New Culinary Talent Comes to Ocean Isle Beach!

The Isles Restaurant and Tiki Bar recently announced Chef Chris Lubben had come on board to be their new Executive Chef! Chef Lubben is a 1995 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America. Upon graduation, he was recruited by the Palm Restaurant, where he remained for two years. Lubben and his family relocated to North Carolina over ten years ago to be near family, and, since then, he has held positions at various upscale restaurants in the southeastern area of the state. More recently, he was owner and Executive Chef at Chris’ Cosmic Kitchen in Wilmington, NC, which he ran with his wife, Kristin, for nearly four years. In 2008, he was featured on the front cover of the StarNews‘s ‘Wilmington Magazine‘ as one of Wilmington’s Top Ten Chefs that year.

We are so happy to have Chef Chris Lubben on Ocean Isle Beach, and have already worked with him on many occasions, as the Isles is where we hold most of our wedding receptions and rehearsal dinners. There have been nothing but rave reviews thus far about his food:

While staying at our hotel in Ocean Isle Beach, we encourage you to venture out to explore all that Brunswick County, NC has to offer, and one of our favorite local events is soon coming to a close. September is the last month this year to visit the Shallotte Farmers Market, which is filled with goods from local vendors such as plants, produce, arts and crafts, jewelry, home goods and more! For the past six years the market has continued to grow and attract newcomers to the area. For a full list of vendors and for more information, visit the Town of Shallotte’s website!

The Market is open every Saturday this month from 8am-12pm and is located at Riverside Park on the corner of Whiteville Road and Main Street in Shallotte, NC.

NC Oyster Festival and Surf-Off in Ocean Isle Beach, NC

Summertime may be winding down for most of us, but not in Ocean Isle Beach! On October 15^th, 2011 the NC Oyster Festival will come to Ocean Isle Beach, and includes live entertainment, arts and craft vendors, the North Carolina Oyster Shucking Championship and Oyster Stew Cook-Off!

And to kick off the Festival, the NC Oyster Fest Surf-Off will be this September 10^th and 11^th between the Ocean Isle pier and Monroe Street beach access. Entries are open to anyone and the first heat starts at 8:00am on Saturday, the 10^th.
