While you are writting, if you wish an helper to correct common typing errors, capitalize first letter of every sentence or correct two initial capitals do the following:

Skype for BlackBerry

I have a Bold 9700 and an Italian Mobile Phone Operator.
NO WAY TO GET A SKYPE FOR MY BLACKBERRY !!!!
Available for certain models in UK ... Australia ... US .... and the rest of the world?
Why?
Skype doesn't like BlackBerry?
RIM doesn't like Skype?

Disappointing.
Another reason to dismiss my BlackBerry ....
I love BlackBerry, but I cannot find the few apps I need.
My next choice: Android or iPhone ...

Artisteer for Joomla Templates

I purchased Artisteer, I built my first Joomla web site ( http://www.bigbenschool.it/ ) and I an so happy I purchased it!
Easy, cheap and flexible.
I made it a couple of years ago. Since then I improved my knowledge and practice in Web Designing.
Anyway I keep on using Artisteer.

Android VS iPhone, Lotus Traveler vs. BES

I need to change my phone.
I have a BlackBerry and I love it!
We have Lotus Domino at work. I installed a BES (Black Berry Server) Express and I have my mobile perfectly synchronized with mails and calendar.

Many other colleagues have iPhone and Android, so we installed Lotus Traveler.

Now the dilemma: do I still need to support and maintain a dedicated server for Black Berry phones or should we all move to Lotus Traveler?

With traveler you can connect iPhone, Android, Nokia S26 and Win Mobile.
With BES you can connect only BlackBerry mobiles.

With traveler I don't need to have a dedicated server only for mobiles. I installed one domino that manges web sites, traveler, mails etc.
To install BES I needed a new server, with a domino and the BES package installed.
The cost was not a problem: I made a virtual machine on our ESX structure, domino Lic. wasn't a problem because we purchased a CED licence from IBM and BES Express is free.

It is anyway and extra server that requires my attention, backup and care.

What shall I do?
We are renewing our contract with Vodafone and I have the possibility to change all our mobiles with a new iPhone or Samsung (Android) almost for free (few €/month)

My boss told me I have to switch off BES before the end of the year. He think it is not reasonable to keep 2 server with the same service (email push to mobile phones) and I do fully agree.

My question now is:

iPHONE or ANDROID ????

I havn't use any of them before and now the choice is hard.
If you search the internet you'll get opposite opinions.
- iPHONE is smart ! .. Android is Great!
- Android works well ... iPhone works better!

I'm confused.
If I had to make a quick choice I would say ANDROID:
- I am a developer
- I love free apps (and it seams that for Android you can get more than iPhone)
- I like Samsung mobiles

Ghost your Home PC for Free

I needed to ghost my PC to:

1. Change Hard Drive to a bigger one

2. Install 3 identical PC for my colleagues that work with the same programs

3. Manage the disaster recovery of an old PC

I like it. you can ghost a live PC on a network drive and then also surf the image mounting it on your PC as a mapped driver.

I know ... there are many other products who do the same. You might think to Acronis ... Norton Ghost ... etc.

Well ... I come across Macrium Reflect quite immediately after a short Google search, I tried it, worked, and I got the functionality I like for free :-) that's a good deal, isn't it?

How to get a specific record from a table using DLookUP

I love DLookUP!

I did not know that with a simple function like this you can retrieve a record from a table with a simple command.

Easier to do that to say:

My application: I need to create a profile table containing local settings for the DB.
1. I create the table named "local_settings"with the following fields:
- key
- version
- <other fields>

2. Created a record where:
key = "localsettings"
version = version of the database
<other fields>

Now .... If you need to get the DB version or any other data from this table DLookUp makes it easy:

version = DLookup("verison", "local_settings", "[key] = 'localsettings'")

that is:

DLookup("FieldName" , "TableName" , "Criteria = 'xxxx'")

PS. Criteria you can use variables.
The result is the first record matching the criteria

So ... if you don't want to use many rows of scripting .... that's the solution!

It's free and you get a regular notification mail informing if you get listed somewhere.

Honestly I have to say that these instruments cannot guarantee that your mail server is 100% BL Free .... but it's a good start :-)

Mi è arrivata una mail do conferma che hanno ricevuto la richiesta .... vediamo se la rimuovono!

La settimana scorsa ho cambiato l'ISP aziendale e il nostro server di posta ora esce con il nuovo IP.

Scoperto oggi ... il nuovo IP è in BlackList!

Che fare?

Io ho fatto questo:

1. Informato immediatamente in Service Provider dell'accaduto. E' loro responsabilità il garantire che gli IP non siano black listati. ...

D'altro canto chi mi assicura che in passato questi IP non fossero stati dati a qualche azienda che spammava?

2. Ho scritto una mail a delist@frontbridge.com chiedendo di essere rimosso dalla lista.

Ho ricevuto la mail di conferma dell'avvenuta ricezione del messaggio.

In meno di due ore Microsoft ha risposto che ha rimosso il mio IP dalla black list.
