Huella, one of the most famous places among foreigners who come to spend the summer in Uruguay. The inn is nestled between the dunes, the seaside, in a privileged place by the Jose Ignacio lighthouse.

It offers visitors highest standard dishes. His philosophy is: “in the kitchen, we do not invent anything, we just do our best with what the ocean, land and fire provide us“.

Unmissable: their grilled black sea bass, served with whole roasted vegetables. The attention is very good and quite fast.

In the afternoon

The exhibition explores the influence of globalization in the conception and perception of contemporary architectural projects and the contribution of Uruguayan professionals particular vision, influenced by landscapes, climates and local culture.

Through interviews with the architects, where they narrate the creative process behind their most important projects, it individualizes each professional and highlights personal innovations and current contributions to global tendencies.

For this purpose, wooden totem poles were placed, emulating smartphones. Each structure has a 24-inch monitor displaying 3 works and 2 projects of almost 40 national architecture studios, including those of internationally renowned Carlos Ott and Rafael Viñoly. Also, through a QR code, visitors can access directly to the website of each study.

The exhibition aims to the general public and fans, interested in the discussion of the possibility of adapting new architectural trends  to our local enviroment.

“Most architecture makers of our country are represented here, through their work. The public showed so much support that the splendid third floor of the airport felt almost too small“, said the Minister of Education and Culture, Dr. Ma. Julia Muñoz.

Poseidon – Arq. Samuel Flores Flores

Arq. Mariana Caldeyro, Director of Caldeyro Victorica Real Estate, attended the opening and praised the initiative, highlighting the work of renowned architect Samuel Flores Flores and, in particular its flagship “Poseidon” house, in Punta del Este. “It’s such an impressive contemporary work, an example of ageless architecture. For me, he’s one of Uruguay’s finest architects“.

The activity takes place as part of the celebration of the 100 years of the Faculty of Architecture of Uruguay.

In 2011, Eduardo Constantini received the Order of Rio Branco in the degree of Commander, in recognition of his contribution to the dissemination of Brazilian culture. In 2014, he received “Entrepreneur of the Year” Endeavor’s award for its values, experience and commitment to innovation.

Recognized Argentine fashion businessman, Ricky Sarkany, also participated the Forum. For him, the key is finding the balance between creativity and potential profitability and confesses that -in his career- speed is the key factor to develop and follow last trends.

About 450,000 people visited the spectacular three-story structure, built with reusable wood and steel and conceived under the theme “Life grows in Uruguay“.

In it, visitors were greeted with information about our country, highlighting both the quality of its agro-intelligent production, through the use of renewable energy, latest-generation technology and the social progress that position us as leaders in Latin America, in terms of quality of life and respect for human rights and diversity.

Then, through the Ramp Sound, attendees could experience a sample of the soundscapes that identify our territory: from the voices of the barkers and the waves crashing on the ocean coast to the crackle of wood burning and the distinctive drum keys during the Carnival “Llamadas”.

Those advancing on the path, found an impressive hall surrounded by monitors supported by robotic arms, where was projected scenes of our traditional lifestyle, in permanent dialogue with the new customs arising from the technological development experienced by our country.

30,000 people interacted with the meat traceability app

A particularly prominent place occupied the space dedicated to gastronomy: ” Uruguay Natural Gourmet Grill”, which received more than 80,000 diners throughout the exhibition, 30,000 of which participated in a brilliant experience to corroborate the traceability of the meat offered through an application especially designed to inform about the Product, from cattle farm to the consumer. According to the Uruguay XXI Institute, the activity “helped consolidate the country as a reliable producer of foods“.

80,000 people enjoyed Uruguay Natural Gourmet Grill

The calendar of events Uruguayan Pavilion at Expo 2015 Milan included the presentation of various representative spectacles of our country, like tango, milonga and candombe performances.

In this regard, the highlight of the activities was experienced last August 25 on the occasion of the commemoration of the anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and its conclusion was focused on the performance of the prestigious Uruguayan artist and awarded Oscar winning, Jorge Drexler.
