2. Babilonia

Ut-Napishtim adalah persamaan tokoh bangsa Babilonia terhadap pahlawan dalam peristiwa banjir dalam kisah bangsa Sumeria, yaitu Ziusudra. Tokoh penting yang lain adalah Gilgamesh.

Menurut legenda, Gilgamesh memutuskan untuk mencari dan menemukan para leluhurnya agar mengungkapkan rahasia kehidupan yang abadi. Ia melakukan sebuah perjalanan yang menantang bahaya. Ia diperintahkan supaya melakukan sebuah perjalanan dan harus melewati “Gunung Mashu dan air kematian”, dan sebuah perjalanan yang hanya dengan diselesaikan oleh seorang anak tuhan bernama Shamash.

Gilgamesh bertanya kepada Ut-Napishtim bagaimana ia dapat memperoleh keabadian. Lalu, Ut-Napishtim menceritakan kepadanya kisah tentang banjir sebagai jawaban atas pertanyaannya.

Banjir tersebut juga diceritakan dalam kisah Duabelas Meja (twelve tables) yang terkenal dalam epic tentang Gilgamesh.

3. India

Dalam epic India yang berjudul Shatapala Brahmana dan Mahabharata, seseorang yang disebut dengan Manu diselamatkan dari banjir bersama dengan Rishiz.

Menurut legenda, seekor ikan yang ditangkap dan diselamatkan oleh Manu, tiba-tiba berubah menjadi besar dan mengatakan kepadanya untuk membuat sebuah perahu dan mengikatkan perahu tersebut ke tanduknya. Yang berpendapat Banjir Global

Didalam AlQur’an maupun Bible menyebutkan kaum Nuh dibinasakan dengan sebuah banjir besar. Sebagian ulama ataupun pemerhati sains dan teknologi meyatakan banjir besar itu adalah banjir global yang menenggelamkan seluruh dunia.

Penganut Kristen dan Katholik, mempercayai peristiwa itu terjadi secara global. Hal ini sebagaimana dimuat dalam Perjanjian Lama dan Perjanjian Baru yang menyatakan terjadinya banjir bersifat global.

Pendapat ini diperkuat dengan keterangan dari Genesis 7: 4 yang menyebutkan, “Untuk selama tujuh hari, Aku akan menyebabkan hujan di bumi, 40 hari dan 40 malam dan setiap makhluk hidup yang telah Aku ciptakan, akan Aku binasakan dari permukaan bumi,”

Dan bahtera itu berlayar membawa mereka dalam gelombang laksana gunung. Dan, Nuh memanggil anaknya, sedang anak itu berada di tempat yang jauh terpencil: “Hai anakku, naiklah (ke kapal) bersama kami dan janganlah kamu berada bersama orang-orang kafir, “Anaknya menjawab: “Aku akan mencari perlindungan ke gunung yang dapat memeliharaku dari air bah!” Huh berkata: “Tidak ada yang melindungi hari ini dari adzab Allah selain Allah (saja) Yang Maha Penyayang.” Dan gelombang menjadi penghalang antara keduanya; maka jadilah anak itu termasuk orang-orang yang ditenggelamkan.” (QS. Hud [11]: 42-43).

Kelompok yang mendukung pendapat ini menunjukkan data dan bukti berupa penemuan fosil-fosil gajah purba (mammoth). Menurut kelompok ini, fosil gajah purba (mammoth) itu ikut musnah ketika banjir besar terjadi. Yang Berpendapat Banjir Domestik

Harun Yahya, penulis buku Kisah-Kisah dalam AlQur’an dan Jejak-Jejak Bangsa Terdahulu, maupun dalam situs www.bangsamusnah.com, menyatakan, banjir itu hanya terjadi di wilayah tertentu, yakni di tempat umat Nabi Nuh berada (domestic), dan tidak terjadi secara global yang menenggelamkan dunia. Ia mendasarkan pendapatnya ini dengan peristiwa yang menimpa kaum ‘Ad dan Tsamud.

Menurut kelompok yang menyatakan banjir di zaman Nabi Nuh AS itu sebagai banjir domestic (lokal), berdasarkan keterangan ayat AlQur’an juga. Di antaranya, QS. Ar-Ra’du [13]: 7, An-Nahl [16]: 36, 84 dan 89, Al-Mu’minun [23]: 44, An-Nisa [4]: 41, dan Yunus [10]: 47. Ayat-ayat tersebut menjelaskan tentang adanya rasul yang diutus oleh Allah pada setiap umat.

Menurut kelompok ini, pada zaman Nabi Nuh AS, ada nabi atau rasul lain yang hidup sezaman dengannya. Namun wilayahnya berjauhan dan tidak hanya berada di Negara-negara Timur Tengah saja.

Contoh nabi dan rasul yang hidup sezaman adalah Nabi Ibrahin dengan Nabi Luth, Ismail dan Ishak. Lalu, Nabi Ya’kub sezaman dengan Nabi Yusuf. Nabi Musa hidup sezaman dengan Harun dan Nabi Syuaib, Nabi Zakaria sezaman dengan Yahya, serta lainnya. Karena itu, menurut kelompok ini, banjir besar itu hanya menimpa umatnya nabi Nuh saja.

Lalu siapakah nabi yang kira-kira hidup sezaman dengan Nabi Nuh itu? Inilah yang perlu dilacak kembali. Sebab berdasarkan hadits Nabi SAW yang diriwayatkan oleh Bukhari, jumlah nabi sebanyak 124 ribu orang dan rasul berjumlah 313 orang. Syekh Ahmad Marzuqy dalam kitab Aqidah al-Awwam. Dan Syekh Nawawi bin Umar al-Jawi Al-Bantani dalam kitab Syarah Nur al-Zhalam, juga menyebutkan jumlah Nabi dan Rasul ini sebanyak 124 ribu orang dan raasul sebanyak 313 orang. Nabi pertama adalah Adam AS, sedangkan penutup nabi dan rasul adalah Muhammad SAW. AlQur’an menyebutkan, jumlah nabi dan rasul itu sangat banyak dan hanya sebagian saja yang disebutkan dalam AlQur’an.

“Dan, sesungguhnya telah Kami utus beberapa orang rasul sebelum kamu, di antara mereka ada yang Kami ceritakan kepadamu dan di atara mereka ada (pula) yang tidak Kami ceritakan kepadamu.” (QS. Al-Mu’min [40]: 78).

Kelompok ini memperkuat argumentasinya dengan penjelasan bahwa berdasarkan hasil penelitian para ahli geologi terhadap banjir besar itu, peristiwa itu terjadi di wilayah Mesopotamia yang meliputi wilayah Turki, Iran, Irak, dan Rusia.

Lantaran daerah itu berupa cekungan raksasa yang luasnya mencapai 9 hingga 10 juta hectare, atau sekitar 70 persen dari luas Pulau Jawa. Sehingga, banjir saat itu besarnya bisa disamakan seperti lautan karena puncak bukit setinggi 5.000 meter, tidak akan tampak pada jarak 250 kilometer (km).

“Dan, tidak adalah Tuhanmu membinasakan kota-kota, sebelum Dia mengutus di kota itu seorang rasul yang membacakan ayat-ayat Kami kepada mereka; dan tidak pernah (pula) Kammi membinasakan kota-kota; kecuali penduduknya dalam keadaan melakukan kezhaliman.” (QS. Al-Qashash [28]: 59).

Bagi umat Islam yang pernah membaca sejarah 25 Nabi dan Rasul, pastinya mengetahui tentang kisah Nabi Nuh AS. Ia diutus oleh Allah SWT untuk mengajak kaumnya menyembah Allah SWT. Dan, selama lebih kurang 950 tahun, Nabi Nuh berdakwah kepada tiga generasi dari kaumnya. Dalam waktu yang panjang itu, Nabi Nuh AS hanya mendapatkan pengikut sebanyak 70 orang dan delapan anggota keluarganya.

Dalam Kisah, Nuh diperintahkan untuk membuat sebuah kapal sebagai persiapan bila siksa Allah berupa banjir telah datang. Nuh mengajak kaumnya untuk naik ke kapal dan hanya sedikit yang percaya kepada Nuh.

Setelah beberapa lama berlayar di atas lautan banjir, air pun menjadi surut.

Dan ketika banjir telah reda dan air telah surut, kapal Nabi Nuh kemudian terdampar (berlabuh) di sebuah bukit tinggi (al Judy). Peristiwa ini secara lengkap terdapat dalam Al Qur’an surah Nuh [71]: 1-28, Hud [11]: 25-33, 40-48, dan 89.

“Dan difirmankan: “Hai bumi telanlah airmu, dan hai langit (hujan) berhentilah,” dan air pun disurutkan, perintah pun diselesaikan dan bahtera itu berlabuh di atas bukit (judy) dan dikatakan: “Binasalah orang-orang yang zalim”. (QS. Hud [11]: 40)

Peristiwa banjir besar yang melanda umat Nabi Nuh ini, tidak hanya terdapat dalam AlQur’an, tetapi juga dalam agama dan kebudayaan negeri lainnya. Dalam Bible (Injil), kisah serupa juga terdapat dalam Genesis 6: 15, 7: 4-7, 8: 3-4, dan 8: 29. Begitu pula, dalam Mitologi Sumeria, Akkadia, Babilonia, serta kebudayaan India, Wales, Lithuania, dan Cina.

Peristiwa banjir yang menenggelamkan umat Nabi Nuh itu, kini telah merebak ke seantero dunia. Para peneliti arkeologi, berlomba-lomba mengungkap kebenaran cerita itu dengan meneliti tempat berlabuhnya kapal Nuh tersebut.

Pemerintah Turki mengklaim, bahwa setelah lebih dari 5000 tahun terpendam, bangkai kapal Nuh tersebut ditemukan pada 11 Agustus 1979 di wilayahnya. Bahkan, situs ini telah dibuka untuk umum dan menjadi objek wisata. Pemerintah Iran juga melakukan penyelidikan di Gunung Sabalan, 300 km dari situs pertama.

Kebenaran penemuan itu, masih diperdebatkan banyak pihak. Namun, sejumlah peneliti percaya, bahwa pegunungan Ararat adalah tempat berlabuhnya kapal Nuh. AlQur’an tidak menyebutkan nama sebuah gunung kecuali nama al-Judy, yang bermakna sebuah tempat yang tinggi.

Al-Maghluts menyebutkan, Idris hidup sekitar tahun 4533-4188 Sebelum Masehi (SM). Usianya diperkirakan sekitar 345 tahun. Ada pula yang menyebutkan, usianya 308 tahun. Hal ini juga disebutkan oleh Ibnu Katsir dalam Qishash al-Anbiya’ yang mengutip keterangan dari Ibnu Ishaq.

Ibnu Ishaq menerangkan, Idris adalah manusia pertama yang menulis dengan pena. Rasul SAW bersabda; “Dahulu, ada seorang nabi yang menulis dengannya (maksudnya menulis di atas pasir). Barang siapa yang sejalan dengan tulisannya, demikian itulah (tulisannya).”
Sebagian riwayat menyebutkan, Nabi Idris-lah yang dimaksud dalam hadits yang diriwayatkan muslim dari Mu’awiyah bin Al-Hakam As-Sulami tersebut.

Prophet Idris Alaihissalam (AS) is a prophet sent by God to his people. According to some versions, as quoted in Sami bin Abdullah Al-Maghluts, in his book Historical Atlas of the prophets and messengers, Idris was sent to the house of the Prophet Syits or descendants of Qabil, the son of Prophet Adam, in the territory of ancient Iraq.

According to Ibn Kathir, Prophet Idris was path nasab Prophet Muhammad. Al-Maghluts mention, his name is Idris (Akhnukh) the son of Jared bin Mahalail (Mahalalel) the son of Qainan the son of Anusy the son of Syits the son of Adam AS.

In the Qur'an, his name is called Idris, because Allah glorify Him as a messenger who has the versatility in the field of science and study hard (daras). God gave it 30 Manuscripts (shuhuf) in preparation to teach his people.

Saudara kembar Qabil memiliki paras yang lebih cantik dibandingkan dengan saudara kembar Habil.”

Qabil and Habil left the corpse in the open. Because, he does not know how to bury her. Allah then sent two brothers crow tail. Both are fighting each other, until one of them died. The crow then dig the soil with its beak and crows bury the dead. When Qabil saw that, he said: "Alas, why am I not able to do as this raven, so I can bury the corpse of my brother." (Surat al Maidah [5]: 31)

Adam came home and found one of his sons had died because of killed by his own son.

"Surely We offered the trust to the heavens, the earth and the mountains, but they refused to undertake it, being afraid, and dipikullah mandate it by humans. Behold, the man most wrongdoers and very stupid. "(Qur'an Adzab [33]: 72).

He is Qabil, humans are not trustworthy in fulfilling the mandate Prophet Adam to keep his family. Thus the statement of Imam Tabari in al-Tarikh wa al-Mulk Umam, Volume I, page 13.

Makkah

Adapun Adam, menurut sebagian riwayat ia hidup hingga berusia 1000 tahun. Riwayat lainnya menyebutkan, usianya antara 950-1000 tahun. Dan jarak antara Adam dengan Nuh juga 1000 tahun atau 10 abad. Demikian keterangan Ibnu Katsir dalam kitabnya Al-Bidayah wa an-Nihayah. Ibnu Katsir menjelaskan, ada seseorang bertanya; “Ya Rasulullah, apakah Adam seorang nabi?” Rasul SAW menjawab, “Ya, nabi yang diberikan wahyu.” Orang itu kembali bertanya; “Berapa lama rentang waktu antara Adam dan Nuh?” Nabi SAW menjawab; “Sepuluh abad.” (HR. Muslim).

According to some history, Adam was buried on the mountain Qasiyun, in the Damascus area. Jabal Rahmah, which means hill or mountain of love, believed to be Muslims as a meeting place between Adam and Eve, after separated for decades since descended from heaven. As all know, before they are hosts of heaven.

The majority of scholars have argued, Adam and Eve inherited separately (in India while Adam Eve in Jeddah). Both of them then met at Jabal Rahmah, at Arafat. The belief that the meeting of Adam and Eve in the Jabal Rahmah at Arafat was later confirmed by the construction of a monument by the government of Saudi Arabia at the venue.
Meanwhile, the tomb of Prophet Adam, there is still much debated. There are mentions his tomb is located in the mountains (Jabal) Abu Qubais. Some say, on Mount Baudza (India), where the first down to earth. And, there is also the opinion, after the hurricanes, Noah visited his grave at Baitul Maqdis.

The Qur'an itself does not clearly explain where Adam and Eve descended. The Qur'an only describes the process of the revelation of Adam and Eve to earth. See Al-Baqarah [2]: 30-38 and AlA'raf [7]: 11-25.
Meanwhile, according to legend in the Christian religion, after being expelled from the Garden of Eden (surge), Adam first set foot on earth on a mountain known as Adam's Peak or Al-Rohun contained in Sri Lanka.

Mengendalikan Marah

Menurut kacamata psikologi, marah adalah bagian dari emosi. Di antara sekian banyak emosi, marah dikategorikan sebagai emosi yang negatif. "

Oleh karena itu, marah harus dikendalikan jika kemarahan tersebut dapat merugikan orang lain dan lingkungan sekitarnya. Namun, tidak selamanya amarah dapat merugikan orang lain karena ada saat-saat di mana kemarahan perlu diekspresikan lewat perilaku. Sebab, adakalanya seseorang yang kita ajak bicara baru mengerti maksud yang ingin kita sampaikan ketika kita marah. Tanpa marah, orang lain malah menganggap kita main-main atau tidak serius.

Begitu juga dengan Anda. Jika marah kepada anak bertujuan untuk menasihati, kemarahan tersebut diperbolehkan, dengan catatan tidak melukai fisik dan psikis mereka. Namun, jika kemarahan tersebut karena jengkel kepada mereka, apalagi sampai melukai fisik maupun psikis mereka, marah yang seperti ini yang dilarang dalam Islam, dan kita harus berusaha mengendalikannya.

Dalam hal ini, Islam telah memberikan arahan kepada kita untuk mampu mengendalikan amarah dengan cara-cara berikut ini.

Pertama, membaca ta’awudz ketika marah.

Rasulullah pernah mengajarkannya kepada dua orang sahabat yang saling mencaci dengan mengatakan, “Sesungguhnya aku akan ajarkan kalian suatu kalimat yang kalau diucapkan akan hilanglah kemarahan kalian, yaitu bacaan A’uudzubillaahi minasysyaithaanirrajiim.” (H.R. Bukhari)

Kedua, mengubah posisi ketika marah.

Jika posisi kita saat kemaran itu datang adalah berdiri, dianjurkan untuk duduk. Namun, ketika posisi marah kita sedang duduk, dianjurkan untuk berbaring. Rasulullah Saw. bersabda, “Apabila salah seorang di antara kalian marah, sedangkan ia dalam posisi berdiri, hendaklah ia duduk. Kalau telah reda atau hilang marahnya (maka cukup dengan duduk saja), dan jika belum reda, hendaklah ia berbaring” (H.R. Abu Daud).

Ketiga, diam atau tidak berbicara.

Rasulullah Saw. bersabda, “Apabila di antara kalian marah, diamlah” (H.R. Ahmad).

Keempat, berwudhulah.

Rasulullah Saw. bersabda, “Sesungguhnya marah itu dari setan dan setan itu diciptakan dari api, dan api itu bisa padam jika diredam dengan air, maka apabila di antara kalian marah, berwudhulah” (H.R. Ahmad).

Kelima, lakukanlah shalat.

Jika empat langkah tadi belum mampu meredakan amarah, ambillah langkah pamungkas, yaitu dengan melaksanakan shalat dua rakaat. Insya Allah dengan shalat kita akan mampu meredakan amarah, sebagaimana disabdakan oleh Rasulullah Saw., “Ketahuilah, sesungguhnya marah itu bara api dalam hati manusia. Tidaklah engkau melihat merahnya kedua matanya dan tegangnya urat darah di lehernya? Maka barangsiapa yang mendapatkan hal itu (amarah), hendaklah ia bersujud (shalat)” (H.R. Tirmidzi).

Itulah lima jurus untuk mengendalikan amarah. Mudah-mudahan lima jurus tersebut dapat kita amalkan setiap kali kemarahan merasuki jiwa kita. Wallaahu a’lam.

The Islamic Origins of Modern Science

Fourteen centuries ago, God sent down the Qur'an as a guide to all humanity.

At the time the Arab society was in a state of complete degeneration, chaos and ignorance. They were a barbarous people who worshipped idols of their own making, believed warfare and bloodshed to be virtuous and were even capable of killing their own children. They had little interest in intellectual matters, let alone a scientific outlook to the natural world.

However, through Islam they learned humanity and civilization. Not only the Arabs but all the communities which accepted Islam escaped the darkness of the age of ignorance and were illuminated by the divine wisdom of the Qur'an. Amongst the faculties the Qur'an brought to humanity was scientific thinking.

The Scientific Paradigm Given in the Qur'an

The genesis of scientific thought is the sense of curiosity. Because people wonder how the universe and nature work, they investigate and become interested in science. But most people lack this curiosity. For them, the important things are not the secrets of the universe and nature but their own small worldly profits and pleasures. In communities where people who think in this way are in charge, science does not develop. Idleness and ignorance rule.
The Arab community before the Qur'an was of this type. But the verses of the Qur'an called upon them to think, to investigate and to use their minds, perhaps for the first time in their lives.
In one of the first revealed verses of the Qur'an, God drew the attention of the Arabs to the camel, a part of their everyday lives:

Have they not looked at the camel-how it was created? And at the sky-how it was raised up? And at the mountains-how they were embedded? And at the earth-how it is spread out? So remind them! You are only a reminder. (Qur'an, 88: 17-21)

In many other verses of the Qur'an, people are instructed to examine nature and learn from it because people can know God only by examining His creations. Because of this, in one verse of the Qur'an Muslims are defined as people who think about the creation of the heavens and the earth:

Those who remember God, standing, sitting and lying on their sides, and reflect on the creation of the heavens and the earth (saying): "Our Lord, You have not created this for nothing. Glory be to You! So safeguard us from the punishment of the Fire." (Qur'an, 3: 191)

As a result of this, for a Muslim, taking an interest in science is a very important form of worship. In many verses of the Qur'an, God instructs Muslims to investigate the heavens, the earth, living things or their own existence and think about them. When we look at the verses, we find indications of all the main branches of science in the Qur'an.

For example, in the Qur'an, God encourages the science of astronomy:

He who created the seven heavens in layers. You will not find any flaw in the creation of the All-Merciful. Look again-do you see any gaps? (Qur'an, 67: 3)

In another verse of the Qur'an, God encourages the investigation of astronomy and the composition of the earth that is the science of geology:

Do they not look at the sky above them? How We have made it and adorned it, and there are no flaws in it? And the earth- We have spread it out, and set thereon mountains standing firm, and produced therein every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs)-To be observed and commemorated by every devotee turning (to God). (Qur'an, 50: 6-8)

In the Qur'an, God also encourages the study of botany:

It is He Who sends down water from the sky from which We bring forth growth of every kind, and from that We bring forth the green shoots and from them We bring forth close-packed seeds, and from the spathes of the date palm date clusters hanging down, and gardens of grapes and olives and pomegranates, both similar and dissimilar. Look at their fruits as they bear fruit and ripen. There are Signs in that for people who believe. (Qur'an, 6:99)

In another verse of the Qur'an, God draws attention to zoology:

You have a lesson in livestock... (Qur'an, 16:66)

Here is a Qur'anic verse about the sciences of archaeology and anthropology:

Have they not traveled in the earth and seen the final fate of those before them? (Qur'an, 30: 9)

In another verse of the Qur'an, God draws attention to the proof of God in a person's own body and spirit:

There are certainly Signs in the earth for people with certainty; and in yourselves as well. Do you not then see? (Qur'an, 51: 20-21)

As we can see, God recommends all the sciences to Muslims in the Qur'an. Because of this the growth of Islam in history meant at the same time the growth of scientific knowledge.

The Scientific Renaissance of the Middle East

As we have mentioned, when the Prophet Mohammed (pbh) began to preach Islam, the Arabs were a community of ignorant, superstitious tribes. However, thanks to the light of the Qur'an they were rescued from superstition and began to follow the path of reason. As a result of this, one of the most astonishing developments in world history took place and in a few decades Islam, which emerged from the small town of Medina, spread from Africa to Central Asia. The Arabs, who previously could not even rule a single city in harmony, came to be rulers of a world empire.

One of the most important facets of this empire was that it provided the stage for a scientific development previously unmatched in history. At a time when Europe was living through the Dark Ages, the Islamic world created the greatest legacy of scientific knowledge seen in history to that date. The sciences of medicine, geometry, algebra, astronomy and even sociology were developed systematically for the first time.

Great centers of religious learning were also centers of knowledge and scientific development. Such formal centers began during the Abbasid period (750-1258 A.D.) when thousands of mosque schools were established. In the tenth century Baghdad had some 300 schools. Alexandria in the fourteenth century had 12,000 students. It was in the tenth century that the formal concept of the Madrassah (school) was developed in Baghdad. The Madrassah had a curriculum and full-time and part-time teachers, many of whom were women. Rich and poor alike received free education. From there Maktabat (libraries) were developed and foreign books acquired. The two most famous are Bait al-Hikmah in Baghdad (ca. 820) and Dar al-Ilm in Cairo (ca. 998). Universities such as Al-Azhar (969 A.D.) were also established long before those in Europe. The Islamic world created the first universities - and even hospitals - in the world.
