The “War on Terror” is said to have begun on September 11, 2001. But is it possible that the war began before this date? Some people point to U.S. government complicity in the events of 9/11, either by not doing enough to prevent it, or—more ominously—by actively planning for it. Whatever the truth may be, there is plenty of conjecture that what happened on that day doesn’t add up to the popular version of the events. What is not in dispute is that public support for the War on Terror was far greater after these attacks than it would have been on September 10, 2001. Could it be that the attacks were allowed to happen to create public clamor for a war that would otherwise have been inconceivable? Many people have pointed to the possibility that 9/11 was a clone of Pearl Harbor, an attack on the U.S. that was deliberately allowed to take place in order to further the war aims of a president.
But a more sinister comparison has been made by those skeptical of the motives of the Bush administration. They claim that what happened was more akin to Adolf Hitler’s burning of the Reichstag, the German Republic’s parliament, on February 27, 1933. Hitler blamed the fire on Communists plotting against the state. But historians widely accept the view that a member of the Prussian interior ministry set fire to the building
deliberately, on Hitler’s orders. Immediately after the fire Hitler announced an emergency decree which suspended the normal civilian rights and liberties of citizens and gave the government enormous authority to impose order.

This was the beginning of the end for democratic values and the rise of Nazi dictatorship. On October 3, 2001 Congress approved Bush’s Patriot Act, a similar bill which reduced the civil liberties of Americans and allowed the detention without trial of anyone the government deemed a potential “security threat.” Furthermore, the public and political pressure for retaliation for the attacks was intense, and neatly tied into the agenda of the “Project for a New American Century.” This was a strategic document put forward by a group of neoconservatives in September 2000 outlining a new strategy for American global dominance in the twenty-first century. This think tank included Dick Cheney, the vice president; Donald Rumsfeld, secretary of defense; Paul Wolfowitz, his deputy; Jeb Bush, brother of George and governor of Florida; and Lewis Libby, the leader of Bush’s 2000 election campaign team now working in the White House.

The most intriguing part of the document concerns the readjustment of American forces across the globe. The report states that only an incremental approach can be taken to this radical restructuring owing to political and public constraints, unless there was “some catastrophic and catalyzing event like a new Pearl Harbor.” Despite all this, however, there is still the question of how such an elaborate attack could have been prepared and executed by the government and its agencies without the media becoming deeply suspicious. The most likely explanation is that the attacks were planned by Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda but that U.S. intelligence agencies did not act upon the information they received to adequately prevent them.

Evidence of their failure, whether deliberate or through incompetence, has been widespread following Congressional investigations but without any smoking gun. Furthermore, the CIA and New York City counterterrorism offices were based in Building 7 of the World Trade Center and were therefore destroyed, along with any potentially incriminating evidence. The suspicions about intelligence are just part of the growing mistrust about the events that day, which reverberated right around the world. On the day of the attacks geological surveys in NewYork recorded the greatest amount of seismic activity as occurring immediately before the Twin Towers collapsed, and not when they hit the ground.

This has led many people to the conclusion that the towers were blown up with explosives underneath the building and not by the enormous volume of fuel that ignited after the two airliners exploded; a belief reinforced by the way the towers imploded inwards instead of collapsing sideways.

The evidence at the Pentagon also raises profound questions. Why was the Pentagon hit on the one side of the building that happened to be empty on the day of the attacks owing to refurbishment? Why was there no visible evidence of a destroyed airliner among the debris? Why were no fighter jets scrambled to intercept the hijacked aircraft until after the third plane had hit the Pentagon, despite it being a legal requirement in the U.S. for fighter jets to be scrambled whenever a commercial airliner veers significantly off its flight path? How was so much information known about the hijackers and released to the media by the FBI so soon after the attacks, including details on a passport miraculously found among the rubble of the Twin Towers?

These question marks raise serious doubts about the official version of what happened on September 11. Many are cynical of the report published only a year prior to that date; a report which would revolutionize America’s role in the world toward ultimate military, political and social hegemony, but one which would require a catastrophic event. These cynics cannot accept that the occurrence of just such an event can be no more than coincidence. Can it also be mere coincidence that those who authored the report are responsible for failing to prevent the attack and for coordinating their desired global response?

Unsolved Mysteries of World: The Curse of Tutenkhamun

In the late nineteenth century a young English archaeologist by the name of Howard Carter was convinced that the remains of the ‘Boy King’, the pharaoh Tutenkhamun, lay undisturbed somewhere in Egypt. Carter first arrived in Egypt in 1891, and eventually secured funding for his archaeological digs from the wealthy Lord Carnarvon in 1917. After five years of little success, Carnarvon gave Carter one last season of financial support. On 4th November 1922, Carter’s team found a step cut into the rock floor of the Valley of the Kings. As they dug and removed the covering material, they discovered a set of steps that ended at a door inscribed with the name ‘Tutenkhamun’.

Carter ruled that they would do no more digging until Lord Carnarvon reached the site, and immediately sent a telegram back to Britain. Carnarvon travelled to Egypt and together he and Carter entered the tomb. They discovered a fake room, a storage room and then the burial chamber.

Unlike other pharaohs, Tutenkhamun had lain undisturbed since death, and when Carter had peered in by candlelight he discovered an untold array of treasures. The team catalogued and recorded all the items they found, the most impressive of which was the king’s sarcophagus – three interlocking coffins, the last of which depicted the earthly form of Tutenkhamun in beautiful gold metalwork. Inside this lay the mummified body of the Boy King. Everyone celebrated at finding an unplundered tomb, and Carter’s team felt vindicated in their search. However, there were rumours that Carter had removed a sign above the tomb door that read ‘Death shall come on swift wings to him that toucheth the tomb of the Pharaoh’.

In the spring of 1923, Lord Carnarvon was bitten on the neck by a mosquito. He accidentally cut the bite whilst shaving, and the wound became infected. He started suffering fevers and chills and died shortly after in Cairo hospital. It is believed all the lights in the hospital went out when he passed away, and his favourite dog back in England is said to have howled and dropped dead the same instant. The press had a field day, claiming it was the curse of the pharaoh – strangely, when the mummy was unwrapped, it had a bite on the cheek in exactly the same place as Carnarvon’s had been.

Over the next few years, two of Carnarvon’s relatives, Carter’s personal secretary and several others connected with the discovery were said to have died in strange circumstances. Each time one died, the British media linked the death to the curse. Some historians believe that the Ancient Egyptians placed poison inside the tombs to gain vengeance on grave robbers.

Scientists have also advanced many theories in recent years that suggest food placed inside the tomb to help the dead body’s spiritual journey may actually have helped the breeding of microscopic spores which entered the explorer’s lungs when they opened the tomb. This highly volatile fungus, which would have developed uninhibited over 3000 years, then caused terrible fever and fatigue in the bodies it infected. Certainly, Lord Carnarvon, who was not in the best of health, would already have been tired from the long journey out to Egypt and would therefore be more susceptible to infection. But this theory does not totally explain the supposed curse, because very few of the people who were actually on hand died early. Of the 26 people present at the opening of the burial chamber, only six died in the following ten years.

At the sarcophagus opening, 22 were present, of whom six died within a decade, while nobody who helped unwrap the mummified body suffered an early death. Carter himself, at the forefront of all the discoveries, died of natural causes at the age of 66. However, Carnarvon was the one who funded the search, was and the first on site for the opening so it may be possible that Tutenkhamun focused his ire directly on him. It is certainly true that Cairo’s hospital’s lights failed at the time of his death, and the story about his dog has never been disproved.

One final fascinating rumour was that Carnarvon had given Carter a pet canary as a token of good luck to find the tomb. On the day of its discovery, it is said that a cobra – an animal symbolic of pharaohs – ate the bird. In fact, Carter had it kept alive and well, although it did pass into the possession what could be thought of as another kind of snake – he gave it to a bank manager!

Unsolved Mysteries of World: Dyatlov Pass

In 1959 a group of Russian cross-country skiers went on a trek through the Ural Mountains, but they never return. Eventually, their bodies are discovered. The lack of eyewitnesses and subsequent investigations into the hikers' deaths have inspired much speculation. Investigators at the time determined that the hikers tore open their tent from within, departing barefoot in heavy snow. Though the corpses showed no signs of struggle, two victims had fractured skulls, two had broken ribs, and one was missing her tongue. According to sources, four of the victims' clothing contained high levels of radiation. It happened on the east shoulder of the mountain Kholat Syakhl (a Mansi name, meaning Mountain of the Dead). The mountain pass where the incident occurred has since been named Dyatlov Pass after the group's leader, Igor Dyatlov.

The group, consisted of eight men and two women. Most were students or graduates of Ural Polytechnical Institute, now Ural State Technical University: Igor Dyatlov (the group's leader) (23); Zinaida Kolmogorova (22); Lyudmila Dubinina (21); Alexander Kolevatov (25); Rustem Slobodin (23); Georgy Krivonischenko (24); Yuri Doroshenko (24); Nicolai Thibeaux-Brignolle (24); Alexander Zolotarev (37); Yuri Yudin (sole survivor).
On Jan. 28, 1959 they set off on a skiing expedition to Otorten Mountain in the northern Urals. Their route to Otorten, which would see them reaching heights of 1,100m (3,600ft) above sea level, was classed as ‘Category III’ – the most dangerous for the time of year – but the combined experience of the students meant that there was nothing unusual in their undertaking such an expedition. Yury Yudin (the only surviving member), fell ill at the last stop before their destination and left the group. Little did he know it would be the last time he saw his friends alive.

On 31 January, they reached the river Auspia, where they set up a base at the edge of the highland area, leaving equipment and food there for the return journey. From here, they began climbing the pass toward Otorten on 1 February. For whatever reason – most likely bad weather conditions causing them to become lost – they found themselves on the slopes of the mountain Kholat Syakhl at a height of just below 1,100m (3,600ft). Here, at around 5pm, they pitched their tent for the night, although by going just 1.5km (almost a mile) down the mountain they could have found shelter from the harsh elements in a forest.

Their last diary entries show that the students were in good spirits; they even produced their own newspaper – the Evening Otorten – a typically Soviet way of group bonding. The next day, they planned to continue on to the mountain, just 10km (six miles) to the north, before returning to their base camp. Dyatlov was supposed to send a telegram back to the Ural Polytechnic Institute, where the skiers set off from, on February the 12th. This was the time the group had expected to be back from their expedition, and sent from Ural town, Vizhai.

According to Yudin, Dyatlov told him (as he was left behind), to expect the group to be a day or two late, just in case. No telegram ever came, and on February the 20th, the relatives of the skiers raised the alarm to the army and the police, who in turn launched a search and rescue team.

On February 26, the searchers found the abandoned camp on Kholat Syakhl. The tent was badly damaged. A chain of footprints could be followed, leading down towards the edge of nearby woods (on the opposite side of the pass, 1.5km north-east), but after 500 meters they were covered with snow. At the forest edge, under a large old pine, the searchers found the remains of a fire, along with the first two dead bodies, those of Krivonischenko and Doroshenko, shoeless and dressed only in their underwear. Between the pine and the camp the searchers found three more corpses—Dyatlov, Kolmogorova and Slobodin—who seemed to have died in poses suggesting that they were attempting to return to the camp. They were found separately at distances of 300, 480 and 630 meters from the pine tree.

Searching for the remaining four travelers took more than two months. They were finally found on May 4, under four meters of snow, in a ravine in a stream valley further into the wood from the pine tree. All, it seems, had fled in sudden terror from their camp in the middle of the night. Casting aside skis, food and warm coats, they dashed headlong down a snowy slope toward a thick forest, where they stood no chance of surviving bitter temperatures of around –30º C (–22º F). At the time, seemingly baffled investigators offered the non-explanation that the group had died as a result of “a compelling unknown force” – and then simply closed the case and filed it as ‘Top Secret’.

After half a century, the mystery remains. What was the nature of the deadly “unknown force”? Were the Soviet authorities hiding something? And, if so, exactly what were they were attempting to cover up? In the intervening years, a number of solutions have been put forward, involving everything from hostile tribes and abominable snowmen to aliens and secret military technology.

Doctors said all five had died of hypothermia. Only Slobodin bore any injuries other than burnt hands: his skull was fractured, although this was not considered to be the cause of his death. An examination of the the other four bodies which were found in May changed the picture. Three of them had fatal injuries: the body of Thibeaux-Brignolle had major skull damage, and both Dubunina and Zolotarev had major chest fractures. The force required to cause such damage would have been extremely high, with one expert comparing it to the force of a car crash. Notably, the bodies had no external wounds, as if they were crippled by a high level of pressure. One woman was found to be missing her tongue.

There had initially been some speculation that the indigenous Mansi people might have attacked and murdered the group for encroaching upon their lands, but investigation indicated that the nature of their deaths did not support this thesis; the hikers' footprints alone were visible, and they showed no sign of hand-to-hand struggle.

Tests of the few scraps of clothing revealed very high levels of radiation. The original chief investigator, Lev Ivanov, described how he took a Geiger counter with him to the campsite on the mountain slope; as he approached, the device started to click rapidly and loudly. Ivanov also revealed that he had been ordered by senior regional officials to close the case and classify the findings as secret.

Evidence found at the campsite indicates the trekkers might've been blinded. Eyewitnesses around the area report seeing "bright orange spheres" in the sky during the same months. And, relatives at the funeral swear the skin of their dead loved ones was tanned, tinted dark orange or brown. And their hair had all turned completely gray.

Some reports suggested that much scrap metal was located in the area, leading to speculation that the military had utilized the area secretly and might be engaged in a cover-up. Yuri Yudin’s theory is that the military might have found the tent before the volunteer rescuers. He said he had been asked to identify the owner of every object found at the scene and had failed to find a match for a piece of cloth that looked like it had come from a soldier’s coat, a pair of glasses, a pair of skis and a piece of a ski.

Yudin had also seen documents that led him to believe that the criminal investigation had been opened on 6 February – 14 days before the search team found the tent. Other proponents of the ‘military cover-up’ version of events go further, and believe the hikers could have been deliberately killed after stumbling upon some kind of military secret. Whatever the military had been testing – and perhaps it had gone disastrously wrong – they hadn’t expected anyone to be in such a remote area in the middle of winter. When they discovered the group of sports tourists, their priority was to ensure secrecy by eliminating any surviving witnesses.

கேரளா, இதற்கு சுமார் 50 கிலோமீட்டர் கீழே,
இடுக்கியில் 1976ல் ஒரு அணையும் நீர்
மின்நிலையமும் கட்டியது. பின்னர் தான்
ஆரம்பித்தன அத்தனை தொல்லைகளும்.

பெரியாறு அணையின் மொத்த கொள்ளளவே
15.66 டிஎம்சி தான்.அதிலும் சுமார் 10 டிஎம்சியை
தான் பயன்படுத்த முடியும்.

ஆனால் இடுக்கி இதைப் போல் 7 மடங்கு பெரியது.
கொள்ளளவு 70 டிஎம்சி.

புதிய அணையினால் அவர்களுக்கு என்ன லாபம் ?
மேலே இருக்கும் பழைய அணையை இடிப்பதால்,
நீர்பிடிப்பு பகுதியிலிருந்து அத்தனை நீரும் நேராக
இடுக்கிக்கு வந்து அதை நிரப்பும்.

சரி நிரம்பட்டுமே. நல்லது தானே !

தமிழ் நாட்டிற்கு தண்ணீரைத் திருப்பி விட முடியாது.
நமக்கு பெரியாறு அணையிலிருந்து நீர் எடுத்து வரும்
பாதை இதை விட உயரத்தில் ஆரம்பித்து, ஒரு கிலோ
மீட்டர் பயணத்திற்கு பிறகு 5704 அடி நீளமுள்ள -
மலையைக் குடைந்த குகை வழியாக திசை மாறி
வந்து பின்னர் கீழே வைகையில் கலக்கிறது.
அணையைக் கட்டிய பிறகு,
இவர்கள் உண்மையாகவே விரும்பினாலும் நீரைத்
திருப்ப முடியாது. மேலும் புதிய அணையிலிருந்து
ஆண்டு முழுவதும் நீர்மின்சாரம் உற்பத்தி செய்ய
நீரை வெளியேற்றிக் கொண்டே இருக்கப் போகிறார்கள்.
எனவே அணை எப்போதுமே முழுவதுமாக நிரம்பி
இருக்காது.தமிழ் நாட்டிற்கு தண்ணீர் நிச்சயமாக
கிடைக்காது.

புதிய அணையினால் தமிழ் நாட்டிற்கு பயன் இல்லை -
புரிகிறது.

ஆனால் பழைய அணை சுண்ணாம்பு அணை -
எப்போது வேண்டுமானாலும் உடைந்து விடும்.

இருந்தாலும் – வெளியேறும் நீர் பெரியாறு
அணையிலிருந்து இடுக்கி வந்து சேர 4 மணி நேரம்
ஆகும். அதற்குள்ளாக இடுக்கியிலிருந்து
தேவையான நீரை வெளியேற்றி விட முடியும் !
எனவே வெள்ளத்தால் பொதுமக்கள் பாதிக்கப்படுவார்கள்

It really seems impossible that any one of you might not know about the Microsoft, but here is 10 facts you didn’t know about this company.
1. It is impossible to create a folder with the name “Con” or “con” on Microsoft operating systems and in case, you attempt to make one with the name C-o-n, you’ll get an error message saying that the drive name is invalid. The more unusual is the sound it makes when you attempt to create such a folder. Why would any name be invalid?
2. Secondly, when “=rand(200,99)” without quotations is entered or typed into Microsoft Word, something equivalent to (I must say) electronic sneeze occurs. If that line mentioned above is entered and then hit the ‘Enter’ key, the document is instantly filled with over four hundred thousand words. Another interesting fact is that when you scroll down the page, the setting has changed, so that you never scroll past a page break Have you observed it before?

3. Bill Gates, the founder and cornerstone of Microsoft officially left the company. Although, it was Bill Gates, who alongside Paul Allen started the company from the ground up. It was many of Bill Gates’ ideas that pushed Microsoft to be the top software company in the World. Now as Bill Gates left Microsoft, so let us all hope for their sake that some of his genius has worn off on the employees of the company.
4. Google challenges the supremacy of Microsoft by offering FREE software on the web some way behind. Now that Google has entered the competition with their free software and much more, now it seems increasingly difficult for Microsoft to keep its hold on its place in the heats and more importantly, the computers of their loyal customers, as now that Google offers for FREE its products as compared to the fairly expensive products offered by Microsoft. Now its time for a need of Bill Gates and his expertise to tackle the situation and proceed further.
5. Microsoft Windows is currently installed on almost over ninety percent of all computers worldwide. This is close to billions of computers. This is a true testament to the framework set for the company by its founders. Furthermore, Microsoft Office makes up a replica of around ninety percent of all office based software currently used on those same computers worldwide. Because of this, Microsoft has been ordered to pay an antitrust fine of four hundred and ninety seven million euros. This fine was ordered in 2004 and paid in 2007. Apparently not all people find it inspiring that Microsoft done so well.
6. Although everyone knows that Microsoft has created the Xbox game system which has people praising all over the internet. Xbox Gaming system is no doubt one of the best gaming system available today. It is not known to everybody, however, that the old Encarta program that was sold on CD for computer has been reincarnated online by Microsoft. In addition to this, the more popular Microsoft Mouse is also prominent. But above all, in competition with the ever popular Apple’s iPod, the Microsoft Zune is an alternate source for MP3 on the go.
7. MSNBC is a child, so to speak, of Microsoft. Up until they were equal owners in the television network. However, afterwards Microsoft decided that it was in its best interest to quit the partnership keeping its fifty-fifty hold over the MSNBC website which is still running strong.
8. Microsoft has been trading stocks since 1986. Whoever decided to buy stock in such a new company back in 1986 would today be very happy at the decision. Microsoft has the third highest stock market capitalization in the united States at a total of two hundred and seventy billion dollars. This puts them easily above and beyond its competitors like Google, Apple and IBM. It is amazing that the margin between companies with such similar products. Google is making a comeback with their aforementioned free software, but Apple may want to think twice before bragging about their own superiority.
9. Microsoft Corporation opened its first research lab in Redmond, Washington back in 1991. Because of this, it was one of the first computer companies to create its own computer science research organization.
10. The name of the company was at first Micro-Soft and was first conceived in a letter written by Bill Gates and sent to his partner Paul Allen. After it was first mentioned it was deemed to be better as one word and was shortened to what we all know today. The first mention of the name was in 1975 and stuck until it was officially trademarked a year later. It seemed that Bill and Paul liked the single word instead of the hyphenated Micro-Soft.
