I'll update the story on how and where we met next time, for now, he and I are heading to the beach for a nice long walk!

My favorite link of the day on Plurk was a link provided by Wakooz.com They added one of my classic favorite games to their site, Super Mario Bros.! If you have a few minutes, check Wokooz.com out. Wakooz.com makes it simple to set up a home page, where you can easily customize your content. You choose the RSS feeds that you want to see. You can also add gadgets, such as calculators, weather and games, and easily keep track of what's going on with your favorite social networks, and your email.

Today was a sad but happy day for me. I found a lovely dog through Petfinders.com named, Ted E. Bare. He's a Chinese Crested/Pekingese mix breed dog, and I was hooked the moment I laid eyes on him. He apparently has been adopted by someone other than me, and that makes me sad, and happy at the same time. See, our place is too small for two humans, four cats, and a dog. The logistics of eating, sleeping and toileting would be a nightmare. I'm hoping that since both Ted, and his foster brother Smokey were adopted in the same time frame, that they were adopted by the same family. I can only wish them the best, and hope that they have happy, healthy lives filled with love. Every dog deserves those things. I just hope when the time is right, that there will be another dog that I can fall in love with all over again.

Star Wars Stars

Okay, I had to embed this video, so as to never lose the link! Also wanted to get my family interested in reading my blog again. ;) I know that my sister and brother-in-law are both Star Wars fans. I can remember when my sister was just a little girl (4ish), helping her get ready for the day, I'd say, "How do you want to wear your hair today, Sheryl?" She would usually say, "In Princess Leia braids, Sissy!" Time sure does fly. Sheryl is now grown woman, with a wonderful son, and she is expecting her second child in December. (There is no doubt in my mind that she'll have a beautiful baby girl, with extremely curly hair, and she'll be a handful, just like her Aunt Tiffiney!). Sorry Sheryl, it's not a curse, but a blessing. :D Just think of all the years of fun ahead keeping up with her! :P

Thanks to rantz (twenty-threes) for messaging The Bar Corp. about a new microblog, called Plurk. I don't update any of my blogs as often as I would like, but the new Plurk really appeals to me. I guess we'll see how it goes, not sure if it will be just one more blog to neglect or not :D

Dinner at "Thai House Restaurant"

Tonight, Dave and I spent a few hours furniture shopping, and then dinner at Thai House Restaurant in Jacksonville, NC. Yum-O! I got Gai Pu Khao, and Dave got Mai Tai

Gai Pu Khao - Volcano Chicken. This is just a recipe I found online, not the one used by the restaurant!
I'm unable to locate a recipe for Dave's dish, but essentially it was scallops, shrimp and chicken with assorted veggies in a red curry sauce.
Both dishes were fabulous, it was the second time I've eaten at Thai House, third and forth dish I've tried there total. I've loved every one of them.
I wish there was an Asian market closer to our house. The closest one is over 20 miles away. I miss being able to get specialty products not carried at the American grocery stores. I also want to spend more time cooking different Asian styles. I love Chinese and Japanese cooking, but Thai is probably our favorite right now. The combination of curry, lemon grass, coconut milk and peanut is so very pleasing to our pallets. I'll try and add a few more recipes that Dave and I enjoy, eisier to archive favorites that way ;)

Okay, I seem to have embedded videos more often than not, but how cool is this one? I really love Tina Turner's voice, and her energy! I deeply respect any artist that calls on of their dedicated fans on stage. Donovan, her #1 fan at the time, was called up on stage to preform with Tina and her backup during his 17th show! He certainly had the routine down pat :)... I hope you watch this video for yourself!

Multilingual Bible Scripture Translator

I found a new site for bible reference. It has quite a few translations in many different languages, and different versions of the bible (NIV, KJV, GWT, etc...). I like having a parallel version for reference, saves me from pulling out my New Scofield Study Bible (1967 edition), getting distracted and spending a few extra hours researching things that I didn't initially set out to research! My dad gets worked up when I talk about translations other than the KJV mainly because of facts such as this.

Earlier today I decided to work on my sigma ranking at Blogshares by using the random blog link. I came across some really lame blogs... The ones that say "This is a test post"... and a few that I really enjoyed reading as well. One blog, written by a school teacher unfortunately had to be delisted (last post was in Feb. of 2006), had several quotes as posts. I read the name Hermann Goering, on an older post, and thought the name looked vaguely familiar. So yes, I Goggled him, and found this page. This quote recorded almost 61 years ago...

Hermann Goering was not a good person, in fact he was a miscreant, war criminal, and I'm sure not the kind of guy you'de want to befriend.
I support our troops in Iraq with my whole heart, because they are over there, doing their jobs, but I want them all home. Leading normal productive lives, and able to leave the hellish nightmare that they are living over there to end. I detest violence, and the conditions that our military are forced to deal with daily are awful! My wish is for peace for our troops, and for the innocent civilians as well.
Is there a solution to the current level of violence, and loss of life currently in Iraq? I don't really know, but it's time to let the Iraqis police their own affairs.

New Year = Healthier Me

Since my last post, a lot of things in my life have changed, and for the better. The year 2006 was a long and miserable one. I spent eight months going to school. January through March, I attended Carteret Community College to get my Certified Nurse Assistant I certification. I studied, then I returned in May for the Certified Nurse Assistant II certification, and finally graduated in late August. The down side is, I haven't as of yet been able to do anything with those certifications. To be a CNA means being able to help all of your patients, whether they can walk/sit/stand/roll over by themselves, or giving a helping hand when needed. My body just couldn't tolerate all of that, or being on my feet for hours at a time.

I finally got my health to a state where my gynecologist, Dr. D'Andrea finally preformed a TAH. That was November 16th. That was exactly eight weeks ago. I'm felling a lot better, and stronger too. I went to my family doctor, Dr. Salisbury on Monday (1.8.07)to have blood work drawn. Wednesday, I got a call from one of the girls in the office to set up an appointment for me, to go over my lab results. I thought, CRAP!!!! I've been watching what I eat, exercising daily, and have even lost twelve pounds in the last month! How can I have abnormal results!?!
I decided to drive to Dr. Salisbury's office because I would have worked myself into an ulcer waiting two days to see her! I asked for a copy of my Comprehensive Metabolic Panel and my Hemoglobin A1c to interpret the results for myself. I was relieved to find that the only area of concern was concerning my cholesterol level. My cholesterol has always been high, in fact, my total cholesterol number this year is roughly 15 points lower than it was this time last year. I am a bit concerned with the triglyceride reading of over 500! Normal range is 0-149.

As of today, I'm really buckling down, and eating a lot more brown rice and raw veggies. Gotta lay off the dairy, and most meat. I love both! Oh well if you are taking, or considering takingstatin drugs make sure to read the "Safety" section of this wiki article! I had a bad experience last year with Lovastatin, and will never willingly trust a statin again. In closing, I'd like to mention, if you are taking a statin drug, make sure to stop by your local drug/health food store and supplement your body with coenzyme Q10. It just may save you from myopathy or other non desirable long term ill effects.

America's Got Talent, Bianca Ryan, Finale show

I am still so in awe of this incredibly talented 11 year old! I'm really happy for her, she won the America's Got Talent competition last night, and she really earned it! It will be interesting to see how many doors open for this young lady, and may her voice not change too much during puberty :)
