This new v2.0 software will include numerous improvements to your iPod Touch, namely:

- Full iWork documents support: Pages, Numbers, and , Keynote.
- Microsoft Office support: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Bulk delete & move.
- Ability to save web/e-mail images in your library.
- Parental controls for web.
- Handwriting recognition.

It will be available in early July through iTunes (no exact date was given yet), however it will not be free like previous firmware upgrades. One will need to pay USD $9.99 to download it.

“With WWDC next week and the iTunes App Store on the horizon, developers must be scrambling to get their products out as quickly as possible. No one wants to be left behind when the doors open and happy iPhone users get a first look at what’s available. Jailbreak is the procedure that makes the iPod Touch writable and accessible for third party programs and other modifications.

According to a video posted online (if it’s not a fake — see for yourself below), the iPod Touch was indeed jailbreaked, since the Installer.app iPod Touch third party programs installer is working on what appears to be a v1.1.3 firmware iPod Touch.

Although, the creators of the jailbreak for some reason do not want to release it before Apple makes the Software Development Kit available next month — one theory is it’s since they’re afraid that Apple will relock the device along with the SDK release if the exploit was to be published now… That doesn’t really make much sense, does it?

According to a Greenpeace report iPhone headphones cables appear to have 1.5% level of Phthalates (Wiki) — a toxic substance used in nail polish, caulk, adhesives, or other miscellaneous items that you’d normally not ingest.

But an Apple spokesperson said in response to this matter that “Like all Apple products worldwide, iPhone complies with RoHS [Restriction of Hazardous Substances], the world’s toughest restrictions on toxic substances in electronics. As we have said, Apple will voluntarily eliminate the use of PVC and BFRs by the end of 2008.”

At the same time it’s unknown whether the Apple iPod Touch, which should normally have the same headsets and internal components as the iPhone is suffering from the same problems, since not Greenpeace, nor no one else bothered to test it.
