That was the first day. Then, the next day and for the three of four following days, things changed. A huge red carpet arrived, they put fence all over it, covering also the big bench, and in the middle of it all they built a stage.

Now there was a big banner outside the cinema, and it advertised the Transformers movie. I thought this might have to do with the stage and carpet, but I was not sure.

As days went by, the fence was becoming annoying, because this is a pretty popular place, lots of people were coming and going, and I thought that whatever this event is about, it was not really worth it.

I left Berlin at the 14th of June, so today, two days later, I thought I might check what this was all about. And I found this video.

Let’s imagine that there really are aliens, who come and visit us every now and then, take some of us to have sex with them, then put a chip, potato chip, or whatever in our noses and throw us back to earth to go about our human business.

It’s not a theory that could even come near logic or reality, but I’ll use this little fairy tale some attention whores made up, just for the fun of it.

This is how I would explain the video to my little green fellows when I went back to my distant planet.

First a small intro about this blue planet. I would say that this is the weirdest, creepiest place I have ever been to. There are many living things on this planet, some with two legs, others with four, and some with even more. Most of these things, beings, eat other beings, or some colorful objects, found on the ground or on weird columns with hair. Hair at the color of our skin.

But the weirdest being on this planet is one which looks much like us, actually. Their skin is not green, and their eyes are smaller. Surely they have tiny brains, but they have achieved more than the other beings of their planets. They call themselves humans.

We examined one of their nests at the upper side of the planet. They have big structures, in which they live, but all around them they have many of these columns with hair. Maybe they like to watch them, because they don’t seem to have any use. What’s more, other nests have only structures. Maybe these humans don’t like to watch the columns.

Humans come in many sizes and colors, except for green, but when they are at their nests, they all think they are superior that the others.

Now, at this one nest, we noticed some humans gathering in a structure. And we saw the most extraordinary thing. There were many of these humans, making creepy noises, which we could not stand, and we had to put our earplugs on, or else we were afraid our brains would be fried.

And they made these noises, for other humans. And their faces seemed like those of other beings. We could not understand yet how these beings managed to build these structures. They seem far more inferior than their technology.

To go back to our own history, we have records of ancients, who about 1,5 trillion years ago, when the asteroid 3AZ6 hit our planet, could not understand why, and so they made some rituals about it and worshiped it.

This looked a lot like what they did too, but instead of an asteroid, they worshiped other humans. When one of the asteroid-humans approached some of the others, they totally lost it. They screamed like they were in big pain, even louder than before. We could still hear them with our earplugs on. And they gave the asteroid-humans pieces of some kind of primitive writing material to draw something on, and then took it back and put it on their chests, but they were still screaming.

At the end of this ritual, the “asteroids” stood in the middle of the others, and people with bright, sudden lights came and flashed them in front of their eyes. These were not screaming, so they possibly were not in pain like the others.

We decided to leave, as there was nothing more we could learn about these primitive “humans”. We also decided, and we want to have the community’s approval, never to go back to this blue planet. Or maybe in a few billions of years, when they will have evolved.

I was watching some videos on YouTube today, because I wanted to find some good songs for my mother to buy from i-tunes for the i-phone. One of them was Bjork’s Army of me. Now, I could see the video but I could not hear anything and I noticed this message below the video: NOTICE This video contains an audio track that has not been authorized by all copyright holders. The audio has been disabled.

I have to clarify that I have quite many cds and two collectible dvds with her best video clips, because I really like her. But I rarely use them to watch videos or listen to music on my pc. So, I use YouTube, to watch a video and then do whatever it was I was doing in the first place. So what is really the purpose of this “restriction”? You might tell me okay, you have those cds and stuff, but not everyone else does.

But how am I supposed to convince my mother, who lives in another country, and therefore I cannot give her my cds, that Bjork is really worth her money? I mean sharing music makes artists become known, does it not?

Recently I heard that most artists make the vast majority of their money from their concerts, and how am I supposed to know if I want to go to a concert if I don’t hear someone’s music before? And this applies to buying the cd as well.

But things have changed the last years. People don’t buy that many cds, cause there is the internet and cds are not convenient, they need space to store them and you have to find the cd and put it in your player etc. Plus most of the times you don’t want to listen to a whole cd, so you can’t have 20 cds in front of you to listen to one song and then put the other one and so on.

But generally I would not buy a cd with a nice cover to discover a new artist. And most of the music I like is not mainstream and you can’t even find it in shops. If you find a store, because they sell specialized music they charge you twice the price, which is NOT cool.

And for many years, I used soulseek, an ad-free, free-to-share-music program with the music I wanted. And I discovered amazing music and I loved artists and I went to their concerts, or in some rare cases, bought their cds. So they won. I don’t know about their record companies and if they even had any, but they were really lucky soulseek was around, if it weren’t for it, no one would even know their names. Not because they are not worth it, but because no one would ever have the chance to get to know them.

And now comes the title. All this does not apply to music for the masses. The masses buy Madonna, Britney Spears and other mainstream garbage.

Or do they? I mean, believing that I am one of the few people in this planet who “search” their music before they decide to listen to it, is kind of egoistic. Maybe there are no masses anymore, and people actually think for themselves, and maybe they do not buy what big companies want to sell them, only for the sake of money, without any artistic content whatsoever.

Plus, there is the radio. You can listen to endless radio music stations, which are technically free. Of course you listen to ads, but you can choose if you buy these products or not. My favorite radio station has totally irrelevant advertisements to my interests, so I would never buy one of the products they proudly advertise, and if the ads are really annoying I choose to buy something else instead.

So what is their profit from me? I just listen to my favorite songs and don’t pay for anything. Is that not piracy? Do the record companies not feel exploited and offended, or whatever it is they feel? Do I not infringe or violate their copyrights?

Last year Radiohead released a new cd, In Rainbows. They decided to get rid of the middle man and distribute their music themselves. Through their website, you could download it for whatever price you wanted to pay for it. Which was kinda nice, because music is priceless after all.Truth be told, you cannot put a price to it, neither should you pay the same amount of money for every artist.

I cannot help but wonder why is it that, let’s say, singers makes crazy money for something that really needs no crazy effort, but a construction worker who may risk his life every day or at least his health can barely cope with his expenses. But that is another story.

The point is that a new era has began a long time ago. But the middle ages aged men who run the record companies know nothing about internet, and in some cases about music itself. They try to intimidate people by sending e-mails, demanding unsuspected people to pay fines, for unreal crimes. They have even sent those bills to dead people, or people who have no computers at all. But in any case they have no right to violate your computer’s privacy without your permission. And as, for every action there is a reaction, people began to fight back with lawsuits.

All that for music, which should give pleasure. Unless it is not about music, hmmm….

This does not represent Greece. This is the global. Global stupidity and emptiness. Global hypocrisy.

To all you good people who worry about other people’s shops, hotels, banks and car dealers, you can donate to them your salary. I know they need them. I used to work for one of these banks, and I know exactly how much money people make from their businesses. They really are in need right now.

While the young people are not. They know they will finish a monstrous educational system and go to university to be unemployed or if they have someone who knows someone who knows someone will get a good job that pays them 600 euro and worry about their car and make-up.

And I apologize on behalf of them for not wanting this shitty future. We all know they are wrong.

Sorry the cradle of democracy, which is now the cradle of filth, is burning. Sorry this beautiful city has people that think for themselves.

Funny, we only remember democracy when people riot against injustice. All the other days that people take advantage of us and laugh at our faces, they forget the word.

When a young woman is looking for a job, and after being ignored because she is fat, finally finds one which pays her 500 euro per month to live, we forget what democracy is.

When this young woman fights policemen and the system itself for killing a little boy, but also for making her a living dead, this is not democracy, huh? No, that is not convenient.

I would accept not burning down anything, if people could actually burn the parliament. Every parliament in the world, for they are like stables. Filthy, rotten and corrupt.

Still reporters don’t pay attention to people charging policemen with burning everything and stirring things up. Is it democracy to hide things that are not convinient?

Funny how people with good jobs forget about the problem they had finding a job and blame these children for being rude and stupid. People forget easily, don’t they?

Well, the epilogue is, our tree is ruined, and now Christmas will not be the same.

I mostly feel sorry for all you hypocritical and ignorant assholes who don’t understand what these little children want to teach you.

I am sorry you are afraid to leave your couch and you just critisize children who get beaten up for YOUR children. They may not change anything, but at least they try.

And fuck your Christmas trees and your monuments. They are all empty inside, they mean nothing. They are just shop’s windows but with no essence. The Acropolis doesn’t represent democracy, because there is no democracy. The tree does not represent joy, because there is not joy. The police does not represent protection, because there is not protection. You teach us lies, and you kill us every day. If this is democracy, then burning down your fucking monuments is democracy too.

Greece is burning. But I don’t mean the shops and cars. I couldn’t care less about them. I speak about people, people are burning inside.

All these years we live like European-Americans. We listen to fascists give speeches on television all day. We don’t get paid well by our jobs. We are taught by society that you are smart if you deceive others. That if you make money you can be successful. That you have to be a singer to make money. If you become a factory worker you are a zero, nothing, your existence is so unimportant you can die.

People are not respected. We are all just working hands for the powerful, and they try to keep it that way.

Truth is, I can’t write. My thoughts are so mixed up, I can’t think clearly. But I am really sad I am not at Greece at the moment. The reason I left it is because I saw hypnotized people, who didn’t care for anything but their own beautiful self. Or what the fucking useless “celebrities” do.

People who were lost inside their own big black holes. People who did not want to solve their problems. People who did not want change, even if that meant that they would be better off, simply because change requires to leave the couch.

This has suddenly changed. One little boy had to die, for people to understand what they did. And now more young people suffer by moronic pigs because previous generations fucked everything up.

Previous generations who gave us no choice. Who taught us all these disturbed ideas about the world and what we should do with ourselves.

But that little boy died.

And what makes me really angry is that I heard from a “respected” reporter something that went like this:

-Will the prime minister (of Greece) find the guts to react like he should, and stop the violence, like Sarcozi successfully did in Paris, or will he just feel guilty and keep policemen from doing their jobs?

What this fascist idiot didn’t understand is that what happens now is called revolution. It has no political goal. It is just that all the dazed people woke up and understood what they did. And if police gets more violent, people will get more aggressive.

Revolution is not trying out the new tortillas or buying the new toothbrush. Revolution means fight, real fight, not through a computer screen.

And they should. Older people to correct the shit they did to us and younger people to fix their broken future. I would never give my life for flags or anthems or stupidities like these which only aim to keep people under oppression. But fuck yeah, I would give my life to fight for individual freedom. For freedom of speech and expression.

We do not carry guns but we carry dreams. Dreams like that the little boy had.

We had to wake up. There is no other way now. And stop worrying about cars and shops’ windows. Who fucking cares? The issue is and should be freedom.

They did not expect this? People just react to something that has been happening for years now. Years of stupidity and oppression, how are we supposed to fit our dreams in there? Our dreams are huge, green and beautiful. Without corruption or glitter. Our dreams are clear and clean. And we have to realize them, even if this means some fat politicians will lose their chairs or some stupid policemen will lose their salaries. They don’t deserve power, they don’t know what to do with it, so they just keep us with our heads down.

But the little boy is dead. If someone can bring him back people will repair the damaged cars. But they can’t.

And most of the people don’t care why. They don’t want to see the reason, because they are responsible. All they see is their own profit, their own chair. Nobody really cares why.

But the little boy is dead. And we must not pretend to care, we have to care. Because millions of people are murdered everyday in our “modern” societies. It still counts as murder when you deprive people of their personality and their dreams.

And now is the time to wake up. All of us.

All these trends, give us a specific kind of way of how we should act and what we should think. Feng-shui tells us where we should put our plants, zen what kind of stones we should wear, feminism if we should wear sexy skirts or not, fashion if we should wear black this season, our horoscope if we should ask for a raise today, religion if it is a sin to have sex on Monday, and so on and so forth.

But Zen, for example is a really old religion and has nothing to do with all the hocus-pocus they sell us today. It is a school of Buddhism, that has to do with meditation and a certain way of life, which has nothing to do with our “western” way of upbringing and living, so we can’t really understand it. It’s like trying to learn how to dance traditional Greek music, you may make it, but you will seem rather funny to the people who really know how to do it.

Or let’s take astrology. It is an ancient way of interpreting the stars. The way the ancient people saw them from a specific place and with their own imagination. First of all, the stars are not even visible today in the same line they were 2.000 years ago. So everything is a big joke. Still, many people read and believe their horoscopes, and even make decisions based upon them.

Feminism, on the other hand, is not that old. It’s a new “movement”, that has to do with how women should see themselves. Still, feminism, after the big bang, now fades, and women after having earned themselves a spot in society, now should take a step back and see what they should do next. Instead, they want to keep fighting like men, and ignore their feminine side. Feminism is not feminine at all.

What pissed me off, was that, some time ago, I was reading a blog with feminist content. And most of those women seemed to hate Paris Hilton and all she represents. But one of the women who wrote articles to this blog, wrote about something Haris Pilton did, and how it proved she had nuts, in her opinion. And suddenly, all these fighting women changed their minds about her, and seemed to like her, only because one of their own, someone who they respected and follow, obviously, told them to.

Or, fashion. Fashion is for naive people. I am not saying we should wear rugs, or that our appearance does not matter. It does. But, hey, think about it. There are people who live to buy an expensive bag, which if it wasn’t for the name on the side, they would probably not even want it for a door mat. If my car had seats at this color and design, I would cover them up.

About a week ago I learned that a friend of mine wants to change his life. Or, rather, change his lifestyle. This word might seem harmless, but it is not in reality. So he wants to write PHP and watch Manga. He does write PHP, that is his job, and I am sure he likes to watch Manga. But he wants to do it an a frame, a certain style. Reminds me of the underground hackers which were in fashion 20 years ago.

I find this amusing, and all these people who try to be different by getting into little societies or groups which consist of people who are all the same amongst them. But they have no difference than those who want to buy a certain car to be noticed. They all agree to be sheep, in a different herd, it doesn’t really matter who the shepherd is.

Anyway, all these trends, really place an obstacle in front of us, and prevent us from seeing the reality. Reality is hard, sometimes cruel, but problems are for humans to solve. If you blame your stars or the position of the plants in your living room for a failure in a relationship or work, you let yourself be deceived. If you don’t allow yourself to be a woman, because feminists say so, you are just an idiot.

Why do people want to be told what to do? Why do they want to be affected so badly? It’s not about beliefs in a specific subject, it’s about the meaning of our whole life.

Is it a trend to not want to be trendy? Because I want to be trendy too, by not being trendy. Where do they sell some of this stuff? Linkz mi naw!

We would, if we forgot the real war is not played by weapons today. Real war is mass media. It was 9/11 and the American terrorism, it is all the movies about how bad people from Middle East are, it is war over oil and natural gas, it is war of corporations to us, about who will get the most out of our wallets.

And it would sound exciting, if it still did not involve killing people. Serial killers would surely find this exciting. But, I believe the majority of us are not serial killers. Still, the governments, have to find people who are stupid enough to finish what they started with “intelligent” war, and go over there to clean up and justify their purposes.

Travel and opportunity, to see other cultures, and then bomb them. This is an excellent opportunity to be the last person who actually sees a piece of art for the last time, or even a palace.

And, hell yeah, let’s kill some innocent people. They are worthless anyway. They don’t have our civilization, so they don’t deserve to live. Plus they do not kiss our flags and they don’t believe in the same imaginary friends, ehm, I meant gods.

It is cool to be able to hold a weapon in hour hands, too. You get to play Counter Strike for real. You can also have your favorite music in a portable cd-player while you kill! You should not get paid for that, you should pay and thank them for giving you this amazing opportunity.

You also get to hate people in the army, especially your neighbors. The Turks hate the Greeks, the Irish hate the British, the Americans hate the Cubans and vice versa, and the army makes a big deal out of it, how exciting. And just pray that you kill them one day. The enemies wake up in the morning and on their way to work they think of how to get your territory. So kill those bastards, the army gives you a chance to be the monster of the universe!

Prove you love your country, be a man, be a hero. Army helps you build your dreams by shattering other people’s dreams. That’s like the shampoo, two in one. How nice, I am really tempted. Seriously, you don’t love your country if you are not ready to kill other human beings for it. They are inferior, they deserve it. Hate, hate, I know you can, moar hate!

And, of course, you need discipline for all this. How could a person with free will and a properly functioning brain agree to be a part of this trading stupidity? Discipline means following orders without being able to judge, your brain must be at pause, and you must be ready to obey, hate, kill, annihilate, destroy. For your flag’s colors, for your ideals. What are greater ideals than war, crime, torture, and murder?

So much fun. It must be like holidays in the army, they even pay for your airplane tickets, those people are so kind.

That’s why the Americans, after killing Saddam Hussein, still stayed at Iraq. Who wants to end his holidays and go back to work, huh? I wouldn’t. You get to miss the best things ever.

And you, who find army to be insulting and stupid and don’t want to join it, I have to tell you, you don’t know what you’re missing. You’re just ignorant. That’s why they have to send you to court, or jail, they want to make you see the beauty of life through death. If you haven’t seen the worst, how can you appreciate the best?

The fact that all soldier-army-lovers are retards, has nothing to do with anything. It is just a coincidence. And they are not really retards, the army tested them and reached a verdict:

-They are strong (muscles are always pretty, right?, and if you can carry a gun and punch someone in the face, you truly are strong),

-They have two testicles (so they are men, while others with one or three or more are women, aliens, plants, or mutated species)

-They are smart (they are smart enough to let others make decisions for them, their brains will burn if they have to think of everything)

-They are double-smart (they get to have all-year-round holidays, play live their games, and get more money than you would ever dream of)

-They are triple-smart (they get to die for their country, even if that means that if they all die, there will be no country, because a country actually is, ehm, its people)

-They have a better tan than you (they get to have tropical holidays in exotic countries, like Afghanistan or Iraq)

-They get to see their gods fighting each other in combats (the strongest wins, it really helps if you pray hard before the battle)

So don’t miss this amazing opportunity, join the army, now. Now that you are young and can be helpful to your country, kill now, die now, live your own death, and other people’s too. Be the best, call 0666-666666. And help your god prevail, help good beat the evil forces. If you manage to distinguise them, that is. Help your country by dying (I ask you this as a personal favor). At Chicago, where people gathered for Obama’s speech, a reporter asked a guy, who was the owner of a big company or something, how he felt about the wealth distribution. And his answer shocked me. He said that he didn’t care if he had to pay more taxes, if the world was to become a better place.

And the world looks at the U.S.A. in a different way already. Everyone I know, is really happy, and feel optimistic for the planet’s future. We all want this change. We all hope everything will be better from now on. Not only for the Americans, but also for the rest of the planet, which the cowboy messed up, including the planet itself.

I really wanted Obama to win, but I thought this was not possible. I was afraid the potato man would be in charge of the world now, and the future looked dim. His only difference from Bush is that Bush is stupid, while McCain is ruthless.

What strikes me is that Obama had the votes of the 2/3 of American young people, while the majority of the elderly voted for McCain. Why don’t they care about their children, why are they so afraid of change? Change is good!

Of course many people are afraid for Obama’s life, but I hope they are wrong, as do they, I think. And let’s just hope the U.S.A. will stop controlling the rest of the world. Europe almost lost its character lately. Its personality faded and we all became more American-like. From our everyday life and our food to our jobs and economy.

Thank you Americans who voted as you did. Honestly, you not only did well for your country, but also for the rest of the world. And let’s hope things will work out and Obama will live to change things for better.

First of all, you have to know, for most of the parents, it’s not the couple’s day, it’s THEIR day. If you wanted to, you could leave them decide for everything, and they wouldn’t ask you for a single thing. They know better, always, don’t they? They got married before you after all, and they have been to many weddings. They have the know-how, and why, and when, and who.

Above everything in your wedding, is your parent’s debts to other people. I mean, you know, whose wedding they’ve been to, their customers, their friends, their colleagues, their providers, their bosses or employees, well, all those people around them. Then there are the couple’s debts, their colleagues, customers, providers, bosses, employees, bosses, friends, neighbors etc. And all those people HAVE to be there.

Then there are the details. First question is when. Not in the middle of the summer, your parents don’t like it too hot, but not in the winter too, they wouldn’t want the rain or snow to ruin their hair or shoes.

Then the where, according to one custom at the bride’s home city, which could be different than where she lives now, but this doesn’t matter actually, if her parents still do. Or according to other customs, to the groom’s home city, but that’s for the parents to decide, back off pup, this is none of your business.

Then the how, at a church, at the city hall, in a garden, next to a swimming pull, or both, the parents will choose what they KNOW is better for everyone. The usual is at a church, their precious princess in a white wedding dress, so what if she is like a whale in puberty? She still is their princess.

The reception, should be open for everyone to come. Even for the guy who has the kiosk that sells hot-dogs outside their work. And at the place it suits the parents. With the decoration they prefer. Nothing more nothing less.

Because the parents are so determined, the whole wedding industry revolves around their demands. If you go with your mother or mother in law-to be for a wedding dress, for example, you’ll notice the saleswoman is not even looking at you, even though you’re the bride, she always speaks with your mother. The florist too, like everyone else who has to do with your wedding.

And they all charge you with astronomical amounts of money for shitty products. Like flowers, a flower bouquet which you would buy normally for let’s say 40 euro, if it happens to be for a bride, costs 400, same flowers, the only difference is the lacing.

Also another word you’ll hear many times if you’re about to get married is the word swarovski. Any type of glass, plastic or crystal artifact, used for anything at all in a wedding is called swarovski. From the cake, hair, gown, shoes, gloves, bouquet, decoration, food, they literally drop little shiny thingies everywhere they can to triple their already crazy prices. Triple is not enough, just add two or three zeros behind the amount.

About wedding dresses. While searching for the perfect dress, I ran across some very disturbing facts. They buy dresses from China, which cost from 80 to 300 dollars and RENT them for 1.500 to 2.000 euro. And they buy them in XL size to be able to cut them and fit them to any type of body. And imagine a dress from XL cut to fit someone who wears XS. You can barely recognize it. It already was terrible quality and now it is terrible quality, horrific design and totally shapeless. All this for just 1.800 euro for one day.

Do not despair, there are the couturiers too. They do actually make the dress with and for you, which is far better, and with really good fabrics most of the times too. But they charge you “whatever they see they can get from you”, as the saleswoman boldly told me. Which means, if you look extremely wealthy, they will charge you double the price that they would charge a normal looking person. Simply because they know they can. Same for groom’s suit.

If you are a man, the hardest thing to find is a decent shirt. There is no such thing as a waisted shirt with cuffed links. They are all straight, I suppose every man who gets married should either not care about what he will wear that day, or too old and pot-bellied so we doesn’t need a waisted shirt anyway. Okay.

So, the wedding day has come. You are expected to have lots of people in your house, parents, brothers, sisters, grandparents, hair-dresser, make-up artist, uncles, aunts, cousins, neighbors, friends, passer-bys, well everyone. And music, loud, preferably traditional, as well as food, for everyone who wants to eat. Food is essential for the aunties who came from another city, village, or country. You know the auntie you haven’t seen in 20 years, but she loves you? Yes that one.

In this mass you may lose your tie or you mind, the coiffeur and the make-up artist won’t be able to do their job, because there is always someone passing behind them and nudging them, but that doesn’t really matter, all these people love you and want to share your happy day. Even auntie Clara, who walks around and eats like there’s no tomorrow. She got tired from the journey, you understand.

The result of this is that most of the brides and some of the grooms, don’t even recall that day, all the remember is a fuss, a buzzing sound and people going nuts about their shoes and that they are going to be late.

The wedding ceremony is just endless. The fucking photographer is annoying the couple, telling them to look at him, open their eyes and be concentrated. He is doing his job, come on, this is NOT the time to enjoy each other and the moment, get serious.

And when all this is over, it’s time for the reception. Until you go there, the photographer has one more chance to make your life miserable, so he takes you to “nice” places to get some cool pics. One of the nice places he took us was a garden with some flowers and plants. The soil was moist, so my red satin high heel shoes sinked in and were destroyed permanently, but he was so happy, I wouldn’t want to ruin his day…

Then we told him to just photograph anything he wanted at the reception, but not harass us anymore. Obviously he felt offended, so he took 5 lousy shots, got drank, harassed two of my girlfriends who were there, despite the fact that he is married with two children, and left. Needless to say he is twice their age.

After this he asked about 1.000 euro for a photo album, even though we talked about this before the wedding and he told us the price would be 500. Also, before the wedding we told him we didn’t want conventional wedding photos, we want them different, more spontaneous and less fixed. He only took 3 or 4 of those and the rest was junk. Like all the wedding photos.

Concerning the dj. His first mistake was that he brought a banner with the name of his company, without letting us know about this first. Why did we have to pay him, if he advertised his company at our wedding? But this was his small mistake. The bigger was that although we had already given him a cd with all the songs we wanted, he played his own choices. He told us before the wedding that parents and guests expect and want to hear specific songs, but we made it clear that we didn’t care. He chose to do what he wanted anyway. When he crossed the line, my husband actually went to him and made the playlist himself. It should be a coincidence that people were dancing to our songs and while he was doing his thing most of the people just sat down. Because HE knew. Our mistake was that we payed him in advance.

So, if you want this to be a special day, arrange everything first, and then announce it to your parents. Well, just invite them. It will be easier for you and for them as well. Decide what you really want, and if your budget is not that big, you ought to know that the honeymoon is something you should invest to. Auntie Clara doesn’t give a fuck about you and you will probably never see her again, so no need to worry about her. Also don’t let aunties be more than your friends at the reception, this will ruin your party. Just think of what the two of you want and it will be one of the best days of your life.

So you are feeling a bit fresher and you decide to empty your mind and enjoy your dinner. You are feeling a bit lonely, so you switch on the dumb-box, to watch something light, like an episode of that old series you used to watch some years ago. You eat your first bite, you just began to feel a bit better, to hell with the boss, you tell yourself, you deserve some happiness.

Just when you let yourself relax, the ads start. First an insurance company, then a super market, and the third is a bank, all trying to prove you they have the best service, for the right price, nothing to worry about, they care for you, and now, with the financial crisis, they all have special deals, to show you how much they love you, really.

You have eaten almost half of your meal, and you are watching something sick, it surely is not part of the show you were watching, but this can’t be an advertisement, it is little children really skinny, half dead, with their big innocent eyes looking at you. You look at your fork, loaded with spaghetti with red sauce you made with organic tomatoes, basil, a hint of freshly picked oregano, from your mother’s visit to Crete last year, and just a little of that wonderful Italian red wine. It is an advertisement. You feel a bit guilty, little children die and you are in your warm apartment, eating you delicious fresh pasta meal. All they are asking of you is 3 pounds a month.

You look at the television again, hoping that what you saw has ended and you’ll never see it again, you’ll probably forget in two minutes anyway. And you just realize your episode has ended, another show is on now, oh well, you can watch a bit of that too, it might be interesting.

It’s some millionaire well-dressed corporate guys and a gal, trying to find their next victim. Their ideal candidate has invested in a product or an idea, worked hard for it, has all the clients at hand, prepared to buy, but has ran out of money, to implement the task.

Two young people are next, a girl and a boy, named Sarah and Tom. They invented a container for water, for people of the undeveloped countries, who have a serious problem of contaminated water, and it is one of the main causes of death there.

The government has rejected them, they are not really interested in such ideas. Why spend money for people that won’t vote for you? But it really is a good idea, you can make money, lots of money. The lions look interested, Sarah and Tom got it all figured out, as the lions wanted them to.

So they accept to help them for a fair amount of profit, of course. Well, not really fair, something like 70%, but they have no alternative solution, Sarah and Tom accept. The lions are now really excited, you can almost see the sparkle in their eyes, they are ready to mangle their prey.

You, on the other hand, are a bit confused. Three pounds a month is nothing, but if someone makes profit out of it, how much of it will be left? And if major businessmen are involved, it smells trouble. Plus, the other ads you were watching, financial institutions, super-markets and so on, are all part of the problem. They take the resources of third world countries, sell them for big bucks to the whole world, and leave them with nothing, not only financially, but also in terms of products.

The middle men are always the ones who benefit the most. For example soy beans farmers in Brazil are poor, while the people who buy from the farmers and export their goods and friggin rich. Also, developing countries are poor, because they have debts to developed countries. About the debts issue, there is a reliable source that can inform you about what’s going on.

So, you pay a business man 3 pounds, to pay 1 pound to a family, or the equivalent in food, which is so much cheaper in an undeveloped country, so that the poor family can pay taxes to their government, to pay their debt to your government, which is cunning enough to exploit the other country in the first place and not erase the debt, so YOU can pay it back. And well, if some poor people die along the way, big deal, the planet is over-populated anyway, we could use some space.

Let’s take Ethiopia, they exports livestock, leather products, gold, flowers, cereals, cotton, sugarcane, potatoes, electricity to their neighbors, but the most important export product is coffee. I wonder how much they make, for every cup of coffee Starbucks sell. Their brand name speaks for itself, I believe. Yet, Ethiopia is one of the poorest countries in the world. And Starbucks can promote the fair trade idea, yeah right, sure, of course, I am absolutely convinced it is fair.

I only wish there was a way to cut the middle man, so that we could offer money or goods that would actually benefit the people we intended to help in the first place. If only there was a way never to hear about scandals like the Unicef scam, which is old, or the tsunami aid, which is more recent. If there was a way to not allow people to make money out of our good intentions. What does charity mean anyway? Paying extremely fat salaries is not part of it, is it? Non-profit organizations should have employees that get paid like 2.000 euro a month in countries like Ireland?

If they do, then fuck you. I feel sorry for the people, but until you find a way to prove me that my money goes to THEM, I won’t give you a cent. If our governments, charity companies, banks and super markets decide to be fair and stop making millions over people’s dead bodies, third world countries won’t have a problem anyway. But if they still have, people will be more than happy to help. Until then, ban all these lousy commercials, so we can enjoy our dinner in peace and go advertise the next insurance trend: how to take old people’s houses to give them money to buy more Starbucks fair trade coffee.

America used to be the promise land once upon a time. They still think they are, they just forget information is faster than propaganda, and people actually know what there is going on there.

The U.S.A., like other super-power countries, seem like another planet. They only think about their interests, they try to keep people away from information and freedom, and they only want to prove they are super-powers.

I would not really care about their elections, but unfortunately, they affect the rest of the world as well. And no matter the outcome, we are all fucked. I have to say, McCain seems ruthless and totally stupid, but in the end both of them are controlled. Well only time will tell if McCanDoAnything exceeds Shrub in stupidity, if something like that is even possible.

Their war on terrorism is another way to control the masses, and just like religion, to keep everyone feared, so they can achieve their goals. And their goal is to get richer themselves and to keep the corporations richer and happier as well.

Hitler is associated with evil, war, and death. Yet, if you compare what the American presidents and their courtiers did all those years with what he did, he seems harmless. How many innocent people do they still kill today? How many more do they want to kill just to get their hands on precious oil.

The definition of fascism is: ‘The marriage of corporation and state’, as Benito Mussolini once said.

If they dedicated the money and effort, they wouldn’t need the oil anyway. But they are cowboys, that’s they only thing they can do. Plus all this helps them dominate the world, expand their empire and intimidate their enemies. Like their enemies give a fuck about people dying in Iraq or anywhere else.

President Dwight Eisenhower, Republican, uttered these words on November 8, 1954:

“Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things.
Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid.”

In addition to being a war hero, a decent fellow, a moderate Republican before they began to go extinct, President Eisenhower apparently was also quite the prophet. Little George W. Bush was about 9 years old at the time…

What’s really annoying is that they try to convince the American people that they are saviors. Well, the American people, even if they try to keep them uneducated and away from information, know better than that. Of course internet helps, because if they had to rely on their mass media, they would be kept blindfolded for ever.

We are so sick of their shit. We want to go on vacation and we have to take off our shoes, because we are all potential terrorists. We go to a concert and we cannot bring a bottle of water with us, because it could be explosives. They can search our bags anywhere, anytime. I swear, if I ever go to the U.S.A. as a tourist, I will put sex toys in my handbag for the airport security .

The world is going mad, because the American president is a.s.a.p. (as stupid as possible). Land of the free, home of the brave has become land of the slaves, home of the imbeciles. And corporations, I would add.

From the creation museum to hell houses, from the mad cow, Oprah to Tom Cruise and his cult, from Paris to Ann Coulter and Sarah Plain, all they do is trying to drive the American people to insanity. But be strong! We are with you.

Maybe we still go through the era of change of women, but it should be over by now. Technically, we are still at the third wave of feminism, but it proceeds waaay to slow.

So, as women, we accomplished quite a lot. We can vote, we can work,we can have proper education, we can drive, pretty much we can do everything we want to, in most countries, anyway. And most of us can’t even perceive how it would be like to feel inferior.

Yet, it feels wrong, it’s like nothing has changed. We don’t depend on men, but we do depend on our bosses. Some are lucky enough to be the bosses, but this does not apply to most women. We don’t depend on our husband’s money, but we need credit cards and loans, so we depend on our banks.

About career, we have become even more obsessed than men. And it’s perfectly understandable, because we have to rise to the top. I, myself, am a very ambitious person, and really competitive, and would just about do everything I could to take a promotion (within certain ethical limits, of course), and then another, and then another. It never really stops when you have great expectations of yourself.

But all this, makes us more dependable from our jobs. And if our boss is a man, in the end we depend on him. So are we really free? I believe this leaves us back to where we started. And really confused. Because we are men at work but in the evening we have to be women, mothers, lovers.

I am not certain, but I sometimes have this weird thought that they take advantage of us. Not just men, the system we are brought up into. If you work and have a baby you can leave your job for three months usually. If you are healthy and had no implications, that is. But three months is not nearly enough. You then have to depend on other people, mothers, mothers-in-law, or just ambiguous nursery schools.

Where is the freedom in all this? Cause, forgive me, I feel trapped. Feminism was created by women, but it would make sense if men had invented it, too. And all this feminism issue, about what women should wear or not, if they should allow men to to open the car door for them and all these stereotypes are just plain stupid. I don’t accept anyone’s rules about how I should behave or not. We all should be able to think for ourselves and have in mind the person we are with and why we behave however be behave under certain circumstances.

Of course we are all equal, no need to fight for that anymore. Equal, not superior. Things have changed, but us, women, don’t seem to accept it. Instead of fighting for our right to be men, we should embrace our nature and demand for others to accept it too. Stop wasting time worrying if what you are wearing is feminist-friendly, try and be yourself.

They seem to want to identify themselves as a project, an audiovisual experience. Their interviews are always controversial. Mostly they try to shake our minds and make us think differently. Or maybe they just want to test us, see if they can manipulate us, or how they can affect us.

What does Johann Sebastian Bach and Laibach have to do with each other? Well it seems that Laibach tried to interpret Bah using electronic drums and keyboards. A merging of the past and the future. It sure is well made but also interesting. The title of this new project is Kunst Der Fuge, by Laibach.

If you have already heard Laibach, don’t try to compare it anything they made before. This is different, but I think you’ll enjoy it. And I read that the live shows are very artistic, so if it happens to be anywhere near you, I propose you book tickets.

Idiots are everywhere, you can see them at the super market, at the bank, at every tv show and especially realities, or even at the government. They can be rich or poor, illiterate or with major universities degrees, young or old, in every country, and they are the majority too. In fact idiots rule this world.

Some people are born stupid, because they inherit it from their parents, because of implications during pregnancy (mothers are not famous for their scientific knowledge), during birth (nor are obstetricians), because of diseased during childhood, or for other reasons. Some become stupid, because they get a certain education, or rather, lack of it, or simply because they grow up amongst idiots and they don’t need to use their brain.

But it is a dangerous disease, it spreads really fast, it can affect everyone and it can’t be cured. If there was a way to discover a medicine for it no minister of health would allow it’s distribution, because it would affect his position (people would understand they voted for an idiot), and no doctor would every research it, they think this is too worthless a task to bother themselves with, as they think they are surely too smart for it. Only some geneticists claim to be able to produce smarter people, but they seem to be even more stupid, until they prove they are smarter. Plus many other professionals are not particularly interested in curing the disease, because they would be out of business. Clerics, popes, tv “stars”, singers, actors and politicians only to name a few. The world economy would collapse.

Nature is smart and has a balance. But in the case of human brain, she made an exception. Because if there was a balance we should all be either smart or stupid, or there would be an even distribution. But no, the vast majority of humans are total idiots.

You can tell instantly an idiot, they have some special characteristics. To name but a few, they have a portentous look, and they hate humor and laughter. Maybe because they hate the funny side of life or because they understand they are perfect expressions of it. They usually like to advertise themselves, by their titles at their business cards (they know nobody will ever confirm them), by trying to convince everyone how magnificent they are and what they have achieved, by copying words of great people and using their quotes, or by simply opening an old dictionary and using words no one would ever understand. Because if you understand what they are saying, boy, are they lost. Others just don’t understand when to start or stop speaking. Or don’t understand anything at all.

Idiots are afraid of everything new, if it’s not in the bible, it’s a sin. They wait until afterlife to live, and spend their time trying to get rich, buying as much as they can. They believe their god will not send them to hell if they make good deeds. So in between ripping off people to reduce their own misery, they send money to charities. They are the same people who believe Bush is a savior, and not a total imbecile, indescribable sack of meat who knows nothing about anything at all, and makes wars to save people from countries they don’t even know where they are.  He wants oil, and he kills humans for it. There is no war for terrorism, there is only greed and stupidity. What a terrible combination.

There is another terrible combination, and it is almost as dangerous as the previous one. Stupidity and hope. These two can make your brain minced meat, and I am afraid the majority of brains on this planet are like that. Just think of how many people try to buy out one god or another, by giving donations, or believing in holy paintings and sculptures. Just think of how much some people make by the naivety of others and their hope for a better future. No rationality whatsoever. If they were rational, they would understand, there are no miracles, no saviors, no holy books or paintings who cry, sneeze, cough or spit. And instead of asking their personal gods of stupid favors, they would ask for brains.

I don’t believe the ones who exploit the naive are smart. They are cunning, but not smart. A smart individual doesn’t really care about wealth or fame. And surely he/she does not want to associate with idiots, because she cannot stand them. She understands there is one lifetime and it’s the one you live right now, she can’t sacrifice precious time. She is not afraid of tomorrow and anything new, not even death (nobody wants to die, but it is after all inevitable), and she hates restrictions, especially the ones they enforce her. She restricts herself, when she needs to, because she is rational. A smart person cannot be the president of the U.S.A.. A smart person does not spend time sending chain spam messages. A smart person does not watch reality shows.

I don’t exclude myself or anyone who reads this, we all are equally capable and most probable of stupidity. Oh well, that makes life interesting and funny. Plus, there is a good thing about being stupid, as Socratis said, the less we understand, the happier we are. So cheers to that.

But still men carry an old belief that only they play games, and if a woman plays, she surely must be really bad at it. They think they have an expanded brain or something that allows them to perform such advanced tasks as playing games (or drive for that matter). Well, sorry guys, it’s not much of an advanced task.

It is true that women are only new to the world of gaming. If you consider that women in places like Saudi Arabia are still strictly prohibited from doing these evil deeds, it’s not that strange.

And in most countries of the world, even more advanced, women are still brought up as housewives. Not that there’s something wrong with it. I have to accept that the woman is the one who carries a baby. But still she works in almost every job available. So how come, when she is expected to work and offer the society as much as a man, she is not expected to be a capable gamer or driver.

As far as I am  concerned, women have exactly the same chances as men to be crappy gamers. It’s not a matter of sex, it’s a matter of skill. And not all people have the same amount of skill at everything that they do. Women are just fewer, so they get attention.

It still strikes me though that men get excited by a female co-player. It’s almost as they don’t believe it. And the truth is, they don’t easily trust them. It takes twice the effort to prove that you can be a capable player. But men are in fact the ones who keep women where they are. Away from computers and gaming.

They all want their girlfriend to join them in raids, or sieges, but they don’t encourage them. They are the ones making all these shitty jokes about women and their lack of skills in anything else than the kitchen. But I have to tell you guys, surprise, surprise, the best chefs in the planet are men. So much for your stereotypes. You fail!

So, if you really like to have more female co-players, why don’t you change the way you see women in general? Encourage your female friends or girlfriends to play games, and teach them how to. Unless you are afraid they might end up better than you. But then, there are millions of people who are better than you, so there’s no reason to feel bad. And in the end, you will gain endless hours of fun, it’s so much better than to /drool and wait for a miracle.

Zero tolerance, and it’s not even a matter of tolerance. You don’t really have to tolerate anything. Everyone should be able to live as he/she wishes. Gay people can do you no harm. They just live their lives, just like all the so called “normal people”.

Straight people on the other hand, especially men, to prove their manly muscles and hair or whatever they feel they must prove they have, many times can be insulting and even violent. But that’s ok, because they are men that’s what they should do, right? Well I have never heard of a gay person raping someone. And if there is, it’s an exception.

Straight people, choose to cheat on their wives or husbands, that’s an everyday phenomenon, so, it’s normal. You had to get married, you had to compromise. So, since you gave up your wants and needs, you deserve to spend at least some time with other people, you deserve a little bit of happiness. One of my girlfriends once received a marriage proposal. And she told me she had to accept because he was a rich guy and her parents liked him. So her comment was something like “You are in love with someone, but you have to marry and spend your life with someone else”.

That’s the root of the problem, we are all controlled. By our families, our societies, out religions. And that’s the reason there are millions of depressed or simply unhappy people. That’s the reason why people more frequently divorce than they change their jobs.

And some of them live oppressed in endless relationships or marriages, while they are attracted to people of the same sex. And if their legal mate find out, they usually just hide the fact, even from themselves.

The world is supposed to be moving forward, but still, most of the people can’t even do what they like in their bedrooms. This should only be their business, and their business only. We have all of a sudden forgotten everything about human rights. Some people fought for them, others died. They were people like us, visionaries of a better world, a free world.

Most of the gay people have to live hiding themselves, just in case anyone identifies them as gay. So they usually go to specific places where they know that people will not judge them, but rather just accept them for whatever they are. If this is not racism then what is?

We have to understand at some point, that the world does not turn around us personally, the world belongs to everyone equally. The heads of the states or churches are stupid enough to want to divide people into smaller groups, so that they can control them easier. And they try hard, but we are not as stupid as they are. We have to understand what freedom and morality really is. And it surely is not to judge others for what they like or disslike in bed.

Morality is not something you can advertise, if you are a moral person, try and prove it for once. Who the fuck do we think we are to tell others what to do? No person on this planet is important enough to be able to take those decisions.

And there are gay people, there always were and there always will be, so, get over it.

When Dave Gahan announced at 2007, that he was leaving Depeche Mode for a solo carrier, it was a black celebration, lovely idea,  but this meant we would not see Depeche Mode on tour again.  Thankfully,  it was a question of time.

And just some days ago they announced at a press conference which was held in Berlin, that not only do they prepare a new album, they also plan a world tour, the Tour of the Universe.

Now, this tour, just like the previous one, is condemned to fail. In order for it to be successful they would have to be on stage at least 4-5 hours, and still, some of their fans wouldn’t be totally happy. Nah, I am only joking. Every single one of their concerts is unique and amazing. But they have so many songs, it would be impossible for them to sing them all in two hours.

It may sound cliche, but they truly have magical powers on stage. They can skyrocket and throw you back to earth. That’s why I loved the title they gave to their tour. It is like touring the universe when you see and hear them live. It’s just inexplicable, they transmit this massive waves of energy, you feel like you are the world and the world is you.

What made them persist through time was, except for their amazing relationship with their fans, that they seemed uncompromising. They wrote about “sensitive” subjects that many people were afraid to mess up with, but always treated them with respect and made them sound more deep and less cheesy.

And their songs are always identifiable, but so different from each other. They are also not afraid to experiment, to grow up musically,or to change the pattern. But always keeping their personal style of music in place, and not selling it out.

I am sure everyone who is lucky enough will have the time of their life in one of their lives. The rest will enjoy their new album, along with all the old but not forgotten songs. Until then, let’s enjoy the silence.

Still I can’t help but wonder, where is this world going to anyway? Instead of all of us understanding or trying to understand why we are here, we insist on hanging on the words of incompetent imbeciles who only want our money. And in order to take it they keep us blinded and feared. Religion started as a worship of things people could not understand. Now it is a way of controlling the masses.

The Bible is not really a proof of anything at all. Childish stories, by people afraid of their future, written ages ago, by uneducated people, who lived in a totally different environment. Still most of us choose not only to believe in it, but also to live our lives by it and affect the lives of others around us. As if we wouldn’t be moral without a book, which supposedly tell us what to do.

If you read carefully all these ancient fairy tales you’ll find really annoying details. In all of them, without any exception. They refer to times when people were in constant fear of war, diseases and death. And all these books have in common the fact that they are recycled older stories or myths. No history in them whatsoever. Even their symbols are stolen.

But all major religions had really good marketing. That’s how they survived until today. And I accept that 2000 years ago people were poor, afraid, had no education, and there were some smart ones who saw a perfect business. How are we today in the same place?

If you think about it, despite the changes, many things are the same. We spend most of our lives working in boring jobs, end up with someone just because we have to make a family, buy houses and try to just survive. Media keeps us feared, even with their commercials, but most effectively by news. If you pay a little attention you’ll see that a major drama isn’t really a major one, it’s ordinary things happening to people.

And as there is no god there is no devil, people always did stupid or crazy things, it’s human nature, not a beast. And people can be kind by nature. To preserve their genes. No invisible forces urge us to act one way or another.

You just have to wake up one day and act if there is nothing. Unless you are a priest and you’ll lose your job and therefore your salary, nothing else is different. Same sky, same people, same job, same food. You work for your life, you fight for it, nothing really helps you, except in some cases the people that love you and care for you.

Anyway if you are born in a specific country, you adopt it’s religion. That in itself proves that it’s just popular belief, not a truth. If we were free we wouldn’t be baptised, we would have proper education and the freedom to choose for ourselves.

That’s where church interferes with the state. If a government decides to take religion out of schools it will die and the priests know that very well. That’s why they will never allow it.

All we need is a brain shake, like milk shake only without the milk.

No. I don’t want to meet anyone through a chat even if they send me their photo. I have already met a lot of jerks in real life to be blond enough to meet guys from Irc too (I use the word blond cause there is a popular belief that blond girls have a lower IQ).

It is fun to see them try though. Sometimes with stupid arguments like that they are bussinessmen, that they have a Mercedes or a BMW car or a house with a view and swiming pool. Who cares? Others (the most fun to play with) try to impress by saying that they are hackers, smart, good-looking or both. They all argue that they are simply trying to find a woman through Irc because they do not have the time to go out. Seriously, do they think we buy that? They are naive if the think we are naive enough to pay any attention to what they are saying.

Most of the guys, or girls for that matter, who search for a mate through Irc are married, but still lonely people that want a chance to avoid their horrifying reality. Or just chickens who are only bold behind their screen.

There are awesome people too. But they know better than to look for a mate there. Usually students in other cities or countries, who want some company and someone to talk too. These don’t like private chat and do it rarely. Or people from various communities, like people who play certain games, or go to a certain club for example. Some of them are in real life friends and Irc is a way to keep in touch.

And if you join a chat room with many members, you soon find out that they have one or two really crazy people, one or two doctors, one or two businessmen, one or two fetish lovers, a security guy, a baker, a teacher and so on. Like a small village.

Crazy people are the attraction, of course. You soon know where they live, what medication they are on, their beliefs, everything there is to know really. The channel I join has a guy who believes he is the anti-christ, that he makes music that can drive you crazy (hmm, yeah, blame it on the music) – because satan helps him make it, that he is the reincarnation of Hitler, and other funny stuff. And a woman, about 40 years old, who hates all other women, says that she works for the goverment, but she’s almost all day online, and for no reason at all she can start abusing you verbally, just because she feels like it. I admit, I like laughing at them. Even better when they are both online, you can literally take pop-corn and enjoy they show. Anyway they enjoy some attention themselves, that’s why they are there in the first place.

If you have some conversations with random people, you can see some strange behaviors. For example a muslim who is not allowed to have sex before his marriage, so he wants a non-muslim girl, so that noone finds out. Or racists and war-lovers, who would love to kill citizens of their neighbour countries. Or just racists who believe they are harder, better, faster, stronger, to (ab)use a title of a Daft Punk song. Turns out, everyone thinks the same. Every single nation believes it is better at least from another one, if not above all others. So why the fuss? Scary thing about the whole story is they are not afraid to say it. They feel proud. But then of course, they are behind a screen.

Endless fun are the cyber-lovers. They like to ask questions like, are you alone, what are you wearing and what colour is your pyjama. Even if you tell them that you are in an internet-cafe or at your living room with your parents and grandparents they keep asking. They just don’t give up. I mean, come on, download a porn movie. It’s not that difficult, and you can use it many times.

So don’t waste your time, go out, flirt, enjoy the whole process. That’s what love is all about anyway. We all eat McDonalds now and then but there is nothing like a home-made roast. You have to put a little effort in things to enjoy them. Plus every time you think you have convinced her, remember that she may be laughing at you. Alone or with friends.

When I was a teenager a great Greek politician died. She was also a singer and an actress, amongst other things. She is mostly famous for her passionate performance at “Never On Sunday”, a movie made by Jules Dassin. But she was also famous for her eager to bring back to Greece the marbles of Parthenon, or the so called Elgin marbles. Melina Merkouri was the only Greek politician, as far as I am concerned, who ever fought for them. Since then nobody has expressed any kind of interest in bringing them back. If it weren’t for her, I probably wouldn’t have ever heard about them.

Since her death, I wanted to visit the British museum and see them. What puzzled me then and still puzzles me now is why I had to go to England to see them. They belong to the Acropolis. And the Greeks never gave permission for the marbles to leave the country. It was the Ottomans who did, supposedly, because it has never been proved. You can read more about them at wikipedia.

Anyway, I saw them there, in a good condition and environment. Along with other unique pieces of art, including the Rosetta Stone and countless others from all over the world.

There was one section closed in the museum, with Greek exhibits, because as an employee explained to us, they lacked staff. I went all the way to London to see my stolen items, and I couldn’t because they had no staff. And I say mine, because I am a Greek too, all these artifacts and bricks belong to me and all Greeks.

I understand and respect the policy of the museum to not charge you with a fee for getting in. That is really very kind of them. But if I go there to see my heritage, I really want to see it. And it would be unfair to pay too. No matter the price, it would be unfair because none of these items really belong in there and if they can’t keep them, they’d better send them back to their homes.

Then I thought, it really is amazing to go into a building and see thousands of years of history in one day. I would never be able to travel to all these cities and visit them in their natural environment. It would take a lifetime and loads of money.

But on the other hand, if you had built the Acropolis, you would want it to stay there. You chose the exact spot and made the perfect plan. And what you made, makes your country great and unique. Especially for the Greeks, we have no present and I doubt that we have any future. All we have is a glorious past. You can’t move it wherever it suits you.

But I think it’s the same for other countries too. One of my dreams is to visit Egypt. I don’t want to visit empty pyramids. I want to see museums in the pyramids themselves with all their content. It’s like stripping one country of it’s history. And that is totally unacceptable, but money buys everything. I can’t think of any other reason why some countries accepted to sell their history.

As much as I loved the British museum I think every country has the right to keep it’s glorious past and it would bring them much more money from tourism in the long term.
