<p style="text-align: justify;">It&#8217;s been a while since I&#8217;ve posted anything on this blog, sorry about that ! Since my last post I&#8217;ve discovered some wonderful composers that I never managed to get to listen to but with the ease of use of <a title="Spotify" href="https://play.spotify.com/user/1155722979">Spotify </a>and <a title="Google Music" href="https://play.google.com/music/listen#/now">Google Music </a>and others. It is so easy to find the particular composer that you happen to hear by chance and discover more of there music with ease and less expense of buying an old fashioned cd! Some of my favourites of late are <a title="George Onslow" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Onslow_(composer)">George Onslow</a>, <a title="William Alwyn" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Alwyn">William Alwyn</a>, <a title="Andrzej Panufnik" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrzej_Panufnik">Andrzej Panufnik</a> his daughter <a title="Roxanna Panufnik" href="http://www.roxannapanufnik.com/">Roxanna Panufnik</a> , <a title="Philip Sawyers" href="http://philipsawyers.co.uk/">Philip Sawyers</a> and <a title="Christopher Ball" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_Ball">Christopher Ball</a> to name just a few. I hope to play the above mentioned composers on my radio show which of course will be podcasted here.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">On this weeks Classical Sounds  there&#8217;s old and new music  by <a title="JS Bach" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Sebastian_Bach">JS Bach</a>, <a title="William Walton" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Walton">William Walton</a>, Mozart and more. I&#8217;ve music by one of my favourite composers of late <a title="Hans Gál" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_G%C3%A1l">Hans Gál</a> which is about 30mins into the show. I&#8217;m featuring two Irish composers the familiar <a title="John Field" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Field_(composer)">John Field</a> and the contemporary composer <a title="John Kinsella" href="http://www.cmc.ie/composers/composer.cfm?composerID=75">John Kinsella</a>. Plus a wonderful recent cello concerto by a composer who is not widely known to some music reviewers but who&#8217;s music can be quite tuneful he&#8217;s called Philip Sawyers.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">You can listen to just the music that I played on the embedded spotify link or the entire show on the mixcloud link below.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="line-height: 1.5;">On this weeks Classical Sounds with Andrew Newman I&#8217;ve something old by Beethoven, something retentively new with music by </span><a style="line-height: 1.5;" title="Ola Gjeilo" href="http://olagjeilo.com/">Ola Gjeilo</a>. <span style="line-height: 1.5;">He is a US based Norwegian composer who seems to concentrate on choral music which is very </span>approachable and melodic.<span style="line-height: 1.5;">  I&#8217;m continuing to discover the great music of Hans Gál, a short fugue written when he was in his 90th year! For you Gálites out there it&#8217;s about 25 minutes into the show.</span></p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">On this week&#8217;s show I thought I&#8217;d play actual popular classical music for a change with 2 slight exceptions, the first being the Double Violin concerto by Bach, and the second being music by a Viennese born composer called <a title="Hans Gál" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hans_G%C3%A1l">Hans Gál</a> , whose music I&#8217;m a little obsessed with lately!</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Add a comment below if you&#8217;d like to hear other obscure music.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">On this weeks Classical Sounds programme I&#8217;ve music by which range from the early <a title="baroque" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baroque_music">baroque </a>to almost contemporary . Starting with with music by <a title="CPE Bach" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Philipp_Emanuel_Bach">CPE Bach</a> the second son of the great <a title="JS Bach" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Sebastian_Bach">JS Bach </a>and also a great composer in his own right. I&#8217;ve been listening to a lot of music by the Bach sons of late and you probably will be hearing more of their music over the next few weeks! Also music by Haydn which i reviewed in my <a title="previous post" href="http://irishpianoman.com/?p=400">previous post</a>. The very young Mozart also appears with music written when he was 11!</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><span style="line-height: 1.5;">Wishing you all a Happy New Year and all the best for 2014! I&#8217;ve been a little lazy with my blog, and </span><span style="line-height: 1.5;">haven&#8217;t got around to writing anything substantial recently, so I&#8217;m making it a new year resolution to be more proactive about it!  But for today though, my podcast is a little different than normal. In 2006 I visited Vienna for the first time and made a documentary while there. We went to various places like the <a title="Mozart House Musuem" href="http://www.mozarthausvienna.at/en/">Mozart House Museum</a>, <a title="St. Stephen's Cathedral " href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Stephen's_Cathedral,_Vienna">St. Stephen&#8217;s Cathedral </a>and <a title="Haus Der Musik" href="http://www.hausdermusik.at/en/2.htm">Haus Der Musik</a> and other places besides. Most of this programme was made in the Mozart House where I was given a guided tour. </span></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This programme is, as I said, a little different, more of a documentary than my usual show. I hope you find it interesting.</p>
