I do! I love anything with Fabreze in it. It doesn't matter what product you use. In my opinion, it is improved when Fabreze is added to it. Well, that's only slightly exaggerated. However, because fragrance is very important, I love the way my kitchen smells when I clean it with a Fabreze 'laced' product!

Save A Blade

This new, well at least new to me, product, looks like a winner. We don't like having to buy expensive blades for our razors and we don't really like the cheap disposible ones either. This blade sharpener appears to make owning and using an expensive razor worth the cost.

However, my question is: If you use the Save A Blade sharpener, will you ever have to buy new blades again? Will your blades ever wear out? Is the Save A Blade worth the cost?

Rug Doctor

We have family coming in a few days for my husband's birthday celebration. Therefore, this product really interested me. You see, we have a precious little dog that is sometimes housebroken and sometimes is not. Getting my carpets clean before our family arrives is important.

This product really looked like it would do the job. I do have a question though. The Rug Doctor does it's cleaning a it is pulled backwards on the carpet. How hard is it to use then? Does it move forward easily or must it be picked up and placed in position for each backward stoke? Surely not, but this was something about which I was wondering.

Have any of you bought or rented this product? Tell me. Is it worth the cost?

The more I see the Portabook advertised on TV, the more I think it needs to go on my need/want list. This laptop desk has many features that go beyond being a place for our laptops to sit. It has storage for writing tools, CDs, etc. It is adjustable to 5 different positions to accommodate our working situations. It seems to be suitable for holding a book, writing, and computing. I also like the idea that it can become a clipboard!
But don't take my word for it. Let's ask. Hey, Reader! Do any of you out there in blogger land own a Portabook? If so, is it living up to the claims made on the commercial? Is it worth the cost?

Green Pan

It looks great! The Green Pan appears to be a cook's dream. It has a politically correct color in its name--Green! This cookware seems tolerate well extreme heat, and cleans up easily. It has many appealing qualities, and seems to be a good buy.

I am not good at plants. From the looks of my garden this year, I am not good at taking care of any kind of plants, indoors or outdoors. That was why I am fascinated with the Aqua Globe. Can You Be An Agressive Driver and Also Be A Hypermiler? I Think Not!

This tenet of the hypermiling 'movement' really did speak to me. I could be classified as an agressive driver at times. Not an angry driver, you understand....just aggressive. One of the things that I learned from reading about hyphermiling is that aggressive drivers use their brakes much more often than necessary which causes our cars to burn fuel less efficiently resulting in lower MPG.
Becoming a less aggressive driver requires a conscious shift in thinking. In my mind it is called relaxing and not thinking that I have to compete for every open area on the road that I see. It means not being in a hurry. It means being courteous to other drivers, and allowing there to be space between our cars.
This 'hurry up and then brake' mentality costs us money in the form of lower MPG. I'm going to include a quote from the website http://www.hypermiling.com/

"Here's the deal: Drivers apply their brakes between 10 and 25 percent more time than they need to!

Huh??? If drivers leave a big enough buffer between them and the car in front - at least 2 seconds or more - there would be more time to coast before putting on the brakes. And if you see a red light way up ahead, why bother to keep your foot on the gas?

The points to take away from this page:

People who don't leave much space between their car and the car in front use their brakes more often.
Braking turns motion into heat via the friction of the brakes, slowing down your car.
Gas was used by your engine to achieve motion.

So when you apply your brakes, you are turning gasoline into heat instead of using the rest of the motion - by coasting through the space buffer between you and that car ahead, or that red light ahead - that you paid gas money to obtain in the first place."

We have all had them on our cars. Most of the time scratches are accidental part of life. This product promises to fix the scratches on our cars and in our homes 'like magic'. If that is true, then it is certainly worth the $19.95 for all those products and the 'extras' that are free. I do have one question, however. Is the repair of a scratch a permanent or temporary fix? Hypermiling: What Gets Measured Gets Changed

The first and most likely the beginning place for hypermilers is to always know the MPG of your car. Check it every time you fill up. The basic reason for this is that you can't fix what you don't know. What gets measured gets changed.
Checking the MPG on a car is easily done when you fill the gas tank. The first requirement is to keep track of the mileage when you fill your car. By doing that you will be able to know how many miles you went from the last fill up divided by the amount of gasoline you used which equals the miles per gallon of gasoline.
Another way of tracking your car's fuel efficiency is to purchase an MPG meter. which can be pricey, but it givea you immediate MPG of your car as you drive. That way you will know which driving techniques are benefiting your MPG/wallet the most.

It must be understood here that I am a total lay person when it comes to all things automotive. I am a good driver, but has always been slightly aggressive when I drive. As I will share in future posts, aggressive drivers are not fuel efficient drivers and will spend more money for gasoline.
I have begun to notice that more people in my area are driving more slowly. Hmmmmm Hypermiling may be catching on!

Does Everyone Need a Steam Buddy?

I have often thought that having a steamer like this one would be a great addition to my laundry products. Being able to steam out wrinkles and freshen clothes while they are still on the hanger, seems to be much more convenient than the traditional iron and ironing board. I like the idea of being able to freshen up clothes without having to send them to the cleaners.

I am wondering though....and the ad on television doesn't answer this question, neither does the website. How much water does the Steam Buddy hold and how often does it have to be refilled? Is any type of water usable? How long is the cord?

If any of you have answers to these questions, please comment and let us know if it is worth the cost?

Tis the Season to Become a Hypermiler

Driving by the gas stations and seeing the newest high price for gasoline is almost more that I can handle. My thoughts have been, 'somebody has got to do something'! We can not take these prices much longer. However, it is apparent that take them we will because apparently they are not coming down any time soon.
Yes, my driving patternes have changed. I no longer drive into town every day, preferring to cluster my errands into one mega trip. That one thing has lowered our family gas expenditure.
However, a couple of days ago I heard a news report which piqued my interest. Hmmmmm. It seems that there is a way to seriously make a difference in how much we are spending for gasoline. That difference is made by becoming, at least some extent, a hypermiler.
I have done some research and found that some are extending the miles per gallon they are getting in their cars by 100% or more. Apparently the concept of hypermiling began with a man named Wayne Gerdes. This concept has grown with the price of gasoline and is now almost considered a movement, a way of pushing the fuel efficiency in cars to the limit, thereby saving money for the drivers.
I am going to begin a discussion of hypermiling because I have found it to be very interesting and perhaps beneficial to those of us who almost get sick to our stomachs when we have to fill the car. Well, we definitely get sick to our 'wallets'.
I will link some of the more interesting websites I find to this blog. I welcome any comments you may have on this subject. Are you a hypermiler? Has it made a difference in the MPG for your car? Is it worth the effort?

New York Perfect Pizza Kitchen

This product caught my attention this morning as I was getting dressed. It looks like a great kitchen gadget for making pizza. You know the 5th American food group. This set has fourbasic parts: the pizza dough spinner, pizzeria pizza wheel, the professional backing screen and a recipe book. It looks like lots of fun to use and will also make wonderful pizza crust.
Hmmmmm. Downsides to this product? Right now I don't see any. What do you think? Have you bought one? If so, IS IT WORTH THE COST?

NuWave Oven

Just saw it on TV. It looks so easy and efficient. Cooking a frozen steak in 30 minutes and a turkey in a fraction of the time it takes to cook it in a conventional oven, makes this kitchen appliance look very appealing. My most immediate questions are what about mulitcooking (multitasking?) two or three different foods at the same time. They demonstrated cooking a meal of fresh salmon steak and fresh asparagus in 8 minutes. Sounds wonderful. However, is there a problem with opening the oven before it is finished and removing the asparagus? I'm sure that leaving it the entire 8 minutes would overcook it, if indeed this oven cooks as fast as they claim.

This oven has 3 heating systems. Is cooks with conventional heat, convection heat, and infrared head. This enables the oven to cook foods 50% faster and use less energy. There are several optional items that can be purchased for this oven and the website shows they are having a Mother's Day special. Hmmmmmm.

Sooooooo, readers, do any of you have this product? If so, how has it performed for you? Does it clean up easily? Is the meat really tender and juicy? Is it worth the cost?

Shark Steam Mop

It looks great on the infomercial! I must admit that I am fascinated every time I see one on TV. It claims to clean your floors with steam, no cleansing product, just steam. Very impressive. I wonder though how water it holds and whether or not hard water would make a difference in the effectiveness of the steam mop. I also wonder how expensive the cleaning pads are. hmmmmm. How 'bout it, all you good folks out there in bloggerland? What are the pros and cons of this product? Is it worth the cost?

Scrubbing Bubbles Automatic Shower Cleaner

When this first came out, I thought, "Boy, this is for me!" It still looks like it would be a great product to have. I asked a family member who had purchased it, about how well it worked and her reply was, "Well, not as well as I would like it to." Hmmmmm
I still haven't bought it, but when the new versions with the two directions of cleaning came out, I began to reconsider buying it. I wonder though, does it actually clean the tub well? What about shower curtains? Our shower curtain must hang on the inside of the shower to keep the water from dripping on the bathroom floor. How does the shower cleaner clean the side of the tub if the shower curtain is in the way?

I saw this product for the first time this past Saturday morning. The Shark is apparently a cordless vacuum cleaner. According to the website the battery of the Shark has 90 minutes of running time, and it has a bottom emptying dust tray which appears to be easy to use. I am intrigued by the hinged handle that allows the Shark to vacuum under furniture easily. It weighs less than four pounds and has a 13" wide brush roll. Something else that I have never seen before is a side brush for picking up dirt along walls. Now that sounds great!

I am always interested in products that make cleaning bathrooms easier. Aren't you? Well, this products apparently can be used in the kitchen as well as the bathroom! Double benefits! The TV commercials about how well this product works are very convincing, and it is tempting to purchase one. However, I do have a few questions. Is it really convenient? It looks like changing the brushes is fairly simple, but how often do you have to stop cleaning tiles, for example, to clean the brush? How long does it take to charge the battery? Is it worth the cost?

Calphalon Silicone Bakeware

It looks unbelievable to me. How on earth could this pink (that's the color I've seen)plastic be suitable for baking? Why doesn't it melt? How is it so easy to clean? The truth? I really don't know. I do know a few things, however. Calphalon is made from high quality silicone and it can be safely heated to 475 degrees. It is flexible, yet easily handled when hot. Baked foods come out easily, making it a joy to use. My daughter and son-in-law gave me a couple of these products for Christmas, then I bought the nostick baking mat myself. Billy Mays sell many many products on TV. Mighty Putty seems to be an amazingly strong substance which dries to a hard finish. It seems to be versatile and adaptable to a variety of tasks and projects. My husband is skeptical, believing that Mighty Putty could not live up to all the claims made by Mr. Mays.
