Free Email Alert via SMS in India

What will you do if you are eagerly waiting for an email and you need to respond to that mail as soon as it arrives your inbox? It will be a great help if you could get an alert via SMS when the particular mail arrives. Gmail and most of the other providers has the facility, but I think the networks in India charge for the same. I found a way which is completely free of cost. I will explain it step by step. Works with any mobile network that offers free incoming SMS. I have added the way to configure it with GMAIL. Same way it can configured for any email provider.

PROS SKIP THE STEPS FROM 1 to 4 and just take an account at www.way2sms.com

STEP 1: Take your mobile phone and keep it near you.

STEP 2: Goto www.way2sms.com and make a free account by clicking "Register Here" button in the home page. You need to enter your mobile number. Your Mobile Number will be your login ID.

STEP 3: As soon as you click "Verify and Register" you will receive an SMS from TM-WAY2SMS. The message will be "Your way2sms.com account login id:xxxxxxxxxx(your mobile number) password:xxxx. By the time there will be a page in the browser where you have to enter your mobile number and password sent to you via SMS and press "Go".

STEP 4: Then they will ask you to change the password by entering the new password. Enter your new password.

STEP 5: Now you are logged in. Click on the "Mail" tab. Then create a mail id with way2sms. Then press the "Mail Alerts" on the top right corner. Press activate and there you will have to enter some information regarding, at what all times you need to recieve the messages and all. I recommend you to make it all 7 days and round the clock. Then press "Save and Activate".

STEP 6: Now goto your gmail account and press "Settings" and press "Forwarding and POP/IMAP". Select "Forward a copy of incoming mail to" and enter your way2sms mail id by clicking "Add new email address". They will send you a confirmation email to your way2sms mail id and you have to confirm it by entering the varification code provided in the email. Often it takes time to get the confirmation mail as the way2sms mail id is new.

STEP 7: After varification press "Filters" tab. Now press "Create a new filter". Now in the space provided enter your requirements of the emails which you need to forward it to your mobile as SMS. For example the senders mail id or any words that could be in the mail(eg: urgent).

STEP 8: Press next. Now select the 5th option "Forward it to" and select the way2sms mail id from the list.

STEP 9: PRESS CREATE AND YOU ARE DONE.

GPRS, MMS SETTINGS ERROR - NOKIA (solved)

I got an error "only 32 sets allowed, settings discarded" when i tried to save GPRS and MMS settings for my nokia 6085 that is an S40 phone. I was looking all over the internet to find out a way to clear my GPRS, MMS settings. Codes *#7370# , *#7380* etc... DOES NOT make any change to GPRS and MMS settings. Then I found some way to clear the settings that is explained below.

TRY THIS CAREFULLY.

STEP 1: Download the software "OXYFILE". It is a software that enables you to access the mobile memory. To download it click here.

STEP 2: Install the software and launch it.

STEP 3: Connect the phone to your computer using data cable or bluetooth.

STEP 4: Go to file browser that is located on the lower left side of screen.

STEP 5: Navigate to C:\predefomadm and expand(open) omadm.

STEP 6: Now you can see there will be 31 folders (named 01-31) and a folder named PRECFG inside omadm.

STEP 7: That 31 folders are settings that you have saved earlier and was not removed(Im not sure about 01 &02).

STEP 8: Delete all folders except PRECFG, 01 and 02 or you can just delete 2 or 3 folders as your need.

STEP 9: Now you have cleared all unwanted settings.

This worked with me very well.

What is Autoruns 9.01?
Autoruns 9.01, This utility, which has the most comprehensive knowledge of auto-starting locations of any startup monitor, shows you what programs are configured to run during system bootup or login, and shows you the entries in the order Windows processes them. These programs include ones in your startup folder, Run, RunOnce, and other Registry keys. With the ability to scan your RAM, Registry, hard drives, and external storage devices for known data-mining, advertising, and tracking components, Ad-Aware 2007 Free easily can clean your system, allowing you to maintain a higher degree of privacy while you surf the Web.

The interface features two skins and six tabs in the nav bar. The first two, Status and Scan, initiate file scans for adware. After scanning is complete, the program presents a results summary, followed by a line-item list from which you can select which components to remove. There is also an option to create a system restore point. Right-clicking an individual entry gives some information about suspected adware, though details beyond whether the malware is critical or negligible wouldn't hurt.

The third button, Ad-Watch, offers real-time defenses but only in the paid version. Web Update, the next button, controls definition file updates. The fifth button, Tools and Plug-ins, shows you which plug-ins are installed and controls TrackSweep, the new browsing tracks cleaner. TrackSweep is the only free function here. Smoothly integrated into the app, it wipes the cache, cookies, and history, and other breadcrumbs left by major browsers.

Settings is last, and provides access to auto-scans, browsers, scanning, the interface, and log files. The app does an excellent job of removing most malware components, although rescanning is necessary for a seriously infected machine. Despite the freeware restrictions, this is a fully functional adware remover, and Ad-Aware 2007 should be part of your arsenal.
