I was fortunate to receive a roll of Heavy Duty Reynolds Wrap Foil from 100% Recycled Aluminum (ARV $2.99/35 square-foot roll). As expected, the Heavy Duty Recycled Foil felt thicker than the standard “regular” Reynolds Wrap Foil, which I normally use, and it also looked shinier, but it worked just as well as “regular” foil!

I used the Reynolds Wrap 100% Recycled Aluminum Foil primarily to cover cooked meals, but I also often used it to bake. Most recently I used it to line a baking pan when I made lemon bars. Once my lemon bars were done, I simply lifted the entire sheet of foil off of the pan and placed it on a cutting board. The foil didn’t rip or break while transferring my lemon bars from the pan to the cutting board, and I was very happy that I didn’t need to wash the baking pan afterward!

I really couldn’t tell any difference between “regular” Reynolds Wrap Foil and “recycled” Reynolds Wrap Foil in terms of quality and durability, but it’s nice to know that the option is available for those of us who want a trusted brand in aluminum foil and want to help the environment at the same time.

Tell me a little about yourself and your blog.

I, Nirasha Jaganath, a mom to 2 little girls, exchanged my rat race life as a software engineer for my rug rats. Having had a love for journalism forever but not daring to pursue it in the turbulent South Africa (where I was born and bred), I am now writing to my heart’s content from my current hometown of Boston. You can also find me writing at Retrevo.com (as a parenting angle on technology) and MomsOfHue.com (featuring women of color) and working with companies like Hooked On Phonics and Disney. I have been featured in several newspapers including Parent’s And Kids Magazine. You can find me speaking at the upcoming Blogalicious conference. My writing has gained me popularity as Mommy Niri has been nominated for the Nickelodeon Parent’s Pick Award. I don’t do anything I’m not passionate about (except maybe diapers)!

What’s your favorite product that you’ve reviewed and why?

The Karito Kids dolls. In fact I just put a contest for a winner to get one. Being a woman of color and having 2 little girls it is important that children see dolls that look like them. It helps with their self image and also allows other kids to get used to having toys of color.

Any advice to those who strive to become successful product reviewers?

People can read all the specifications and features on the product site itself - leave it to the manufacturers. You can link to it so people get to know more. Write from your personal view what works and what does not. People come to your blog to read YOUR review of it. Be honest and people will trust you.

I see you’re going to BlogHer ‘09! What are you hoping to gain from the experience?

To make new acquaintances and strengthen older ones. I am looking to learn and absorb as much as I can. I am also looking at having a bed to myself (read more at Friday 5: 5 Reasons Why I Can’t Wait For BlogHer ‘09).

Your love for journalism is obvious in your writing. What are your other passions?

I love volunteering, though I have not done too much recently (note to self need to get back to it) and I have a strong fervor in my kid’s upbringing and education. I also love making friends and the parties that we attend and host is a testament to that.

These are the only Skin Free Extra Moisturizing Soap’s I could find in our entire valley. We love this soap!! We were so happy with it I forgot to order more and we didn’t want to run out so…I drove to three different Walgreen’s to buy all they had. If I had thought ahead, I could have bought them from the Skin Free website for the same price and received free shipping with an order of $25.00 or more. I have since (of course) ordered more!!

My review: I love Skin Free and my husband loves Skin Free!

We try our best to live green and use organic products. Skin Free is exactly what we like to buy and use on our bodies. Our favorite is the Extra Moisturizing soap. I love the lather. I use it with a bathing puff and my husband uses it with a wash cloth. Two different methods with the same wonderful results!

I have very dry skin and I’ve tried just about every product sold to remedy the dry feeling I have after bathing. The moisturizing Niaouli Butter Stick is quite remarkable. Much like a coco butter stick, the Niaouli Butter Stick rubs on anywhere you’d like. It’s great for hands, feet and elbows however I keep it in my hand bag and use it everywhere (and anywhere) I need it.

The After Shower Moisture Spritz is for spraying on immediately after showering for maximum hydration. As you towel dry, the oils soak deep into your skin to leave you free from dry, itching skin all day, with no greasy feeling afterward.

You’d think Desserts would be the category I refer to most often because of my major sweet-tooth, but based on my preferences, a lot of the dessert recipes were for smoothies, which I don’t usually have for dessert.

My Healthy Cooking Coach is more than just an “electronic recipe box.” There are tools to create shopping lists and to convert measurements, and there is an abundance of information on terms and techniques. There’s a really nifty tool with which you provide up to 3 ingredients you have on hand, and My Healthy Cooking Coach will offer you recipes that include those ingredients.

My favorite feature in My Healthy Cooking is actually the game in which you “prep” and “cook” in a virtual kitchen. The game has really helped me a lot in trying to be better prepared when it comes to cooking. Too many times I can’t find the right measuring cup or spoon, or even worse—I realize I don’t have a certain ingredient and can’t even finish the recipe. Although you’d consider it simply common sense to get everything prepped before hand, sometimes I just don’t, and the game helped to prove that you really are more efficient in the kitchen when you’re prepared.

I love a good summer book - one you can finish during a long weekend.  Four Wives is perfect to grab for a weekend getaway or just hanging out by the pool. 

While the setting of the story is in an extremely wealthy suburb, the issues faced by each character could happen just about anywhere.  I found myself drawn to one character yet despising another.  Overall, the point is well made that you never know what is going on in other people’s lives, even if they are your closest friends.  Secrets are hidden.  Lies are told.  People let you see what they want you to see and nobody has a perfect life.

All this makes for an intriguing book about these suburban friends - betrayal, abuse, family issues, and love.  I look forward to what Wendy Walker will bring us later this year with her next book, Social Lives.

Tell me a little about yourself and how you started reviewing products.

I am Dina, a newcomer to the blogging world. My blog is Just Another New Blog. I am a mom, so the first blogs I started reading were parenting blogs. Then, sometime last winter, I stumbled upon review blogging. I was fascinated! It was so much fun to read about products I had never heard of, and to “meet” the remarkable people who tried out and wrote about these products. I thought how much I would love to be part of this cool online community and share my opinions, too.

I started reviewing about four months ago. Two companies contacted me with review offers because of my comments about their products on other blogs. I remember it took me a really long time to write these two reviews. I agonized over every word! Experienced bloggers make it all seem so easy, their reviews just flow like a really good story. I found out that reviewing is hard work. Loving the products definitely helps, and being objective and honest about your experience is a must.

You say in your blog that the crisp pages of a new book make you happy. What’s your favorite book that you’ve reviewed so far, and why?

Every book is like an adventure, and I feel like a kid with a new toy when I open one for the first time. As a child, I used to borrow so many books from the local library that my mom had to quiz me once – she could not believe I read so many! I try to pass my love of the written word to my children. I believe that teaching children to love books and value learning is one of the best gifts a parent can give.

Because I love reading so much, I have reviewed over a dozen books on my blog. My kids keep me busy, and my reading time is very valuable to me. I do not have a single favorite genre but am picky about what I read. I often turn down review offers if the books do not sound like a good fit. So, because I am so choosy, I’ve been lucky to blog about books that I really enjoyed, and it’s hard to pick a single favorite. I’ll go with The Noticer by Andy Andrews, one of the first books I reviewed. As soon as I finished reading it, I passed it on to my husband, and then to my best friend. I could not wait to blog about it! I generally do not find self-help books very helpful but this book is different. It is a short read full of simple wisdom and most people have probably faced life situations similar to those described in the book.  My favorite part was the four dialects people use to express love and the animals that represent each: a cat for physical contact, a dog for spoken words of approval, a canary for quality time, and a goldfish for favors and deeds.

Among the other products I have reviewed, my favorite is the Oatmeal, Milk and Honey soap from Goat Milk Stuff. I crave this soap! It smells heavenly, and makes my shower feel like a mini spa.

In your first post, you said that you’re still looking for your “blogging voice”… do you think you’ve found it?

My blog is a work in progress. I am still learning the alphabet of blogging, and my blogging voice is tiny – but it’s there!

As a fairly new blogger, any advice to those thinking about starting their own blog?

Read and learn ;-) When you comment on reviews from other blogs, make it count! Companies read these comments, and your next review opportunity may be just around the corner. Be honest and if there is anything that can be improved about a product, don’t be afraid to speak out. Reach out to the blogging community and ask questions. I constantly read other blogs, learn new things and find inspiration every day. There are so many great blogs out there, and some amazing people who always find the time to help out a newbie. I have been fortunate to meet several: Janet from Grammy Janet’s Place, Piera from Jolly Mom, and Heidi from Little People’s Wealth, among others!

On a personal note, what do you like to do in your free time?

You mean, other than trying new products and blogging about it? What else is there?? Just kidding… I like to play with my kids, take them to the park, or read books together.  My mom-time is usually spent with a book and a cup of coffee, exercising, or watching a good movie without any animated characters in it.

Disney.com recently announced the launch of U Rock 2, a stand-out promotion that gives fans the opportunity to create their own music videos set to songs from popular Disney artists and post their original videos on the U Rock site. The most popular U Rock video finalists, voted on by fans, will win the ultimate rock star experience including a trip to Los Angeles , an in-studio “take over” at Radio Disney, a visit to the set of a Disney Channel show, and more.

This is the second annual U Rock event on Disney.com. In 2008 thousands of fan videos were uploaded and millions of fans rated and commented on their favorite videos. New this year, fans will be able to watch and vote for their favorite videos via mobile phone by texting UROCK to DISNEY (347639).*
