Thanks for the Prayers…

They are working for most of us! At this writing, all but Sarah and hubby are on the mend. Daniel never even caught it, so we are very happy about that, too.

I will say, though…that I am somewhat concerned about Sarah. We thought she was getting better. Both she and David caught it on the same day (Saturday). David is now completely better except for his cough. On Tuesday, it appeared that Sarah was getting better and she had a little more zip to her. Tuesday evening, however, the zip was gone and she went to bed very early.

Yesterday and today…the fever has returned and she has spent almost the entire day sleeping. She is also not eating. I wish I knew what her secret best appetite suppressant is because it sure seems to be a doozy.

As I write this, she has been up in bed for several hours already. If she is not better by tomorrow, I may take her back to the DR.

H1N1 Confirmed

After a quick trip to the doctor this morning…face masks and all…we have had h1n1 confirmed.

As of today, everyone but hubby and Daniel have it. This is one NASTY bug, people. If you get it, be prepared to hunker down and kiss good bye at least a week of your life.

Each day, I have been waking up to something new and painful. Today it is my ears.

Online Back Up

As some readers undoubtedly remember, this blog has been the target of several attacks over the last few months. The first one kept returning and returning and finally I traced it to originating somewhere in Siberia! Finally my host helped me stop that attach from continuing. Most recently, the entire blog was brought down and I had to wipe the whole thing clean and start over from scratch. That was very scary…but I learned a lot in the process. That is why services such as free online backup get my attention. Anyone who values what they have online might consider something like this to preserve websites.

Teenage Boys and Tile Backsplashes

I fully admit, the only thought I have put into tiles lately is the though that the tiles I have in my upstairs bathroom on the vanity back splash are needing some serious elbow grease. I think teenage boys are the biggest source of tile abuse. They seem to splatter EVERYwhere. Love them to pieces…but they sure are messy! Thankfully, hubby seems to have a thing for clean bathrooms for some reason…so I can usually count on him getting to this lovely task before I do.

Needin’ Some Blinders

As in…horse blinders to keep me from seeing the horrible state my poor house is in. Clutter is mounting, dust bunnies are multiplying, laundry is almost insurmountable, kitchen is a disaster, refrigerator isn’t THAT bare, but it is bare of fast and easy to eat foods that people can help themselves to. After this is all said and done, I’ll probably be needing industrial strength best eye cream as well because this one is going to put years on me.

Time to Head South

We’ve only been back from Tucson for about a week and a half and already we are all so sick. I’m really thinking we need to get out of this climate and head somewhere warm during the winters. No one needs spine surgery Mexico thankfully, and I don’t think we want to go as far south as Mexico…but somewhere in the southwest would feel so nice from November through March. Every year hubby talks more and more seriously about it…soon perhaps?

Flu Update

It’s going to be a while before I am up to worrying about things such as spring plungers…whatever they may be.

I am popping in to take care of a few posts that cannot wait and then I am back to bed. As of now, everyone seems to be sick except Daniel and hubby. Daniel isn’t home much, so that probably explains that…and hubby is just plain stubborn, so that explains that. Everyone else is in various stages of feeling pretty sick.

Abby and I have been sick since Thursday night. High fevers, head colds, chest colds, body aches, extreme fatigue…I typically stay as far away from the doctor as I can, but I admit that this elephant sitting on my chest is making me think that perhaps a quick visit down the street to our friendly family doc might be in order.

I rarely get sick. Honestly! I am usually the one in the house that soldiers on while those around me drop like flies. Now, in the space of about a month I’ve fallen to shingles and some sort of nasty flu (h1n1?).

The Princess and The Speed Dial

Once upon a time, there was a little princess named Ava. Princess Ava lives way too far away from her “MeeMa.” This little princess has been taught by her mother how to use the speed dial feature on the cell phone. Now that Princess Ava knows how to speed dial and knows which letter “MeeMa” is, MeeMa must make sure that she never assumes the ringing telephone is someone with mere auto insurance quotes. Oh, no no no! Now when the telephone rings, it very likely is Princess Ava calling to tell me something important. Friday, for example, Princess Ava had a brand new bunk bed delivered. On that day, MeeMa missed Princess Ava’s important phone call…but I did receive a very long voice mail instead. Today, MeeMa received an excited telephone call that brought me happily inside for a break from my yard work so that I could hear all about Princess Ava’s trip to the pumpkin patch.

As someone who has long been content to let most phone calls go directly to voice mail, this MeeMa is happily running for the phone these days!

When one thing goes we seem to begin a cascade of things breaking around here. Has anyone else noticed this? We have two printers and seven computers in our home. Does that seem over the top? Maybe…a tad. But except for one, we use them all frequently. In the space of the last month, we now have TWO broken printers and TWO broken computers! ARGH! I started shopping for printers this morning and I think I have narrowed down my choices. Now I just need a fairy godmother to come and wave her magic wand to take care of the order fulfillment and we’ll be set…LOL. Have you priced printers lately? The printers themselves cost next to nothing…but they kill you in ink cartridges. Yuck…
