It's about growing older, honoring friendship and people you care about in the cold of Winter, owning your life in the Winter making it your friend. Yes there is a bit of nationalist pride in the words "pays", "fidèle", "bâtir maison"... But they are not to be singled out and focused on. The song has to be taken as a whole.
