Motorcycling Sports Director - Ignacio Verneda and President of the 2010 ISDE Organizing Committee - Luis Otero made the following statements about their decision. Ignacio Verneda: "This is 100% the correct decision, as in all cases the security and safety of everyone involved with the event is the most important consideration…. Although the risk was only very minimal, we prefer not to take any risk at all. In all cases the decision has been well accepted by the riders, the teams and all those associated with the event.”
Luis Otero: "The organizing committee is extremely sad about this situation, as so far we have enjoyed a fantastic competition. From the start our philosophy was to have fun and for five days everyone has had incredible fun. However due to circumstances beyond our control we have now taken the difficult, but correct decision to cancel the final day……Our main goal has been the security of the riders in the hills, but now the priority is for the authorities to provide security for all the people in the region."
Aubert has now won the E2 class on all five days and was the fastest individual rider.
Organizers presented riders with new challenges as they tackled an entirely different course than the previous days as they went in to the penultimate round and the last full day of riding. The track was a mixture of trails and special tests.
For the final day, riders will have to fight it out on a nearby motocross circuit.

Aubert’s efforts helped to further solidify France’s grip on the coveted World Trophy and collectively they finished 1.5 minutes in front of Finland, who are third behind Italy in the aggregate standings. While first place seems secure in French hands there is a battle of attrition for the minor places between Italy,
which includes KTM riders Thomas Oldrati, Simone Albergoni and Alessandro Belometti and Finland where KTM’s own Eero Remes. The USA, with Kurt Caselli and Mike Brown as spearheads, is in fourth place.

As the French lineup includes riders with some strong motocross credentials and because they are 10 minutes clear of Italy, the top result of the event’s most prestigious trophy seems to be a foregone conclusion. Battle lines however are drawn to fight out for the minor podium places.

Spain continues to dominate the Junior Trophy with KTM’s Lorenzo Santolino and Mario Roman performing with the same flair that they showed in the 2010 World Championship junior competitions and together they have amassed almost six minutes over second placed Sweden. Here too there is a close battle for the minor places between Sweden and the USA. France is in fourth place.

In the E1 category on the day Eero Remes came in second to Antoine Meo of France who extends his lead in the class. Third and fourth on Day 5 were KTM USA riders Kurt Caselli and Mike Brown. Aubert was fastest home in E2 for the fifth day in a row by thirty-nine seconds ahead of Rodrig Thain and Juha Salminen. Italian Simone Albergoni was the day’s best KTM rider in the big E3 class coming home third behind Christophe Nambotin and Sebastien Guillaume (Husqvarna).

The ISDE Six Days Enduro is also an occasion for KTM to show support for all KTM riders, both professional and hobby riders and is a strong presence in the paddock offering customer service packages, spare parts and expert advice. In this spirit KTM also offers a trophy for the Toughest Club Rider and going into this final day, this competition is led by Aaron Bernadez of Spain, with Johnas Karlsson of Sweden and Andrew Delong of the USA in second a third place
It has been three long days of competition so far and this is about the time when riders are starting to feel the strain. After two days running the same loop the riders tackled new trails and special test on day 3, which will again be run on day 4. After another new loop for day 5 the 2010 ISDE will finish off with the final MX race on Saturday.
Though being expected to be the fastest Husaberg rider of the ISDE, in the absence of Joakim Ljunggren, Oriol Mena so far exceeded all expectations by not only leading the Spanish Junior Trophy team to a decent advantage of close to 3 minutes in the standings but also fighting for the E3 class win. He was leading the class for two days after losing some 15 seconds yesterday which dropped him back to 2nd. As his battle with Sebastien Guillaume is as close as it could be, these 15 seconds are the gap now between the two of them after day 3. Oriol's advantage over last year's overall ISDE winner Christophe Nambotin is more than 40 seconds. Speaking of overall, after starting out with an outstanding 2nd place in the overall standings on day 1 Oriol is now in 7th position overall, only slightly over a minute behind 2nd place and by far the fastest Junior rider.

As most of the fast Husaberg riders opted to run the FE 570 model in the E3 class in the high altitude of Morelia, Husaberg is making up for almost one third of this class. Second fastest Husaberg rider in E3 is Alessandro Botturi in 7th position, who is placed 2nd in the Trophy standings with Team Italy. Right behind him is Husaberg Factory rider Valtteri Salonen who contributed some strong results to Team Finland's 3rd position in the Trophy standings so far. Placed only some 15 seconds behind him is US Factory Nathan Woods who is getting faster day by day and helped to get Team USA into 4th position in the Trophy standings.
France, Italy, Finland and the USA are currently ranked in that order in the prestigious World Trophy at the 85th Edition of the ISDE Six Days Enduro in Morelia, Mexico. Prominent KTM Enduro factory team riders continue to drive their teams forward in the competition. With just two days left to ride, France is now the absolute favorite to retain the World title and KTM’s Johnny Aubert has been at the forefront of their efforts. Aubert has won the E2 category on all four days so far, which makes him the outstanding individual competitor of the 2010 edition. He currently leads the class standings by four and a half minutes.
Italy has a strong contingent of KTM riders with Thomas Oldrati, second behind Aubert in E1 standings, Simone Albergoni and Alessandro Belometti, respectively fourth and fifth in the E3 overalls. They trail France by
some 7.5 minutes at this stage of the race. The battle for the minor places between Italy and third placed Finland is still far from decided with just 18 seconds separating the two teams in the aggregate times.

KTM’s Eero Remes is riding well in E1 and is currently second in the standings, an effort that has helped Finland stay in third overall. Remes is also just 24 seconds behind class leader Antoine Meo, drawing tight battle lines for the remaining two days. Finland also has a second KTM rider in Oskari Kantoninen, while KTM’s Kurt Caselli and Mike Brown are driving Team USA forward in fourth place. Caselli is currently fourth in E1 and Brown is seventh, followed by teammate Ian Blythe in eighth.

Spain continues to dominate the Junior Trophy team competition, with KTM’s Lorenzo Santolino and Mario Roman making a major contribution that has put them ahead by five minutes overall. Meanwhile USA and Sweden are locked in battle for the minor places.

Heat and dust have been tough opponents for all riders at the Mexican event and eventually managed to win over Team USA competitor Cory Buttrick who earlier in the week hit a tree stump in bad visibility and had to return with bruises and abrasions. On Day 4 riders tackled the same route as the previous day, being forced to weave their way through a rock strewn track. In another test of endurance, the cloud cover of the previous day that brought some respite from the heat dissipated leaving them to face another scorcher.
Team France, together with KTM factory rider Johnny Aubert, who has the honor of leading off for day four of this great Enduro classic continues to dominate the prestigious World Trophy and the team charges forward determined to retain the title
Italy, with a strong KTM contingent of Thomas Oldrati, Simone Albergoni and Alessandro Belometti is still placed second around six minutes behind and Finland, with KTM factory rider Eero Remes and KTM rider Oskari Kantolinen is currently in third place. KTM’s Mike Brown and Kurt Caselli
together with their teammates have USA in fourth overall to give top KTM riders a good cross section of representation in the leading teams at the end of the half way mark.

As riders and bikes begin to feel the strain of six continuous days of Enduro riding, riders tackles a new route with nine special tests, which they must ride again on Day Four. At least skies clouded to provide a welcome relief from the characteristic heat of Mexico even if it did little to settle the dust.
Day Three saw Finland again third and USA fourth and these are the teams that are dominating the most prestigious battle.
The Junior trophy is an all Spanish affair, powered up by two exceptional young KTM riders, Lorenzo Santolino and Mario Roman, who both excelled in the junior competition at World Championship level this season. Sweden, France, Finland and the USA follow them in the overall Junior Trophy standings.

In the individual E1 category, it was again Antoine Meo who took line honors followed by KTM factory rider Finland’s Eero Remes and Italy’s Alex Salvini (Husqvarna). Team USA KTM rider Kurt Caselli was fourth. These four riders also maintain their positions in the overall E1 category.

Day Three say E2 dominated by KTM’s Aubert finishing 54 seconds in front of Italian Manuel Monni with Juha Salminen of Finland third. Johnny Aubert now sits more than three minutes clear in the overall E2 standings. Monni and KTM’s Thomas Oldrati are three minutes behind but only 10 seconds apart.

Line honors in E3 went to France’s Seb Guillaume ahead of his teammate Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas) with Italy’s Simone Albergoni (KTM) placed third.

Riding in a day that was cooler than the opening competition was a relief for some riders unaccustomed to the heat of this Mexican location of Morelia. The second day however still represented plenty of challenges in time controls and in the special tests offering riders and spectators plenty of excitement.
Italy, with KTM factory riders Thomas Oldrati , Alessandro belometti and Simone Albergoni the Italians are also proving strong finishing just two minutes behind France. Finland's Trophy Team with Eero Remes of KTM stay in third place and the USA
with Kurt Casseli and Mike Brown riding for KTM are still fourth.

Sweden shone in the Junior Trophy thanks to the efforts of KTM rider Henrik Lindholm but the did benefit from a mistake by a member of the Spanish team (with Lorenzo Santolino and Mario Roman who both excelled in the Junior competitions at the 2010 world championships). Sweden finished nine seconds ahead of Spain, trimming their overall lead.

KTM's Eero Remes is second overall behind France's Antoine Meo (Husqvarna) with Italian Alex Salvini (Husqvarna) in third. Meanwhile Johnny Aubert (KTM) has a 2.5 minute overall lead in the E2 individual class in front of Italians Manuel Monni (Yamaha) and Thomas Oldrati (KTM). Spain's Oriol Mena (Husaberg) tops E3 class, but is being challenged by France's Sebastien Guillaume and Christophe Nambotin (Gas Gas). Mexico's top performer Homero Diaz (KTM is in fifth.
Winners of the prestigious award last year in Portugal, the team that features Mena as one of the star performers starts this year’s event as the junior squad to beat. And with conditions likely to suit the four experienced riders few are betting against Spain claiming a consecutive Junior Trophy team class win.

As ’09 Enduro Junior World Champion, and with a year’s experience in the competitive Enduro 3 World Championship, Oriol is the team’s most experienced rider. But competing alongside him is ’10 EJ World Champion Lorenzo Santolino and ’10 Youth Cup winner Mario Roman. Add to that trio the hard charging Victor Guerrero and it’s easy to see why the Spanish junior team is tipped for more success.

"We have the same team as last year, which is a very strong team," commented Oriol as he placed his bike in the parc ferme. "We only have one goal, which is to win. All of the team’s riders are very experienced and we feel like we are in a very strong position to win again. Of course anything can happen at the six days but we are all looking forward to the event.
“Mexico is the place where I won the Enduro Junior World Championship last year, so it’s a special place for me. The conditions are also similar to Spain – dry, dusty with many stones – so that is very good for the Spanish riders. I’ve walked all of the special test with the rest of the team and they look good so hopefully everything will go well. One thing that is unique here is that all bikes have less power because of the high altitude."

While Mena is the rider expected to lead Husaberg's assault on the 85th running of the event six other Husaberg riders are also hoping for noteworthy results. Competing for the Swedish Junior Trophy team is Calle Sjöö. With the team's container held up in customs Calle, like all Swedish riders, had a lot less time to prepare for the event that hoped, but is looking to end '10 with a strong result. Competing alongside Calle in the Swedish Junior Trophy Team will be Kalle Svensson, who makes his first race on a TE 300.
Faced with nine special tests on the opening day, it was the French riders who turned guts into glory, especially Johnny Aubert on his KTM who dominated the Enduro 2 class to finish a minute ahead of his nearest rival. The French are the trophy holders and are chasing another victory and with Antoine Meo and Christophe Nambotin joining Aubert in the national lineup, they are clearly the early favorites. The team’s aggregate times gave them a 2.5 minute advantage over second placed Italy (with KTM riders and Aubert’s factory teammates Simone Albergoni and Thomas Oldrati on what was a hot and dusty first day. Finland, with KTM’s Eero Remes came in third and the USA with KTM riders Kurt Caselli and Mike Brown was fourth on a day that was only the beginning of this marathon endeavor for both man and machine,
In the Junior Trophy Team category it was Spain who seized the early advantage, helped in their efforts by KTM’s Lorenzo Santolino and Mario Roman, both of whom have excelled in competition during the 2010 season. Sweden also finished strongly in this category. France was third, Finland fourth and USA was fifth. The combined efforts of Aubert, Remes and Caselli also placed KTM in the top slot after day one for the Manufacturer’s Trophy.
Billed as one of the most demanding enduro events, ISDE participants will average more than 150 miles of dirt terrain throughout each day of the six-day contest. Team trucks have arrived and settled in, and the paddock has quickly come to life with a variety of colorful flags from 28 different countries. Individual teams have begun practicing just outside Altozano, and more than 50 thousand visitors are expected to participate in the festivities to occur over the next week.

Representing USA at the 85th ISDE event will be Destry Abbott, Mike Brown, Kurt Caselli, Jimmy Jarrett, Timmy Weigand and Nathan Woods. Abbott is an AMA Team USA veteran and World Trophy Team co-captain. With five National Hare and Hound Championships under his belt, Abbott is an experienced enduro rider with four ISDE Gold Medals.
This will be the sixth trip Abbott has made to an ISDE event, and he will be contesting the E2 class aboard a Kawasaki KX450.

"The ISDE continues to be one of my all-time favorite events," Abbott said. "I look forward to it every year, and I'm excited to see what we can accomplish as a team. This year's team is extremely strong, and consists of five riders who know what to expect and what it takes to conquer this event and bring home a gold.”

The other captain of Team USA is Caselli, who recently clenched the 2010 WORCS Championship for the second time. Returning to the ISDE for the fourth time, the 26-year-old will race his KTM 250 EXC in the E1 class.

Brown may be a new addition to the team this year, but the FMF/KTM rider is an accomplished motocross and off-road racer. Brown clenched the 2001 AMA 125cc Motocross Championship, and he will be competing alongside Caselii in the E1 class aboard his KTM 250 EXC.

Returning for the second time will be Timmy Weigand. In 2009 Wiegand originally filled in for Woods, who was injured and unable to participate. Racing a Honda CRF450R in the E2 class, Wiegand won the 2009 AMA Western Regional Hare Scrambles Championship, and is eager to be returning. Meanwhile, Woods will be returning for his second time to the event. Currently competing in the 2010 EnduroCross Championship, Woods will be racing a Husaberg FE570 in the E3 class.

Last but certainly not least is Jimmy Jarrett, who holds several years of experience racing in the GNCC series. He’s no stranger to the ISDE competition, and this will be his sixth time representing USA in the E2 class.

Portugal was the host country in 2009, Greece in 2008 and in Chile in 2007. The event attracts around 500 riders and thousands of spectators. Riders compete for individual and multiple categories of national and other team awards over six days of riding a total 1250 miles (2011 km). And because KTM highly values the commitment of privateers and IDSE enthusiasts there will again in 2010 be an unofficial tribute to KTM’s toughest club riders.

David has been working hand-in-hand with KTM’s R&D experts

David "The Knighter" Knight, who rejoined the Maxxis Enduro World Championship competition this season riding for KTM Farioli as a KTM-supported rider, returns to race Orange in 2011 and 2012 as a full factory rider.

The Manx- born rider was in Mattighofen, Austria at KTM’s headquarters this week to put his signature on the new contract, team officials have confirmed.

Playing a similar role as Stefan Everts, who worked intensively with the KTM R&D department on the new 350 SX-F motocross machine, David, as one of the world’s best Enduro riders, has also been able to provide invaluable input into the development of KTM’s new EXC models. Like Everts, David has been working hand-in-hand with KTM’s R&D experts and his contribution
in the development of the next generation of KTM’s Enduro machines will ensure that KTM can provide the racing fraternity with true state-of-the-art racing machines.

David, who currently leads the E3 World Championship standings with a 30 points gap over Christophe Nambotin, is enjoying an excellent current season and has never been off the podium in the competition’s first five rounds. He has netted six wins, two seconds and two third places and while there are still 150 points up for grabs in the Rounds scheduled for Greece, Turkey and France, David is well on the way to seeing his name on the trophy in 2010.

In May this year David also claimed the first ever British Enduro Sprint Championship, wrapping up the title with yet another double victory in Saints Well, Mid Wales in May to indicate that at 32 years-old, he is at the top of his game when it comes to competing against the world elite in riding skills, agility and tactics. As well as his seven other national titles, David is a double World Enduro Champion (2005/6), GNCC champions XC 2007/8, GBXC champion 2008, AMA Endurocross champion 2007, has twice won the Erzberg Extreme and the U.S. Red Bull Last Man Standing and was overall ISDE winner in 2005, to mention only a selection of his trophy collection.

David previously raced Orange in the World Championships and also in the USA and his return to the factory team underlines the KTM company philosophy of always being “Ready to Race” with the best and brightest in the world’s top competitions.

Everything on track for the 85th edition of the Six Days in Mexico

KTM is pleased to announce that following the official FIM inspection of the site and facilities for the International Six Days Enduro (ISDE 2010) all FIM regulations have been fulfilled for the event in Morelia, Michoacan in Mexico on November 1-6, 2010.
