With Personal Voice, users can save their voice in about an hour when that normally takes weeks, not to mention traditional voice banking is a costly service.

Personal Voice on iPhone has you read a series of random sentences. It needs a total of 15 minutes of you speaking – Apple notes that it may take “around an hour” to complete the whole process.

But the great part is you can do this in chunks, whenever you need to stop, your progress is saved and you can continue when it works.

Personal Voice on iPhone or iPad is a very valuable feature for those with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) and other health conditions that can impact the ability to speak.

But even for healthy individuals, it’s useful to set up to preserve your voice for the future – kind of like free voice insurance. Apple highlights Personal Voices are securely stored on iPhone.

Once created, the new Live Speech feature lets users type-to-speak with FaceTime, Phone, and third-party apps that support assistive communication.

How to set up Personal Voice on iPhone with iOS 17

On your iPhone running the iOS 17 beta, open the Settings app
Swipe down and tap Accessibility
Swipe down again, under Speech, choose Personal Voice
Tap Create a Personal Voice
Make sure to follow the prompts like recording in a quiet place, holding your iPhone “about 6 inches from your mouth,” and speaking naturally
Conveniently, you can start the process and stop at any time and come back to finish setting up Personal Voice
If you’re having trouble getting the feature to finish processing, try plugging in your iPhone overnight with a wired cable instead of using wireless charging.

Here’s how it looks to set up Personal Voice on iPhone:

Along with starting the process to create a Personal Voice, you can choose to share it across your Apple devices and enable third-party apps to use Personal Voice.

To start, you name your voice or you can use the default, then you’ll do a sound check.

Once you start recording, the process will automatically move from one phrase to the next.

Tap Done in the top left corner at any time to save your progress and return later. You can also tap the back arrow to return to a previous phrase.

After setting up Personal Voice, you can enable Live Speech under Settings > Accessibility with a triple-click shortcut.

Looks like Apple just accidentally confirmed “realityOS” for its rumored headset

An upcoming Apple headset will be powered by a new operating system. And now, we’re seeing the “realityOS” name referenced in Apple’s source code for the first time ever.

Apple may release a mixed reality headset in 2023. It could preview the product at WWDC this summer and provide developers new tools to write downloadable apps.
Curiously, references to “RealityOS” have now been unearthed from App Store upload logs and the company’s open-source code. An Apple headset should be a self-contained product that will have its own App Store so this discovery is pretty significant because it suggests ongoing work on the accessory.
“rOS” and “RealityOS” were first mentioned in 2017 as possible internal names for custom operating system software that’s expected to power Apple’s headset.
Apple headset will be powered by “RealityOS”
Matthew Davis, an iOS developer with Lyft, spotted references to “rOS” in App Store logs and Apple’s source code available on Github. “Looks like Apple just accidentally confirmed Reality OS,” Matthew wrote on his Twitter. This is the first time that references to the rumored Apple headset operating system were found in any Apple code. Irish developer Steve Troughton-Smith followed up by opining that the discovery at least confirms that Apple’s headset will indeed have its own operating system and binaries. He was also able to discover a “realityOS Simulator,” which could be similar to a feature in Xcode that lets developers rapidly prototype and test builds of their app.

“iOS Simulator,” as it’s known, is a standard Mac app that simulates an iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch or Apple TV environment. realityOS Simulator could let developers test apps for an upcoming Apple headset on a Mac without actually owning the accessory.
Reality OS is apparently codenamed “Oak.” In its first commercial version, the new operating system is expected to focus on communication tools and media consumption. The company could choose a more commercially appealing name for “rOS” before launch.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg was the first journalist to mention “rOS” and “RealityOS” as far back as 2017. Here’s a relevant excerpt from Mark’s write-up:
The new operating system, internally dubbed “rOS” for “reality operating system,” is based on iOS, the iPhone’s operating system. Just as tvOS powers the Apple TV, macOS runs on Macs and watchOS runs on Apple Watches, “rOS” will power Apple’s AR headset. Geoff Stahl, formerly a software manager for games and graphics at Apple, is one of the directors of the “rOS” software group.

Apple’s headset should be a standalone product requiring no connection to a computer or another device for processing purposes. Because Apple is designing the headset as a self-contained product, it’s expected to use custom chips providing Mac-level performance. Powerful hardware could, however, easily make Apple’s mixed reality accessory much more expensive than headsets from Meta, HTC and others.
It’s unclear whether the first version of the product will be a pricey development device aimed at programmers who would like to write software for it. If so, then the product could eventually be followed by a more affordable version engineered for the masses.

iOS 15.4 Will Let Third-Party Apps Use iPhone 13 Pro’s 120Hz ProMotion Displays to the Fullest

Since the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max launched with 120Hz ProMotion displays, third-party apps have been hamstrung by a Core Animation bug that capped their maximum usable framerate to 60Hz. Apple seems to have fixed this bug with the iOS 15.4 beta build that was rolled out to developers earlier this week.

The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have been available to customers for several months. However, the Core Animation bug prevented developers of third-party applications from taking full advantage of the potent 120Hz refresh rate display. The hardware allows for smooth scrolling experiences and an improved visual experience while gaming.

Christian Selig, the developer of the award-winning Reddit app Apollo, tweeted that an Apple representative informed him of the Core Animation fix in iOS 15.4 beta. The developer later confirmed that the fix had been implemented.

So, if you have an iPhone with a ProMotion display, you could soon experience more fluid scrolling and animations in apps. The smoothness helps the user interface appear more cohesive and well-integrated. That said, we are surprised it took Apple four iterations of iOS after the iPhone 13 launch to finally fix a bug that was significantly detrimental to the user experience.

Besides this fix, iOS 15.4 beta brings a host of useful new features, including new emoji, Universal Control, and Apple Card widget.

How to Use WhatsApp on iPad

It’s 2022, and WhatsApp has yet to release a standalone iPad app. That’s about to change with WhatsApp’s new multi-beta device function. Until WhatsApp makes it official and develops an iPad app, you must rely on WhatsApp Web to view and reply to WhatsApp messages on the iPad.

Don’t get your hopes high, though. We will also share some of the limitations you might encounter while using WhatsApp on iPad via Safari.

Set Up and Use WhatsApp on iPad

WhatsApp’s multi-device function allows you to use WhatsApp on up to four devices even when the primary device doesn’t have an internet connection.

Join WhatsApp Multi-Device Beta

First, we will show you how to join the Multi-Device Beta program for WhatsApp so that you can enjoy messaging on iPad without relying on iPhone. Follow the steps below:

Step 1: Open WhatsApp on iPhone and go to the Settings menu.

Step 2: Select Linked Devices, tap on join and close the app.

Note that multi-device support isn’t available to everyone yet. If it’s not showing up in WhatsApp Settings, you may need to skip this step and move ahead.

Setup WhatsApp in Safari for iPad

We will rely on WhatsApp Web to use the IM (instant messaging) app on the iPad. For WhatsApp Web, we will showcase the steps with Safari.

Step 1: Open Safari on iPad and visit web.whatsapp.com. A QR code should appear.

Note that if you cannot see the QR code, your iPad is probably running an older version of iPadOS. You need to tap on the three-dot menu beside the address bar and request the desktop site.

Step 2: Move to your iPhone and open WhatsApp. Here, go to Settings > Linked Devices menu.

Step 3: Tap on Link a Device, and it will open the device camera to scan the QR code.

Step 4: Point the iPhone towards the iPad, scan the QR code, and voila!

You will see all your WhatsApp chats appear on your iPad. You can now send messages, images, videos, documents, etc., to your WhatsApp contacts on iPad.

Add WhatsApp Web Shortcut on iPad Home Screen

Using the trick above, you must open Safari every time just to use WhatsApp. Apple does offer an option to add WhatsApp as a home screen shortcut on iPad. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Visit web.whatsapp.com on Safari on iPad.

Step 2: Tap on the three-dot menu in the browser tab.

Step 3: Select Add to Home Screen, and you will see the WhatsApp shortcut icon appear on the iPad home screen.

Before adding WhatsApp to the home screen, you have an option to rename the app. Check the name and web address. Then tap on Add at the top.

Now WhatsApp access is only one touch away on your iPad. As soon as you tap on the WhatsApp icon, it will open WhatsApp Web in Safari on iPad.

This is just a web shortcut for WhatsApp. You won’t be able to see WhatsApp in the App Library, and you won’t have any widgets to utilize either.

Limitations of WhatsApp on iPad

WhatsApp on iPad is simply a web wrapper for now. It carries the same functions (and limitations) as the WhatsApp Web version.

Average performance. Occasional lag here and there. Not on par with a native app.
No video and voice call function.
It will use contacts saved on your iPhone and not your iPad.

There you have it! Follow the steps above and enjoy WhatsApp on iPad. While it does have several limitations, WhatsApp via Safari is good enough to reply to messages without pulling out your iPhone.

HomePod 11.4.1 Firmware Update Released [Download]

Along with a raft of new software updates including iOS 11.4.1, Apple has today released a new software update for the HomePod, too.

Bringing it up to software version 11.4.1, this is the third update to become available for Apple’s smart speaker and aims to add improve stability and quality to the audio device.

Apple only recently released version 11.4 of the HomePod software that brought with it new features such as AirPlay 2 and the ability to add an extra HomePod for stereo listening, but this latest release brings with it a much more generic round of changes; the release notes that go along with this 11.4.1 release simply say that “11.4.1 includes general improvements for stability and quality.”

While we’ll take any improvement, especially considering the audio quality of the HomePod is already pretty impressive, we’d still prefer something a little more specific as far as the release notes are concerned.

If you want to get this update onto your HomePod then you can either wait for it to happen automatically or fire the installation off manually via the Home app on your iOS device. Importantly, the update is downloaded by the HomePod itself, meaning the instruction for it to update can be done from anywhere and at any time, even when the iOS device initiating it is not on the same WiFi network.

Apple’s HomePod has experienced a stuttering start to life in the Apple ecosystem and while few would argue against its audio quality, it’s Siri and its inability to do many of the things Amazon Echo users take for granted that has left many people cold. This, plus its relatively high price tag, has left the HomePod with something of a stop-start launch that looks set to continue unless Apple can make some serious improvements to Siri, which hopes will be done via iOS 12 and its Siri Shortcuts feature.

How to Jailbreak Your iPhone on iOS 11.3.1 Using Electra (Windows)

hese are instructions on how to jailbreak your iPhone using Electra and a Windows PC. Currently, this jailbreak only supports devices running iOS 11.2 - 11.3.1.

Step One
Make sure to backup your device using iCloud or iTunes before you begin.

Step Two
Download the latest Electra jailbreak from here and Cydia Impactor from here, saving them to a folder on your PC.

Step Three
Right click the Impactor zip and extract the archive.

Step Four
Launch Impactor.exe from the extracted folder. DO NOT Run as Administrator.

Click Run if asked to confirm.

Step Five
Connect your iPhone to your computer via USB making sure to select Trust if prompted on your device and Continue if prompted by iTunes.

Drag and drop the Electra IPA we downloaded earlier into the Cydia Impactor app.

Step Six
You will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. This is only used to sign the IPA, letting it run on your device.

Step Seven
Cydia Impactor will sign the IPA and install the new Electra jailbreak app on your device.

Step Eight
Launch the Settings app from your SpringBoard then choose Siri & Search from the Settings menu.

Tap to turn off the Listen for 'Hey Siri' and Press Home for Siri toggles.

Step Nine
Return to the Settings menu and choose General.

Select Device Management from the General menu then tap to select your Apple ID.

Press the Trust "youremail@address.com" button and choose Trust from the alert that appears.

Step Ten
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to bring up Control Center and tap to place your iPhone into Airplane mode.

Step Eleven
Hold down the Power button and swipe the slider to power off your iPhone. After a few seconds press the Power button to restart your device.

Step Twelve
Ensure you are in Airplane mode then launch the new Electra app on your SpringBoard.

Step Thirteen
Tap the Jailbreak button to begin the jailbreak process. If you don't want any pre-installed tweaks you may want to turn off the Tweaks toggle.

Step Fourteen
Your iPhone will now reboot. Once it's finished, reopen the Electra app and tap the Jailbreak button again.

An alert will pop up letting you know an APFS Snapshot has been created. Click the Continue Jailbreak button.

Electra will now install Cydia and inform you that OpenSSH is now running. Click the Exitbutton to complete your jailbreak!

How To Jailbreak iOS 9.3.3 Using Safari [No Computer Required]

You simply have to love and admire the enthusiasm and excitement that exists within the jailbreak community. Regardless of how long we seem to go without any type of jailbreak solution being made available, the community still stands strong and not only retains its passion for the cause, but also immediately bursts into life when a new jailbreak tool is announced.

Following on from the surprise release of the PP/Pangu jailbreak for iOS 9.3.3, the jailbreak has now been officially released in an easy-to-use form so that it can be installed using Safari browser right on the device itself without having to use any computer. It kind of works similar to Comex’s JailbreakMe hack back in the day.

Since this too is based on PP’s/Pangu’s jailbreak, it works on the same devices as PP and Pangu Team’s own desktop tools for Windows and Mac, which is essentially all 64-bit Apple devices capable of running iOS 9.3.3-9.2 firmwares. This Safari-based jailbreak method though is currently available for Chinese PP jailbreak app only. Here’s how to go about using it to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device without having to use any computer whatsoever.

Step 1: We recommend updating your device to iOS 9.3.3 first. You can get iOS 9.3.3 from here Download iOS 9.3.3 IPSW For iPhone And iPad [Final Version]. Make a full backup using iTunes or iCloud as well. Also remove any passcode/Touch ID, as well as disable Find My iPhone from your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device before proceeding with the jailbreak.

Step 2: Paste this URL in Safari web browser on the device: j.25pp.com/ota_tutorial.html and then tap on Open button.

Step 3: Now tap on Install button from the resultant prompt.

You will notice that PP app will start installing on your device. It will first say Loading on the app icon, and then it will change to Installing. As soon as it changes to Installing, bring Control Center up and turn on the Airplane mode, then wait for it to install PP app on your device.

Step 4: Once PP app is downloaded and installed, and the app icon appears on the Home screen of your device, first turn off the Airplane mode from Control Center, then head to Settings > General > Device Management and Trust the certificate as shown in the screenshot below.

This certificate should last you one year!

Step 5: When downloaded, installed, with certificate trusted, you should have PP jailbreak app icon on the Home screen ready for launch. Simply launch it and you’ll get a prompt that looks like this. Accept this prompt for push notifications.

Step 6: Uncheck the PP checkbox (if available), then tap on the big circle in the center, and once the process starts, hit the sleep/power button to manually lock your device while still being in the PP app.

Step 7: You will soon get a notification on the Lock screen confirming your device has been successfully jailbroken, followed by a quick automatic respring. Once the device comes back to Lock screen from respring, unlock the device and you should now have Cydia installed on your device.

It’s important to note that this jailbreak is semi-untethered/tethered, which means that device owners will need to re-run PP app on the device to reinitiate the jailbreak each time a device is rebooted. So, you have jailbroken your iPhone on iOS 9.3.3 using Pangu / PP, but after reboot, you find Cydia, jailbreak tweaks and apps crashing or not working? This is because Pangu’s latest jailbreak tool is semi-untethered/tethered, which means you will have to put your device in jailbroken state every time the device is rebooted.

It is important to note that you will have to do this only when the device is fully rebooted. You don’t have to do this when the device is respring-ed.

This so called re-jailbreaking (or booting into jailbroken state) process also doesn’t involve doing the whole jailbreak thing again from scratch using a computer. We explain how exactly it all works after a jailbroken device is rebooted in step by step instructions below.

Step 1: So, after your jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch device is rebooted, locate the PP app on your device’s Home screen and launch it. Now it’s important to note that you might have two different PP apps on the device, each with a different looking app icon.

You need to launch the one whose app icon looks like the one shown in the screenshot below.

Step 2: Accept the prompt for push notifications.

Step 3: Tap the big circle in the center, and once it starts some process, manually lock your device by pressing the sleep/power button while still being in the app.

Step 4: After a short while, you will receive a push notification on the lock screen (don’t act on it!), right after which it will respring automatically.

Step 5: Once the device comes back on the lock screen, simply unlock it and you will be right back into the Home screen.

Step 6. That’s it. You are done. You should now be able to run Cydia and all the jailbreak tweaks and apps again should start working again.

Out of nowhere, the latest Pangu jailbreak tool for iOS 9.3.3, 9.3.2 and below firmwares is here for compatible 64-bit iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, but there’s a small caveat for the time being; it’s only being offered with support on Windows PCs. Under normal circumstances that would mean that owners of an Apple iMac or MacBook wouldn’t be able to use the tool to perform a jailbreak on a compatible device. Thankfully, these aren’t normal circumstances, and we have a handy guide that lets Mac owners use the new Pangu tool to jailbreak their device. Simply follow the step by step instructions below to liberate your device on iOS 9.3.3 on a Mac in no time.

How to jailbreak iOS 9.3.3 using Pangu on Mac OS X – Method 1:

Step 1: First and foremost, you’re going to need to head over to the Parallels site attrial.parallels.com and download the latest Parallels 11 software for Mac. Don’t worry, this is trial version of the virtualization software for your Mac, and is available free-of-charge to be used for a period of 14-days. That’s plenty enough time to get up and running with this jailbreak.

Step 2: Yes, you guessed it, another download of a free trial. Having Parallels 11 is one thing, but you will need an executable version of Windows 10 for the software to virtualize. You can download a free trial copy of Windows 10 directly from Microsoft without a product key, which offers a 90-day trial and will be downloaded as an ISO file that can be used to install Windows 10 in the virtual machine environment that Parallels 11 provides. Step 3: Install the Parallels 11 software just like you would with any other Mac application that has been downloaded from a third-party source. When the package has been installed, launch the software and walk through the relatively simple setup process. Step 4: On the next screen, select the Image File option from the middle of the interface. This is the option required to install Windows 10 via the previously downloaded ISO file. Select the ISO file into the interface, which will then update the interface on the Parallels 11 window to show exactly what is going to be installed on the virtual machine. Click Continue and progress through the relevant configuration steps.

Step 5: Parallels 11 will now go through the required steps to install Windows 10 onto a virtual machine on the Mac.

Step 6: When the installation process has been complete, you will then need to install Apple’s iTunes on the newly installed virtual machine. Head over to apple.com/itunes to grab the necessary download files and install it.

How to jailbreak iOS 9.3.3 using Pangu on Mac OS X – Method 2:

There’s a second method too to jailbreak iOS 9.3.3 using a Mac. This basically involves downloading the PP jailbreak .ipa file, signing it using iOS App Signer utility, and then sideloading it using Xcode. You can download PP’s .ipa file from here, and then follow the instructions on how to sideload an app using Xcode here.

Once the app has been sideloaded, run the PP app, tap on the big circle in the center and then wait for it to install Cydia. Hit the sleep/power button to manually lock your device. You will soon get a notification saying on the lock screen that your device has been successfully jailbroken. Now unlock the device and you’ll be in PP app again. It will start preparing environment for Cydia. Once done, the device will reboot automatically and you will have Cydia installed on your now jailbroken device.

As you are probably more than aware by now, a working jailbreak for iOS 9.3.3 to 9.2 firmwares is finally here. China-based Pangu Team literally made the announcement and released the tool out of nowhere, much to the delight of those 64-bit device owners looking to liberate their hardware from Apple’s walled garden to install Cydia and jailbreak tweaks on it. The tool is currently only available for Windows machines, compatible with 64-bit iOS devices, and is of semi-untethered/tethered variety (more on that is detailed below), and here we’re going to take a step-by-step approach to showing you exactly how to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch using it. Ready? Here we go.

Instructions:

Before we begin, it’s important to note that the instructions below are for Chinese version of the jailbreak as the English version of the tool is not out yet but is expected to drop very soon. We will update the post once the English version is out.

Step 1: Connect your iOS device to your computer.

Step 2: Once you have downloaded the jailbreak tool from the link given above, launch it as administrator on Windows by right clicking on the file and then clicking on Run as administrator.

Step 3: Now click on the button which has some Chinese text on it. This will install PP Helper 5.0.

Step 4: You should now have PP Helper 5.0 shortcut on the desktop. Right click on it and then click on Run as administrator. Once it’s launched, click the big green button with some Chinese text on it to begin the jailbreak process.

Step 5: After a short while, you will get a captcha screen on the tool. Enter the catcha letters and wait for at least a couple of minutes as the tool will now start installing a profile on your device. The tool at this point may also require you to enter your Apple ID and password. While Pangu says it doesnt store any of this information and simply uses your Apple ID and password to sign the PP app it’s going to install on your device for jailbreaking, we still recommend signing up for a spare Apple ID from appleid.apple.com and using that in this step rather than your main Apple ID.

Step 6: An app called PP will start installing on your device now. Once installed, in order to run it, you need to first head to Settings > General > Device Management (on iOS 9.3.3) or Settings > General > Profile (on iOS 9.3.2 and below) and then trust the developer.

Step 7: Once done, open this PP app and accept the prompt for push notifications.

Step 8: Now tap on the big circle in the center, and wait for PP app to install Cydia. Hit the sleep/power button to manually lock your device. You will soon get a notification in Chinese saying that your device has been successfully jailbroken.

Step 9: At this point, simply unlock the device and you’ll be in PP. It will start preparing environment for Cydia. Once done, the device will reboot automatically and you should have Cydia installed on your now jailbroken device.

As mentioned earlier, this is a semi-untethered/tethered jailbreak which means every time the device reboots, you will have to re-jailbreak of sorts to get the device back into jailbroken state. Fortunately, this doesn’t mean you need to go through the whole process through your computer again. You don’t have to reinstall the jailbreak tweaks, settings or Cydia either. All you need to do after every reboot is to run the PP app from the home screen on your device and tap that large circle button to get back into jailbroken state again within no time.

And there you have it. Out of the blue, literally form nowhere, a working and very simple way to jailbreak compatible iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 9.3.3 to iOS 9.2.

iPhone 7 Release Date Reportedly Set For The Week Of September 12

We’ve had more iPhone 7 leaks than we can care to remember over the last seven months, and now we have what could be the possible release window for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

We’ve had multiple instances of visuals leaking online purporting to show the rear shell for Apple’s new device. We’ve had videos that have come into the public domain via Chinese social networks claiming to show the iPhone 7 side-by-side with the iPhone 6s. We’ve even had the pleasure of seeing “official” schematics and blueprints of the device.

Taking to Twitter, Evan Blass has stated via his popular @evleaks account that Apple’s “iPhone 2016 release” will happen during the week of September 12th. Given that Tim Cook and his team of executives generally prefer to release new hardware on a Friday, that would mean that we could potentially be in line for a Friday September 16th, 2016 release.

Blass doesn’t provide any additional information on his source for this information, but he has proven himself to be an extremely credible source of information in the past. Not perfect, but very credible.

If that date is accurate, then it means Apple would be holding a dedicated iPhone 7/7 Plus media event a week or a week and a half earlier than the release date, which would likely result in press contacts and privileged members of the media being invited to attend the conference sometime in early September.

Until that official invitation drops into the mailboxes of the media elite, then we will of course have to take any suggestion with a grain of salt. An educated grain of salt that could definitely be accurate, but a grain of salt nonetheless. As they say, it isn’t official until it’s actually official.

At that media event, we are expecting to welcome at least two new iPhone models which are likely to be similar in terms of overall design and dimensions to the existing iPhone 6s/6s Plus range except for the redesigned antenna lines, and some other internal changes. The smaller 4.7-inch iPhone is expected to come with an improved and larger camera lens that will noticeably be larger. The 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will contain a pill-shaped aperture on the rear of the device charged with housing the new dual-lens camera. Both models are expected ship without the inclusion of the iconic 3.5mm headphone port that’s been a staple part of all iPhones from 2007.

Download & Install Pokemon Go For iOS / Android In Any Region Right Now, Here’s How

Pokemon Go is absolutely everywhere right now. You can’t open Twitter, Facebook or any other social networking app without being bombarded by people talking about the game. Reddit is full of posts on the subject, and the chances are you already know someone who is playing it even if you aren’t. Although that very much depends on where you live.

The reason for that is simple. Nintendo and Niantic took the decision to release Pokemon Go in the United States and some other countries initially. That means that anyone in the UK or one of the European countries for example, is unable to play Pokemon Go even if it feels like everyone else already is. That’s a shame, because from what we’re hearing, it’s actually really rather good.

But fear not, intrepid Pokemon collector, for we have a solution. As they say, where there’s a will, there’s a way, and that has never been more true than when a gamer needs to find a way to get a game they shouldn’t have access to.

As it turns out, getting your hands on Pokemon Go when you are outside the US isn’t all that difficult no matter whether you are using an iPhone or an Android device. Both the App Store and Google Play Store offer Pokemon GO in the US store, and that’s exactly what we’re going to show you how to access. Here goes.

Android

With Android, you can always grab a game’s APK off of the web, though that isn’t always the most secure option, especially with games that are as popular as Pokemon Go. Sideloading the game would also mean that it won’t be able to receive automatic updates from the Play Store. If you have these same concerns, here’s what you need to do.

Step 1: On your Android device of choice head on over to settings, then the accounts menu and select the option to add a new Google account.

Step 2: Sign up with a Google Gmail address. It doesn’t matter which so long as it’s not your main account. It will only be used to access the US-based Google Play Store.

Step 3: Follow the process to add the account to your device. It’s all fairly simple.

Step 4: Visit wallet.google.com/manage/w/0/#settings for the same account. You might want to do this part on a computer for ease of use. Here, you will be prompted to select a country – choose the US, obviously – and enter a zip code of your choice. At this point, you can also add a payment method if you so desire. You don’t have to, though.

Step 5: Back on your device, download and install a VPN app. There are lots and lots to choose from on the Play Store, so find one that’s free. You’re only going to use it for a few minutes. Just make sure it has a server in the US that you can connect to.

Step 6: Connect to the US VPN.

Step 7: Open up the Play Store on your device, and switch to the new account that you created a few minutes ago.

Step 8: Search for, and then install Pokemon Go. That’s kind of what we’re here for.

Step 9: Disconnect from your VPN. You don’t need it anymore. Switch back to your main Google account on Play Store as well.

Step 10: Lose the next few months of your life to catching Pokemon.

iOS

The process for downloading Pokemon Go on iOS is very similar in that you need to create a US-based iTunes account and then connect to the US App Store. It’s not rocket science, so just be sure to follow the steps and you’ll be playing Pokemon Go before you know it.

How To Install Cydia Alternative Zestia On iOS Without Jailbreak

If you have been a part of the iOS jailbreak scene for any length of time, then you will already be acutely aware that jailbreaking has its issues even before you take into account any potential security concerns. Apple is constantly finding ways of stopping jailbreaking from even being possible depending on the hardware and version of iOS that you are using on your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, and that’s no fun when you are faced with an update that needs to be installed. It’s just no way to live. There are, however, ways to get a bit of the jailbreak and Cydia experience without having to go through all of the hoop-jumping that can sometimes be required in order to get a full jailbreak, and Zestia is one of those ways.

While not quite the same as real jailbreaking, Zestia (previously known as X-Cydia) are perhaps a better alternative to stock iOS for some, and while it’s true that limitations are likely to be in place depending on what it is you’re looking for, this may be worth checking out if you want to jailbreak but for whatever reason, can’t. We’re going to run through the steps you need to take – none of them are difficult – and leave it up to you as to whether this is something you want to give a whirl.

Here’s how things need to go down.

Step 1: Using Safari, visit zestia.lmdinteractive.com on your iOS device and tap Install Zestia.

As seen in the screenshot below.

Step 2: Tap Install on the Profile page and enter your PIN if requested.

Step 3: Hit Install a couple more times and finally, Done.

Step 4: Press the Home button and you will find a new Zestia icon on your Home screen. Tap that.

Step 5: Once in Zestia, choose the app you want to install and follow the procedure through to completion. It’s self explanatory and not at all dissimilar to using the App Store.

Step 6: Launch the Settings app, then tap General > Profile, and finally tap the name of the app you just installed.

Step 7: Tap the Trust option and then tap Trust again on the modal box that appears afterwards.

Step 8: Launch your newly downloaded app!

While not strictly Cydia, Zestia – like Mojo and others before it – will offer you apps that would never see the light of day in the App Store, so that may be enough to whet your appetite. Apple Will Ditch 16GB Entry-Level Storage Option In Favor Of 32GB With iPhone 7, Reports WSJ

Just as had been suspected, hoped, rumored and reported a number of times in the past, it seems that the iPhone 7 indeed will see Apple ditch 16GB as the entry-level storage option in favor of a 32GB solution, if the latest report from the Wall Street Journal is anything to go by.

In a piece in which the reasons for why buying an iPhone right now is a bad idea are discussed, the WSJ “confirmed” that those looking to pick up the least expensive iPhone 7 will receive 32GB of storage rather than the anaemic 16GB that has been on offer for many, many years now.

As iOS itself and the apps that run on it have grown over time, the use of 16GB iPhones has become more and more difficult, especially if you try to install games, or try to record any video in 4K quality using the newer 6s series of iPhones.

The jump to 32GB is one that many have requested of Apple of late, and the iPhone 7 (as well as iPhone 7 Plus for that matter) looks like it may be the first handset from the Cupertino-based company that gets that increase. There will of course be other models available with more storage capacity options as well, should users wish to have a little more breathing room.

The new iPhones are expected to have more storage for those photos. Instead of 16GB as a starting point for the entry-level iPhone, the new starting point will be 32GB, according to a person familiar with Apple’s iPhone plans. Hallelujah! I’ve long said that keeping the 16GB iPhone was just a ploy for Apple to get people to buy the 64GB model—for $100 extra.

Apple is not expected to buck its own trend and allow removable media to be used with the next iPhone, so as ever, buying the right one is key. As many have found out over the years, it’s easy to chew through storage on an iPhone once you start recording in 4K video and shooting photos of the family. Our recommendation? Work out how much storage you think you need and then buy the next model up.

Leaked iPhone 7 Shell Has No Headphone Jack, Dual Speakers [Photos]

An alleged iPhone 7 shell has leaked online with no headphone jack and dual speakers for stereo audio.

Spotted by the Nowhereelse.fr, the shell is apparently one of two prototype designs for the iPhone 7 with the other having just one speaker and no headphone jack.

Additionally, the rear shell once again reveals a larger opening for the camera, corroborating rumors that Apple will beimproving the camera on the next generation 4.7-inch iPhone.

It's widely expected that Apple will introduce a dual lens camera for the 5.5-inch iPhone; however, it's unclear if the company will unveil both an iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 7 Pro.

Finally, the leaked shell once again shows us a new simplified antenna band design.

Installing iOS 10 Seems To Be Giving Users Extra Storage

With iOS 10 now available for installation by developers in its initial beta form, those who have done just that have spent the last few days poking around the operating system to see what they can find. While hidden features or simply additional features that Apple didn’t get around to mentioning are often discovered, one Redditor appears to have discovered that iOS 10 leaves devices with more accessible storage than previous iOS releases.

In one example, a 128GB iPhone went from having around 113GB of available storage with iOS 9.x.x installed, to a massive 122GB when rocking iOS 10 beta 1.

With an increase of around 8%, iPhones and iPads with larger capacities obviously receive a bigger storage bump than those with smaller capacities. That said, the anaemic 16GB devices currently on sale will gain just under a gigabyte of available storage if an 8% increase is accurate. Free storage is not to be sniffed at, no matter how much there is!

The real reasons behind this sudden increase in storage are unknown, but there are three potential reasons – all are shots in the dark at this point, though at least one of them is very unlikely, indeed. We’ll see if you can guess which it is.

It’s perhaps more unlikely than not, but the increase in available storage could just be down to the fact that iOS 10 takes less storage space compared to iOS 9. It’s certainly possible.

It’s also possible that iOS has altered the way it calculates capacity, moving from a 1024 to 1000-based counting system. 113.46 GB is equivalent to 121.83 GB if you switch systems, for example.

The least likely possibility is that the Apple File System (APFS) for iOS, macOS, tvOS and watchOS has been implemented in this first beta release of iOS 10. I doubt it at this stage, especially given the filesystem’s infancy, limitations, and fact it isn’t due to ship until next year.

List Of macOS Sierra 10.12 Compatible Macs

If you’ve been literally stuck to the Internet today to make sure that you don’t miss a single thing to come out of Apple’s opening keynote during this year’s WWDC, then you’ll no doubt already be aware about macOS Sierra. No, that’s not yet another Apple software platform to power a new wave of devices, but rather a reimagining of OS X to bring it more in line with the company’s other platforms. Many Mac owners will be looking forward to embracing that update come the fall, but it appears that not all Macs in operation will be able to get in on the macOS action.

As we already know, Apple continually tries its hardest to make sure that as many devices as possible are supported when never firmware drops. It really doesn’t matter whether it’s iOS or macOS, Apple genuinely seems to want to try and bring the new features and improvements owners of old and new.

With that in mind, sometimes the hardware requirements necessary to operate the software efficiently sadly rules out certain pieces of kit, which is exactly the case now as Apple has had to rule out Macs that were manufactured from the year 2007-2009.

If you are a Mac owner, and you are looking forward to getting to grips with macOS Sierra, and you most definitely did love the new features that were introduced, then if you have one of the following Mac machines you will be golden come September this year.

Or, if that doesn’t cut it, bite the bullet and invest in a brand new Mac computer that is not only capable of installing macOS Sierra, but if you actually wait to make that investment, may be one of the first new breeds of Mac to actually ship with it pre-installed.

New In iOS 10: You Can Delete Stock Apple Apps, Download Them At Will From App Store

In the midst of all of the Apple WWDC madness and excitement you can be forgiven for getting caught up in all of the major announcements and missing some of the smaller changes that Tim Cook and team didn’t touch on for one reason or another. As the keynote was happening, and as a slew of Apple’s executive team were introducing and demoing key new features within iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS, the company engineers were secretly uploading a number of apps to the App Store against Apple’s own developer account.

Curiously, all of those apps are ones that generally come pre-installed as stock apps on iOS out of the box.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist with a first class honours degree in rocket science studies to work out what’s going on here. The fact that a number of pre-installed apps are now hosted on Apple’s App Store page is interesting enough. But it’s the fact that the App Store actually recognizes that they are installed on a device that really puts the icing on the cake.

As part of the run up to WWDC and the iOS 10 speculation, we had heard a little rumor suggesting that users would eventually be able to delete stock Apple apps from the device. We just didn’t know how that implementation would work. We know how it works on.

They will then be able to be downloaded again from the App Store at the user’s discretion should they see fit. This is particularly useful for those people who get a new iPhone and iPad, create a folder called “Apple”, “Junk”, or something similar, and then simply relegate the stock apps that they don’t use to that folder never to be seen again.

The self-contained nature of the apps will also more than likely mean that Apple will have the ability to update individual apps as and when it deems it necessary rather than having to push out a full iOS update if a change to an app is needed.

tvOS 10 For Apple TV Announced: Features, Release Date [Everything You Need To Know]

Apple has finally announced the arrival of tvOS 10 along with the various features it will pack for the Apple TV 4. Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference opening keynote is generally used to introduce the latest version of iOS and the desktop OS for Mac, but this year is a little different with the Apple TV 4 having landed onto the scene late last year. The Apple TV 4 has gained some serious traction amongst consumers all over the globe, with the underlying App Store playing a huge part in that popularity.

Keeping up with the increasing number of unit adoptions, Apple has officially introduced tvOS 10 as part of the initial WWDC announcements in what looks like Apple’s fastest evolving OS to date.

We’ve already seen tvOS 9 evolve into a much matured platform than what it set out as in the beginning, so now that the first major update for the OS has been unveiled, let’s jump directly into what Apple has actually announced with tvOS 10, and how it will improve the user-experience for those who are just starting to embrace the Apple TV as part of their tech stack.

-New Apple TV Remote App With Siri

This one literally replicates the Siri Remote on your iPhone and uses, voice for Siri control, touch for navigation, and you guessed it, even motion controls to play games. Sweet!

-Siri

Speaking of Siri, the digital assistant on the Apple TV has gotten a massive upgrade. Saying things like “Find high school comedies from the ’80s”, will now show you results based on that particular query. Incredibly, it can also search through YouTube for you.

-Live Tune-In

What’s TV if it’s not live. Using Siri to say for example, ” Watch ESPN2″ will simply launch the action right on your TV. Interestingly, Apple says the feature will also be available on the iPad.

-Single sign-on

Users will now be able to log in once and access all streaming apps from your TV subscription without having to do that independently for each and every app. Oh and it’s being flowed over to iOS as well. Needless to say, this alone is a huge update in itself.

-Dark Mode

Finally! No more white’s blinding you in the middle of the night thanks to a much needed Dark Mode which throws in the good ol’ dark grays and blacks.

-Automatic downloads

Download an app on your iPhone and it will appear on the Apple TV as well. Simple, not ground breaking either, but glad to see attention being paid to such things.

-HomeKit Support

Your Apple TV can now issue commands via Siri to control all smart devices in your home that are HomeKit compatible. So you can now turn of the lights, adjust the temperature and much more, from the comfort of your couch, or well, if you’re in the room.

-Revamped Photos and Apple Music

Apple Music app carries an all-new design, making sure that the user never feels lost, including the addition of a new Search tab.

The Photos app now sports a Memories feature which makes it easy to “rediscover meaningful moments in a user’s photo library and share them on the big screen.”

-Keyboard improvements

While you could use the iOS keyboard on your iPhone or iPad to enter text easily on the Apple TV, tvOS 10 now prompts the iOS keyboard to appear on your iPhone or iPad whenever the keyboard appears on the Apple TV. Of course this assumes your iOS device and Apple TV our signed in with the same Apple ID.

-New Apps

Arriving in the coming weeks will be some new apps new including Sling, Fox Sports Go, and Molotov which offers over 100 live TV stations.

-New tvOS APIs and tools

With ReplayKit developers will be able to add recording and live broadcasting features into their apps. PhotoKit meanwhile will allow for third-party apps to access photos and videos stored in the Photo Library and iCloud Shared Stream.

There is also support for badges just like iOS so that users can be alerted that an app needs their attention, and gaming is also set to be enhanced with support for up to four game controllers on one Apple TV, as well as Game Center enhancements.

Release Date

The initial developer facing pre-release beta 1 of tvOS 10 is available to download and install today. Developers can access this through the usual developer.apple.com website, provided they are registered and enrolled members for the Apple Developer Program.

The first public facing version – or the final build – of the platform will make its way into circulation this coming fall, alongside the release of iOS 10 and macOS Sierra 10.12.

iOS 10 Beta Compatibility For iPhone, iPad, iPod touch

After a number of months of speculation and conjecture, Apple has finally used the opening keynote of WWDC 2016 to provide the world with its first glimpse of the next major iteration of iOS – the iOS 10. As is historically been the case, the run up to this year’s WWDC conference has included a number of discussions about not only the new features and integrations to be offered with iOS 10, but also the devices and hardware that it will support.

Apple generally tends to want to get as many consumers as possible in on the latest firmware action, meaning that the company does its very best to support as many devices as possible, both old and new. Once again, as we saw with iOS 9, it looks as though it won’t disappoint.

In an ideal world, every new major release of iOS would simply install and run perfectly on all Apple devices that are still in use. That would ideally include all iPhones, iPads and iPod touch devices still in circulation and used on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, that is a pipe dream that doesn’t really have a basis in reality, with many older devices simply not being equipped with the hardware and processing power needed to run feature intensive software platforms efficiently. To that end, it looks as though Apple has had to drop support for the 4-inch iPhone 4s, the device which was released back in 2011.

Still, even with support for iPhone 4s being dropped, the list of compatible devices that will be supported by iOS 10 is still fairly comprehensive. Here’s a complete list of all the iOS 10 compatible devices:

iOS 10 Announced: Features, Release Date And More

If you’re an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch owner who has been waiting eagerly for WWDC 2016 announcements, then you will be glad to learn that Apple has officially announced and provided us with the first glance of iOS 10. Apple’s annual developer conference has become almost as much about what gets announced during the opening keynote as it is about the actual workshops and engineer sessions that are offered to developers throughout the WWDC week.

As expected, Tim Cook and his executive team team have stood tall at the front of the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium to provide us with our first look into iOS 10.

Apple’s next major release of iOS has been heavily speculated about over the last few months. There’s been plenty of Internet chatter about whether or not Apple would look to entirely reinvent the platform with a slew of new major updates and features, or whether or not it would go down the route of solidifying and stabilizing the platform ahead of an iPhone 7 launch later this year.

Features

–Redesigned Lock Screen

iOS 10 has redesigned the Lock screen, giving it a clear background even when notifications are in view, a search bar at the top and a host of info, including notifications, appointments, Map suggestions and Siri App Suggestions, presented in neat cards with rounded corners.

-Interactive Notifications

Fans of the Quick Reply feature are bound to love this one. iOS 10 introduces interactive notifications to the platform, allowing users to view media or respond to messages with full view of the thread, right from the notification view.

–3D Touch-Powered Interactive Widgets

With iOS 10, certain apps are getting the capability to display an interactive widget of info with a 3D Touch-powered hard-press. These include Stocks, Weather and Calendar.

-Messages Updates

The new and improved Messages app in iOS 10 promises more expressive conversations with your friends and family with the addition of stickers, message bubble animations, full-screen effects like balloons flying across the screen or confetti dropping down from the top, and animated handwritten notes.

Users can now view or play shared content such as web links or music right within the Messages app and easily insert hard-to-find emoji through the use of automatic suggestions, which can replace a word of choice with the appropriate emoticon. A fun new feature called Tapback allows you to respond to a message much like Facebook allows you to react to posts.

On top of all that, Messages is being opened to developers. The app now houses an “app drawer” of its own that will allow users to quickly jump to the App Store to download “iMessage apps” and then use them to do all manner of things from customizing GIFs to sending payments to a friend.

–Maps Redesign And Extensions

Since its disappointing debut years ago, the stock Maps app in iOS has seldom been deemed a viable alternative to the likes of Google Maps. It has taken a couple major iterations, but it seems Apple is finally gearing up to fix the problem. Not only has Maps been given a fresh coat of paint, it can now provide proactive suggestions for places you are likely to visit from your current location, and the ability to search for places of interest, even while receiving turn-by-turn directions.

The most significant change here, however, is the app’s ability to integrate with third-party extensions, allowing users to make reservations at restaurants, book Uber rides and pay for it all through Apple Pay without ever having to leave the app.

-Apple Music Revamp

If you’re an Apple Music subscriber, allowing Apple to handle all of your music streaming needs across multiple devices, then iOS 10 will definitely appeal to you. iOS 10 still continues to promote Apple Music as a perfect streaming option through the native Music app, but Apple has seen fit to make some changes that will hopefully improve the overall experience.

First of all, there’s been a redesign of certain views within Apple Music to try and allow users to more easily find and discover new content. The app opens to the Library section, there’s now a separate Search tab, and the For You page puts additional emphasis on album artwork to bring your music collection to life.

Moreover, it seems that after trying to push the ability to “connect” with artists when Apple Music was initially unveiled, the company has conceded that it just hasn’t been executed correctly and doesn’t really warrant a section of its own. To that end, as was expected, Connect will no longer command its own tab bar item in the main interface, and will instead form part of the For Youexperience within iOS 10.

The Radio and Now Playing screens too have been refreshed, with the latter sporting a card-based UI and, as per pre-WWDC rumors, support for song lyrics.

-Siri Improvements And SiriKit

Improvements to Siri have been a long time coming. A number of high-profile companies have shown their hands recently by investing in, and making significant improvements to digital assistants and products that have that assistant at the forefront of the experience. Apple was in danger of being left behind if Siri didn’t improve.

Well, with iOS 10, Siri most definitely improves and becomes a lot smarter than it currently is thanks to the new SiriKit SDK that opens the assistant to third-party developers for integration into App Store apps – a whole new world of possibilities ranging from using Siri for booking trips and handling payments to controlling CarPlay apps while on the road.

In addition, the digital assistant has been upgraded with new QuickType capabilities that will allow it to offer contextual predictions and info within the stock keyboard.

-Photos App Improvements And New Memories Feature

iOS 10 adds an entirely new section called Memories within the Photos app, which is meant to help you reminisce about good times with friends and family ala Facebook’s On this Day offering. The tab intelligently collects photos from a trip, a get-together, or based on the people in your albums, and automatically sorts them into a collection called a Memory, which also contains the Memory Movie – a auto-generated video that contains all shots and clips from the collection punctuated by customizable titles, transitions and background music.

All of this is going to be made possible through “facial, object and scene recognition” built into iOS 10. The same capability will also allow you to search for photos by the people or objects within them.

-Apple Pay Updates

While the Apple Pay team is continuing to push the payment platform into different markets around the world as part of growing partnership with financial institutions, Apple’s engineers are developing the platform from a functionality perspective.

iOS 10 introduces the ability to use Apple Pay to pay for goods and services through supporting websites online.

Additionally, as mentioned earlier, through the use of Maps extensions and iMessage apps, users should be able to employ Apple Pay for peer-to-peer payments. Rather than having to find additional ways to pay a contact, business or service some money, iOS 10 users will be able to send cash through Apple Pay directly to them, right from within Maps or Messages.

-New Home App For HomeKit

Apple has finally seen fit to introduced a simple but highly powerful app for HomeKit called Homeinto iOS 10. Rather than having to use multiple third-party apps to control different aspects of the connected home, Apple now allow users to invoke the power of the new app to interact with and control all HomeKit-compatible hardware, either individually or in custom groups, through one powerful interface.

–New Raise To Wake Feature

iOS 10 comes with a new Raise to wake feature that instantly turns on your iPhone’s screen as you pick it up, offering you a quick look at your Lock screen and any notifications you might have waiting for you.

–Other Features And Improvements

The News app has also received a redesign with a new For You section, the purpose of which is similar to the tab by the same name in the Music app.

Safari now supports split-view on iPad, Notes now features a collaboration option and Live Photos have finally been afforded some editing features.

The stock keyboard in iOS 10 lets you type in multiple languages without having to switch keyboards.

The Clock app now has a new Bedtime Alarm feature that allows you to set a “sleep schedule” and have the app remind you when it’s time for bed.

iOS 10 will be using a new Differential Privacy technology to collect usage data and offer better QuickType and emoji suggestions within the stock keyboard from “a large number of users without compromising individual privacy.”

macOS Sierra 10.12 Announced: Features, Release Date And More

If you’re a proud owner of an iMac, Mac mini, Mac Pro or one of Apple’s many MacBook models, and you feel like you need a little bit of a change and some new features to interact and play with, then you’ll be pleased to know that Apple has officially unveiled the next-generation version of its desktop OS dubbed Sierra 10.12, or as we now call it, macOS Sierra 10.12, at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2016) event.

The announcement does not entirely come as a surprise considering the speculations and rumors we’ve been privy to as we got closer to Apple’s developer-centric event. It is now that we see how much of that has actually substantiated into the real deal.

As always, we’re going to dive right in and take a deep look at what’s been announced, including all of the new features and the expected release date of the new desktop OS. So, without any further delay, here’s everything you need to know about Apple’s macOS Sierra 10.12.

Features

-Siri

As expected, and rightfully so, Siri has finally landed on the Mac. The digital assistant now finds itself a home in the dock. Clicking the icon will launch the assistant with it appearing in the top right of the menu bar. Of course it carries the usual wits Siri is famous for, and along with that can also help you show files in Finder, as well as send Messages.

Many Mac owners who regularly use an iPhone or iPad will probably feel that this one was long overdue. Siri for Mac will function in much the same manner as it does on Apple’s mobile devices. Users will be able to speak directly to the Mac once it has been primed for voice guidance, and get instant access to an earth of information and answers to a whole heap of questions. Find local restaurants and business, find out the scores from recent sports event or even historical stats, and so on.

The evolution of Siri as a platform will also see a Siri SDK introduced to third-party developers as Apple announces that is opening up the digital assistant to developers. This means that developers will be able to enhance their own app experiences by bringing Siri into the equation.

-Auto Unlock

No need to enter that password that keeps your desktop safe from prying eyes. If you have an Apple Watch and our wearing it when accessing your Mac, macOS Sierra 10.12 is smart enough to verify your identity by communicating with the Apple Watch, and remove the need to enter a password.

-Universal Clipboard

It’s still a clipboard, but one that is accessible on a Mac as well as an iPhone, thus making it much easier to pick up information from different devices. This means users will be able to ‘copy/paste’ works from say, a Mac to an iPhone or vice versa.

-Desktop synchronization

Why limit synchronization to files on the cloud? Apple probably asked themselves this question when allowing macOS Sierra 10.12 to sync entire desktops across other Macs, and even the iPhone with all your files exactly where they are. “You simply save your files on your Desktop or within your Documents folder as you usually do and you will have them everywhere you need them. You can access your files on your iPhone and iPad in the iCloud Drive® app and on iCloud.com or the iCloud for Windows app.” So when you log in from another Mac or iOS device, you will find the files exactly where you put them.

-Photos app

The Photos app has been updated with a new Memories feature which brings up old pictures that you’ve not seen for a while by automatically curating pictures from various occasions. Photos can be organized by People and Places thanks to the smart tech now added to the Photos app. More so, the app also gets a new Brilliance touch-up feature to really help those photos pop-out.

-Apple Pay

Safari will now allow users to make payments through the browser via Apple Pay. When making a payment, users will be prompted on their iPhone or Apple Watch to authenticate the action using Touch ID or a tap on the Apple Watch.

-Picture in Picture (Pip)

With PiP being pretty popular on the iPad, it’s only fair that the larger screened Macs got invited to the party. Users can now watch a video on the web while continuing to work on something else on their Mac.

-Updates Messages app

You can now send large emojis, and also play video and preview links directly in the conversaation.

-All new Apple Music

The Apple Music app gets a major redesign making it much easier to browse and discover new music. “The new Browse section lets everyone see the best of what’s available on Apple Music, from exclusives and new releases to playlists and top charts.” There’s also the added ability to view lyrics while playing your music in the revamped MiniPlayer.

-Optimized Storage

“Make room for new files by keeping older ones in the cloud”, says Apple. Should you choose to, macOS Sierra 10.12 now packs the ability to upload files older than a defined period of time to be uploaded to iCloud since you’re not using them. This way, you gain vital space on your Mac, while still having the old file on you at any time.

-Safari-esque tabs in apps

Fair to say no one saw this coming, but apparently users will be able to open up multiple tabs in some apps running on macOS Sierra 10.12. This should be really interesting.

-Performance

As always, the latest introduction of the Mac operating system sees Apple looking to introduce across the board improvements that should provide end-users with an enhanced experience no matter what type of Mac they are accessing macOS Sierra 10.12 on.

Release Date

Much to the delight of developers, the first beta version of macOS 10.12 is available for download and installation today, with a Public Beta expected to drop in somewhere in July. The final version however will be available this coming fall and will be a free upgrade.

Apple has used the opening keynote of this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2016) to officially provide the world with the first glimpse of watchOS 3, the third major iteration of the firmware that powers the Apple Watch wearable. Many current Apple Watch owners, as well as those who have chosen to stay away from the first iteration of the product, were hoping against hope that a second-generation Apple Watch would be introduced at this year’s WWDC.

And while that, as expectedly, hasn’t happened, there’s still good news on the Apple Watch front as owners will now rely on the progression of the underlying software to get new features and improve the overall experience of the current Apple Watch model.

Here we take a deep look at exactly what was announced for watchOS 3 by Apple at WWDC from a features and release date perspective. So, without any further delay, here’s everything you need to know about watchOS 3 for Apple Watch.

Features

-Faster App Launch

The apps will launch much faster compared to watchOS 2, with Apple introducing the ability for watchOS apps to be kept in memory, along with background updates and refreshed information. Apple is calling it Instant Launch, and sounds quite like the iOS experience. Apparently there’s a seven fold increase in launch times now.

–Side button launches Multitasking Dock

Hitting the side button – now referred to as the Dock Button – now launches the dock in place of the the communications screen that user’s have been used to till now. From here, you can switch between live apps easily.

Apple also seems to be allowing third-party apps to appear on the dock, which is not only good to see but a relief.

-Control Center

Quite like iOS, watchOS 3 is brining in a dedicated Control Center to the Apple Watch. Swipe up from the bottom for instant access to switches like Airplane Mode, Do Not Disturb, Silent Mode, etc, and also shows you the battery percentage.

-Scribble Keyboard

With this new way to input text, users can simply scribble or draw letters on the screen to type. Additionally, users can also scribble on the face of the watch.

–New Reply options

watchOS 3 brings in some slightly powerful reply options to messages received onto your wrist, with instant access to the new Scribble option as well.

–New Watch faces

Some new Watch faces are also making their debut with watchOS 3, including a Minnie Mouse Watch face, as well as one called Numerals. Apple has also made an Activity Watch face available which lets you monitor your activity throughout the day, complete with Activity rings, which look pretty cool.

–Switching Watch faces

Apple believes that people are always looking to switch their Watch faces frequently, and as such has now made it very simple for users. Simply swipe on a Watch face to switch to another one.

-Updated Reminders and Find Friends

Apple has completely redesigned Reminders and Find friends for the Apple Watch, making both the apps much more productive on your wrist.

-SOS button

Holding down the Dock Button will instantly dial 911. This is a well-thought out addition to the wearable.

-Workouts launch from Watch face

Users will now be able to launch workouts directly from the Watch face without having to using voice, which wasn’t exactly the fastest and effective method all the time.

-Activity Sharing

Users can now swipe right on the activity rings to see data being shared by friends and family, as well as share their own data with others. Furthermore, users will be able to communicate with those they’re sharing their data with via Messages and some smart replies such as “Like a boss.”, “You’re on fire!” etc.

Other then Messages, there’s the ability to send voice messages, as well as sharing your hear rate.

-Promoting physical activity for wheelchair users

We’ve been used to seeing the “Time to stand!” message reminding us that we’ve been sitting too long. In a similar fashion, watchOS 3 will now alert wheelchair users that they’ve been siting idle too long and that it’s “Time to roll!”

-New Breathe app

Sure, walking and standing up is important, but so is breathing. Apple’s new wrist-mounted app will remind users to take some time out and breathe and relax. Close your eyes and let the haptic feedback guide you with when to breathe in and out in a slightly meditative manner as it shows you the heart rate during that period, and the total time you’ve taken out to breathe and relax.

-Apple Pay in third-party apps

Guess the title says it all. Yes, you can now use Apple Pay on the Apple Watch to pay for services and products in third-party apps.

-New APIs

Support for fitness apps running in the background, real time hear-rate and location data collection, as well as SpriteKite and SceneKit, and more, really makes watchOS 3 a much improved platform from the developers point of view.

Release Date

watchOS 3 beta is available to developers in a pre-release format today. General availability of the final version of watchOS 3 will be available to everyone this fall.

Apple’s annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2016) is well and truly underway now at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco, California. Apple CEO Tim Cook has taken to stage now to kick off the event.
