Students: Read First. Use AI Next.

AI can explain a topic, summarise a chapter and help us complete work faster. But it should not replace reading, understanding and thinking.

Before using AI for an assignment, students should:

• Read the chapter, article or story completely.
• Understand the main idea.
• Note the important points.
• Think about the topic independently.
• Try to answer the question without AI.
• Use AI to clarify doubts or improve understanding.
• Verify whether the information provided by AI is correct.

Using AI before reading may help students finish an assignment quickly, but it may not help them learn.

Reading improves vocabulary, concentration, imagination, critical thinking and independent judgement.

AI becomes more useful when students already understand the topic. They can question the answer, identify mistakes and use the suggestions wisely.

Read. Understand. Think. Then use AI.

AI should support learning, not replace it.

AI chatbots are useful, but we must use them responsibly.

Never share:

• Passwords, PINs, OTPs or security answers

• Bank account, credit card or UPI details

• Aadhaar, PAN or passport information

• Medical records containing personal details

• Confidential student, customer or workplace data

• API keys, source code or business secrets

• Private photos or sensitive documents

• Home address or real-time location

Before entering any information, ask yourself:

“Would I be comfortable if someone else saw this?”

When using AI, remove names and other identifying details.

Think before you type.

Engineering Students: Do Not Study Only to Get a Job—Prepare to Create Jobs

Many engineering students believe that their only option after graduation is to search for a job.

But your engineering knowledge can also help you become an entrepreneur and create employment opportunities for others.

The Government of Tamil Nadu’s New Entrepreneur-cum-Enterprise Development Scheme (NEEDS) supports eligible first-generation entrepreneurs who want to establish new manufacturing or service enterprises.

Under the scheme, eligible applicants may receive:

• Bank loan assistance for approved projects

• 25% capital subsidy, subject to a maximum of ₹75 lakh

• 3% interest support during the loan repayment period

• Entrepreneurship development training

• Guidance for preparing a business plan

• Support in connecting with banks and financial institutions

The eligible project cost generally ranges from ₹10 lakh to ₹5 crore.

Engineering students can use their college years to prepare for entrepreneurship.

Study your subjects properly. Develop strong technical knowledge. Participate in projects, hackathons and competitions. Identify real-world problems. Improve your communication, teamwork, financial and marketing skills.

Your mini-project or final-year project may become the starting point for a useful product, service or startup.

Students can prepare their ideas during college and apply after completing the required qualification and meeting the minimum age and other eligibility conditions.

Your marks alone may not make you an entrepreneur. However, the knowledge, discipline, problem-solving ability and confidence developed through proper learning can help you build a successful business.

Do not study only to pass examinations.

Study to understand.

Study to innovate.

Study to solve problems.

Study to create employment.

Study to become an entrepreneur.

A classroom idea today can become a successful company tomorrow.

Interested students should verify the latest eligibility requirements and application procedure through the official Tamil Nadu MSME portal or the District Industries Centre.

Loan and subsidy approval are subject to eligibility, project appraisal, bank approval and the latest government guidelines.

How to Know If Your Online Account Has Been Hacked

A hacked account does not always show obvious signs. Sometimes, the warning signals are small and easy to ignore.

Watch out for the following:

• Password reset emails or OTPs that you did not request
• Your usual password suddenly stops working
• Login alerts from unknown devices or locations
• Emails, messages or posts sent without your knowledge
• Unknown applications or browser extensions on your device
• Unusual battery drain, overheating or increased data usage
• Frequent pop-ups, crashes or slow device performance
• Unfamiliar transactions in your bank or credit card account
• A sudden increase in personalised scam calls or messages

If you notice any of these signs, act immediately.

Change your password, sign out from all devices, enable two-factor authentication and remove any unknown applications. It is also important to check your bank accounts and scan your device using trusted security software.

A few minutes of action can prevent data theft, financial loss and identity misuse.
