It was expected on profit booking after yesterdays nice rally though. 17k on Sensex and 5k on Nifty still holds and positively maintain yesterdays prediction.

------------
Today Nifty closed above 5100 at 5147.95, more than 81 points than yesterdays close. The Sensex also gained 244 points closing at 17227. The Indian stock markets have hovered arounf 17K and 5K respectively for a long time now and have built a good support level I think.

If we close on even higher levels for this week, my guess is we can see a nice run northwards. I am happy to have made this decision and got a term life insurance for myself and my wife. Recently I received a lot of calls from different insurance companies about how good their term life insurance plans were and if I was interested to go for one. Of course I was thinking of the same but god knows how these life insurance companies got to know my intentions :)

Anyways, since then I did a lot of research about different term life insurance plans and discussed it with my family, friends and colleagues. I also found one great website www.financialone.com where I found a lot of interesting information about term life insurance.

Financialone.com also offers life insurance quotes and compares rates of different insurance companies. Financialone.com has a sleek and very user friendly form on the site where I entered the personal, financial and other health related details. Just feeling this form took and getting the comparison charts took less than a minute.

It definitely helped to find the right term life insurance plan for myself and my wife. If you are thinking of investing into a term life insurance do visit www.financialone.com which will help you make the right decision.

Thanks!

10 Ways to Earn Passive Income

10 Ways to Earn Passive Income

Here is a nice article I found on Hubpages.com. I either misplace it, or forget where I kept it, which pocket of which trouser I kept it and so on. If not all of this, I drop the cash while taking out something from my pocket...urr...Moral of the story, me carrying cash is a bad idea. Especially when I am travelling or going to shop with my family.

The solution I thought to this problem was a credit card or a debit card. After I started using the credit card, I realized that it was a bad idea, and though I didn't misplace my money anymore, I spent more than I had while shopping. The other thing I tried was a debit card, which will allow me to spend up to a certain limit. But it didn't work that well. Since I was using a debit card, the money started disappearing from my bank account and the balance went down so much that I had to arrange funds from elsewhere for other needs.

Now I think I have found an even better solution to this problem. It not similar to a debit card but much more than just a debit card which helps me spending my hard earned money very carefully. It is called "AchieveCard". AchieveCard is a Prepaid Debit card and is reloadable! It could be used at any location that accepts MasterCard.

The AchieveCard has tremendous advantages than carrying a credit or just a debit card. Since it is a Prepaid debit card, it automatically puts a limit on how much I spend. Of course I could always reload the card and use it again. It is accepted at all the places where they accept the MasterCard. This means there are millions of places where I could carry and use my AchieveCard without worrying about its acceptability.

Getting an AchieveCard, activating it, Adding Cash to it and using it are all very simple steps. You could even signup on phone by calling the number provided on AchieveCard's website. Grab one for yourself and stop worrying of carrying cash.

Visit here!

Brought to you by our friends at AchieveCard

Overcome Overspending

The method I write here is a most common and most successful method to manage personal finance. I have been using this method for years, and my parents have been using this for all their life! This has really proved to be the most effective way to manage day-to-day and month-to-month spending.

All you need to do is:

Get envelopes and write names on them. For example; Grocery, Transportation, Clothes, Misc. etc.

Review your monthly/weekly spending on each of the items and put money into each individual envelope accordingly. For example, if your average cash spending on grocery is $100 a week, put $400 into the Grocery envelope. This is like setting a monthly limit on your grocery. Try not to exceed it, rather try not to spend all the $400.

Put the cash in all the envelopes you named and write the amount on the envelope. Every time you spend some money from that envelope, write how much you spent and how much is left in the envelope. This helps you keep track of your available funds and helps you plan for rest of the month/week.

Try not to spend over the limits you have set but in fact try to save some money in each envelope by controlling your expenditure. This would make you think and plan your needs. If you have saved even a little amount in all the envelopes at the end of the month, consider that you have successfully planned and executed your funds for that month. Repeat the same process next month and see if you could do better.

Many people don't use it simply because they think of earning some interest on their money. For example; they might think that if they keep the money into a bank account and withdraw only when they need it, they'd earn some interest on the deposit! Of course, one can earn interest but the thing is that people lose the track, they don't know how much they have spent and how much is left in the account for a particular need.

So, if you want to keep track of it all and control your expenses and save some money, you should not go for the little interest you will earn if you kept this money in the bank. Using this method, you will actually control your expenses, think twice before you spend and at the end of the month I am sure you will have saved some.

What you do with this money you just saved? Well, There are many ways.

You can keep the money in the same envelope and refill it next month only with the balance amount. For example: If you save $30 out of $400, the next month you could deposit only $370; which adds up with the $30 you saved and you have $400 for the next month.

You can put this money into a bank account which you don't access frequently. In you do this for all your envelopes for all the months, soon your savings account will grow substantially and earn good interest too.

Once you have a good idea of how much you are saving per month, you can start a Systematic Invest Plan (SIP) with that amount. You could start this SIP and invest into Stocks, Mutual Funds or by an Insurance Policy etc which will benefit you in the long run, on a rainy day.

You could prepay your loan (apart from your EMI) and reduce your debt. By pre paying the debt, you are also saving a lot of interest you pay to the banks, credit cards etc.

You could follow any of these or if you know some other way to spend / invest your monthly savings, do drop a comment.

Credit Card Debt

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.
-- Henry Wheeler Shaw

Most of us have experienced what Henry Shaw said in the quote above. Of course carefully managed debt could prove to be a good deal but most of the times lack of financial planning makes the debt a trap which could last for years and still one won't get out of it.

This particularly applies to the credit cards. It is very easy to get a credit card and use the credit without giving it a second thought. But later when you start receiving statements it'd be too late and the only thing you can do is reply and Settle the debt as soon as possible. There are many available ways to clear the debt such as Debt Reduction, Debt Relief, Debt Negotiation etc. One can also consolidate all the debt and reply in EMIs.

In my personal experience, the best way is to avoid using credit cards while you shop, eat-drink. Use debit card instead so that you would limit yourself from buying things which you don't really need and could prove expensive in the future. I usually pay cash and if I need more then I use the debit card. Using credit card is very rare and only in case of emergency.

Thanks for reading!

Term Life Insurance

In one of my earlier posts on this blog I wrote about a great Life insurance plan introduced by LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India). I was just reviewing my Life Insurance policies and was wondering if I needed some more insurance including life and health insurance! Now that I look at my insurance and its premium I bought a couple of years back, it doesn't make me feel "insured". I think that I should be even better insured and I could afford to pay a greater sum as a premium.
Anyways the premium will keep increasing as we grow old. Keeping that in mind, one should choose a term life insurance plan which would cover life for a specific / limited period of time. This would work as a good insurance strategy as well as it will save you good amount at the end of the tenure. One could either drop the policy or pay annually increasing premiums to continue the coverage.

Today, choosing a correct term life insurance policy is too easy. Most of us don’t really understand the minutes of the economics and are least bothered about it. But we all hear about the slowdown and people loosing their jobs and you might be the next person to loose the job. This is my effort to express my views on the economic slowdown and how should anybody tackle it, though I am not an expert in this matter

I always wonder why people are so terrified about the economic slowdown and big industrial giants going bankrupt. Of course, many people have their reason to worry about these things but I don’t find one to do so.

I am not an economist but from whatever I have read and learned on the web, I understand that the economy runs in cycles. It may be the economy of a nation, an automobile giant or any other industry, company etc. Everything goes through this cycle which has its own down and up trends. I suppose that the economy was in an uptrend till the start of 2008 and now we are entering or we already are in a down trend.

One can find many reasons for why the economy is south bound and the reasons could differ or change from country to country. The reasons could be different for every down trend for that matter but I think the reasons are nothing but the triggers which drive the economic cycles. This is not the 1st economic slow down! The world has witnessed many more slowdowns in the past and has also recovered from the same, so why make a fuss about it?

Today, I find the headlines on newspapers, websites and blogs screaming like there is no tomorrow and the economy will never be strong again and the growth has reached its peak and now everything is going to end and we all are going to loose our jobs & money!

I think that we all need to be careful and save as much as I can for the nearest future and I am sure we all have enough time to review our necessities & spending. The industries will find a way to survive and after a few months or years it will all be smooth again.

An economic bubble has to burst at some point of time so that it all comes to a neutral stage and rise again. Everything goes through phases and whatever goes down goes up too!

I would take this slowdown as an opportunity to save well and invest sound. For example, this is the time to buy good stocks at cheaper rates and build your income sources for the future. This is the time to wake up and plan for a better future. If you loose your job, it would be a time to learn new skills and start exploring new horizons and to look for new emerging business sectors which would drive the economy of tomorrow.

Everybody need not agree with me and economy experts may have different thoughts about the slowdown but if you think this makes sense, plan your money and start acting upon it, I am sure we all have a bright future ahead!

Thanks for reading!

Money Management

Earning money and managing money are two important aspects of being financially successful. Everybody works for money and some smart people invest or trade the money earned to make more and more money. But a very few of them are successful. The only reason is lack of Money Management.

Rich people are often best managers of the money they earned. Their management of money is not limited to investing and trading in stocks etc but they also are very thoughtful about how and where they spend their money. After all it is hard earned money and it should be spent carefully and only after making sure that you are not buying a pimp gear or overpriced coffee which you don't really need to buy or something which doesn't have much value in it.

Check some of these examples of where not to waste your hard earned fortune. Work hard, invest long term, trade wise - Make money and save it for good! Save it for the rainy day and spend it wisely!!

Happy Investing

US Senate passed $700 bn Bailout plan

Finally the US Senate passed the $700 billion bailout bill which is supposed to bring new life into the sluggish credit markets. The bailout bill was approved by a 74-25 margin. On the top of the bailout bill, the congress has also has added a tax cut and extended federal protection for bank deposits.

Does it come as a surprise to you? I guess no. Most of you must have thought that this would happen tomorrow if not today. The good part of the story is that the US senate acted on this bailout bill very quickly and passed it also. The $700 billion is going to bring new life to many financial institutions is the US and of course, the bailout bill will also have an impact on the world markets, a positive impact hopefully.

Our markets, The BSE Sensex and the Nifty are closed today on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, but yesterday we saw some up move and the stock markets closed in the green. Nifty closed about 30 points higher and the Sensex closed at 13055 which is almost 195 points higher.

Although the Indian markets have a bright future, the markets are going through a bearish mood because of the happenings in US and in some other parts of the world. Now the elections to come, I hope we would again enter into a Bull Phase which will last longer than the earlier!

Thanks for reading,
Happy trading

LIC Introduces Money Plus-1

Money Plus-1 is an Unit Linked Endowment scheme launched by Life Insurance Corporation of India. If you have heard of "Money Plus" plan from LIC, you would probably get an idea of what Money Plus-1 scheme has to offer you. The Money Plus-1 plan offers four investment options:

Bond Fund

Secured Fund

Balanced Fund

Growth Fund

Money Plus-1 plan comes with lower Fund Management Charges and features like enhanced limits for investment in the Equity market for Secured and Balanced types of funds, enhanced limits for Critical Illness coverage and liberalized conditions for continuance of the policy after lapsation. The Policyholder gets assurance for five times of the total annual premium. Depending on the age of the policy holder, the assured amount may vary from 5 times up to 30 times of the annual premium paid by the policy holder. Like the Money Plus Unit linked insurance plan launched in December 2006, the policyholder can also make partial withdrawal of units at any time after the third policy anniversary subject to certain conditions. The maximum entry age is 65 years and the minimum entry age is 0 years.

The Premium can be paid in yearly, half yearly, quarterly or monthly modes with the minimum annual premium at Rs 5000/-. The allocated premium will be utilized to purchase units as per the selected fund type. On maturity, an amount equal to the Policyholder's Fund Value is payable. In the unfortunate event of death, the Nominee will be eligible to get higher of Sum Assured under the Basic Plan or the Policyholder's Fund Value provided the insurance cover is in full force.

Money Plus-1 is an Insurance Policy with many advantages over insurance policies offered by private insurance houses. The Policyholder pays the premium only for the first 3 years and still has his life covered for the term of the policy. This is a truly investment-cum-insurance plan set in the advantage of the Policyholder. Not to forget the tax benefit the Policyholder may receive on the annual premium paid and the very name of LIC, being the first and the largest insurance house of India by the Indian govt.

The unique identification number of the plan is 512L248V01.

Suzlon Energy: A Stock Ready to Soar

Suzlon Energy after opening at Rs. 305 went as high as 320.85 on NSE. Suzlon Energy, after a 1:5 split has touched a low of 186. If you are a trader / investor situated in the USA; you probably may have heard or read about it sometime.

I found a Guide to Exchange Traded Funds on the internet which explains the whole thing. It seems to be a easy to digest if you already are trading in stocks and Mutual Funds. To my understanding, Exchange Traded Funds are a golden mean between the Stocks and Mutual Funds! It has the advantages of both, the stocks trading and the Mutual Funds.

EFTs can be traded on the stock exchanges just like one trades in the stocks, with ticker symbols! Thats what made me even more interested dig a little more to find about Exchange Traded Funds. This site, etfguide explains the concept way much better than me ;) and is a through guide on the Exchange Traded Funds. Do go there and check it for yourself.

-- Happy trading

: Sponsored post

NIFTY Update

Below is view on NIFTY from Sharekhan.com

---------------------------------------------------
Relief Rally of 100 Points

The Nifty saw a relief rally today after correcting by almost 300 points from the top in the past few days.

The Nifty saw a relief rally today after correcting by almost 300 points from the top in the past few days. It closed the session up 100 points and above its 20-day moving average (20-DMA). In the short term, the Nifty has crossed the 61.8% retracement of its fall from 4245 to the low of 3965. It can be expected to test 4200 levels. On an intra-day basis, the Nifty will face resistance around 4200 levels and on breaking and sustaining above this level, it should test its all-time high of 4245. On the downside, supports for the Nifty exist at 4126, which is the 20-DMA. Below that, support lies at 4100 levels. In the short term, any decline towards the 20-DMA should be taken as a buying opportunity in the Nifty. On an intra-day basis, the Nifty will face high volatility in the coming days and one should be cautious if the index breaks the crucial support of 4100. As long as the Nifty is trading above the 20-DMA, our bias for the short tem remains Up.

Tisco should target Rs455 with support at Rs435.
TCS looks good and should test Rs1,320 with support at Rs1,275.
HLL should bounce back from the support level of Rs200 and test Rs216.

---------------------------------------------------
Happy Trading

Career in Finance and Accountancy

Accountancy Age Jobs is a site exclusively for those looking for a Accountancy and Finance related job in UK. Tata Steel won this auction with 608 pence per share for the Netherlands based Steel company Corus. This deal makes Tata Steel world's 5th largest Steel company with combined capacity of 22 metric ton per annum.

Tata's bid for 608 pence per share of Corus is 34% higher than the original bid.
Corus share holders will meet today to ratify the deal.

Tata Steel's share was trading above the 500 Rs mark in the last week. It saw a rapid growth from around 470 levels to approx 510 levels. Today when the markets opened it dropped by about 8% landing back to the 470 levels.

In the metal space Hindalco is also down at about 1.5%, trading at 178 level. The BSE metal index is down by 10.5% too.

It was a good opportunity for the investors who had bought Tata Steel shares at a higher price (above 500) to exit this counter after a long wait of a few months, with some loss, of course. In November/December rally also, Tata Steel was left out of the rally with a resistance at 490 level.

Contracts for Difference

A Contract for Difference (CFD) is an emerging Instrument used in the UK Stock Markets. It is a trading instrument similar to other derivative trading instruments like Futures and Option, or if you know Spread Betting you would get a better idea of what it could be! It is not everybody’s game though; one has to be well-versed in stock markets trading with good experience to get into Contracts for Differences trading.

It seems to me the CFD is gaining rapid popularity when I came across many resources on the internet talking about Contracts for Difference and how you could master it!

Happy Trading
--

Volatile Stock Markets

The Indian Stock Markets are being very volatile now! Sensex is moving 200 points up and 200 points down the next day!

This is an excellent opportunity for Day Traders with high risk profile. It would be minting money on the volatility!!

I think the Markets will continue to be volatile through February, March and April, i.e. Before and after the budget.

Every deep could be a good buying opportunity in select frontline stocks with a trailing stop loss. Selling partially on highs would be a good move to take some money home through these volatile sessions.

Happy Trading!
--

Year 2007

With the way markets are growing in the last few months, the fear factor takes over! We also witnessed a minor falls last months and this month. It was obvious that the markets will go down on profit booking from FIIs and Mutual Funds. After these dips the Indian Stock Markets are heading up again.

I think we will reach new highs in the month of January. Nifty and Sensex, both will create new highs. Nifty and Sensex also have created support levels through this journey. So a possibility of a drastic fall, which we call a 'correction', is very rare.

I think the markets will be volatile but it will not let you down :)

Happy Trading
--

Stock Market Update

The Indian Stock Markets are trading in green and the major movers are the Metal, Auto stocks.

The Markets recovered a bit after the fall back and will be volatile. The Nifty looks like will be trading in the range of 3700 - 3900. In a week or two, Nifty could also touch 3930 levels. So, that should be a god opportunity for those who went long on Nifty and the markets disappointed them. Of course, many of these people must have used stop losses' but I know a few who didn't protect their money and still are sitting on the long position! They would see the 3930 levels as a life saver.

The overall markets should be charged up in Jan with quarterly results coming in and the budget indicators moving faster.

Rajat K. Bose feels that the Markets may see recovery if Sensex sustains above 13515. Here are some more opinions about the markets from the experts.

Happy Trading
--
