Just for a bit of change, we decided to take our work to the park. One of our science lessons was about the skeletal system. Big brother's x-rays from a few years ago came in handy. To celebrate the first day of fall, we did a fall scavenager hunt. We split into two teams. Each team had a list. We ventured into one of our national parks... where we found all kinds of treasures...

Today is International Talk Like A Pirate Day. (Read more about it here.)In honor of such a holiday, we had a pirate themed weekend.Friday, we hit the library to check out some books on pirates. (Please forgive the quality of the first two pics. We practiced sight words on the porch on one of the outdoor chalkboards.We learned the 7 continents.Sort of. Almost.We studied our five senses starting with our sense of sight to examine those taste buds we keep hearing about.And even with all that studying, we still had time for tea.

We are officially public schooling at home'ing this year. Most of my kids are enrolled in ARVA and we're going to try home education again.I found this cute idea and had to make my own.Really these could be made for next to nothing. All you need are some small, smooth pebbles and a sharpie/paint pen. I opted to just buy a package of decorative river rocks for $1 and $1 package alphabet stickers.
