For some, this means it's a new way to experience application and web content consumptions. For others, it's a completely laughable matter.

Before iOS 5 was released, the iPad was fun to use and play with, but the lack of features and limitations on use and customization made it an impossible contender as a desktop or laptop replacement. With a rise on integrated apps, cloud synchronization and innovative apps, certain tasks that were previously only optimal to perform on a full-featured computer have become easier to deal with on Apple's flagship tablet device.

For starters, the iPad is a great way to improve your workflow by using apps that are typically memory intensive on Macs only on the iDevice. For example, having an email client open on the desktop would consume far too much of the system resources and take away from the experience of the desktop operating system. I now use the iPad as my primary email workstation.

If you are a super geek on a Mac, you've eventually run out of menu bar space at one point or bother by filling the top bar on the screen with too many menulets, each too vital to exit. On iOS, other apps can take on some of these tasks and notification handling; with the addition of Notification Center, keeping tabs on important alerts is simple, consolidated, and a better user experience.

But what about for those who need to fulfill their workflows in specific ways? What about those of us who spend hours trying to find a way to do something in the exact way we want it to function?

I'm one of these people, and in iPad Power User, I intend to make these workflow secrets accessible to the web. These are my articles that were deemed too technical for iDownloadBlog, the hacks and workarounds that were thought to be too complicated or not in high demand for the average iOS user or common jailbreaker. These will also be my wish list for apps and ideas that would help turn the iPad into a full replacement device for the tinkerer, hacker, and technological elitists that are not satisfied with compromising functionality for aesthetic value, simplicity, or ease of use for the typical iPad user.

While there are plenty of jailbreak tweaks in the wild that are important to power users, if not mandatory, my primary focus will be on how to do things right using App Store apps and built-in functionality. Why? Because I'm working with a device with limited system resources, and I'm often frustrated by the amount of processing power and memory usage lost to the increase in background processes that are typical to every optimal jailbreak configuration.

Not to mention that jailbreaking is a tech support nightmare.

If you seek that set of clever system extensions (tweaks) or that new functionality exclusive to jailbroken devices that supposedly changes the game for the week or two you first get it, you should totally check out iDownloadBlog. Alex, Jeff, Cody, and Sebastien are always churning out wonderful editorials, reviews, announcements, and videos that will keep your thirst for innovation quenched. You may also see the occasional article from yours truly published to the site from time to time.

Stay tuned for some content targeted at the geeks like you who love the iPad and want to be able to do more with it.

Keep an eye out for tips for killer accessories or desktop integration ideas, and at the very least, apps that we simply should not live without.

Posted via DraftCraft app
