Clicking Some Sense During Holidays With SEO - Loving It

Ahhh yes, the school holidays. It has already reached the middle of the school holidays and Christmas would be just around the corner. Well I don't celebrate Christmas though, but since growing up in the city surrounded by various cultures/religions, you could say that I celebrate almost all the holidays there is here in Malaysia!

Getting back to the story, been so busy for the last couple of months with various on-line and off-line projects, I did not had the time to update my blog. Even my common e-mail inbox was stuffed with trash, I mean goodies! Why?

Just a recap, a few months back, I helped out a friend of mine on a small project. Designing and providing some ads for her Paid-To-Click (PTC) campaigns. The details you could find it here on my old post. So I had to register with the PTC website which was ClixSense, just to have a glimpse in what angle and strategy we could offer in the early design implementation stages for the ad campaign.

Well, making my friend's ad was one thing, joining Clixsense was another. Amazingy until today we have been receiving funds on a regular basis. That's something odd, as we never had the time to do some marketing campaign on our own - apart from two simple "odd-written" blog posts which you could read it here in our blog.

Coincidence, maybe? Luck, we're not sure. But fact is, how the power of writing (from the heart) without much thinking, is a living proof. During the early stages, we just wanted to keep ourselves updated on our works, but now it seems like we're cashing in on it too.

Here's some of the latest e-mail transfers received in November, normally between 5-10 days, close to 3 digit USD and we're receiving the same amount consistently (also depending on working days too). As you may know, these funds can be easily transferred from Clixsense via Paypal, Liberty Reserve and Payza (I forgot Payza's previous name) to your account. Regular Clixsense members (Free Account), will usual clear their claims at the minimum USD 8 and for premium members like me (I think now they call us sponsors), minimum pay out is USD 6.

I have to give credits to SEO and SERP's though. It seems that my 2 pages for Clixsense PTC odd-like-campaigns, had more clicks for the past few months - 8 weeks after published to be exact, sitting consistently at top pages that is. I'm not going to disclose to you for which keyword/keyword phrases (as of yet...), I'll let you guys find out (haha). Drop by the articles and I'll bet you it is that easy to find out what was the keywords used... There goes the power of SEO...

Ideal Content Writing Length After Recent Search Engine Algorithm Changes

Blog writers and website owners are still fighting out, what would be the ideal content/article word length for search engines? Well, this has been continuously debated in webmasters forum, but recent search engines algorithm changes had a bit of a turn around.

Experienced by a Google webmaster member, his news niched website/blog pages has plumbed in ranking with search engines, especially Google. The changes was, after much consideration from his users, opting for short descriptive published articles, will improve on web visit -.it did! Articles published in 200-300 words had a major role in increeasing unique visits to his website.

But the downside, he saw a lot of his web pages (news) slowly plumbed rank in search result pages (SERP's). It seems like long lengthy articles have that edge with search engine robots nowadays. Was it due to the recent algo changes or just pure coincidence?

As I recall, search engine webmasters have never concluded in a certain amount of words for an ideal article or content. But a recent dig which leads me to one video by Google webmaster which explains 300-500 words count for an article/content would be a fair amount. So, this could be our basic rule to settle for.

Then, it comes to your dilemma - please your avid readers/visitors (short contents/articles) or please search engines and get ranked pages? As we have experienced working with various small business website owners and individuals through the internet, it must come to a balance - short and long published contents.

Balance your content pages between short and unique articles whilst publishing long and full of informative posts in between. As we've experienced, most of our articles which were more than 500 word count stood steadily ranked in SERP's, especially after the recent Google algo changes. We can safely assume that in between 500-1000 word per article/content should play a major role nowadays with search engines.

Internet users today are not like yesterday. Users are searching information and with good and quality resources, it would definitely give that edge for your long and lengthy info articles. A plus point too when SERP's ranked your contents pages and boost more click through to your website/blog.

Which comes to our conclusion, you can have options for your website/blog strategy nowadays and more strategically. Keeping short and simple for unique visitors (pleasing advertisers and loyal readers) or having rock solid pages ranked in search engines with long and lengthy information articles. You can easily isolate and determine which strategy to implement for a certain topic that you wanted to publish and gain that extra leverage.

Well, like you've read before, writing contents is not enough though, basic optimisation techniques should be applied too! Website technical aspects, socializing and building quality and healthy links to you websites would also bring a major impact in SERP's.

One thing for sure, now it is much easier to consider how long is an appropriate word count for your web pages/articles which will please everybody.

Redirected Links

Links With Parameters

This is another trick done by directory developers/admin. Again, same concept with redirecting and no-index method, it will only boost the directory exposure and leaving your website links at bay. A sample link from a directory with too many parameters would be - http://www.thewebdirectory.com/link.php?u=23&as=2323434324&as=23423asfsfas &pw=32433.

It has been said that most search engines do not index pages with too many parameters in the url or place less value on links residing on such pages. A simple test, just hover your mouse on a certain link in the directory, right click and copy the url. Try pasting it on your favourite browser. If the results like above, move on!

There are more ways to determine if a directory is friendly and useful for your on line link building campaign. It’s tiring though, but the results sometimes comes in the short run, but mostly it will take effect in the future. So, why not start now, and see what's the result would be.

EEPROM Re-Setter Service Tool For Canon MP Model Printers

Canon MP Series AIO Printer Common Errors

Yet again another Canon AIO EEPROM re-setter tool for canon printer users. This is an upgraded version form the later Canon service tool re-setter we had here in our previous tutorial and troubleshooting guide, and still in working order.

Basically we are actually using this EEPROM service tool for our friends MP series All-In-One printers. Sometimes, it's just luck on your side, if the later don't work, there's always an option.

This is due to certain personal computers software setting, which some how does NOT communicate properly with the later EEPROM service tool.

I've also had the chance to run this service tool on Canon MP250 and Canon MP270 printers and worked superbly. As you all know, Canon 270 model is the later version of Canon 250 AIO printer which was in the market since 2009. The only difference is the change of outer casing and slightly higher DPI for printing output

You can download for FREE the Canon MP EEPROM re-setter service tool here which I purposely label "2012", to make sure that this tool is still in working order. It is located in our files repository with Mediafire. The service tool has a slight change with the user interface from the previous reset service tool, but the steps and procedures for using it is similar.

You can find the full tutorial on how to reset your Canon AIO printer EEPROM here, if you have the errors which opt for EEPROM resetting. As you might know, this tool is for the below purposes only:-

To clear EEPROM and reset the printer "memory".
To clear ink absorber counter and error display.
Test your cartridge ink printing errors from PC
Test your paper feed error from PC.
To clear warning window at PC due to low ink levels.

Canon MP250 AIO Printer model

Again, this tool does NOT clear your blinking light display due to low ink levels. There's none anyway! If you are using the addition Canon ink refills set, just dismiss the errors. The printer will run and start printing again by clicking "Resume" once the pop out warning window indicate low ink levels . Bare in mind, always check your refill ink levels in making sure the inks feed continuously to the cartridge. I used it, and it took me months to a year not changing the Canon AIO ink cartridges.

This EEPROM service tool is quite useful, especially by bypassing the printer "memory" for the given errors. Canon MP Series AIO printers is not a fully advance or "computerised" printer system, which is why the printer is one of the most purchased and used through out the world. Lots of spare parts and higher dpi output (you can print quality photos on photo papers easily), that is why it is the most preferred printer for home or for your small business. And it's damn cheap too!

Before you can start your advance toubleshooting methods, like EEPROM clearing and ink cartridges Error 05 chveats, sometimes these simple steps can do good, So, let's take a stroll on that matter.

Guide to totally drain power (electrical current) from your Canon AIO printer.

Turn off your Canon AIO printer.
Unplug the power cable socket from the printer.
Press the power buttons and hold for 5 seonds (or more) until the green display light turns off.
Insert your power cable and see if the errors still occurs at your printer display panel.
Your Done!

Guide to switch your printer to Service or Maintenance Mode for Canon AIO Printers MP series.

Turn off your Canon AIO printer.
Press and hold the printer service button (image of screwdrivers)
While still pressing the service button, press and hold your printer power button.
While holding the power button - release the Service button and press that button 2 times.
Then your Canon printer will be running for a while and the display panel will show a number "0".
If the display is "0", your printer is in service/maintenance mode and you can continue through the steps for EEPROM troubleshooting here.
But in certain cases - while at service/maintenance mode, switch off your Canon printer by pressing the power button. (by bypassing to service/maintenance mode, it sometimes can override the printer errors)
If pressing the power button does not work, pull out the power cable or turn off the power socket - This is due to certain Canon AIO models bypasses the power button during service/maintenance mode.
Now you can turn on your Canon printer normally and see if the steps above have somehow bypasses the errors occurred.

Well, we were quite busy, with our current projects in Sabah, so as we reached Kuala Lumpur, a few cup of coffees and crunch time blog walking. Hello world and welcome to our never ending journey of Search Engine Optimisations-SEO. For all you blog owners and writers who, somehow just came out from the cave, now here this, Where's your articles. Don't tell us that you have finger cramps due to many X-box games. Start now. At least have a decency to promote, no, better yet, prove that Eyriqazz vs Denaihati battle challenge 2012 is not for the Otai's. And we will, eventually, will see the possible fall of a Titan.

Yes. It's look like it's going its way. Will it be the fall of an SEO Titan? Will it be his last opportunity to slap everybody on their tushies? The website's name says it all. Earncents.Com. Yes. Earning lots of cents only. It is supposed to be named EarnDollars.com or EarnRinggit.com or better yet EarnSnails.Com. And no wonder why his domain is that slow. Probably too many Paypal/Payza exchanges behind the scene. And no wonder too, why Google kick'ed his website's behind. And no wonder he is called Titan, named after the Greek gods who like to eat "cendol".

We've managed to read some of Titan's articles but sadly, because during our reading time frame, we were on a Malaysian dongle (so slow but yet so far). At least we manage to read through some of his newest articles, especially a three (3) part Eyriqazz vs Denaihati series, for the Google Malaysia Search Engine Battle Challenge 2012 brought to you by Eyriqazz.Com. A slow as Titan's website can be, it was good thing that the fonts came out first, so we had the time to read through what he was actually wanted say.

Speaking about Titan's, we are seeing a mix of fresh new bloggers with the Otai's. And their's even a blog named after the contest, Eyriqazz vs Denaihati who is slowly yet steadily crawling to the front. We are not sure, that the named blog, is one of the organiser's crony, or 'share partners' but we know this, the Otai's confirmed putting up their game faces, as yesterday Wikileaks provided an exclusive image on a plot to shove off the leaders and top spot makers. (view image here) And you can see, there was a few tweak-ings and G Pluses where blogger-prenuette yanmieonline.com took the No.1, for just a few hours before CikTom took it back near midnight.(and you probably know who was behing yanmieonline) And most of the otai's blogger have also tweakked like it was never before.

Why do we mean by magicians? Hello world. It is quite amazing how writing skills and SEO techniques was put to a challenge when 2 (two) of the most visited (and highly) rated Malaysia blog-gers was put head to head in a challenge dubbed Eyriqazz VS Denaihati. It's a case of student versus teacher, the apprentice vs the sifu, the typist versus the author. What a way to start of August 2012 for the blogsphere scene in Malaysia.

What is the contest all about? Well, since Denaihati and Eyriqazz has built a reputation of their own (and I'll detail out later), both of these bloggers share the same niche, article entries and writing techniques, in my point of view. And to top that off, commenter for their articles can reach basically from 50 to don't know how many, a day in average. Both share the same blog community which I suspect was the major factor of their prominent existence. What do you aspect as both of these blog-gers are very active in conducting workshops, SEO seminars, events, outings and the list goes on and on.

Frankly speaking, I have never met these two powerhouse Malaysian blog-gers, but I've read many of their achievements, articles, outings, travel-logs and many useful blog-ging SEO tips and tricks. Many fellow blog-gers benefited on their teachings and has made a name for themselves too. One must wonder, how long until these blog-gers managed to become of state? Well, one proclaimed started blog-ing in 2009 and the other in 2007. But whatever it is, for those who just started to blog, be patient please. Like I always said, Rome is not built in a day and Mount Rushmoore is not carved in a year.

Why so special about these two? I have only one answer. The power of blog-ging the RIGHT way and the amount of traffic like the traffic jams in Kuala Lumpur during office hours. Both of these blog-gers are ranked amongst the best traffic flow improvements by Alexa every minute, hour and day, for a social/lifestyle/net-preneur niche blog. Who said Malaysian's do not read nor have the writing skills. It is not about being popular, but strategically putting themselves at top pages in Google Malaysia search engine. And I'll bet that they both have handful of company portfolio's under their sleeves. Must confront and ask them one day.

So, which one is the teacher and which is the master? Through my brief yet fruitful article reading and comments scrolling, Eyriqazz is the student while Denaihati is the mentor. Build Clixsense Ads Optimise Organic Web Visitors

Hello world. I've just received a request from a friend to optimise her ads for Clixsense with her FREE 1,000 credit advert spaced she received. As you all know, if you're a PREMIUM member with Clixsense you'll recieve credits to optimise your web or maybe future affiliation for the program. Because of the design background I had for the past few years (not optimising my skills that much lately), it was crunch time for me to think deep finalised the brief and requirements.

As you all know, a PREMIUM member for Clixsense, you'll have the opportunity to advertise with them for the pay to click program. You can choose from 4 packages, listed by the Clixsense team, and to me by looking at it, fairly cheap for a 10 to 30 second ad. (Imagine the amount you have to pay for a real ad). We went clicking and viewing the ads that Clixsense offered for PREMIUM account (15 ads to be exact), and find what style of ad would be more appealing (managed to redeem a few bucks though).

So, to conclude our viewing endeavour, we had few ideas based on the simplest mistakes the existing ads was there for viewing. I'll like to share with you a few ideas I had and I'm implementing to my friends future ad design for Clixsense ad approval. So here goes.

Sample minimal ad style page

First the Click Advertise Package.

Well, after viewing the packages list, we opt for the suggested Standard package by Clixsense which was for 500 clicks (we could keep the remaining balance for future ad projects). Well, it look decent enough when Clixsense charge only 0.0019 cents per click for 30 seconds. Anyway we can start to see how will the blog traffic improve and gain future online customers. Anyway, she's selling women's accessories. Why do you want to advertise the same affiliate programs and beat your competitors. Join them and use it to your advantage. Just sell like you use to.

Second the Market.

As you all know, the 2 Million plus members of Clixsense does have the initial buying power. Why do I say that? Yeah, what else, a good place to sell is where the place that produce money right? From our initial survey, it is possible, almost 60-70% of Clixsense standard members are either students, houswife/husband, unemployed or just purely working from home. The rest are people who just want to make a few bucks here and there.

We decided to keep it in the middle. As Clixsense members average payout is at USD 50 to USD 100 a week, (minimum payout USD 8 for standard and USD 4 for Premium) that is fair enough. So, we decided to feature my friends product within that price range and products which slightly lower (since that she sells at Ringgit Malaysia rather than USD). So, we finalised the product list even with the product short and optimised description.

Third the Ad Setting and Layout.

30 seconds? How to cramp everything in 30 seconds? Even a car can be hijacked in 60 seconds, and still no one can realize it. So the key here, we want Clixsense members to see sniplets of the products, especially the featured items to sell with pricing. We want them to come back to the website later to browse and shop. So, the normal technique is to catch the human left brain. Colour, optimised images, comfortable typesetting and a clean focused layout. No bling-bling, video and nothing of such. Anyway your ad once click will be transfered to each of Clixsense members profile page. They could refer back anyway.

So, overall design, white spreadsheet of course. What do you aspect for 30 seconds, the clock will just run out on you right after loading the ad page. We need speed and quick load because we pity a few ads that was still loading and the clock counter just ran over them. Next thing is pray that the server kick some power during the ad campaign. We went for browser friendly fonts, we re-optimised the selected images and set the styling like the minimal designer would have done. Easy for the eyes, the direct approach, at least a welcome scene for future Clixsense viewers. So the ad design we could put it live not only for Clixsense, but we could install it together with her blog as pop-ups. That's a 2 in 1 for ya.

Last words.

The design is still on its way and we will definitely keep you posted. Just to share a few info. As I browse through Clixsense websites, the Preimium offer for USD17 a year (roughly about RM 55.00) is by far the cheapest than their competitors. And the best thing you don't have to rent advert space and such. If you register with an affiliation to a Clixsense Premium account member, you actually benefit more than the people registering under the Standard account. Something me and friend just found out. How to Reset Canon MP198, MP 250, MP258, MP270, MP276, MP496, MP558, MP568 and MP648 All In One Printer.

Hello Canon AIO users. I've received a few e-mails recently regarding troubleshooting for Canon printers. My trouble shooting guide, tips and tricks is based on what I've experienced with. More or less, the tips is still valid, if you have the same or equivelant Canon MP Series printer models, then you could give it a try.

Today, I would like to share with you a more advance troubleshooting guide for your Canon MP Series All In One printer. The Canon Printer MP Series models stated above. I am not sure if it will troubleshoot other MP printer models, but my advise, with a little of Google-ing, by mix match technical specifications with the above printers and yours, if its compatible, why not, have a go.

Why my printer model not listed, but the images displayed looks exactly the same? Well, as Canon printers especially the Canon MP Series AIO printer is available all over the world, it is part of their marketing strategy, which is fairly different between one country to another. Certain countries will have the same model code while others, might have a slight change depending on the added features for that model. So, these printers will have the same outlook but a slightly different features inside. For your info, some of AIO printers uses almost the same internal boards for printing.

EEPROM Reset Tool

This is a reset tool I found during mid 2009 and amazingly, it is still there and ready to download for personal use. This is an EEPROM Clear Tool for Canon MP198, MP 250, MP258, MP270, MP276, MP496, MP558, MP568 and MP648 All In One Printer and also acts as a resetter tool which will reset the basic printer features from your personal computer. Due to the initial design for Canon MP Series AIO printer for home and small office use, the resetter tool was specially developed to facilitate some P-XX ERRORS (cause from extensive printing).

Personally, I've used this resetter tool on Canon MP 250, MP258, MP270 and MP278 AIO printers. But for the rest of the list, you probably have to find out since I've not tested it before. The resetter tool is used for:

Reset black ink counter.
To reset colour ink counter
To reset ink absorber counter
Ink cleaning from PC button
Check paper feed maintenance work from printer
Prevent on screen low level ink warnings during printing jobs on your PC

This reset tool will not do the following:-

Stop the low level blinking at printer
Stop the orange blinking due to paper feed error

Note: There is NO resetting method to stop the low ink level blinking on your Canon MP Series printer. The alarm is designed based on the initial ink cartridge inserted from its first use. Canon MP Series printers uses print counts to check ink levels, not by a special level gauge built at ink cartridge. So, the low ink level blinking can be disregarded if you are using ink refills cartridges.

Step by step to Reset your Canon MP Series AIO Printer

Step 1

Download MP Tool Reset tool ServiceTool_1050.zip (no password required-if ad does not automatically clear, press skip ads top right corner) here and extract. It comes in a .zip file and you do not have to install to your PC. Its safe and runs under Windows Vista, Windows Xp and Windows 7 (All Versions)

Step 2

Entering your printer into service mode.

Turn the printer off if the printer power is on. Remove printer USB cable from your computer.
While the printer is OFF, press and hold the Start/Stop button, if not, on other models press Resume/Cancel button.
While still holding the Start/Stop button or Resume/Cancel button, press and hold the POWER button.
When the POWER LED (green light) is lit, release the Start/Stop or Resume/Cancel button (still holding the POWER button).
While still holding the power button, Press the Start/Stop button or Resume/Cancel button TWICE then Release the POWER button. Wait until LCD printer display 0 (zero) on the printer display counter.
After the display is 0, attach the printer USB cable to your computer, it will detect a new device installed (its normal), and now you can go to the resetting steps.

Step 3

Resetting Ink counter on the Computer
Run “service_tool 1050.exe”. you can download the service tool software from the link given above.

Confirm detected USB-port number on USB port column on your computer.
Click “Main button” on Clear ink counter section. Make sure there are papers in the paper feed because the printer will print after the process is complete.
Click on the “Clik MAIN” button - wait, then "EEPROM Clear" - wait, then "ËEPROM". The printer will print a sample check each time by clicking the previous buttons.

After the steps completed, turn off the printer and then turn printer back on. If printer button does not switch off by pressing once, turn of the power cable. After turning on back again. your printer will automatically be out of service mode and ready for use.

Note: You can try to use its other features during STEP 3 eg. cleaning, check paper feed button, if it is compatible with your printer internal board.

Wordpress for the past 5 months of 2012 has benn an issue with us. I've been the moderator's of 5 of my client's websites (of course withr WordPress platform), is facing serious threats by sophisticated hacking attempts. Coincidence or not, although non of my client's sites have that much of traffic, but in this case, it looks like, somebody is trying to find ways through WordPress security system.

Basically, the attempt launched by these leeches comes in various ways. Out of the 5 troubled sites, below are some of the security issues occurred:

MySQL data attempts
Forced Login and password attempts
The backhole exploiter
Phishing attacks with live backlinks to a bank account (Thanks Google for warning the attempt)
And much, much more.

Most of these attempt comes from unknown places throughout Europe, India and Australia to name a few. Some of the IP addresses are undetectable and most of them with unknown whois records. Wow, it's like a tag team effort just to find ways into a mini site providing contracting services (my client's websites of course.).

It keeps me thinking, if an unknown site like ours (note these sites have not been optimized), so, what will these 'husllers' do with heavy traffic sites or even an SSL secured sites? Although Google will definitely warn you in advance if these situation occurs (we highly appreciate the warning guys), what other options for your WordPress websites to make it secure. After a few discussions and a lot of reading, we concluded on the preferred options for your future security plug-ins..

WordPress Plugins for Security

Your first line of defence in helping out to secure your WordPress websites especially for the script based hacking attempts. With plug-ins, any human based attack on your website will make them extremely difficult to access. Hence securing your files. The more difficult to access your files, the more likelier the attempts would just pass by and they would just move on and trying to find loop holes on other websites. Like any other working people, for hackers, time is money too.

In the market for Wordpress websites, there are a handful of security plug-ins especially for the script based sites, which will in fact protect your website from malicious attacks. Each of these plug-ins, has different methods of operation and use. To select one suitable is basically based on your server/hosting environment, but most to most, these plug-ins will work just fine. Hello world. What are meta tags? Why do I come through a lot of this meta tag thingies while browsing the web? Well, these questions is always in the mind of normal people. But for the geeks in the internet world its pure magic.

Meta tags is actually added to a webpage to make it more visible and recognisable for search engine, e.g. Google etc. Imagine finding a needle through a hay stack. Tough right. That's how search engine find stuff if you enter a certain keyword or phrase in your web browsers. So, meta tags comes as an option for the robot crawlers to fetch and feed to Google's search engine and portray the list of your required keyword or phrase.

Meta tags for a web page, basically consists of 3 key components which is the title, the description and the keyword. It is normally displayed on top of any web pages on your browser window just like a title for a certain document. The meta description is not shown publicly on web browsers but it will be portrayed on your a search engine results. For a meta description, it does not refer to the original content of a certain page.
