His failure to give two clear cut penalties as well as giving a dubious penalty for the home site allowed them to beat us. However this has also happened last year when we were away at napoli. The whole of italy is in upraw because of a letter juve officials sent to the FIA to demand fair treatment. Incidentally, Inter have been gifted numerous decisions in the last 3 games they have played including the game against empoli and catania. Funny that....

Forza Juve!Matt Dayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219446022598306850noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8107320302135632528.post-73637122824940096662008-02-26T13:10:00.000-08:002008-02-26T13:11:48.655-08:00Hi Guys,

My new web development company and website has been launched. His charismatic and likeable character mean he will be liked by fans and media alike but will he be a successful Juventus coach ?
There was inevitably the Lippi link to juventus after Deschamps resignation but his sabbatical from football is still continuing and who can blame him after his genius in guiding us to another World Cup? Surely it would be better, if he ever did come back for him to take a technical role instead of 'soiling' his greatest achievement by having a club season where he will never hit the heights of a world cup victory again. Anyway i detract, a successful coach is one who is respected by his players and one who instills a desire amongst them to succeed and play for him at the highest levels time and time again.

As for Ranieri's honours as a coach, he hasnt won anything of real prestige, a few promotions from the lower leagues, Cagliari from Serie C1 to A, a fourth place with Napoli in Serie A, a copa del rey with Valencia, he also got a runners up spot with chelsea in the premiership. So nothing really to write home about in terms of actual major honours in the major leagues. So why appointment him?

Well he started the successful eras at Valencia and Chelsea and is known as a manager who will give chances to younger players and mix them with more experienced players. At Cagliari, he gave Zola his break, at Valencia, he brought on Medieta, Angulo, Farinos and Albelda and also has an eye for buying in players that go on to better things such as with Claudio Lopez and Santiago Canizares. At Chelsea, he brought on John Terry, Robert Huth from the youth team as well signing the nucleus of players that Mourinho uses in his current Chelsea squad (Duff, Bridge, Cole, Lampard, Parker, Johnson, Veron, Crespo, Makelele, Mutu, Gallas, Cech, Gudjohnson and Robben). Obviously all these players want to play for him as he brings such energy and enthusiasm to the projects.

Many people criticse his 'tinkering' tactics such as in the semi final of the champions league with Chelsea (vs. Monaco) where he made a tactical substitution when he was 2-0 up which conceded ground to Monaco and enabled them to draw on the night (2-2). He also rotates his squad quite a bit, but i do not necessarily think that that is a bad thing. Coaches will always live by their choices of tactics, Capello was at fault in the last 2 champions league campaigns that Juventus were in, with his negative, defensive tactics especially in the first half at Anfield. However mistakes don't just happen on the field, the failure to sign a player with potential, Ferguson failed to sign Ronaldinho from PSG before he went to Barca in 2003. This period coincided with Man utd not winning the league for 3 years, one would assume that with the prodiguous talents of Ronaldinho they would surely have had the edge and won at least 2 of those premiership titles during that period.

With Juventus currently in a transition period I believe that if he nutures the current crop of talented youngsters including Giovinco, Palladino, Criscito, Marchiso, Paro along with the established stars Del Piero and Buffon, Nedved then this will be positive for Italian football. (Note: I dont include Trezeguet as i consider him a lazy workshy striker, who i believe will leave anyway).

If Ranieri can also attract the transfer talent that he has to Valencia and Chelsea as well as bringing on the youth team players, which has been lacking for so long from Juventus (because immediate results are expected) but with this transition there is time to bring youngsters on and start again as well as getting rid of the dead wood like Legrotaglia, Tudor, Zanetti, Giannicheda.

There is no reason why he cannot create a great squad of champions and lead Juventus back to the summit of not just Italian football but to the pinnacle of European football as well. Hopefully he will be given the time to succeed by the fans and club as it will not be instant success at Juventus but his 'miracle' at Parma (Parma where almost forgone conclusions to be relegated at christmas) shows he still can be the deciding factor for any club he is appointed to.
Long live king Ranieri!

Matt Dayhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09219446022598306850noreply@blogger.com0
