Isis Danae Mena- Winner National Vocalist/Artist at GMA Immerse 2011 in Nashville, TN (Gospel Music Association)– Many artists and writers have been discovered or launched their careers through GMA’s IMMERSE (formerly Music in The Rockies), including Chris Tomlin, Casting Crowns, Matthew West, Jars of Clay, Nichole Nordeman, Bart Millard (MercyMe), Barlow Girl, Stacie Orrico, Point of Grace, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Chris Sligh and 2007 American Idol winner Jordin Sparks.

Isis gets to do a one on one 2 hour sit down with Centricity Music here in Nashville. Receives 2 tickets to the Dove Awards hosted by The Gospel Music Association. Free admission to next years Immerse Conference and Competition.

Here is Isis performing her song ‘Stay’ for the Judges Panel. The Judges input are at the end. There were also 10 judges in the audience from various influences in the music industry in Nashville.

Arriving to Nashville!

Moving to Nashville! We have packed up and headed to our apartment in Nashville. We have already named it the Nash Pad. I am going to write more about the move and the arrival, adjustments since we arrived! For now, just wanted you to know where I am.

I have been to Nashville many times before and met amazing people.

I know that will continue to be the case as I attend the GMA Immerse Conference in a few weeks. Some of my friends I have met there the past couple of years will be there. That means, late night jammin, and being surrounded by musicians. I am entering the Artist Competition for the first time too. Finally. I will get to actually sing!

Something to smile about…

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”
Eph 2:10

I was just reading and came across that verse. I love it every time I hear it. Although I never can let that fully sink in. “For we are God’s masterpiece.” masterpiece.. That’s a bold statement. Not “We are something pretty God made,” “God thinks we are kind of cool,” not even “We are beautiful.” WE ARE GOD’s MASTERPIECE. We are Leonardo’s Mona Lisa. Except a million times more awesome. People take time out of their schedule, a nice wad of cash out of their pockets, fly out to Paris, and then wait in line just to see the Mona Lisa. Only partially because of the actual painting and mostly because of who created it. You think the Mona Lisa is valuable because some guy wayyy back in the day painted it?

Take a look at yourself.

“YOU.ARE.GOD’S.MASTERPIECE.” Are you floating to the ceiling right now? The reason you hopefully said no, is because of gravity. God created that. You see that bright hot light over there? The sun. He made that too. But of everything, He considers YOU His masterpiece. And If we begin to dissect a little bit further, take out masterpiece from that verse for a second.

“For we are God’s.”

Do you ever feel like you don’t belong? I do all the time. But then I remember, I belong to the king of kings. Who cares if a few people don’t think I belong in their circle. “For we are God’s” and more than that, I am His masterpiece. People may travel and pay to see the Mona Lisa, but the God that calls me His, sent His son to pay a MUCH higher price than any first class ticket, just so He could be with me. Then of course it doesn’t even stop there! He thinks I am so awesome that he decided to give me a purpose! I had way too much potential to just live, so He gave me a meaning. Before I popped out into this world, before my mom came into this world, He already had the perfect plan for me. He was already excited about it! So if you woke up today feeling like you don’t belong, don’t fit in or mean anything to anyone, or maybe you just don’t think you have anything to accomplish in life.

Know that the one who created life itself, created you to fulfill the purpose specifically given to you and ONLY you, and calls you His masterpiece. Just so you don’t have to look at the floor any longer holding your head down like that

Redefining Beautiful by Jenna Lucado

As unique individuals, we have our own habits, our own style, our own outlook, things that make us who we are. How we choose to see them, is well, up to us.

We often look at ourselves with judgmental eyes, and see only what we believe other people are thinking about us. We are constantly giving in to our insecurities and believing who we are is not pretty enough, smart enough, normal enough, fill in the blank. But what if we could learn to love our quirks and see ourselves for who we truly are?

In “Redefining Beautiful,” Jenna Lucado starts by telling you of what she refers to as her “weirdness” and what makes her unique. With some side notes from her dad, who you might of guest is, Max Lucado and scripture from her heavenly dad, she takes you through on how to love all of the things that make up who you are. With the spaces she leaves for you to write, and quizzes for you to take, you search your heart for the deep reason behind your insecurities and self doubt.

This book opened my eyes to the true beauty that lies inside of me, and helped me to love all of the weird things that make up who I am. I’ve seen that I am just the way I am supposed to be; intricately designed exactly how God planned. I’ve seen myself for who I truly am, beautiful.
