It's still not where I'd like it to be, but the year is almost over and my wife is getting sick of my 'stache. To be honest, I will have conflicting thoughts when I remove my 'stache in the coming days. <p /> I say "coming days" because I won't be removing my 'stache until I record/post a few Movember song requests. I'm regrettably late getting one video up and I got a few donations today from coworkers who've yet to decide what songs they'd like. And I'll be conflicted because for the past month, I've had a built-in excuse for looking as goofy as I normally do. <p /> A big thanks and congratulations to Michael, who captained our team and personally raised over $1,000 this month. That's a job well done, sir. As the Mo-stache gains mo-mentum, my donations lag. However, at the same time I am all too aware of the need of such efforts for the sake of those dealing with the ramifications of various cancers and other health problems.<p /> Four or so weeks ago a good friend was diagnosed with Cardiomyopathy caused by Amyloidosis (rare plasma disorder). A few days after this diagnosis her college age daughter (oldest of four) was struck by a motorcycle at school. 27 days later that daughter is still receiving surgeries for a range of internal injuries as well as additional corrective surgeries for broken bones. About a week after the accident the mother was diagnosed even further with Multiple Myelonma. <p /> Three weeks ago a colleague at the office lost her husband to brain cancer. He was just diagnosed in the spring. He was the first of two other husbands affiliated with the office, and diagnosed with brain cancer, to pass away. All three of those diagnosed are Vietnam veterans who served around the same time. <p /> Last week while explaining my Mo-Stache to a few folks at the office one colleague demanded more information and the links to donate. I found out later that a close relative had just been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer that morning.<p /> Point being, the effort to help can seem overwhelming and perhaps insignificant given the enormity of the issue. But I think it is important to remember that every bit counts. Welcoming feedback on the handle bar approach, too comfortable?<p /> Also working to get those first donations in. My 1 year old is the person I see most often, and while she is probably more wealthy than I, I haven’t taught her how to use a credit card yet, maybe next year.<p /> Thinking about getting some of those cheapo home-made business cards to give to folks I run into a the grocery store.
