iOS Updates: ProCam and PanoPerfect

2013-04-26T18:37:00.000+08:00

It's been a while since I posted something here. I've been focusing more on my other blog -- My Macintosh and Me. But, fret no more with my post for today. Check out these updates for two photography applications that I have on my iPhone 4S.

ProCam ($0.99) - this cool camera application features SLR-like controls on your iPhone or iPod Touch. Not only is it for taking pictures, you can also shoot videos with the application. The update to the application includes these enhancements.

- Night mode to take photos in low light situations. In Night Mode, the shutter speed can be manually adjusted to allow more light to be captured by the sensor. The four shutter speed options available include 1/8 sec, 1/4 sec, 1/2 sec and 1 sec.
- Ability to change the time format (24h/12h) of the date and time stamp.
- You can now listen to your favorite songs while shooting with the application.
- An updated user guide

PanoPerfect (free) - I discovered this application in a Cult of Mac article. iOS 6.0 introduced Panorama and this application is a great way to share your panoramic shots. It's just an iPhone application at release but the application has been updated already to support the iPad. The latest update to the application now includes filter application to your Panorama uploads. It also includes a redesigned upload view, tweaked tab bar, improvements to Find Friends, App.net integration, modified Settings page and fix to Search crashes. You can check out my uploads to PanoPerfect here.

Springboard of my jailbroken iPhone 4S

My Springboard

Here are the tweaks I used to come up with my current Springboard, all of these are free in Cydia.

1. Winterboard - application used for enabling themes. I also used this to remove the icon labels in the docked and undocked applications.
2. Genesis - the theme used for this, it already has the replacement icons for the default applications of Apple like the Messages application, Music player, Clock, etc.
3. Zeppelin - used to change the name of your carrier to a cool logo like the Autobots logo I have enabled.
4. Five-Column Springboard - used to add an extra column
5. Five Icon Dock - used to add an extra application on your dock
6. BatteryPeek - used to hide the battery percentage and just display it with an action set in the Activator.

iOS Update: Flickr

2012-12-12T19:31:00.000+08:00

Fire up your iTunes update. If you have Flickr on your iOS device, the latest update is a major redesign of the application. Some of the updates include:

Simple sign up and registration process
16 unique camera filters
Full Groups capabilities
Explore interesting photos from around the world and nearby

I'm still downloading the update on my iPhone and I'll be posting a before and after comparison of the application in my next post.

Here are some snapshots of the Flickr update on iTunes.

iOS Updates: Camera+ and Snapseed

2012-12-06T21:51:00.001+08:00

Open up your iTunes because two photography applications have nice software updates.

First up, Camera+. The update to Camera+ is a major fix for a bug experienced by some users that display a black camera preview when the application is first launched. I personally have not experienced this but for those who did, this is a great update for you. The developers of the application shared how they fixed the bug thru a comment made by a Camera+ user in iTunes. There are also additional performance fixes to the application.

Second in the list is Snapseed. Snapseed is a great photo editing tool on your iOS device. Snapseed has just released a major update introducing a new icon for the application, making it free, added a Google+ sharing functionality, new Retrolux filter and updated Frames filter.

For those who have this on their iOS device, now is a great time to update them. If you have not downloaded them yet, go check it out in the iTunes App Store.

Gangster Squad: Free Hipstamatic Pak

2012-11-23T11:45:00.001+08:00

I got another free pack from Hipstamatic yesterday. This is my second free pack from the application. I got the first one (W Mag Commemorative) a few months back. The free pack I got yesterday was called Gangster Deco. And since this is a pack, I got a free film, lens and camera case. If you have this application on your iOS device, you might want to check out the application if you have a free pack too.

Hipstamatic is currently 50% off and selling at $0.99. The application can be downloaded for your iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. Be sure to check it out on the iTunes App Store.

Here are some snapshots of the free pack I got and sample shots I took with it.

iOS App Review: PanoPerfect

2012-11-19T12:48:00.002+08:00

iOS 6.0, the latest iOS released by Apple, introduced Panorama on the iOS device's camera. It's a very simple implementation and Apple did it perfectly. Now I've took some panoramic pictures using my iPhone 4S camera and I'd like to be able to share them. Some have shared their panoramas on Instagram but it does not look good. It's cropped squarely and the image looks small.

Now enter PanoPerfect, an application which I have discovered from Cult of Mac. PanoPerfect is a photo sharing application right on your iOS device dedicated for panoramas. I did not think twice downloading this application. It's pretty cool to instantly upload panoramas right on your iOS device after taking them. Here are snapshots of the application after downloading it and creating my account.

PanoPerfect is still at its infancy and the application absolutely has a lot of potential. Right now, you still cannot edit your pictures from the application but imagine if that can be implemented on a future update. You also cannot take panoramas directly from it but you can easily upload the photos you have taken from your Camera Roll.

PanoPerfect has just released its first update and it includes some of the enhancements below.

An all new discover and notifications tab
The quality of panoramas have increased
Option to share your panorama anytime after uploading

PanoPerfect is a great application for sharing your panoramas. Download it now on the iTunes App Store for free. This application is highly recommended. You can also follow me by searching for @loudsound.
