Rebels Prove Tough Opponents Again

Following the closely fought meeting played out in front of the Sky cameras on Tuesday the Somerset Rebels proved they can be just as difficult to contain when riding away at home last night. Despite losing key reserve Kyle Newman to a suspected broken collarbone in heat two their strong heatleader trio kept them firmly in the meeting. Ipswich twice managed to build up a ten point gap but the Rebels fought back on both occasions and managed to restrict the Witches to a six point victory on the night. Pete Simmons, Ipswich team manager, said afterwards "It's still a win although obviously I was looking for a much bigger points margin to take down to their place but it isn't over yet and if we can sort out what caused our collapse on Tuesday we still have a chance of going through to the next round".

For Ipswich Dakota North again impressed with a paid fifteen points haul. He was backed up by Leigh Lanham and reserve Rohan Tungate scoring nine points apiece. Cameron Heeps showed glimpses of what he is capable of when he stormed from the gate in heat eleven and convincingly beat Rebels number one Claus Vissing while skipper Kevin Doolan would potentially have had three more points to his name but he suffered bike problems on the third lap of heat twelve when he was leading the race.

Rebels Back At Foxhall For KOC Tie

The Ipswich 'Sackers' Witches will need to put Tuesday's disappointment behind them and set about planning revenge as they welcome the Somerset 'Cases' Rebels to Foxhall on Thursday night for the first leg of a Knock Out Cup tie. It is essential that the Witches win this meeting by a significant margin if they are to stand any chance of progressing through to the next round. In the League Cup encounter between the two sides back in April the Witches took an eight point victory but that will not be enough this time around to take down to the Oak Tree Arena for the second leg. The Rebels have been strengthened since then by the addition of Jason Doyle who experienced visa delays in Australia and he, alongside Claus Vissing and Sam Masters, form a very powerful heatleader trio. The Ipswich riders will all have to on top form to keep Somerset under control.

Rebels Late Surge Leaves Witches Pointless

The Ipswich 'Sackers' Witches return home from the Oak Tree Arena in Somerset with nothing to show for their efforts after leading for most of the meeting. The Sky TV cameras were in town and the racing lived up to all the pre-meeting hype with every heat being closely contested until the latter stages when the Witches appeared to run out of firepower.

Ipswich went ahead after heat one when Mat Tressarrieu flew from the gate and beat Somerset's new number one Claus Vissing with team mate Leigh Lanham coming in third. Disaster struck in heat two when Rohan Tungate's bike packed up as he was challenging for the lead and team mate Cameron Heeps was passed on the line. However the Witches hit straight back with a maximum heat win of their own courtesy of Skipper Kevin Doolan and Dakota North in heat three and the following four heats were shared.
